Out Spotlight VIII

Today's Spotlight is on Ferron, because she is awesome and so many people liked her! Ferron is a Canadian singer-songwriter. She is an icon (dykon) in the lesbian community for her folky songs and incredible lyrics. Rolling Stone called her "cowgirl meets Yeats." She's been an influence on many female musicians including Ani DiFranco and the Indigo Girls. A very young Tori Amos sang backing vocals on Ferron's 1990 release, Phantom Center.

Ferron has started and run two record labels- Lucy Records and Cherrywood Station. In 1996, she won the Outmusic Award for Lifetime Achievement at the Gay & Lesbian American Music Awards. Today Ferron tours and teaches master classes in writing. As if she weren't busy enough, Ferron also runs an artist retreat for women in Three Rivers, Michigan, called "The Fen Peace and Poetry Camp for Women."

I've seen Ferron a few times. She is great live and a fantastic storyteller. One of the times I saw her was right after she turned 40. She said, "I'm not ready to turn 40. I'll be ready to turn 40 when I'm 70!" I think this is my favorite of her songs. I have to post the lyrics, because they're just fantastic. Ferron at her storytelling best-

Shadows on a Dime

This window makes a perfect frame
For New England leaves like painted rain
They hold me as I hold this train
All shadows on a dime.
You move forward fast by holding back
You gauge your steps and you don't look slack
Me I'm looking backward down the track
To see us dreamers in our prime.

I poured my soul in Santa Cruz
I ached all night,
Next day I lost my shoes
It's so optional what you may or may not lose
in this pattern we call time.

Fifteen years ago I worked the line
With a thousand more all doing time
While a foreman smiled complicit crime
We were strangers to the plan.

An old old woman ran the gears
She couldn't move
They said she'd been there forty years...
I think that's rude...
'Cause forty years is forty years
And I was only fifteen then.

The work waged war upon our backs
But we gauged our steps and we didn't look slack
One day the old woman didn't come back
I couldn't work so well and they let me go.

But I don't forget about the factory
I don't expect this ride to always be
Can I give you what you want to see?
Can we do it one more time?

Ten years have worn this guitar down
Its ivory whites are now mustard brown
Its face bears cracks from every town
Still it resonates with age.

Where would I be without its ring?
Who would I be if I didn't sing?
For half a chance you spare nothing --
A tethered bird to a tethered cage.

I sing to you to feed the dream
I call to you 'though it's a muted scream
We're one on one projected beams
Translucent future be our sage.

Five years have blazed since she warmed my side
She is my gift I've loved and cried
With her level look she is my guide
A spirit on the wing

Our love has jostled like this train
Or like the moon to wax and wane
But to know somebody worth the strain --
Me I have one gift to bring

I cried for her then I let her down
She let me go and then we came around
I felt us new and I felt the ground
And I felt myself believing.

And now a tired conductor passes by
He takes my ticket with a sigh
I don't think he meant to catch my eye
But he doesn't turn away.

He says "I have a daughter as old as you
And there's really nothing anyone else can do
Do you play guitar...well good for you
Me I play the violin."

I imagine him with his hair jet black
Does he hide his fiddle in the back?
He gauged his words as the train went slack:
The New York train stops here

But I don't forget the factory
I don't expect this ride to always be
Can I give them what they want to see
Let me do it twice --
The second time for me.

'Cause these windows make a perfect frame
For New York buildings like upright trains
They hold me as I hold the rain
Fleeting shadows on a dime.

  1. Many of the tabs have picked up the Jeese and kids walking in the park story. Here's a blurb from the print copy of Life & Style-

An insider close to the actress says that Reese, 31, "has been encouraging Jake to interact more with her children, and they're totally comfortable with him." Maybe that's because he lets them stay up late. "They spent New Year's Eve together," the insider says. "They had noisemakers and party hats; the kids had a blast."

I thought they were at the Rufus show on New Year's.

  2. What was hp's comment in the last thread "yep" an answer to?

  3. Great Out Spotlight post Wicked. And another great listen of Ferron. Thanks!

  4. I pulled out my Ferron CDs to pick a song and ended up listening to a quite a few songs before picking this one. It's been a while since I listened to her and I had forgotten how great she is.

