Jake has been in New York seven times and maybe more this past year. And even there have been suggestions of having Christmas in the city this year. Despite mix of business and pleasure it seems like NYC is somewhere that Jake does goto get away. Going to the hustle and bustle might not seem like a getaway, but it is the family and friends that he shares the city with that make it a retreat. And how better to hide away than in a city of 8.2 million. Sure he gets papped but there are many times he can come and go and not be seen. It is a place were he has family, friends and memories, no wonder it holds appeal despite the obvious attractions. And he can spend time with his favorite little lady.
It seems that he is not the only one who is a fan of NYC. Austin has referred to it as his city during an interview over the summer. And from the reports from the fall it sounds like both enjoyed their stay in Gotham that trip doesn't it? So should it be I love NY or .....
Will there be a possible "brand new start of it" in the future?
For the benefit of those who missed it, we had an anon posting last night saying that Jake had just arrived at LAX from JFK. The post included his flight information. In keeping with our policy on anon posts, we left it up for a while to see if anyone would claim it and then deleted it.
ReplyDeletePosts like this make me uncomfortable for a number of reasons. Those who have known me for a while in this fandom know that I am not a fan of anon insiders. Some people are. What really concerns me is that I think we need to be more skeptical about any inside posts like this. With any J, A, Jaustin, or Jeese sighting, we need to always consider the source and its credibility. When the source is anon, that credibility cannot be judged. It could be perfectly credible. But we have no way to know. I think we need to be very careful of believing things that we want to believe.
Do you think we might see Austin going to NY to work for Milch if his future series about NY cops comes to fruition?
ReplyDeleteWicked, even if the flight poster had been remotely credible, I dont think it's appropriate to post such detailed info as his seat number, airline etc. Too stalkerish and creepy. I'm glad you deleted it and would suggest doing so in future even if they had used a name. Someone used to provide this type of info on WFT every so often but it was never proven to be accurate anyway.
ReplyDeleteM, ITA and I've always felt this way about insider posts. However, some people love them.
ReplyDeleteWell, my immediate reaction was that I was thrilled to hear that J was in NY for the holiday. I went with my initial feelings, which I shouldn't have. Having had time to think about it, I agree, such detailed personal information shouldn't be published, and we have no way of knowing if it's true if someone won't back it up. A comment that J was in NY was one thing, but such detailed information such as airline, flight numbers and seat assignment is way inappropriate. That said, I hope it's true. :)
ReplyDeleteI do think things with such detailed information, flights numbers, addresses etc, is too much information in an age of so much disclosure. I think that celebrities need to maintain levels of privacy and for both their well being and safety.
ReplyDeleteYes, absolutely - you just never know nowadays, and ITA about maintaining their privacy for their own safety and well being, Spesh. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope it's true too, NETB!
ReplyDeleteI'll join the chorus and say I hope it was true too. I don't mind reading the "insider" posts, I just take them with a grain of salt, although some of them have proven to be true. But I agree I don't want stalkerish details, eve if not posted by an anon.
ReplyDeleteThe possibility that he was in NY also fits in with getting the shopping for Reeke story, which not only keeps the story alive but will show that he is thinking of her even if he is seen in NY around the holidays.
Just caught up on some of the older posts. I got a good laugh out of the Jeese satire, netb's reference to the JDL, and Tom's survival kit.
ReplyDeletethe alleged bauble
ReplyDeleteClick on the Love Collection and then go throught the necklaces. It's the white gold necklace with interlocked rings, #B7013700.
ReplyDeleteOh that we had such info on other items of jewellery ... :)
ReplyDeleteNETB, I was serious about the transatlantic screenplay. Wanna try it? If so I'll pass my info on.
Hey Sistah, yes, I would love to try my hand at that! Sounds exciting. Was I that obvious with the cowboy hat comment? ;)
ReplyDeleteHmmm . . . I sure like the concept behind that necklace! Humor, impudence, and freedom from convention! But OMG'ers can't be persuaded with expensive jewelry, can we? ;)
Also, Destiny, glad to make you smile, but apologies if I offended anyone inadvertently! I tend to free associate when I blog, and I truly didn't make any connection with anything else until after I wrote it (what a dumbass!). Apologies! :*
Not your comment, sistah - the donning of the hat in the store :)
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhhhhhh - you're right about that. Yes, it certainly reminded me of a different kind of trick or treating, if that's what you meant. And we didn't see any cowboy hat worn publicly, did we.
ReplyDeleteI have just starting reading The Charioteers - it'll be fun to try to write a screenplay! :)
You know, they can have Reeke buy jewelry for each other as much as they want, they can even have Reese show up completely covered in jewelry that she all supposedly got from Jake.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't change the fact that Austin had a huge turquoise ring that he wore constantly over a year before he traded it for a ring closer to his heart.
