The writing has been on the wall for since back when Austin tweeted:

"May the bridges I burn light the way." - AUS10 (May 29, 2011)

It was only once in June that we saw Austin and his co-star out together publicly. And even then it was strained.
While it took some time to wind down and slowed to barely registering during filming the last season once filming was officially done it became in more apparent that it was circling the drain if anyone one was paying attention they weren't even trying to make it look like they had a relationship as they persued their own lives, when finally the rumbles of break up grew louder and louder from fans of the show. And the final announcement of moving on down the road came via US Weekly.
Timing is everything as it is for this break up announcement.

But it doesn't seem like Austin is going to doing a Bridgette Jones of eating the contents of one's fridge, and choosing vodka and Chaka Kahn.

Think he will be just fine with beer and bear or two.
And yes, that bridge lit the way, to way way much more.

A little old, a little new

introduced Meryl Streep as only Jake could with his own humorous take about the acting legend Streep "as the terrifying 'Hank's mom,' who disapproved of him [Jake] as a 13-year-old bad influence on her son, Henry" (LA Times).

Does Jake know everyone in Hollywood since childhood? It seems like it.

And we've got to see the new Jake who is pretty open about sharing the Berlinale events with Austin.

It looks like the luncheon at the U.S. embassy was one of the first things Austin joined Jake at, with the official embassy webpage dating the event Saturday the 11th.

Then he's continued to be seen official events with Jake.
And Austin isn't too shy about dropping anvils either.

This year they celebrate in a different locale but with more to fill their hearts.

Usually gingerbread hearts are popular in Germany during Octoberfest and Christmas but sure they could find some for today.

Today's Out Spotlight is a German film and stage director whose flair for lush visuals and heightened emotions introduced an operatic sensibility to the New German Cinema movement of the 1970s. They are also the first German director to ever receive the Golden Bear for the Berlin International Film Festival. Today’s Out Spotlight is Werner Schroeter.

Werner Schroeter was a key person of the New German Cinema of the 70s. Next to Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Alexander Kluge, Werner Herzog und Wim Wenders he is known as the most important German film director of the postwar period who made himself a name also through theater and opera productions. His works combined an intense interest and knowledge of German History and personal dramatic and emotional investigations. What separated him from most of his contemporaries was his almost complete rejection of realism, social and political, and high camp.

Living by Oscar Wilde's dictum: "Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess,” his mixture of flamboyant, gender-bending minimalism and stylized melodrama, inspired by 19th-century Italian bel canto opera and the music of German romanticism, often juxtaposed with popular song, blurred the distinction between art and kitsch. His eschewal of conventional narrative made him a marginal figure, but towards the end of his life, with several retrospectives at festivals and cinemas, he gained a wider audience of cinephiles. He kept a faithful, mostly gay, following.

Born in the central German state of Thuringia on April 7, 1945, a few months before the end of the World War II, Werner Schroeter spent his childhood moving from school to school, and traveling around the world before finally completing his high school education in Heidelberg. He enrolled at the University of Mannheim to study psychology, but completed only three terms. Shortly after school he attended the experimental film festival in Knokke, Belgium where he was able to view a number of films of the New York Underground, exposing him not only to the numerous aesthetic possibilities of experimental cinema, but to the possibilities of independent film production, which would enable him to remain relatively free from the institutional constraints of the commercial film industry.

Schroeter began to make short, experimental 8mm films, which made him aware of the possibilities of independent film production. A meeting with another German experimental film-maker, Rosa von Praunheim (born Holger Bernhard Bruno Mischwitzky), later a gay rights activist, resulted in their co-directing Grotesk – Burlesk – Pittoresk (1968), which featured Magdalena Montezuma, who went to become Schroeter's favorite star, appearing in almost all his feature films until her death in 1986.

In 1968, Schroeter made his first full-length film, Eika Katappa (1969). This 144-minute, black-and-white film anticipates some of his archetypal themes; dissociated vignettes, asynchronous music and sounds, characters striking campy poses, literary citations and an operatic approach to passionate love, painful beauty and death . “Eika Katappa,” won the Josef von Sternberg prize of the Mannheim International Film Festival and introduced a new phase in his work, in which fragments of narrative begin to appear amid dense clusters of enigmatic sounds and allegorical images.

Working with Montezuma, whose dark, angular beauty suggested Callas, Schroeter created a series of 16-millimeter features, including “Salome” (1971), “The Death of Maria Malibran” (1971) and “Willow Springs” (1973), which considered gender and identity as a form of performance — a notion then gaining currency in postmodern philosophy.

With “Kingdom of Naples” (1978), he moved into 35-millimeter, a medium that allowed him greater control over color and texture. Visually, his work took on a ripe, almost bursting quality, with deeply saturated colors exploding out of dark backgrounds.