  5. hp was answering the question "but did they spend all day in the trailer?"

This news about what could possibly be Reese in Sante Fe was so hot and exciting that they waited over a month to print it.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Rufus, the kids, next we find out that Jake was really out with "some other people who don't matter" on New Year's Eve. : )

And Wicked --- I am sure you have been up all night all a twitter over your engagement to Tom. Or did you just check it off the To-do list for this week in your planner?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Reese visits Jake on the set of Brothers and they go out to eat. (not that I believe this for a second)

Jake visits the set of JFC and they spend the entire day in Austin's trailer.

    ReplyDelete
  8. We saw the pictures of faux-Reese on set with Jake just before Christmas. That's who this SF sighting was IMO as it was so vague - and I don't usually dismiss Jeese sightings. (And nobody mentioned anything about a trailer!)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Wait a minute...

Reese, the mother of the year, had time off from filming and chose to fly to NM to spend time with her 'boyfriend' *gag* instead of with her children?

  10. This is the part of that Life and Style piece I enjoyed the most:

    Finally, Ryan accepts Jake

Over the holidays, Ryan Phillippe,33, made peace with his ex-wife's new romance by sending Reese and Jake a set of high end nonstick cookware and kitchen tools, because he knows the couple like to cook together. More important wa the message Ryan (whose Stop Loss costar Abbie Cornish was recently photographed with him and the children) sent to Reese, according to the friend. "He's okay with the kids spending time with Jake."

"Ryan managed to swallow his pride, and told the kids to treat Jake with respect," says a friend. "He's moving on with his life."

Awwww. That's so thoughtful of Ryan!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oh the irony of the words "nonstick" and "tools."

Is that what they are hope for when the fauxmance blows up?

And tools is how Jake will refer to management when looking back on this?

  12. Finally, Ryan accepts Jake

Over the holidays, Ryan Phillippe,33, made peace with his ex-wife's new romance by sending Reese and Jake a set of high end nonstick cookware and kitchen tools, because he knows the couple like to cook together.

Now can you imagine Ryan doing this. This is getting to be such a joke. It ludicris.

    Great post Dear.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Maybe that's why Jake was so worried about Ryan sneaking back in to Reese's affections. Ntohing says "I love you!" like a frying pan and spatula.

I must say, if I were a Reeke believer, I would be highly insulted, since PR thinks that this drek is believable. It should insult the intelligence of an apple core.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Rolling Stone called her [Ferron] "cowgirl meets Yeats."

What a great description - can you get any better than that?

I wasn't familiar with Ferron until I heard her on OMG the other day, and I plan to correct that! Another thing to love about OMG, that we share so much great music.

Jake was great on SNL too; I've seen it many times now, and love it just as much, if not more, each time.

    Happy Sunday, all. :)

Oh Man, this Jeese thing is getting worse and worse. Do they even bother to verify facts anymore, or has that just gone out the window? ;(

    ReplyDelete
  15. PR has a way that they portray Ryan. The Ryan themes are: Jealous of Reese's time and attention, (needy), introverted
(petulant), laid back (lazy), party boy (stoner), free spirit (likes orgies) and still pining away for Reese is a recent one I find most amuseing.

They will also throw him a bone and always mention what a good father he is. They can't completely rip him to shreds because how could they explain the kids being with him so much if he is truly disfunctional.

What you're supposed to read into this is that she is family oriented (better parent), career oriented (more sucessful), a one man woman (not slutty), loves to stay home (doesn't use substances) but because he is a needy, bratty, lazy, promiscuous, drug user it couldn't possibly work out through no fault of her own. BWR laid this groundwork years ago. So that when they broke it off she would come out on top.

Ryan knew this and it made him sick. According to quotes from "friends" in the tabloids he knew he would have to take the fall and be the bad guy. Finally though he made peace with the inevitablity of it happening and just dealt with it. According to the original source his suicidal, crying and vomiting quote was about how ugly the situation was and how it impacted his kids. It had nothing to do with wishing he was still married to Reese.

