JFC ad in the Hollywood Reporter

Save JFC.net put this ad in yesterday's Hollywood Reporter. Don't know if it will save the show, but it can't hurt to try.

  2. Why is there a big gray blanket stretch over the top of of the back seat in those pictures?

  3. And why does it look like Jake is talking to the blanket in one of those pictures?

For that matter, why does the blanket move from the being vertical in the middle of the seat to horizontal across the back seat?

Is it any wonder? The paps are literally ON his car taking pics of him.

  5. Check out the photo of Charlie's Angels (the original ones) on the passenger seat!

  6. Oh, my. The expression in the second one is just so...

Sort of a 'How did it come to this?' expression.

  7. Mr. Blanket:
    Do you speak English?
    Can you hear me?
Oh, do speak up, Mr. Blanket!
    Say something, Blankie baby.
    You owe us an explanation!
You move in mysterious ways, don't you? Oh, do tell us.
    Please.

  8. LOL rattler. I can't see the pictures very well here at work (hey, at least I got on here, I haven't been able to access this site from work most of this week). Do we really think someone is back there?

Looks like empty back seat with Atticus' blanket to me.

Prove me wrong but I am not convinced of that.

  11. I noticed some activities going on under the quilt. I tried very hard to keep lying quietly, but was very frightened of the shadows the quilt was making on the wall across. It looked as if there was a big toad under that quilt jumping and would jump out on me any moment.

“Oh, Ma,” I gathered all the courage to say something, but nothing came out of my mouth. Frightened, I took my shoes off, quietly got off the cot, and hit the light switch. A hand flashed inside the quilt and the quilt flattened. Because of that hand-flash, about a foot of the quilt was lifted up exposing the inside.

“Hai Allah!!!” Whoosh…I dived right back into under my quilt.

    The Quilt, Ismat Chughtai

In the 1944, Ismat faced an obscenity trial in India/Pakistan for depicting a lesbian love affair (narrated by a 10 year old girl) in her short story, "The Quilt".
If you are interested, just google it and you will find it.
    Wicked may love it.

  13. Has anyone seen this review of one of Austy's early movies, Durango Kids?

  14. Rattler- I will Google that.

People, I see what looks to me like a sweatshirt or maybe a blanket thrown in the backseat. That's it. Jake probably moved it himself. Someone will have to prove to me it's more than that.

Is anyone else really impressed that people were willing to donate their $ toward taking out an ad to bring JFC back? Not just sending a postcard or an e-mail, but forking over cold hard cash! People love this show!

I've seen it in other fandoms. Off the top of my head I remember the roving billboard to bring back Angel several years ago, as well as full page ads in the HR thanking Joss Whedon and Co. at the end of the BtVS slayer run.

So, not unheard of if you feel passionately about something, or some show. :-)

  16. I think the JFC ad is great - I'm really impressed by the loyal fanbase that it managed to attract. It's just a shame they didn't give the show a chance to catch on. I'm still convinced that premiering JFC right after the controversial season finale of "The Sopranos" almost sealed its fate from the get-go. I'm constantly amazed by how out-of-touch the powers that be in the film and TV industry are with the audience.

  17. Liz, I think it so impressive when fans of something are willing to spend their money to convince TPTB to keep it. Those Buffy and Angel fans are great!

I think so too, Blue Velvet.

  18. When anyone writes a letter, go online or speaks up in support of anything, a cause, a product, a show, it shows how it has changed someone in some way.

JFC is was unique, it was not made for the masses. The story, the vision was what was the important thing.

That so many people are coming forward expressing that they want thought provoking well made television should tell not only HBO but other networks something.

People are looking for more than the mediocrity. The campaign to save JFC shows that.

  19. I am going to believe Austin is not under that blanket. I really hope that the boys would not sink to doing something that pathetic. I have seen no evidence that a person is in the backseat.

  20. I agree Wicked, picture no. 3 shows clearly that there is no-one on the back seat. The pictures taken from in front are misleading because they forshorten the image to make the blanket appear closer to Jake that is reality. The blanket is covering the headrest on the rear passenger seat not a human head, and Jake puts his hand on the back of the passenger seat when he is trying to reverse his car - I'm sure that there are pictures of him doing this before on IHJ.

The way the picture is cropped again provides the illusion that he is pulling the blanket when he is doing no such thing.

He is looked both horrified at the paps daring and a little scared. They must have caught him unawares because he is usually more relaxed about paparazzi activity.

  21. Help me! Help me!! I'm being smothered by a killer blanket! Someone help me! JAKE!! JAAAAAKE!!

  22. Jake was in about 5 seconds of the SNL digital short tonight, which also had Adam Levine, and of course Samburg.

  23. Check the IHJ Eye Candy thread again. More of the same Jake in Car pics.

Party was at a restaurant, Jake valet parked, and nothing/no one is hiding in the backseat.

  24. The new pictures are of him arriving at that party. The others were of him leaving. Blanket looks different when he leaves.

  25. Sigh.

Why sigh, Rattler? I think it is horrible to hide someone in the backseat. I really hope J&A did not this and I'm going to believe they didn't. If someone asked me to be covered with a blanket so I wouldn't be seen, it would hurt me beyond belief. You don't want to be seen together- take separate cars.

  26. Thank god it's her and not Misha Barton (gag) or Reese (sorry Reese fans--DOUBLE TRIPLE GAG).

I'm sure the tabloids will get a lot of mileage out of Jake/natalie redux though.