“Palermo or Wolfsburg,” his breakthrough film, was a 175-minute epic that evolved through three distinct styles — Italian neo-realism, Hollywood melodrama and theatrical absurdism — as it traced the itinerary of its unhappy protagonist from south to north, poverty to prosperity and freedom to imprisonment. It told the story of about an immigrant Sicilian laborer’s frustrated attempt searching to work and to integrate in German society. It was one of the few films to broach the subject of the difficulties foreigners faces.

“Palermo” won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1980. In doing so he became the first German filmmaker to win the festival’s highest honor, the Golden Bear, for his stylized feature.

The Death of Maria Malibran (1971) gained Schroeter the reputation as the mad genius of German cinema, and the only director Fassbinder considered an artistic equal. A series of baroque tableaux enact the short life of Maria Malibran (played by Montezuma), the 19th-century Spanish prima donna, who died aged 28 in 1836 from injuries received in a riding accident. The hypnotically perverse biopic had no discernible plot and no direct dialogue, with the music on the soundtrack ranging from Mozart to anachronistic melodies such as St Louis Blues.

His last collaboration with Montezuma, “The Rose King,” was his first to deal openly with homosexuality. Filmed in Portugal and punctuated by hallucinatory imagery, operatic underscoring and camp posturing, it tells the story of a horticulturalist whose love for his mother is surpassed only by his obsession with a handsome handyman, whose beauty the gardener tries to enhance by grafting roses to the young man’s body. The film seems at once a parody of German Romanticism and its logical, morbid end point.

After Montezuma’s death in 1984, Schroeter worked with the French actress Isabelle Huppert on two fiction films, “Malina” (1990) and “Deux” (2001), but he devoted more of his time to stage work and documentaries. His “Poussières d’amour” (1996) brought together the divas Martha Mödl, Rita Gorr and Anita Cerquetti in a 13th-century abbey for a discussion of art, life and advancing age. In “The Queen” (1999), he interviewed the actress Marianne Hoppe, whose career began with Max Reinhardt, flourished under the Nazis and ended with a 1997 farewell performance at the Berliner Ensemble.

His final film was “This Night,” a dark fantasy set in a totalitarian future that drew mixed reviews and was little seen outside Europe.

In 2010 he was honored at the Berlin Film Festival again with a special award for lifetime achievement. He passed away after an operation for cancer, which Schroeter had been battling for the last three years of his life. He died on April 12 in Kassel, Germany. He was 65.

Busy in Berlin

Jake has been the busy bee since arriving in Berlin with his official duties, greeting fans, as well as catching a party and concert by fellow juror Charlotte Gainsbourg for Interview Magazine on Tuesday night.Speaking at the press conference Jake said "there was no hesitation in accepting the invitation'' to serve on the jury. And despite the awkward moment from a comment from a US reporter his "humorous impression of [festival director] Kosslick's jolly German delivery took the press conference by storm". - Hollywood Reporter

After a week in London which included some specs, a video shoot, snow, swans, a party and even a play Jake spent sometime with a razor in hand (maybe he did wan to be mistaken for one of the famous Berlin Brown Bears) before boarding a flight to Berlin where he is a member of the jury for Berlinale - the Berlin International Film Festival (February 9-19). The 62nd festival opens tomorrow night with the world premiere of Benoît Jacquot’s film Les adieux à la Reine.Traveling a little light for this 10 day leg of his European adventure, it looks like Jake sporting a new Patagonia black puffer, was in charge of just the essentials as he pushed his luggage out of customs before greeting fans and and Festival director Mr. Dieter Kosslick.Oh you didn't believe that I was famous when I was on the plane, but nowwww you want an autograph.
Mr Kosslick the festival director of the Berlinale since 2001 welcomed Jake as he does with every jury member with a personal bouquet.While you will be a Berliner for the next ten days Jakey, no one will ever mistake you for a jelly donut.

No Challenge too Big

Last week Austin gave a performance that could remind some of his performances from JFC, subtle but not quiet, in it he conveyed more than he ever has before on OTH.
With a sparse dialog, it was all Austin to show the fear, guilt, shame, anguish and anger that Julian felt after forgetting Davis in the car.
His silent moments and few chosen word spoke louder than any writer could create and Julian was not a caricature of a boyfriend/husband but a real man faced with a life of actions and their consequences.
His actions at the garage with repaired window was one of the most realistic reactions on OTH.He tapped into the real raw emotion of the what if from his own life.
You can see why Austin pushed for the chance for such an acting challenge this last season.Kudos Mr. Nichols. Keep going for those roles and moments.

And what better way to celebrate California Proposition 8 being struck down as unconstitutional than with a very special Two Wheel Tuesday.

Specs, Smiles and Video tapes

Jake spent the weekend continuing to film the video for the band The Shoes' new single "Time to Dance" and pulled out the some wire frame specs this time, while finding that amazing smile.
The Shoes gave a tease on their twitter asking "who could it be?" showing Jake looking like he could studying something at the table. But it wasn't also serious with Jake showing up looking smart in a beautiful brown leather bomber jacket at a party Friday night.