Jake themes are being written as we speak. Totally devoted seems to be the first one showing up. How many times have you read about how much he "admires" Reese, she's "everything he wants", he'll "spend his life proving that". He appreciates her approach to life. He is the "anti-Ryan". It's all about how amazing she is nothing about him at all.

It's not going to be pretty Jake fans.

  16. I thought everyone would get a kick out of this. I got it from AOL.

The Globes Show We Wish We Could See

    Seacrest (Not) Out

Ryan Seacrest asserts his heterosexuality by hitting on Jodie Foster -- on the red carpet, at her table during the show, and in line for the after-party coat check. Um, Ryan ... you're not her type.

  17. I also wanted to mention this morning another gay artist that I don't think was mentioned at the beginning of the month. Janis Ian. She is my friend Joe's favorite and I have went to see her perform three times with him. She actually is terriffic. She had a hit many years ago called "You Learn the Truth at 17".

    ReplyDelete
  18. Reese is on the cover of Glamour magazine, here in the UK. I had a quick skim read of the article, it's the usual PR sanctioned butt kissing, makng her out to be some sort of modern day cross between Princess Diana, Joan of Arc and the Virgin Mary. I bravely managed not to throw up all over the supermarket floor. Just a passing mention of the "romance" but no direct quotes about Jake(because, y'know, she's so classy and likes to keep her private life private) and one of the Rome pics with the caption "their body language speaks for itself". Can't argue with that last bit;)

    ReplyDelete
  19. "Hollywood’s golden girl, Reese Witherspoon, has been very busy – winning an Oscar, getting divorced and hooking up (allegedly) with the gorgeous Jake Gyllenhaal."

    http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/in-this-issue/

    ReplyDelete
  20. The timing of this Reese media blitz is set up perfectly for Oscar's campaign, no doubt planned back in August to help push Reese towards her second golden bald guy. I'm sure all parties involved were far beyond certain that she would be receiving a nomination for Rendition.

Funny how all the ad copy for Reese and her acting prowess had to be purchased or contracted, whereas with Jake every word comes unsolicited.

And it is indeed a travesty that few will be able to discern the difference.

This is putting aside the showmance crap, of course, which is all Reese slanted, too.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Is Life and style online somewhere to read the whole article? Sounds amusing.

    ReplyDelete
  22. as for oscar buzz, i doubt reese will be nominated for rendition

    ReplyDelete
  23. I can't help but laugh at all the latest PR drivel. You can tell it's written for the 13 - 16yr old female set and the effort to back fill is incredible. The best part is all these quotes from fellow hikers. What, did OK magazine have someone standing by to interview people when they came out of the woods? So obviously made it it's not even funny. It's pathetic. They are doing such a sham job now that even dates and details conflict.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well, that's what happens when one part of the "couple" isn't playing along and opts to spend all the holidays with his boyfriend and family instead of his "girlfriend".

All you can do then is just have all the tabloids write over and over again that he spent the holidays with Reese and hope that there are some that are stupid enough to believe it.
If that doesn't work, why not have someone just now remember that they saw Jake and Reese a month ago looking all lovey dovey?

Too bad that just one look at actual pictures of them makes you realize that all those sightings and tabloid stories are just BS.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Late congrats to wicked and Tom on the engagement :D :D

    ReplyDelete
  26. TR, so what's going to happen when Jeese goes on the rocks?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm losing it--that was me. Need more coffee!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks for the post on Ferron Wicked, I know you must be sooo busy planning for your wedding to Tom. I have to confess I have mostly ignored the lesbian music scene because so much of it was just not to my taste, especially in the early days. I'm a rock & roll girl at heart.

I suppose pr is gearing up for that final push for an oscar nod, which Reese most certainly won't get, but hey, it's in the contract. And after that I guess we'll get the Valentine's Day nonsense, which was probably meant to be part of that Oscar campaign too, but now the focus will be yet another desperate attempt to sell us Jeeke.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh rats! I missed the wedding announcement. Mucho congrats Tom and Wicked! Please keep us posted on the saga of your ménage à trois; I'm sure you can pull a very entertaining fauxmance too! :D :D :D

PR has a way that they portray Ryan. The Ryan themes are: Jealous of Reese's time and attention, (needy), introverted
(petulant), laid back (lazy), party boy (stoner), free spirit (likes orgies) and still pining away for Reese is a recent one I find most amuseing.