It's just too late and too copy-cat-y (yes, I know that's not a word, but you know what I mean...) for all those jewelry stories now.
They just help highlighting the fact that Austin had something a lot more personal and thoughtful a long time before all this was even thought up in a certain office at CAA.
OT: Benazir Bhutto has been assassinated.
ReplyDelete^^Yes, I had heard that on the news this morning - it's just terrible. I really admired her. :(
ReplyDeleteStubborn, I agree with you. I love that turquoise ring.
^^Sorry, that was me, NETB.
ReplyDeleteBenazir Bhutto was a brave lady. She knew the risks and took them anyway for what she believed in.
ReplyDeleteBenazir Bhutto had connections to the Boston area as she attended Harvard in the 70's. And received a honorary degree from Harvard in 1989. Her courage determination, and commitment to serving her country was never shaken despite any challenges, threats or objections she faced.
ReplyDeleteHi all! Back for a little Austin flash:
ReplyDeleteWanna see him blond? *g*
Did anyone already post this sighting? Sorry if it was!
Friday, December 21, 2007
Austin Nichols (John from Cincinnati) sees his two friends off on their American Airlines flight to Dallas at LAX, and then proceeds to another gate for his departure.
I do wonder where he was going? Not Texas, then? Hmm. Makes you wonder. *g*
Anyway, hope you've all had a good holiday!
Uh oh! Blonde Austy has been posted! We may need to do CPR on Spesh! Spesh, please report in so we know you're still alive. I also texted Tom and warned him, because I don't want to have to drive to NJ when he gets the vapors.
ReplyDeleteThe Austin sighting is INTERESTING. But maybe there's another flight to Austin, TX? I'm assuming the two friends he said bye to were his pals from the Borders photos.
ReplyDeleteSorry that was me. The above post.
ReplyDeleteYouse guys know what this means, don't you? The possibility that Jake and Austin were in NYC at the same time?
ReplyDelete*pulling on my Troll BS high-top waders*
I am checking in Wicked. Not to say there wasn't a list gaspy squee.
ReplyDeleteBut I am fine. Seriously. What? My inhaler.. you know it is this crazy winter that I need it for. : )
Austin and Jake in NYC with Maggie shopping for one of Jakes good friends. Jake and Austin together for Christmas. Friend back in LA. I wonder what that could mean???
ReplyDeleteWow I love that blonde headed guy.
Blond Austin is a late Christmas treat indeed. Delicious.
ReplyDeleteLoving the shirt and tie combo as well. That man knows how to dress.
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas.
The Star story is even more entertaining than you can imagine.
ReplyDeleteSo here it is verbatim courtesy of Star Magazine. I must give credit where credit is due.*
"A Ring for Reese: After months of dating, Jake Gyllenhaal is ready to take his romance with Reese Witherspoon to the next level. He's already shopping for an engagement ring."
It looks like Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon are on the fast track to the altar. After months of keeping their romance on the downlow,Jake let the cat out of the bag when he was spotted checking out pricey diamond engagement rings.
With sister Maggie in tow, the 27-year old actor paid a hush-hush visit to Cartier in Beverly Hills on December 13. And Star has learned exclusively that he spent two whole hours checking out the ring bling!
"Jake was adorable," a Cartier clerk reveals."He was like a teenager with a crush, asking his sister, "Which one should I get?" He kept talking about Reese and how she's classy and fun."
But after pouring over the diamond dazzlers and pondering a pair of matching $3,800 Love rings. Jake put the ring thing on hold and instead snagged a $3,050 necklace from the store's Love collection - a nifty Christmas gift for Reese, 31.
Ready to Propose
While Reese might not find a ring under the tree, pals believe Jake will pop the question in the New Year. "He's not one to wait," a friend confides. "He's ready to settle down, A necklace now, then a ring!"
Jake's romance with Reese kicked into high gear during a recent getaway to San Fransisco, where they were spied smooching over an intimate meal. But while he enjoys his one-on-one with Reese, Jake's ready to be a family man. He's really into Ava,8 and Deacon,4, Reese's children with ex-husband, Ryan Phillipe, and he bought each one the season's hottest toy, the Nintendo Wii. "Jake is crazy about the kids," says his pal, "and he'd love to have some of his own too.
Jake's family also adores Reese, especially Maggie. Says the friend, "She told Jake, 'Don't let this one get away!' "

Austin it's so sexy! Sexy, and very very '80 years *________*
ReplyDeletehjulia, I think I love you :) What a treat! Austin looks stunning in the shirt & tie combo with blond hair. I wonder what he is always carrying around in his shirt pocket?