And it looks like it took going to London for Jake to get some snow, with filming continuing as the flakes flew. The last day of shooting found Jake again with something soft and white but not snow this time but swans. How is all fits together? It's a wait and see until the video comes out this spring.
And as for the running slip of the tongue out picture game, Jake has made the last move. Mr. Nichols - tag you're it.

Today's Out Spotlight was the first African-American woman elected to Congress from a southern state. A leader of the Civil Rights movement, they were known as an outstanding orator and Constitutional scholar. They were also the first African American elected to the Texas Senate after Reconstruction and the first southern black female elected to the United States House of Representatives. Today's Out Spotlight is Barbara Jordan.

Barbara Charline Jordan was born February 21, 1936 in Houston, Texas' Fifth Ward. The daughter of a Baptist minister; and a "domestic worker" Jordan attended Roberson Elementary School and Phyllis Wheatley High School, where in 1952 she graduated as an honor student.

Due to segregation, she did not attend The University of Texas at Austin and instead chose Texas Southern University, majoring in political science and history. A national champion debater, she defeated opponents from such schools as Yale and Brown and tied in a debate with Harvard University's team. Jordan graduated magna cum laude in 1956. She went on to attend Boston University School of Law, graduating with a J.D. in 1959.

Jordan went on to teach political science at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama for a year. The next year she returned to Houston, TX, passing the bar and starting a private law practice.

Jordan campaigned unsuccessfully in 1962 and 1964 for the Texas House of Representatives. Her persistence paid won her a seat in the Texas Senate in 1966, becoming the first African American state senator since 1883 and the first black woman to serve in the Texas State Senate. Re-elected to a full term in 1968, she served until 1972. She was the first African-American female to serve as president pro tem of the state senate and served one day, June 10, 1972, as acting governor of Texas.

In 1972, she was elected to Congress, the first woman to represent Texas in the House in her own right (the first woman from Texas, Lera Thomas, had been elected after the death of her husband, Albert Thomas). She received extensive support from former President Lyndon B. Johnson, who helped her secure a position on the House Judiciary Committee.

Jordan came to national prominence during the Watergate Scandal in 1974 when, as a freshman member of the House Judiciary Committee, she made an eloquent speech on the Constitution which was nationally televised in prime time. Her speech set the stage for President Richard Nixon's resignation.

In 1976, she was mentioned as a possible running mate to Jimmy Carter, but became instead the first African-American woman to deliver the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention. Her speech in New York that summer was ranked 5th in "Top 100 American Speeches of the 20th century" list and was considered by some historians to have been among the best convention keynote speeches in modern history.

Despite not being a candidate, Jordan received one delegate vote (0.03%) for President at the convention.

She retired from politics in 1979 and became an adjunct professor teaching ethics at the University of Texas at Austin Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs. In 1992 returned to the Democratic National Convention as their keynote speaker.

The New York Times described her oratory as "Churchillian," and one writer suggested that her deep, Olympian sound could galvanize listeners "as though Winston Churchill had been reincarnated as a black woman from Texas." Jordan was named Best Living Orator by a professional speakers' organization. Texas columnist the late Molly Ivins said that Jordan would be the obvious choice in a casting call for the voice of God.

In 1994 and until her death in 1996, she chaired the U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform, which advocated increased restriction of immigration, called for all U.S. residents to carry a national identity card and increased penalties on employers that violated U.S. immigration regulations. Then-President Clinton endorsed the Jordan Commission's proposals. While she was Chair of the US Commission on Immigration Reform she argued that "it is both a right and a responsibility of a democratic society to manage immigration so that it serves the national interest.” Her stance on immigration is cited by opponents of current US immigration policy who cite her willingness to penalize employers who violate US immigration regulations, to tighten border security, and to oppose amnesty or any other pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants and to broaden the grounds for the deportation of legal immigrants.

She also upported the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, legislation that required banks to lend and make services available to underserved poor and minority communities. She supported the renewal of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and expansion of that act to cover language minorities. This extended protection to Hispanics in Texas and was opposed by Texas Governor Dolph Briscoe and Secretary of State Mark White.

In 1973, Jordan began to suffer from multiple sclerosis. She had difficulty climbing stairs, and she started using a cane and eventually a wheelchair. She kept the state of her health out of the press so well that in the KUT radio documentary Rediscovering Barbara Jordan, President Bill Clinton stated that he wanted to nominate Jordan for the United States Supreme Court, but by the time he could do so, Jordan's health problems prevented him from nominating her.

Jordan's partner of close to 30 years was Nancy Earl. She met Earl, an educational psychologist who would become an occasional speech writer, on a camping trip in the late 1960s. Jordan never publicly acknowledged her sexual orientation, but in her obituary, the Houston Chronicle mentioned her long relationship with Earl.