And let's not forget that the foundations have already been laid to ultimately portray Jake in a less than favorable light. Obviously Reese is considered to be the most bankable and Ryan & Jake's reputation totally expendable.

On another note, I think I'm in love with Ferron's voice and tunes. I looked for her CDs in various stores yesterday but couldn't find any of them and the sales people had never heard of her (no surprise here). I'll be looking for her stuff online. Love the Indigo Girls too. I won't complain if there's an Out Spotlight about them in the future. :)

I didn't have time to properly watch Zodiac yesterday (i.e. with commentary on). I'll start with Jake's & RDJ's. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Request - Leslie Gore (who sang yesterday) for the Out Spotlight?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Reese will definately win an Oscar for Rendition. Best Screech "where is my husbaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnndddddddd?"

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm sort of double posting this here and on WFT in response to comments over there and to tr.

Jake and his management seem to have gone out of their way to destroy everything that made his fans love him in the first place: sexual ambiguity, hanging out with his family and old friends, biking, working out and living his life, seemingly focused on building an interesting career. Someone who looked hot, sexy, confident, real.

The Jake they're selling now is just another closeted actor trying to get on that A-list at all costs, which includes only being seen with that blond, A list beard. Someone who's looking needy and subservient to Reese.

Even if the former wasn't the real Jake either, at least it was appealing. I don't see how the new image could possibly bring him new fans. I just can't imagine that many women find this image sexy, I know I don't. And I'm pretty sure most men, gay or straight, are turned off by someone who looks so whipped.

Wake up Jake before it's too late.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Totally agree, Destiny, totally. And he does look whipped. Even look at old photos of him walking down the street - sexy, confident, shoulders back, secure in his gait, oozing with grace and appeal. The pictures in the last few months with Reece and alone and even with his mother show him hunched, unsmiling with his chin down and his neck forward and every step he takes looks tentative. The aura has faded.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The only thing I hope for is that this is because of reeke and not anything else like a serious illness with his family/friends, or even himself. I really hope the current situation with Jake is fixable.

    ReplyDelete
  35. My prediction and you can take this with a whole shaker of salt:

For this to "work" it needs to last at least two years. If Jake is really an actor in the closet then he will be in no rush to end it. Reese has her two kids and doesn't seem to want any man dictating her decisions so she won't be in a hurry either.

This could last a long time.

Jake will go from being the sexually ambiguous indy boy to the leading man with a power house relationship. Of course he will be devotional and respectful of Reese every step of the way.

Three years from now he'll be 30 and on the cusp of superstardom and she'll be 35 turning toward the elephant graveyard of "serious" roles for actresses of a certain maturity level.

Then it will end and they will go their separate ways. He'll be totally straightened out by then and she'll have made it through those tricky years without once being pitiful or appearing weak and undesirable.

    ReplyDelete
  36. And what of Austin? Where does he fit into this Three Year plan?

    Or doesn't he?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Tom has informed me that he will not allow this showmance to be about me! He refuses to be photographed with our dog children! He doesn't want to smile in pictures. He insists there has to be enough space between us in pictures to drive a family sized van through. He also says he will not give me a million dollars! He has not given me any bling! Plus, he had a lunch date today, so he's already cheating on me! I AM PISSED!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. No bling--isn't that a breach of your contract. And how can he not want to be daddy to such beautiful dog children. Tink is a a budding star.

    ReplyDelete
  42. tr.. if Jake carries on the way he's going I certainly don't see superstardom happening. He'll be a bit part in Reese's decline (think Demi and Ashton).

But maybe that's what he want, giving him more time to run that restaurtant.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well, in order to be a superstar, Jake is going to have to start making films that the public wants to see!

    ReplyDelete
  44. What is Reese doing in AARP Mag??? Give me a break indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Can I just add that I dont think Jake's fate is necessarily totally gloomy. If he just escaped from the dreaded Reesehood I think it would look alot brighter. (like he used to seem intelligent and funny, now not so much).

