Out Spotlight

Today's Out Spotlight is  short and sweet but no less inspiring.

Celebrating the Supreme Court’s same-sex marriage ruling at the Stonewall Inn, were Don Russell, 84, and his 100-year-old partner, Charles Schaeffer.

The couple has been together for 62 years, and began dating when when Harry Truman was President of the United States.

Back then "it was an entirely different world for gay men, to put it mildly. 'You couldn’t walk around like this,' said Don, looking down. Their hands were clasped tightly together."

Grinding to a Halt

Looks like Jake is no longer attached to Mississippi Grind.

According to Indie Wire,  Ryan Reynolds is stepping into the role that was originally Jake's,  and the timetable for shooting it has now been pushed back from this month until next year.

It would appear he's replacing the originally attached Jake Gyllenhaal, in the story that centers on a down-on-his-luck gambler facing crushing debt, who teams up with a gambling addict (Reynolds), in an attempt to change his luck. The two then set off on a road trip through the South with visions of winning back what has been lost. And certainly in Fleck and Boden's hands, the end result will be something even more evocative than that logline. It's an interest cast with more to come, but there's plenty of time, as the movie doesn't even start filming until next year.

It looks like Jake will have plenty of time to find his inner prince-essence over the next couple of months, and work with some vocal coaches to fine tune his singing.  Jake's co-star James Cordon (The Baker in Into the Woods) also is in New York and was spotted in the private club SoHo House, which Jake has frequented both in LA and NY in the past.

With Prisoners coming out this fall,  there might be some plane hopping and crossing the pond a bit while he begins filming Into the Woods.
Speaking of Prisoners a new trailer with a lot more Detective Loki.  Check it out.

More Rays of Showtime

Austin gave his own special twist on the premiere last night.

Here we go!! Watch it Sunday night on Showtime!! -AUS10

And a few more Rays to go with that red.

Critics are loving the show and the cast.  Fingers crossed that Tommy gets himself into enough trouble to be back for season 2.

What a historic day in America and for equality!

"After Matt came out to me, he once asked me if I thought gay couples would ever be allowed to get married. I told him I didn’t think it would happen in my lifetime, but it probably would in his. It’s so sad, and ironic, that it turned out the other way. But this case warms my heart, to think that his dream is still coming true. Dennis and I look forward to the day when loving, committed couples are able to marry in every state.” -Judy Shepard on the Prop 8 decision

The Blue and Grey

Usually Blue and Grey means The North and The South but this time it's East and West.

It's premiere night and a T Wheeler Tuesday to boot.

Austin hit the red carpet at the premiere of Ray Donovan tonight.

To market, to market

But it's no tale. Check out that great big smile Jake had for Round Swamp farms in East Hampton today.

This is the kind of farm to table we love!

Hoping for seconds (and thirds!) of that smile.

Home again, home again, jiggety-jig.

Just one question. That cap is looking a little blue there Jakey.  Hmmm perhaps a Sox cap you turned around?

Out Spotlight

Today's Out Spotlight is about a family who campaigned for the passage for Prop 8 in California. Why in the world would they be in the Out Spotlight? It is for what happened when their then 13 yr old son came out. Today's Out Spotlight it the Montgomery family and their son Jordan.

Wendy and Tom Montgomery are devout Mormons from California who pounded on doors in 2008 to support the passage of Proposition 8, the state referendum that overturned the ruling that allowed same-sex couples to marry in California, and is now before the U.S. Supreme Court.

They did not know that their now 14-year-old son, Jordan, was gay and would later contemplate suicide because of the church's steadfast belief that homosexuality is a sin that would cut him off from his family not only here on earth but in the afterlife.

"One of core tenets we believe in as Mormons is that the family is eternal in nature," Wendy Montgomery, 37, told ABCNews.com. "Our family units are really strong."

Raised in a conservative community in California, the mother of six children said she often heard things like "gay people are disgusting and immoral" and "AIDS is God's punishment for homosexuality."

Until about age 13, their son Jordan had been the "happiest, most exuberant child,"  but then he began to withdraw from friends and family. Looking for answers, she found an entry in his journal describing his attraction to other boys, though he had never acted on those urges. The discovery shook his mom to the core.

"I felt like what I saw his life would be – what I expected his life to be – as a Mormon boy was now gone.  I saw him preparing for a mission for our church – gone. I saw a temple wedding – gone. I saw him being a father – gone."

"To be honest, before my son came out, I didn't know any other families who had gay kids," s "It's one of the things that's not talked about in my church, which makes it so much harder to deal with and know who to go to for help."

She found help from the Family Acceptance Project at San Francisco State University, . “It felt like a ray of sunshine in the middle of the darkest period of my life,” she said of the Family Acceptance Project. “It gave me hope.”

The Montgomery family's struggle to reconcile its faith with full acceptance of their son's sexual identity is at the heart of the video "Families Are Forever," which premiered at Frameline 37: the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival.

The 20-minute piece produced by the Family Acceptance Project, was part of a planned series of short documentaries that depict the journey of ethnically and religiously diverse families to support their lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender children.

In the short video, Jordan, a dark-haired boy with guileless eyes, explains that before his parents found out he was gay, he had considered taking "lots pills. ..."