In the beginning of her political career, during her initial unsuccessful statewide races, advisers warned her to become more discreet and not bring any female partners on the campaign trail.

Jordan narrowly escaped death by drowning in July 1988 when Earl pulled her from their backyard swimming pool. Her death in 1996 was caused from complications of pneumonia.

In 1994, President Bill Clinton awarded Jordan the nation's highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

She was also elected to both the Texas and National Women's Hall of Fame and awarded the prestigious United States Military Academy's Sylvanus Thayer Award, becoming only the second female awardee.

Upon her death on January 17, 1996, Jordan lay in state at the LBJ Library on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. She was buried in the Texas State Cemetery in Austin, and was the first black woman interred there. Her papers are housed at the Barbara Jordan Archives at Texas Southern University.

The main terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is named after her, as are an elementary school in Odessa, Texas, a middle school in Cibolo, Texas; Barbara Jordan High School in Houston. The Kaiser Family Foundation currently operates the Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholars, a fellowship designed for people of color who are college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates as a summer experience working in a congressional office.

On March 27, 2000, a play on Jordan's life premiered at the Victory Garden Theater in Chicago, Illinois. Titled, "Voice of Good Hope", biographical story of Jordan's life played in theaters from San Francisco to New York.

On April 24, 2009, a Barbara Jordan statue was unveiled at the University of Texas at Austin, where Jordan taught at the time of her death. The Barbara Jordan statue campaign was paid for by a student fee increase approved by the University of Texas Board of Regents. The effort was originally spearheaded by the 2002-2003 Tappee class of the Texas Orange Jackets, the "oldest women's organization" at the University of Texas at Austin.

Many of Jordan's speeches have been collected in Barbara Jordan: Speaking the Truth with Eloquent Thunder."

In her namesake, the Jordan/Rustin Coalition (JRC) was created in California in 2000. This organization seeks to mobilize gay and lesbian African American to aid in the passage of marriage equality in the state of California. Along with Bayard Rustin, a civil rights leader and close confidante of Martin Luther King, Jr., Barbara Jordan is remembered for her advocacy of progressive politics. According to its website, "the mission [of the JRC] is to empower Black same-gender loving, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals and families in Greater Los Angeles, to promote equal marriage rights and to advocate for fair treatment of everyone without regard to race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression."

At Jordan's funeral in 1996, President Clinton eulogized her: "Whenever she stood to speak, she jolted the nation's attention with her artful and articulate defense of the Constitution, the American Dream, and the common heritage and destiny we share, whether we like it or not. "

"My faith in the Constitution is whole, it is complete, it is total. I am not going to sit here and be an idle spectator to the diminution, the subversion, the destruction of the Constitution."

Only this time the Frankenstein is not in long form, but in short form, and not made from spare parts of the recently deceased but culling together spare tweets to create a tale stemmed from fear.

"I immediately saw this gorgeous girl because I get girl crushes easily but didn't think anything of it," our babe gushes about Jake's date (whom we're told is an Alessandra Ambrosio look-alike). "She had a fur coat on, a Balenciaga bag and a high pony. Then we sit down and order and my mother notices Jake G. seated with the babe girl."

But apparently not inconspicuous enough, as Jake was approached by a few fans with whom he happily took pictures. And—get ready to awww with us—he apparently went up and talked to another family's kid.

Now if he was there on Monday, how could he eat, take pictures, talk to another family and spend time leaning in sipping coffee, if this possible server who messed up his order 10 times in an hour? Can you really tweet about him at 12:58pm when lunch service doesn’t start at ABC until 12:00pm, that’s less than an hour into service at a very busy restaurant during the lunch rush? Additionally I don’t think you would get so thrown serving Jake if you work at a restaurant that has a steady stream of high profile diners as ABC Kitchen.

Interesting that this fuzzy picture of Jake that was discounted as recent popped up this past weekend too.

He is there with something that looks like cake on the table with someone next to him that is female. But they are not alone. There seems to be a third person. We also have concluded this is not a recent picture of Jake because of his beard (it’s not as thick now) and Jake’s size (he’s not as thick either, in fact he is quite slender now) And that doesn’t look like lunch time either.

The twosome spent some time meandering through the home goods section of ABC Carpet & Home before checking out the upstairs levels with bed and bath products:

Interesting to note that Jake has been mentioned with three different Victoria’s Secret models over the past year. If it was true they would have counter the Jake can’t get a date/Minka Kelly story with those exploits and go on to show the game he’s got with all the VS ladies. And they didn’t. In fact Jake doesn’t seem interested in any attention from the ladies at all.

There was Jared talking about Jake not staying long enough to even look at the ladies at the Victoria’s Secret After Party.

Today's Out Spotlight is the Executive Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), a national legal organization that fights for the civil and human rights of LGBT people and their families. Today's Out Spotlight is Kate Kendell.