  51. TMZ has pics & a vid of reese ice skaitng with her kids, no jake. Weird, Ava NEVER looks happy with her mother. Are things that bad at home, it is that bad being around reese?

I hope TR is wrong. 2 years. Jake is in his prime. And he's wasting his life with Reese, with what HW wants. God help him.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Maybe we should all forget Jake. Before he shatters our hopes of being someone different. Before he ruins his looks with drug abuse and whatever else in order to deal with the pain of his own inner demons. Maybe we should all do ourselves a favor and let him go.

    ReplyDelete
  53. blimey disgusted .. that's abit harsh isn't it, why not be more optimistic and imagine that he's rapidly coming to his senses (as is Reese hopefully) and soon they will be parted in an amicable manner, and everything can go back to the way it was before. We can hope can't we.

    I AM PISSED!!!

    And that's my Wicked!

    :D :D :D

Guys I'm in a middle of savoring a royal treat. Zodiac's commentary is a pure delight. I thought the actors, the producers and Ellroy were commenting separately but they're actually doing it all together and it's fascinating. I already know I'll want to re-watch the movie again when I'm finished with that viewing. :)

TR, unfortunately your views make sense to me. I've already said that I think this Reeke contract is for the long term, unless Reese has really decided to change her image (something I'm really doubtful about).

I still have hopes though: that his relationship with Austin is still going strong and that he still wants a real future for them; that he's realizing a reputation as Reese's puppy boy might be more damaging than the gay rumors; that he's finding it harder and harder every day to sustain these lies; that barring a BO hit - as BWF pointed out - all this showmance will not ensure him the fame an power he's apparently after.

Whatever. One more time let's just hope you and I are wrong about that timetable. :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. We know Jake is driven, but I can't see him achieving anything amounting to a long time with this, I think he'd crack for sure or simply refuse. I'm amazed he's made it this far, albeit giving the game away plenty of times. Who he really is manages to seep through despite his best efforts.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Frenchy --

I have been enjoying the director's cut as well.

About the long term thing. I agree bltb he can't do this that long either. And I agree no matter how hard he will try the Jake still comes through.

    And that's a good thing!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I have nothing against Reese at all; she's lovely, talented, and her involvement in causes is commendable. It's just this showmance - I don't get why either of them are doing it. Is it just part and parcel of HW? Jake doesn't look happy in pics, it's like his spark is gone, and we haven't heard him announce to the world that he's engaged and how happy he is, etc. It seems to be more and more about Reese and less and less about him, and that's what turns me off about it. :(

  59. ITA with Destiny at 2:21PM. The thing that bothers me most about Reeke is that it seems to have stripped Jake of his "star" status and reduced him to one more supporting cast member in the Reese show. I can't imagine how this is going to help his career in any way. It seems as though the interest in Jake has died down considerably and I don't see how that can be a good thing. :(

  60. Why do I think that Disgusted is one of our "reasonable" trolls? Maybe I'm wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Tink was amazing in The Queen. She was robbed of an Oscar nom.

I am a waaaay better actress than Helen Mirren. I propped her up throughout that entire movie!

    ReplyDelete
  62. PR has demanded that Tom and I come up with a name for ourselves as a couple. The Mrs, who has decided she will be the shadowy dog governess in the background, says we should be called Twicked. What do you all think?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Or maybe Wersey?

    or maybe Ticked?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yes, I'm reasonable, yes I'm disgusted but no, I'm not a troll. 'Candle in the Wind' was on the radio when I wrote my post, it reminded me of Marilyn and Diana. And Jake, how he's so different yet changing for the worse lately. It makes me sad. I'd rather forget him now and lessen my heart break than later slowly see him dwindle into a shadow of his once glorious self, if he is going to keep doing what he's doing with Reeke and whatever else PR has planned.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ted was just on CNN talking about celebs, paps, and PR. Guess CNN doesn't think he's such a hack!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'm not 100% sure that Disgusted is actually a troll. What I'm 100% sure is that asking and/or suggesting that we forget about Jake and move on is a classic troll tactic. If we're dealing with a bona fide OMG poster, maybe he/she should take note of this.