ReplyDeleteThe whole product placement angle is so unbelivable cringable isn't it. Also the exact prices, it's like reading a catalogue. Wake up jake, please just wake up.
ReplyDeletehjulia, I don't know how you do it, thanks * I'd gone for the evening as well - only checked back in on a pre-cog whim :)
ReplyDeleteAustin makes a beautiful blond *
I can't believe a blonde Austin was in Kansas City and did my family even tell me? NO!(LOL)
ReplyDeleteAnd come on people the blonde hair and those cheekbones.. holy hell!!
It sounds like "We Love NY" might have been the theme of someone's or someones' Christmas. : )
ReplyDeleteOh Special - the agony and the irony of Austin being in KC! But what a great Christmas present - thanks Hjulia! Austin looks great. And two sightings of our boys, one each at LAX. I hope this means what we think it does. As far as the Star article, all I can say is :-( it's all just falling together a little too perfectly and too quickly.
ReplyDeleteThe whole product placement angle is so unbelivable cringable isn't it.
ReplyDeleteI had that thought too. The reporting of the prices really clinches it.
the prices also (in a way) make Jake look a tiny bit cheap. maybe it's not being seen as an engagement ring, but aren't thing like that meant to cost at least the equivalent of one month's wages. $3,050 is about £1,500, which equates to about a bus driver's salary (hardly what an a-list actress would be expecting).
ReplyDeleteObviously money is meaningless, but, whatever its still fairly cheap isn't it.
If this isn't product placement what is.. "a $3,050 necklace from the store's Love collection - a nifty Christmas gift"
ReplyDeleteWhy did Jake go from being a promising, up and coming film actor, to someone who lent his name to sellig 'high end' gifts.
Just very sad..
LMAO at that whole Star article. Good grief. Once again, Maggie's oh-so-important "quote" adds that final, gasping attempt to make it appear legit. If Jake were my brother, my being used as a pawn in these stories would no longer be flying at this point. Maggie's the no-nonsense type it seems, you'd think she'd be laying it on the line for Jake as a means of really helping him. Her "involvement" in any Jeese story is what really makes the wheels fly off for me.
ReplyDeleteThat story sounds like the perfect beginning of the end. We are headed for Reese breaking Jake's heart and telling him she is just not ready to committ and her only concern right now is her children. Jake broken hearted moves on to search for another love.
ReplyDeleteI would agree with that bltb.
ReplyDeleteDunno about Star - it's using prices and brand names in an aspirational way, isn't it, the way they're used in airport novels - and as part of a romantic sell. You'd never see a Maggie and Peter story as schmaltzy as this. :(
When was that Austin/Jake sighting in NYC prior to Jake going to Rome? I'm thinking Austin was in NYC and then flew to KC.
ReplyDeleteBringing the kids in to this whole charade really bothers me. There are ways of doing this if they feel the must, that don't involve the kids. Just my 2 cents.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteThat Star cover sure was misleading, wasn't it? I guess "A Necklace for Reese!" just didn't cut it. Journalism at its finest.
ReplyDelete^^Heh, I noticed that too. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd in the meantime, Abbie has a REAL (and mysterious) ring on her finger...
ReplyDeleteWhy do some of you think Jake is responsible for this product placement "article" in Star? Do none of you realize that Star could be doing this on their own with it as a tie in for them to make money? You're so quick to make Jake the bad guy. If you paid any attention to these tabloids you would get that they do this stuff all the time and unless it is really something to sue about the celebs just ignore it. As for Maggie if she was so disturbed by her name being tagged in a story like this I am sure she could contact the tabloids all on her own. This story sounds like bullshit but once again you place all the blame on Jake.
ReplyDeleteWell, since Jake IS the one that decided to enter into this 'romance' and Jake IS the one that seems to have no problem showing this 'romance' for the pap's camera and Jake IS the one that is continuing to cooperate with this 'romance' he holds a HUGE part of the responsibility for the fact that this 'romance' is still being peddled.
ReplyDelete^^ Um, just because Jake has been seen with Reese in a romance does not mean he is peddling it to Star. Star is more than capable of using the Jake/Reese story to make a possible engagement or holiday gift "story". I know you want to believe the worst in Jake but it may not always be true.
ReplyDeleteI know you want to believe the worst in Jake ...
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about?
Life and Style is reporting that Jake went to SF because he and
ReplyDeleteReese weren't gonna be together for Xmas. Yeah, cause Jake had to go to NY and be with Austin.