Kate Kendell (Kathryn Dean Kendell) was born April 15, 1960 and raised as a Mormon/Latter-day Saint in Utah. She received her J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law in 1988. After a few years practicing corporate law, she pursued her real love, civil rights advocacy.

In 1992, Kendell became the first staff attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Utah, where she litigated high-profile cases. She focused on LGBT, reproductive, and prisoners’ rights, and the separation of church and state.

In 1994, Kendell was hired as NCLR’s legal director. She was promoted to executive director in 1996. Under her leadership, NCLR’s impact has grown exponentially.

Each year, through litigation, public policy advocacy and public education, NCLR helps more than 5,000 LGBT people and their families nationwide. NCLR was one of the organizations that argued before the California Supreme Court for the overturn of Proposition 8.

She joined the NCLR in 1994, as its Legal Director. Two years later, she was named their Executive Director.

During her leadership, the issues facing the LGBT community—from homophobia in sports to immigration policy—have taken center stage in the United States’ discussion of LGBT civil rights issues.

She is a nationally recognized spokesperson for LGBT rights and has an active voice in major media, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal,The Advocate, NPR,CNN,and many others. Despite the national success of NCLR under her tenure, her most rewarding responsibilities still include fostering alliances on the community and organizational levels, and advocating from a grass-roots perspective on issues concerning social justice.

On May 26, 2009, when the California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8, Kendell responded, “Today, the California Supreme Court diminished its legacy as a champion of equality. No minority group should have to defend its right to equality at the ballot, and the Court should not have permitted such a travesty of justice to stand.”

In 2002, Kendell received the National LGBT Bar Association’s Dan Bradley Award. In 2004, she was named one of California's Top 100 Attorneys and also won the Del Martin/Phyllis Lyon Marriage Equality Award at Equality California’s 2004 San Francisco Equality Awards. In October 2009 she was named a hero for National GLBT History Month.

On March 23, 2010, Kate was named a "woman who could be president" by the League of Women Voters of San Francisco at their annual “Women Who Could Be President” gala.

Kendell and her spouse, Sandy Holmes, were legally married in San Francisco in 2008,and live in San Francisco with their son, Julian,and daughter, Ariana. Their family includes Kate’s daughter Emily.

With all the talk about Jake in New York now, a little look back to Jake in NYC in the fall.

Remember when those pictures of Jake on Yom Kippur?

Jake threw a curve ball being see in his glasses, but is that the only curve he threw?It seemed odd at the time that Jake was snapped jogging in Central Park. Something he was never seen doing the weeks before Oct 8 or even since.

And many commented that that it was uncharacteristic that the G's were wearing leather shoes and leather purses going to services on Yon Kippur.And then there were the pictures. The first set anyone saw where the ones by the brick wall.And then almost a day later appear additional pictures that looked like there were so over exposed that the entire background seemed burned out.So was Jake throwing more than just curve? Where the glasses a distraction for something else like him getting out of town?

Some could say it was all about Maggie keeping her pregnancy under wraps a bit longer. That seems like part of it. Look how she is blocked in all photos.
And Jake and Peter were almost abreast in creating a walking wall.Or the fact that Peter is looking like a bird doing a mating ritual or an extra for Maroon 5's Moves Like Jagger.

But it is way beyond just strategic walking. There are so many things out of place and shopped in the big family photo shot that you have to arrow them to keep track.

The legs are there but where the person's head ? Is Jake walking up the back of his mom's leg?How does an arm in front of Peter be out of focus but his arm behind it be clear as a bell? Why does it look like Maggie & Mama G's hands are almost overlapping?What is that oddly solid blue thing between Naomi's knees?

And more:How blurry is it between Jake's arm and the pole?
Another headless person and where did the dude in the hat pop up from? Why are the bikes in focus but street signs that can be seen for blocks not?

So the question is, was the picture to cover for Maggie or to cover for Jake?

The Photo Op/Photo Shop, the picture of him out jogging, and the barrage of tweets trying to put him in NYC look like it could have been cover for him. Making it look like he was in New York when he wasn't? If he wasn't there, where could he be?

Interesting that Austin was tweeted he was editing his episode that weekend. And from the season before we know that editing takes place in LA. And Austin was so busy he even forgot that FIVE was premiering.

He started out with an edge and agenda and found himself searching for his pair that BrookeDavis and the writers took, but is Julian getting roughed up again?

This past episode not only had the quirky lovable Julian that has been seen for the past two seasons, but revealed some cracks to him as well.

Julian distracted by the potential of clients coming to rent out his soundstage forgets his son Davis, who he is supposed to take to daycare, is in the car as he gets runs errands before the meeting, a story that is taken from the headlines.It looks like Austin was pushing for Julian to get a little less puppy and a little more real.