"I was mortified at the idea of being disowned by my parents," Jordan says in the video, "I was like, I do not want to be thrown out of my home. I definitely expected to be excommunicated and restricted from church. But I still wanted to be with the church, like, I'd grown up with it, it was my life … until now."

Jordan's parents who had fought against Prop 8 now fight for their gay son and have become advocates for acceptance and change.

At "Circling the Wagons" a Mormon LGBT conference in San Francisco,  Tom shared a poem he wrote a poem about his son after he came out.  (Read the poem here)

And mom Wendy summed up how having a gay child has changed her life this way:

"I am a better person for having a gay son.  I love differently, and I love more openly. I didn't realize the judgment I had before I realized that having a gay son was a great blessing and not a burden."

More Gathering Into the Woods

The cast list grows for "Into the Woods" with the addition of Jack(as in Beanstalk) and Cinderella.

Deadline is reporting that Daniel Huttlestone, who starred as Gavroche in the recent film of "Les Misérables," is in talks to join the cast of the "Into the Woods" as Jack.

And Cinderella? Anna Kendrick.

Not a far fetch choice. Anna has the singing chops for the musical. For her role as "Dinah" in "High Society" on Broadway, she was nominated for a Tony Award (second youngest ever), a Drama Desk Award, and a Fany Award (best actress featured in a musical). She recently show off her singing in the movie Pitch Perfect and has had a hit on the Billboard and Itunes charts with the song Cups.

And of course it would make it easy if Cinderella already knew that Prince in real life really wasn't looking for a pretty pretty Princess but more of a Prince of a guy.

Or as Cinderella from the Real Housewives of Disney put it.

"Here's some good advice, never marry a guy who's really into shoes."

"Into the Woods" is filling up an all-star cast with Previous asting reports indicate that Emily Blunt may play the Baker's Wife, with Tony Award winner James Corden (One Man, Two Guvnors)as the Baker. Meryl Streep will play the Witch, Johnny Depp is the Wolf . Tracey Ullman was recently reported to be in talks to play Jack's Mother. Chris Pine, is Jake's brother and fellow prince and Tony Award winner Christine Baranski is also in negotiations  possibly as Prince Jake's future mother in law. She was part of a reading of the screenplay adaptation last fall, where she played Cinderella's Stepmother.

"Into the Woods" starts production in London in September with Opening Day being Christmas Day 2014.

And it will be a very musical Christmas in 2014, because not only is "Into The Woods" scheduled to open, but the collaboration of Jay-Z and Will Smith's remake of the musical Annie will open that day too.

As a tree grows....

Climbing, hanging, vacationing, and even doing shows with tree in the title. Lumberjack can be far off, wait, he's already done that.. or was that lumberJake?

I'm a little maple, oh so small,
In years ahead, I'll grow so tall!

With a lot of water, sun, and air,
I will soon be way up there!

Deep inside the soil my roots are found,
Drinking the water underground.

Water from the roots my trunk receives,
Then my trunk starts making leaves.

As I start to climb in altitude,
Leaves on my branches will make food.
Soon my trunk and branches will grow wide,
And I'll grow more bark outside!

I will be a maple very tall,
Losing my leaves when it is fall.
But when it is spring, new leaves will show.
How do trees grow? Now you know!---

Happy Austin Friday!

Photortunity

Jake taking his bike out for a walk today.

And it would have to be a walk.

Why?

Because those big old Nikes will never fit into the clips on those pedals. And those narrow pedals and those clunky Nikes would make it annoying to pedal all over the city.  Now if it was Jake's hybrid/mountain bike instead of this touring style bike that would be the better match.

One question,  how long do you have to walk your bike before it does its business?

Tableside selfie of a selfie

Mama F tweeted a picture of her and Jake, and Jake had a bit of a poke at himself.  (Way to work that reflection, sounds like you are related to several directors)

Her caption:  Who is this guy? #thursdaydinnerwithmyson

Now she posted this on yesterday (Wed) so the question is what Thursday was it?

Booty, Body, Booty

After a few takes Austin finally gets the line.

"Guy are asking for the Tommy Wheeler body at my gym."

Director:  And cut! Print! Moving on.

Director:  11 takes.  How hard is it to say the word body.

Austin:    Body, Booty, ....both work.

Actually Austin, booty might be more appropriate.

But no booty shorts for Jake, instead he's pulled out his knee length camo capris. It must be summer!  Maybe cullotes would be the better word.

"Historically, "culottes" referred to the knee-breeches commonly worn by gentlemen of the European upper-classes from the late Middle Ages or Renaissance through the early nineteenth century."
 City Camo Cullottes.

T Wheeler Tuesday

It looks like Two Wheel might be more T Wheeler on Tuesdays for the next few weeks as Ray Donovan premiere on Showtime, June 20th.

And to help kick off premiere week, Showtime has put the first episode up on You Tube for everyone to check out.  (pixeled and bleeped of course,  You gotta pay for premium channels to get the swears and such)

But in case you don't have a chance to watch it right now, and want to see some more of Austin as Tommy here you go.

And for those who get a chance to watch the episode.  What do you think?

And what do you think of Mr. Wheeler?
