One Man Band

You think Macy's has the only parade in town this time of year

But don't count out Jake.  He's a one man NY parade.  With Manhattan and Brooklyn down this week,  he just has Queens, Staten Island and The Bronx before he has all the boroughs down.

Give that man a harmonica and he'd be a one man band.

Hey New Yorkers be on the lookout.  Wait - don't worry he's easy to spot seems that everyone has seen him. ;)

  Happy Hanukkah!

Talkin' Turkey

The day after Thanksgiving there's always turkey.

Then again every Friday on OMG is Wild Turkey Day.

There was such a big deal about  Thanksgivukkah this year but when you think about it Jake's been having  turkey for Hanukkah for the last ten years.

Eight nights of this would make you dreidel spin.

Happy Austin Friday!

Happy Thanksgivukkah!!

Looks like Austin celebrated  in the grand tradition of some football.

Texas football that is.

TEXAS FIGHT - Aus10

And that would be Texas vs. Texas A&M

Hey Austin. Thurday Texas Tweet does not have the same ring as Tuesday Texas Tweet buddy, but Thanksgiving Texas Tweet is not too bad. Although in your house it might be Thanksgivukkah Texas Tweet.

Today Hanukkah falls on the same day as Thanksgiving. This has not occurred since 1861,  and will not happen again for another 79811!

Happy Thanksgivukkah!!

Here's hoping that all celebrated today have a wonderful time with friends and family and reflected on all the wonderful things they are grateful for.

Very Handy

It almost looks like Jake's campaign trail is the in the middle of The Heartland.

But it's really Sunday's stop to Long Island and the Museum of Moving Images.

Having a good laugh

And the Hollywood equivalent of kissing babies.

It also looks like Jake's hand is on the mend.  But it does appear that his injuries are not his knuckles but lower,  his palm perhaps.  That would be a tough place for stitches and to keep protected from infection while healing.

 Happy Hanukkah!

The Mind Wanders

Another day another chat for Jake.

And yes about Prisoners.

This time it's MOMA.

But really what was going on Jake's head.

Top Ten Things Jake Might have been thinking about

10. You know what this campaign needs is a theme song. Hmmmm.  "Back on the Chain Gang"  yeah!

9. Thanksgivukkah?  Why can't it be Hanukgiving?

8. Mashed potatoes or latkes? Pumpkin pie or pumpkin kugel?

7. My hand itches!!! Does that mean it's getting better?  Or play the lottery?

6.  I'm so working this suit.   All legs baby.

5.  Melissa has an Oscar and Hugh doesn't and she's the one who has to talk? Weird.

4.  Say something nice about Wolverine, say something nice about Wolverine.

3.  Does MOMA validate?

2.  Ten more punches on my talk about it ticket  and I get my own Oscar.

and the number on thing Jake might be thinking

Pose off!!!  I win!

Out Spotlight

Today's Out Spotlight was a writer and artist during the Harlem Renaissance. He was the first out black writer. Today's Out Spotlight is Bruce Nugent.

Richard Bruce Nugent to a middle class African-American family in Washington, D.C. July 2, 1906. . He was the oldest child of Richard H. Nugent, Jr., a train porter, by his wife, Pauline.  After his father died in 1920, Nugent moved to New York to live with his mother. When he told her he was going to be an artist, she sent him back to Washington.
Nugent met author Langston Hughes at a salon in poet Georgia Douglas Johnson’s home. In 1925, Hughes found Nugent’s poem “Shadow” in a trash can and had it published. The poem shocked readers because it was about being gay.

Nugent returned to New York, where he moved in with fellow writer Wallace Thurman and pursued art and writing. One of his drawings was published on the cover of Opportunity: Journey of Negro Life.

Along with Hughes and other Harlem Renaissance luminaries, Nugent cofounded Fire!!, an African-American art magazine. In 1926, he published “Smoke, Lilies, and Jade,” the first literary work by an African-American that openly depicted homosexuality.

His only stand-alone publication, Beyond Where the Stars Stood Still, was issued in a limited edition by Warren Marr II in 1945. He later married Marr's sister, Grace on December 5, 1952.

This marriage however was never consummated since he was openly gay, but she insisted they marry with the notion that she could change him. It was not seen as a ploy to hide his homosexuality, but rather they were just very close. They were married nearly 17 years until Marr’s death.

In 1964, he was elected co-chair of Columbia University’s Community Planning Conference, an organization that promoted the arts in Harlem.

Nugent was open about his sexual orientation and was known for his vivacious personality and elegantly erotic style. Called the “Gay Rebel of the Harlem Renaissance,” he is remembered for living unconventionally and for following his own path. Nugent passed away on May 27, 1987 at the age of 80.

“You’d be surprised how good homosexuality is. I love it.”

On the Trail

Despite the hurt hand Jake was once again back on the campaign trail this time in New York.

While it might be "no sleep
til  in Brooklyn",  Jake's campaign hq looks like Tribeca and was seen officially popping in and out of a hotel on Friday heading out for a campaign lunch.

Keeping his hurt paw warm and protected under a cozy looking shearling jacket,

Jake was looking like his old self  hitting all the fashion marks in an impeccably tailored tweed suit.  And check out those shiny shoes!

Even Jake's hand is impeccably wrapped too.  That's a hard job especially one handed.  Talk about needing an extra pair of hands to help.

Jake was joined by Denis and Melissa again to chat  about Prisoners with S.A.G. east  while co-star Hugh Jackman  chose to continue to recoup in NYC after disclosing he had a small basel cell carcinoma removed from his nose.

It looks like the Prisoners campaign model is "early  and often".  Here's hoping Jake gets holiday time off for good behavior.

In His Words

Fifty years ago the world was forever changed.  For those who remember where they were when it happened and for those who came after, all  have experience a world that lost a piece of its innocence.

Austin has always been an admirer of JFK.  Way before he was committed to Parkland  he took a moment at the White House to pay homage.

And later when he became a part of  Parkland his pride of being a part of the film about that day in Dallas was obvious.

Several day ago Austin tweeted this quote

"Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth." -JFK

Austin be that non conformist you want to be and break out.

Happy Austin Friday.