Speaking to Zap2It, Austin told them "that after several seasons of playing the harmless, doting, occasionally coddled Julian, he was excited to explore a crack in Julian's foundation."

"This year, there's a major flaw, or, not so much a flaw as an accident. It could happen with any parent. Julian really puts a lot of blame on himself for this thing that happens. As an actor it's been great. I've really gotten to go to a different place that I haven't gone to before on this show. I'm always pushing and begging [executive producer Mark Schwahn] for stuff like this, just trying to keep exploring. I want him to challenge me, and hopefully I can challenge him in some way, and I think that makes the best artwork."Could it not just for the artwork, but maybe creating distance away from the concept Brulian image, and setting the seeds for a No Sophin future?

Just one question, did they have to make Julian in a liquor store buying a bottle of scotch? Forgetting the baby is bad enough, did they have to add that kicker?

A decision made by Julian impacts him profoundly, and it will be something revisited again during the season. (And it's not his oh so faux away co-star)

Directed by Paul Johansen (Worst Dad Ever Dan Scott), the episode has memorable performance from Austin as Julian who struggles to keep up with the new phase of his life, balancing family and work.

Being The Crazy Tree it's not all an after school special, there's tears, drama, unrealistic story lines, BrookeDavis and men screaming like girls.

Medical Mystery

Jake's been to the doctors twice in the past few days. But the mystery is not why he is going so much but the mystery and the hints when he does.
Case in point :

Why were the pictures of Jake's Saturday trip to the Dr's cropped so close that you can't barely even see anything the front quarter of the car?Every single shot was crop so closely it wasn't just a coincidence.Who could be driving the car that wasn't supposed to be seen?Was it because someone who can be seen in a group with Jake but not the two of them alone in the family truckster just yet in the driver's seat?

Maybe Jake is giving some hints.

Interesting that Jake has been seen in Patagonia the last two times he's been out and about.
Maybe it just goes with the hat.

Today’s Out Spotlight was ranked No. 1 in the tennis world, winning 25 career titles including two Grand Slams. In 2004, they received an Olympic Silver medal in tennis singles. Today’s Out Spotlight is is French former professional tennis player Amélie Mauresmo.

Amélie Simone Mauresmo was born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France on July 5, 1979. Her mother, Françoise is a homemaker and her father Francis, who died in March 2004, was an engineer. She also has a brother Fabien who is an engineer. Mauresmo began playing tennis at the age of four, after being inspired by Yannick Noah's win in the 1983 French Open on television. It was after his win that her parents bought her first tennis racket. Her talent on the court was quickly recognized, and her parents enrolled her in private lessons. In 1996, at the age of seventeen, she captured both the junior French Open and Wimbledon titles. She was named 1996 Junior World Champion by the International Tennis Federation. In 1998 her childhood inspiration Yannick Noah picked her to be on n the French team for the Fed Cup.

The unseeded Mauresmo reached the Australian Open final in 1999 with wins over three seeded players, including world no. 1 Lindsay Davenport, before falling to world no. 2 Martina Hingis. Mauresmo was only the second Frenchwoman ever to reach the Australian Open final and was only the third Frenchwoman to reach any Grand Slam final during the Open Era. She defeated Hingis later in the year, en route to the final of the Paris indoor event.

In 1999, two years into her professional career, Mauresmo came out during the Australian Open. She publicly embraced her girlfriend after defeating the World No. 1 player, Lindsay Davenport. Mauresmo credited her on-court success to coming to terms with her sexuality. She is the first tennis player to come out without losing any major sponsors.

Mauresmo first attained no 1 ranking on 13 September 2004, holding it for five weeks on that occasion. She was the fourteenth world no. 1 in women's tennis since computer rankings began. She is one of only a few tennis players to reach World No. 1 ranking before winning a Grand Slam title. Known for her powerful one-handed backhand and strong net play, she has defeated top-ranked players such as Venus and Serena Williams, Martina Hingis, and Justine Henin. She returned to Wimbledon in 2010, acting as a grass court advisor for Frenchman and 2007 Wimbledon doubles champion Michaël Llodra.

At the 2011 French Open, Mauresmo was set to be reunited with Llodra, making her professional return in the mixed doubles competition, but was disqualified before competing, because she had not re-registered for the anti-doping procedures required to compete on the tour.

This past November, Mauresmo ran her first marathon at the 2010 New York City Marathon, finishing 3hr: 40m: 20s.

Since retiring, she has become ambassador of the Sport for Life Foundation, a Swiss-based organization dedicated to supporting young athletes. “I want to share the experiences I’ve gathered along my career with young people so they cannot walk into traps,” she says. “Respect for values is the foundation for success!”

Mauresmo lives in Geneva, Switzerland.

So why not do a little career version of going home.
And with Austin not filming at the moment maybe the cinephile will go to Sundance, back to where he got discovered after crashing a party as a high school senior. And then it was Cali -forn-i-a for this tall Texan.