Twicked? Wersey? Ticked? How about a poll? - sorry to bother you with one more of my endless suggestions so early in 2008!

I just finished watching Zodiac with the commentary I mentioned earlier. I remembered mentioning in my mini-review at WFT that the orchestral score was never intrusive. Well the original idea was to go without any score! Also Ellroy points out how the movie doesn't give in to technical gimmicks and how we're not hit on the head with fancy stuff like split screens, etc. which is precisely one thing I loved about it. This whole viewing was captivating... and I still have to listen to Fincher's comments, yeah!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I almost busted a gasket laughing at Twicked; my gf had to come out of the kitchen to see what was causing it, and she had a good laugh too. Ticked doesn't make me laugh as much, but it may be a more apt description of the situation.

I agree with you on the Super Bowl Tom, the Giants got lucky tonight because Romo fell apart at the end, they won't get so lucky with Favre. And even though as a Jet fan and somewhat lesser Giants fan I hate to say this, I'm rooting for the Patriots to go all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Frenchy, we must have been watching Zodiac with that same commentary only an hour apart, I just finished myself! This was probably my 6th viewing of the film all the way through (I saw it twice in the theatre) and it becomes no less luminous and haunting. I think it was one of the producers who said early on in the commentary that it doesn't feel like a period piece, and yet you are utterly taken to this place..but not back in time; it's seamless as they say. That alone is mastery. To know in the back of your mind that it's events from over thirty years ago but yet rarely think of it; it feels present day.

I think the score is one of the most brilliant elements of the movie. Absolutely not intrusive, it's spare, but used to perfection. The way it's used when Graysmith is walking away from Avery's old desk, having just met the new reporter always makes me shudder and almost cry. It captures the feeling of years passing, events changing and that it must happen; there is no control over it. It just gets to me on a really deep level. Someone else mentioned how they wanted the viewer to experience this time passing without being too obvious about it, and they succeed. There's such a real-life pace to the film that's very linear. I like that there's no trick shots, no split screens, it just elapses frame by perfect frame, untouched.

I need to wait a few days before watching it again with just Fincher commentating. It's probably going to be intense, lol.

I really, truly hope Jake can get his foundation back together again soon, because this film is a masterpiece and he's a huge part of it. He can do more of this, HW, imo, be damned. There'll always be renegades like Fincher who don't give a fuck. Fincher actually put it to Jake that he would direct this film if Jake would accept the part in it. That's what it's all about.

  69. Disgusted, even though a lot of us are saddened and maddened by what is going on with Jake, I think most of us here are ultimately optimists and are in it for the long haul. I have hopes that one day Jake will believe the friends who must be telling him this is not working (and I bet pr is telling him the opposite) and/or realize he doesn't have to do this, and maybe he'll even realize what bad advice he has been getting and tell management to fuck off.

  70. I think Twicked is perfect! Other couples ought to be so lucky as to have a combined name like that. :)

  71. Okay Frenchy, I've taken note of your comment as a regular (but new) OMG poster. I didn't mean to offend. I am disgusted at Jake's behaviour in going along with Reeke and letting himself be used. And at Reese herself for using him to gain on her image. Some 'friend' she is.

Jake may not feel the pain now but if he's lying to himself (like we all think he is) his conscience will make him pay for it sooner or later. And the longer he waits, the higher that price will be.

I don't ever want to see him fall, if it ever comes to that. And I hope and pray it doesn't.

  72. If Jake's management is Management 360, then why did they make him do a 180? Maybe Jake needs to sue their asses for false advertising.

  73. Twicked -

Since I know ya'll value your privacy greatly, don't want to make a big statement about your relationship, (that would be so unclassy, instead why not just laugh off any mentions as silly) so I'm guessing you will keep everything low key and hush hush, allowing others to spread the news.

