Friendship, just a perfect blendship

While the story of Tobey and Jake's squabble over makeup artists was quick to pop up, there won't be fighting between Jake and Natalie. Long time friends, Natalie might be a great person for Jake to be working with. They always seems to have a great time hanging out together, always full of fun and grins. There is a certain natural easiness about them in the other's company. After the last few months, having a great friend on set will be respite from the spin that has been tossing Jake around of late.

Jake and Natalie's natural chemistry should translate well to screen. Their relationship in the film might be easier for many to be drawn to, because of their natural rapport, than even Natalie with Tobey. And it might be for that reason Jim Sheridan cast the movie this way. To have the audience be drawn to the relationship that it naturally shouldn't, because of the spark between the actors overcomes the issues of the characters' romance.

Now what will be interesting is to see how the friendship off screen influences the romance on screen. Having such a friendship make it easier for romantic scenes because you already know the person, or does it make harder, because they know you so well?

Well since you asked, Spesh. If this remake is true to the original then ***SPOILER ALERT*** there's barely a romance between Jake and Natalie's character. The original characters share one ill-timed quick kiss. I have no idea how David Benioff plans on adapting Susanne Bier's original screenplay though I suspect since the original is so beloved and so powerful he won't screw around with it too much.

  8. Morning all,

Great news about Queen Latifah and her partner. Congrats to them. Thanks Wicked for the link to info about World AIDS Day.

Nice post today too, I'm interested to see how Natalie's and Jake's friendship will translate to the screen.

Again, we're on the same wavelength musically!

  10. I hope "Brothers" does stick to the original story. I'm very curious to see how the chemistry between Jake and Natalie translates to the screen. Sometimes people who don't get along in real life have incredible chemistry on-screen while real chemistry sometimes does not translate.

Loved Austin's scene on FNL last night. I really like the way he played this character. He has really grown as an actor. When I see him in a role now I don't see him as Austin; I see him as the character. It's still not clear to me how long his story arc will be. One source said that it was 2 episodes, another said that it was several, and we've mentioned here that it was 5. It seems to me that there are more scenes to be played out in this storyline.

I did too, BV. I was a little surprised by his response to Julie's mom too - the coldness, the brushoff. Austin! So I'm curious to see where this will go. Julie's mom should have talked to him privately; but she freaked because it's her daugher of course. And Julie's character is so innocent. I also see his growth as an actor. :)

  12. I hope to watch FNL tonight. Got it DVR'd. We have been trying to figure out the set-up of a new home theater system we bought. Rrrr. I want to watch Austy with surround sound. Poor Mrs., I have all the patience of a gnat with this stuff. This afternoon we are going to a baby shower. Some of you may remember my best friend that I talked about going through IVF treatments. Well, she is now 8 months pregnant! :)

  13. ^^Wicked, that's so very nice. Enjoy. :)

I hope I didn't spoil FNL for anyone - just forget everything I said! It's just that Julie's mom kinda reminded me of mine back then; she'd go in bodily and take ya out if she didn't like what you were doing or who you were hanging out with. Embarrassed the hell out of me back then, but in retrospect I appreciate it. LOL ;)

  14. Loved Austin last night, but his scenes were way too brief. I sure hope there is going to be more of him in the future. I wonder if he will be back in LA in time for Jake's birthday.

  15. Austin is supposed to finishing up by the 6th of December in Uruguay.

  16. After I watched FNL last night I turned on House Hunters. The couple on the show lived in Punta del Este and they were selling their house to move to an apt. in Buenos Aires. They absolutely loved Punta del Este but they needed to move because their jobs suffered during the off-season. Austin is definitely not roughing it on this shoot.