Ever the director, Austin knew exactly how to walk just behind Jake and remain in the perfect sight line for the lenses to capture them together.
All the while having his eyes checking out Jake's backfield in motion.

Another thing the video on X17 showed was how Austin made his was to the far side of the family truckster first but then came around to make sure the cameras captured him getting in the car with Jake.

Jake was snapped yesterday looking very good as grabbing some drinks and in a new ride. Or is it?Never seen in a truck before, Jake trucks up in a black Toyota Tundra after running into Beverly Hills Juice to grab a Banana Mana and 4 bottles of juice.

No it wasn't Starbucks, or a coffee. Beverly Hills Juice has been doing raw and organic juices since 1975, and in fact there is no coffee drinks on their menu. In fact there is nothing hot served there, except their Hot Tomato tonic, which is spicy hot not temperature hot. All of their drinks are meant to be drunk fresh for their maximum benefits are not made to be stored. So unless Jake's is secretly a dromedary doubt all those drinks are juice for him.

Hmmm....4 bottles of juice? Wonder if that's along the lines of the 3 boxes of candy ?B H Juice's Banana Mana is a vegan alternative to a milkshake with just two ingredients either frozen banana and almonds or frozen banana and sunflower seeds. The shake can also be combined with any of their other juices.

The English version of Wikipedia and other major sites will go down for 24-hours to protest the U.S. anti-piracy laws - Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA). Other sites joining in include MoveOn, Reddit, BoingBoing, Mozilla, WordPress, TwitPic and the ICanHasCheezBurger network. Google, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr will not be joining the day of protest, however, all have expressed their stance against the bills.

Jake skipped the red carpet last night and just hit the stage running introducing former co-star and friend Michelle Williams' movie "My Week with Marilyn" early in the eventNot the first time was there for his friend. Jake was there for Michelle last fall when Marylin debuted at the NYFF. That time going for something a bit more casual.But last night he ditched his NY go to fall formal wear and cut a dashing figure as he stepped out into the Hollywood fishbowl for the first time without his former long time manager or his former agency.

Looking fabulous in a Ferragamo double breasted tux that fit him like a glove, he faced his new future in Hollywood head first and got down to business right away.

Today’s Out Spotlight is an American actor and producer. He has been nominated for and Academy Award, received four Golden Globe nominations, an Emmy Award nomination, and a Tony Award nomination for his acting. He has received Emmy award and theater awards as an actor and as a theater producer he has won a Tony Award as a lead producer of the Broadway musical Spring Awakening. Today’s Out Spotlight is Tom Hulce.

Thomas Edward Hulce was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 6, 1953, the youngest of four children, to Joanna and Raymond Hulce. He was brought up and raised in Plymouth, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit where his father worked for the Ford Motor Company. Although he originally wanted to be a singer as a child, he switched to acting after his voice changed as a teenager. He left home at the age of 15 to attended the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and the North Carolina School of the Arts.

Hulce made his acting debut in 1975, playing opposite Anthony Perkins in Equus on Broadway. Throughout the rest of the 1970s and the early 1980s, he worked primarily as a theater actor, taking occasional parts in movies. His first film role was in the James Dean-influenced film September 30, 1955 in 1977. His next movie role, one that is one of his best known, was as good guy freshman rush Lawrence "Pinto" Kroger in National Lampoon's Animal House in 1978.

In the early 1980s, he was chosen over intense competition (which included David Bowie and Mikhail Baryshnikov) to play the role of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in director Milos Forman's film version of Peter Shaffer's play Amadeus. In 1985, he was nominated for his first Best Actor Golden Globe award and received a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance for portrayal of Mozart, losing to his co-star, F. Murray Abraham in the Oscar race. In 1989, he received his second Best Actor Golden Globe Award nomination for a critically acclaimed performance as a developmentally challenge garbage collector in the 1988 movie Dominick and Eugene. He went on to play supporting roles in such movies as Parenthood, Fearless and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

In 1990, he was nominated for his first Emmy Award for his performance as the 1960s civil rights activist Michael Schwerner in the 1990 TV-movie Murder in Mississippi. He went on to star as Joseph Stalin's projectionist in Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky's 1991 film The Inner Circle. In 1996, he won an Emmy Award for his role as a gay pediatrician in a television-movie version of the Wendy Wasserstein play The Heidi Chronicles, starring Jamie Lee Curtis. That same year he provided both the speaking and singing voice of the protagonist Quasimodo in the Disney animated feature The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Although he largely retired from acting in the mid-1990s to focus on producing, he has had small parts in recent movies including Jumper and Stranger Than Fiction.