But if you don't mind my asking, now that you've made it official and everything, what are you going to do next? 1) Go sightseeing at a major tourist attraction (I here fountains are very nice!)along with your entourage, holding hands and smiling for the cameras that you pretend not to see; 2) take a romantic weekend away, and make sure to walk around in public so the photographer you tipped off can catch you seemingly unaware; 3) make an exclusive deal with a paparazzi firm so they can chronicle your every move; 4) send copy to the tabloids expounding on the wonderfulness of your relationship, not bothering to check dates and facts, but making sure that Wicked is always portrayed as the better person; 5) walk Tink in unguarded areas, strike cute poses for the cameras you know are there, but frown on their presence for appearances.

I'd like to stay In Touch with your Life and Style, because Enquiring minds need to live vicariously on a USWeekly basis through People like you.

Sorry didn't mean to Babble on so!

  74. BUT WHUTS GONNA HAPPEN WHEN EVERYONE FINDS OUT I GOT TINK PREGNANT?

  75. Tom - Critically important to make this all believable is a spontaneous piggyback ride BUT even more crucial is that you do not drop Wicked. And the two of you SMILE! You want everyone to think you are both happy. And Tom you might want to smack Wicked on the butt, Wicked screech with laughter when he does and play fight back. Alright people. Happy Happy. Let's make the magic happen.

  76. I'm in agreement with those that say that Reeke is a mid to long term contract. Sadly, the only thing likely to derail it is if the negativity starts to majorly affect their careers.

I personally don't believe that Reese is coming out roses though. Before all this, I just thought she was an uptight bore. Now I think she's an uptight, famewhoring, obnoxious bore.
The two biggest selling points her fans have is that she is classy and independent.
Well the classy one has already gone to ground and if she becomes engaged to Jake (or already has) she is going to look like a woman who can't live without a man.

She's not sexy enough to get away with slutting it up and she's not interesting enough to get away with doing unconventional things. Her straight, family loving but boring image is actually the only one that works for her.
She needs someone equally bland so that when they become invisible in the Reese show, it's not noticeable.

I don't think Jake is fussed about being Mr Witherspoon (after all he was once Mr Dunst) but his fangurls are. In their mind he is A list and they expect that he and Reese will rule HW. It isn't going to happen. Leonardo DiCaprio would never be Reese's man. He'd be Leonardo Di Caprio who happens to be going out with Reese Witherspoon. Big difference.

Ah I'm sick of the Reeke. It's all Reeke all the time here. I mention the lovely Jaustin on a cover right next to the equally lovely Portia/Ellen and it just gets overrun by Reeke. There was a time when a mention of Jaustin would actually get noticed here. Sad.

  77. Jaustin are on the cover on one of our weekly mags over here (Lakers 1 picture where Jake is pulling his phone out and he and Austin are chatting and laughing), next to them is Ellen/portia and someone else is on the cover too, can't remember now who it is.

The story is Who's gay, who isn't and who keeps us guessing? Have to admit I didn't look inside to see what they've labelled Jake as but find it interesting that this is on the cover now in the midst of the whole Jeese fiasco.

I would love to hear more about this.

  78. AG, I am interested to know more about the Jaustin cover too. Please, could you scan the magazine article for us? THANKS!

  80. Ted keeps talking-

According to those who have been brought in on the 12-stepping action, a major effort is under way by the Spears clan to get Brit-Brit cleaned up. This should come as a surprise only to those who believe, oh, I dunno, silly things such as the notion that Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are actually boffing madly away each afternoon. But I digress, per usual.

  81. What does everybody make of the hairdresser pics?

  82. Reese looks like a man in dress. If it's her. Cell phone pics may be funny.

  83. Don't see any cuddling, canoodling or caressing. Just two people sitting there waiting for the concert to begin. Jake's even checking the program, hands occupied.

Since, once the concert began, the house would be dark and clear view from the balcony would be impaired, any of those alledged activities must have occured BEFORE, when the house lights were up, and EVERYONE could watch them.

Sitting in a crowd making out. Yeah, that's almost as classy as sex in an airplane toliet.

  84. Oh, and one more thing...

Compare the picture quality of the Rufus ones to the SF aquarium one, which was also claimed to be taken from a cell phone.

See the difference? See the spin? See the lies?