Thanks so much hjulia! Blond Austin looks fabulous and the sighting at LAX makes me hope against hope that he was heading to NYC for more digital dancing. ;)
ReplyDeleteWho here is saying that Jake planted the story? Do you really think anyone here believes that Jake personally called Star and told them to write this?
ReplyDeleteThat said, of course it came from Reekes PR people (oh wait, that's only one person, Evelyn O'Neill...)
Haven't you Gyllenspooners told us for ages that Star would never run a story on Reese again after the pregnancy speculation because they're afraid she would sue them again?
You really think that they would suddenly stop being afraid of being sued just because Reeke "came out"? Do you really believe that they would be as bold as to run the Mile High story if there hadn't been an official okay by Reekes management to now start pimping Reeke?
Again, sorry but Jake is not a sacred cow on this blog. There are other blogs that treat him that way. Find them if that's what you want. I think many here understand very well that Star wants to sell magazines and will write stories and put content on its cover to best do that.
ReplyDeletewho'sthat, I am talkng about anytime there is a tabloid story Jake gets blamed for it. He planted it with his PR, etc.
ReplyDeleteTabloids make up stories all the time when a celeb is seen even talking to another celeb. Then they are going out, sleeping together, getting married, etc. Doesn't mean it is true. Sure celebs plant stories but to blame him for every single tabloid "report" is a bit much.
Wicked I am not treating Jake as a sacred cow (although Austin is treated like one - I love him so don't accuse me of being mean to him). I just think many here are very quick to place blame. Guess having a difference of opinion isn't allowed here.
ReplyDeleteI think that the Jeese relationship is agreed upon by all those involved. This is not article planted just by Jake or just by Reese. They went into this an agreement as two individuals. It is essentially a business agreement, so both are accountable.
ReplyDeleteAva and Deacon have a Wii at Ryan's house.
ReplyDeleteRyan is a gamer and he gets most systems and games before they are even available to the general public. He was a beta tester for Halo 3.
A&D won't be too impressed by a Wii since they've had one since last Christmas but it's lovely of Evelyn to think of way to incorporate them into the story.
In the entire time Ryan was married to Reese they always declined to comment when asked what they gave each other for gifts or what "romantic gestures" they made for each other. They just said that it was too private and never offered any information.
ReplyDeleteDuring the Oscar run there was a story in the tabloids about how Reese recorded two Frank Sinatra songs for Ryan and had them played while they had a romantic dinner. The recordings were his "gift".
The story was a sign of things to come. Especially since he was filming Breach in Canada at the time and the senario couldn't have happend anyway.
I think all gift buying/grand romantic gesture tabloid stories are planted. And planted stories should make you go hmmmmmmm.
Again, I think quite a few folks here have stated that Star has engaged in and is responsible for ridiculous journalism in reporting this story. That is hardly blaming Jake. Austin does not get treated like a sacred cow here either. Check the post on 8/24/07 about Austin's DUI if you don't believe me. Most folks called him out and said he should deal with the consequences.
ReplyDeleteFor the life of me, I don't undersand why it's so hard to get info about Austy's whereabouts. We need to dog him diligently. Who cares about Reeke and chain store baubles. I don't buy this necklace crap for a second. Jake probably pays $3000 for dog sitters, let alone jewelry. Austin, put your foot down. Make your man take a stand.
ReplyDeleteOT: Sean Penn and Robin Wright are divorcing. Ted has not too subtly hinted several times recently that there were problems in that marriage and they seemed estranged.
ReplyDeleteTR, are you another (one who knows)? hmmmm
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all and wihsing everyone a Wonderful, Healthy and Properous New Year!!
Sorry wihsing = wishing^^
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone had a great Christmas
ReplyDeleteAustin looks much better than I thought as a blond. But he still owns dark hair best.
If Austin was seeing people off to Dallas, isn't it just as likely he himself was heading off to Austin, Texas?
I wondered that too, ag. I also thought (in less pessimistic frame of mind) he might have been going to NM. He must have missed Jake's birthday, anyway.
ReplyDeleteExactly, "not buying it" - that's the point I was making about Maggie and Peter.
Dallas TX is the largest hub for American Airlines.
ReplyDeleteThe majority of flights from one coast to the other go through either AA hubs in either Dallas, Chicago, or Atlanta. Yes there are non-stops from LA to NY but the majority of AA flights from LA would have you stopping in one of the hubs to change planes. The airline do not want to have that many planes stuck on only one side of the country and use the centrally located hub of Dallas to keep the balance of their equipment of both sides of the US.
A quick search shows that flights from LA to Austin often go via Dallas. Therefore I believe his friends were heading for Austin and A was going somewhere else (to NY or his extended family).
ReplyDelete