Hulce remained active in theater throughout his entire acting career. In addition to Equus, he also appeared in Broadway productions of A Memory of Two Mondays and A Few Good Men, for which he was a Tony Award nominee in 1990 and received Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actor the role of Lt. Daniel Kaffee. Hulce received Aaron Sorkin’s screen adaptation and suggested to his agent who also represented Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer that they might be better for the role. Cruise went on to play the part on screen. In the mid-1980s, he appeared in two different productions of playwright Larry Kramer's early AIDS-era drama The Normal Heart. In 1992, he starred in a Shakespeare Theatre Company production of Hamlet. His regional theatre credits include Eastern Standard at the Seattle Repertory Theatre.

Hulce went on to become an acclaimed theater producer, including bringing two major projects to fruition: the six-hour, two-evening stage adaptation of John Irving's The Cider House Rules, and Talking Heads, a festival of Alan Bennett's plays which won six Obie Awards, a Drama Desk Award, a special Outer Critics Circle Award, and a New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Play. He also headed 10 Million Miles, a musical project by Keith Bunin and Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Patty Griffin, that premiered in Spring 2007 at the Atlantic Theater Company.

He was a lead producer of the Broadway hit Spring Awakening, which won eight Tony Awards in 2007, including one for Best Musical and also won four Drama Desk Awards, while its London production won four Olivier Awards. The musical has had worldwide success and continues to be brought to the stage around the globe. Warner Bros. has announced consideration of making a movie adaptation of McG (Whose production company purchased the rights to adapt the musical) is rumored as being attached to direct.

He was also a lead producer of a stage adaptation of the Green Day album American Idiot. The musical had its world premiere in Berkeley, California, at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2009 and opened on Broadway in April 2010. American Idiot won two 2010 Tony Awards: Best Scenic Design of a Musical for Christine Jones, and Best Lighting Design of a Musical for Kevin Adams. It also received a nomination for Hulce for Best Musical. Due to the success of the Broadway show, a film adaptation had been in the talks in April of 2011, the American Idiot film was confirmed. Michael Mayer, director of the Broadway musical, will be directing the film. It will be produced by Green Day, Pat Magnarella (Green Day's manager), Playtone (Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman) and Hulce.

This will not be his first film producing credit, in 2004 he brought, A Home at the End of the World, based upon Michael Cunningham's novel of the same name, starring Colin Farrell to the screen.

For many years, Hulce was the subject of unsubstantiated and unsourced rumors that he had married an Italian artist named Cecilia Ermini, with whom he had a daughter. Although this was repeated as fact on many websites, including imdb.com, he himself debunked the rumor as completely false in a 2008 interview with The Seattle Gay News.

Andrews-Katz: In 1996, you married the Italian artist Cecilia Ermini and your daughter Anya was born in 1997. How do you respond to the many lists that place you among openly Gay actors?

Hulce: That information - having a wife and child - is false. In the world of the internet, there are many falsehoods. Anyone can write stuff on Wikipedia and it doesn't have to be true. I'm comfortable being among the lists although I stopped acting about 10 years ago. The exceptions are a brief moment in Stranger than Fiction or (what was left of my work) in Jumpers. If I found the work intriguing, I would do it again.

While on a trip up to Vancouver Island Hulce fell for the Seattle Washington area, it is there where he makes his primary home.

With The Crazy Tree coming back tomorrow, the local Wilmy paper has been doing some pieces on their past OTH Wilmy residents.

While it's always the joke that Austin looks like he was more the junk food eater, it might not be the whole story.

Austin's always been a fan of Mexican food so one of his favorite places in Wilmington, Tower Seven is not a stretch.
And "he also frequents Flaming Amy's, Brasserie du Soleil, Lovey's and Tidal Creek."

This man can not live on Mexican alone and Brasserie du Soleil satisfies his French food cravings.
But it does seem some of Jake's healthy ways seems to have spilled over to him because other favs like Lovey's a natural food store and cafe, with 100% organic produce and the only organic salad bar in Wilmy and a vegan menu and shopping at Tidal Creek a natural foods cooperative.

And Flaming Amy's? He's gotta have more than one burrito place, right? It's hot fast cheap and easy. Wait is that the food or one of Austin's ~~porn~~ por favor tweets?

And turn about is fair play. The ever healthy Jake was spotted a few weeks ago in NYC at Bowery Coffee enjoying a peanut butter and jelly donut. Who'da thunk?How to it burn off ?

DEADLINE.COM EXCLUSIVE: Not long after leaving his longtime manager, actor Jake Gyllenhaal has left his longtime agency. He grew up, so to speak, at CAA as one of Kim Hodgert’s first clients. I’m assured his departure is not because of anything she has done. “He needed to make a change after 15 years. He has enormous respect for CAA.” He will now be repped by WME’s Patrick Whitesell.

UPDATE: Jake has been named a presenter at this year's Golden Globes Awards happening this Sunday, January 15th.

Austin might have not shown up at the OTH screening, but he does show up in the new trailer for LOL.

Nora Dunn got a lot of the great lines on SNL, and here she's got the best line in the trailer:
