The pictures were confirmation for some, conversation starters for others, but one thing they were, they were the most open and candid moments of Jake and Austin seen.
"He makes really smart choices.
He knows what works for him. And the kid can sing!"
"I know when I wake up in the morning
with the person I love, we end up laughing.
It really is the morning time,
the waking up time that I look forward to."
He knows what works for him. And the kid can sing!"

"I've learned a ton from Jake. He's a really sharp guy.
He told me everything about acting, the business, girls, life."

ReplyDelete*I want Atti to move in so he can help me completely recover*
Aw, what a beautiful post. I hope and believe J is getting support from his main man during this hard time.
ReplyDeleteHugs to kacie & glad to hear you are well. Also how wonderful to hear from Heph again. I've missed your posts!
Here is the sonnet that Michelle Williams read at Heath's interment, very appropriate:
ReplyDelete"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee."
Heath seemed to have so much beauty and love in his life, I hope the same of Austin and Jake.
ReplyDeleteWhat a long strange trip it has been since Lakers I.
ReplyDeleteWhat a long strange trip it has been since Lakers I.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm still not sure what the final destination is going to be!
"Grab your coat and get your hat
ReplyDeleteLeave your worries on the doorstep
Life can be so sweet
On the sunny side of the street"
And yes my rose colored glasses are all shined up.
Such unguarded moments. They were so lost in themselves, they forgot the world was watching. I just love these pictures. You can tell it's the real Jake we see here, not his Hollywood persona, whatever that is.
ReplyDeleteHeath seemed to have so much beauty and love in his life"
ReplyDeleteA lot of good it did him.
I guess one thing that always stood out for me, how in every picture there is one part of them touching the other, an arm, a shoulder, a knee. And how Jake had his hands tucked in or clasped together in many pics telegraphing what he really wanted to Austin to do.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe it's two years since then - and of course it'll be three years in March since the first Toothy BI.
ReplyDeleteWonder where the next two years will lead?
Lakers are playing away tonight.
ReplyDeleteSome say the journey matters more than the destination, but after two years of wandering around I wish we at least knew the destination we're heading for. Should I be putting on my flak jacket and borrowing Special's glasses, or getting ready to strip down and jump in the oasis.
ReplyDeleteOops, that was me ^.
ReplyDeleteWell sorry but I think that if Heath had so much beauty and love in his life he would not be such tormented person. Something was obviously not so rosy about his life. Words words words, and a beautiful ceremony to make everybody feel good, but ultimately Heath is dead. Sorry for being cynical, but cannot help but thinking why was Heath left alone in an apartment in NY in a condition of very deep depression.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that is missing from the pictures above is what Jake is thinking. Looks to me like all he wants to do is put his head on A's shoulder and to put his hand on his leg.
ReplyDeleteThey are totally connected in these pictures. Nothing seperates them. No jeese two years ago. This was real.
He wasn't left alone, he was seeing people the night and day before and had plans for the evening he died. Call me naive, but I believe his death was an accident.
ReplyDeleteGetting back to Jausty, I love how in the middle two pictures first Jake is looking at Austin's mouth while Austin is talking and then Austin is looking at Jake's mouth as if thinking about kissing him.
ReplyDeleteSorry for being cynical, but cannot help but thinking why was Heath left alone in an apartment in NY in a condition of very deep depression."
ReplyDeleteWord. And I don't think skanks like Mary Kate Trollsen and Lohan and that party crowd did much to help deflect him from his depression and demons.
this blogger says he's in NM
ReplyDeleteand not wanting to get papped, unlike when she's with Jake when she's all too happy to get papped
ReplyDeleteI am so bummed out guys. I just got back from the pool and a young couple lost their dog. The guy jumped in the pool and the got scared and ran back toward a bridge taht crosses the lake. He was a tiny liitle guy and I really think he fell in the water. The girl who owned the dog is so upset. We looked all over and we couldnt find him.
ReplyDeleteI would die if I didnt know where my Maggie Mae was. Pets are so much a part of your life. I cant believe how upset i am for the young couple and little Vito. He came over to me and let me pet him when I first came down to the pool. Damn.
I am sorry to hear that, Tom. When will people learn they have to keep their dogs on leashes?
ReplyDeleteJohn Barrowman is my Hero! (Well, right after Sir Ian)
ReplyDeleteSome people are Gay. Get over it!
What's going on at WTF? Why all the hate, toward Jake? I think people here realize that Jake is human.
ReplyDeleteHopefully little Vito will be found. Poor guy.
ReplyDeleteGo ahead with your bad self, John Barrowman!
There were never before, nor will there be again, pictures quite like these.
ReplyDeleteThis is what John Barrowman was doing this Sat night on BBC America :-):
ReplyDeleteTime-travelling bisexual action hero saves the world and gets the guy
Feeling Heath's loss, traveling blog-verse, and loving these my favorite Jake/Austin piccies...and though I never agree with any of your Reese/Jake assessments, because I can't bear Jake being called names or liar or anything similar ever, these two men obviously have a great love and affection for each other.
ReplyDeleteThis series of pics, which I saved and posted, oh so many times on DCF were the happiest and most in sync pictures I've ever seen of any couple.
It's just too bad the photographers and paps ruined their outdoor fun...because the next pics of them taken in April of that year, were not happy, but were rather sad and pensive, Jake's eyes filling with a watery substance simliar to tears, and Austin looking as if he wanted to be anyplace else, but sitting with Jake at courtside.
If you ever doubted if they know if they are going to be photographed read between the lines of these quotes. Reese knowing what the article was going to say (you know she had the advanced copy) is already on the offensive with a tough love, sensible southern mom rebuttle to her too sensitive ex.
ReplyDeleteRyan Quote
he is concerned about how his kids are being affected by the paparazzi. “It’s really scarring. It definitely does a number on my eight-year-old daughter. To hear her say that she worries about what she’s wearing when she leaves the house because she knows her picture will be taken…. She’s worried about friends at school who come up to her and say they see her in magazines. It’s a really disturbing environment to bring up a child in. You don’t know that when you are in your early 20s and you have your first kid. You don’t know how ugly it can get.”
Reese Quote:
“We all sort of deal with that in our own childhood or raising children. I wouldn’t want my kids to miss out on any of that teasing and bullying. It makes you who you are".
reese actually said that. Hard to believe any parent would feel that way. Hopefully she was misquoted. I sure wouldn't nominate her for mother of the year. She does say some weird things. Like when she said rendition was a fun film.
ReplyDeleteNo she said it on Good Morning America. No chance for a misquote.
ReplyDelete“We all sort of deal with that in our own childhood or raising children. I wouldn’t want my kids to miss out on any of that teasing and bullying. It makes you who you are".
ReplyDeleteYeah, I had a great time being bullied when I was 13. I was terrified-I couldn't depend on my teachers. I cut classes so I would miss the bully. Eventually I had to go to my mother who bless her strong spirit, went to the principal and kicked ass.
“We all sort of deal with that in our own childhood or raising children. I wouldn’t want my kids to miss out on any of that teasing and bullying. It makes you who you are".
ReplyDeleteI wonder if her kids would agree with her.
OT:Here's Ryan's interview in W.
ReplyDeleteRyan Interviews
That is a very strange thing to say. I have a daughter the same age as Reese's daughter and I would hate for her to be bullied. As it is, my daughter does get a certain amount of teasing from some of the girls at school, cos she's a tomboy and prefers to play football with the boys than engage in more "girlie" pursuits with the girls and I'm very proud of the fact that she makes no apologies for liking what she likes and tells anyone who teases her that she doesn't care what they think. But it sounds like Reese thinks she's doing her kids a favour by making them targets for bullying. It makes her sound very cold.
ReplyDeleteI am not a Reese fan or defender but you may want to actually hear her say what she says before taking bits and pieces to judge it. The video is at Just Jared. I don't like bullying at all (was bullied as a kid and had to stop taking the school bus because of it) but I think her point is that having some adversity can make you stronger as a person.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it Monday and Ted's mail answering day?
ReplyDeleteFrom Ted:
ReplyDeleteDear Ted:
Is the woman Toothy Tile's currently using as a beard also using him as a beard? In Old Hollywood, there were "lavender" marriages and relationships between two gay people of the opposite gender to throw off the public's suspicions. Do these still exist?

Dear Crack Addict:
Get high much?
Dear Ted:
Thank you for being the voice of reason. I am sick of hearing unrelated people demand that Jake Gyllenhaal make a statement about Heath, or what to do when your good friend dies. Appalling! By the way, saw you on one of the U.K.'s countdown programs (100 Most Annoying Celebs), you looked radiant.

Dear Sympathetic C.:
Nothing's more annoying than impatient people crying for speeches. Thanks for the support, babe, but annoyance is in my DNA.
Granted, Ryan's response was a lot better than Reese's, but I think Reese just didn't express herself well. I know what she means - you do your children a disservice if you shield them from life too much, do everything for them, buy them everything, protect them too much. They have to experience things on their own to learn values and to find their own way in the world. While I wouldn't go so far as to want them to experience teasing and bullying, children learn from both positive and negative life experiences. I grew up poor without all of the advantages some others had, I had to work for what I got, but I was equally as intelligent if not more so than they were. I wouldn't trade my growing up years for anything; it does make you who you are and gives you a valuable perspective on life and sensitivity to others. I have put on my flak jacket. :)
ReplyDeleteFor those who want to see it from the source here's the link to Reese's GMA interview:
ReplyDeleteReese: Good Morning American

ReplyDeleteOf course, Reese wants her kids to be bullied. She probably was a bully herself or the cheerleader who tormented the weak and insecure behind the backs of the parents and teachers who thought she was so perfect.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteNow if we are supposed to back off picking on Jake, shouldn't that apply to everyone, or just him? ;)
ReplyDeleteTom: Please. Let us stop using words such as, nitwit, bitch etc. in our posts. Let us all make OMG a better place.
ReplyDeleteIt also implies that we are at OMG, and WFT, aren't the only ones who have questioned Jake's silence or his motivations over the past several weeks, unlike what the Reekers have been shrieking, while using the 'main media' as a shining example of journalistic integrity.
ReplyDeleteSorry but you do seem like you are looking for a fight. Ted has a point here. Jake should be allowed to deal with this in his own way.
ReplyDeleteShrieking Reekers! That sounds like something from one of my adventures. Sort of like the Dementors who guard Azkaban prison! :0
ReplyDeleteSeems to me that reese needs to think about what she says before she blurts it out. She does say some very strange things at times.
ReplyDeleteRemember a community is built on respect.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!
Ok, I watched the video and I'll admit I was reading Reese's words out of context. I thought she was refering to bullying and teasing her kids might go through as a result of the media intrusion refered to in Ryan's comments. I agree with her to a certain extent that going through things like not getting on the soccer team are character building and teach kids a valuable lesson.Disappointment is a fact of life that we all have to experience sometimes. But I wouldn't call that bullying, that to me involves deliberately inflicting cruelty on someone, and wouldn't wish that on anyone, least of all my own children.
ReplyDeleteSometimes Ted should follow his own advice.
ReplyDeletebut I think Reese just didn't express herself well.
ReplyDeleteITA. I don't think she meant her remarks to come across the way some people seem to be taking them. I think she was saying that adults today try too hard to soften ALL the blows and disappointments in life for kids, and that doing this harms the kids' development.
Yes, I'm no Reeke of Jeese fan, but that's only fair. Thanks guys! :)
ReplyDelete^^sorry, Freudian slip ;) that should have been "Reeke or Jeese fan".
ReplyDeleteYes, children need life experience in order to grow, but how old are Ava and Deacon? Not even out of the single digits yet, right? Expecting them to understand the hardship that living brings at that age is rather harsh in itself. I bet Deacon is still in the discovering how he fits into his world, he needs more time to be master of that small sphere before being hit with things from outside.
ReplyDeleteOf course, both kids have seen that world crumble around them with the loss of Daddy. And to add a new person so quickly thrust into that role, a person originally identified as 'friend' is hitting them with both barrels blazing. They were still reeling from the first, I doubt seriously if they've come to grips with the second. (And, yes, I know, Jake and Reese are NOT a real couple, but he has spent a large quantity of time with them both, and, as in the case of Ava who is a smart cookie it would seem and probably recognizes the position that her mother is placing Jake in even on walks and such, the bearding lite still affects both kids).
Perhaps that's what Reese was eluding to with her comment, that kids, especially those growing up in Hell-Ay and Hollyweird, must learn to ropes early.
^^Yes, that's a harsh lesson to learn at an early age.
ReplyDeleteCallin' all Dawgs! Atti? Tink? Feral Cat? (honorary member of the posse) Don't forget, The Westminster Dog Show is on at 9:00 EST on , for those who are interested. Dogs Rule! RUFF!!!!
Fast forward 80 years from Billy and Jimmy to another pair beaming their affection for each other.
ReplyDeleteAs Destiny said it's been a long strange trip since Lakers I, but very instructive too and I'll never regret those days of dazzling hope. Like all of you I have a special place in my heart for those pictures, yet the words "Fast forward 80 years from Billy and Jimmy" in today's post also made my head whirl...
In a way I'm happy to realize that I no longer need any particular protective gear for that ride anymore. Time has made its work and the fits of disappointment or anger that still occur from time to time are rather short-lived.
Tom I hope that little Vito is found by his masters. As the fond mama of two certified pests myself I certainly share your concern.
About teasing and bullying: I tend to differentiate teasing from bullying. Bullying in my book is inexcusabe. I've seen it cause a lot of pain when I grew up and I would intervene if I witnessed it today. I understand that Reese means that children should not be kept in a bubble, and I agree. But since she's also a woman who shamelessly exposes her kids to the scrutiny of paps in order to promote her showmance, I can't help but find her words a little self-serving, to say the least.
Mr. Casablanca I agree that Jake didn't have to make any statement but I stand firm about by opinion that his team's silence was extremely unprofessional.
Must say that I disagree with Ted on giving Jake a pass on his silence. Everyone else close to Heath, even a few who weren't, found it within themselves to say a few words to honor the man's death. Even Michelle, the mother of Heath's child, was able to open up, see through her sorrow, and offer those very moving and poignant words to the rest of the grieving world.
ReplyDeleteBut, not Jake.
Seems as if, with his continued silence, and the pass Ted is insiting on, the statement really being made is that he was somehow more devestated, more distraught, more destroyed by Heath's death than family, than friends. Even more than Heath's lover. And because of this, because it's Jakey, he isn't expected to honor Heath at all.
The Sun set and Heath's friends and family celebrated it. Michelle's back to work. If Jake doesn't share his grief so be it, it's his choice, let'm do it when and how he needs to.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Dawn, too much water under the bridge, to grab that cliche.
ReplyDeleteBut, mark my words, Jake's silence will come back to bite him in the ass.
If I had kicked the bucket, Jake would TRULY be grieving.
ReplyDeleteBut he would never get back that ring! No way!
Austin
ReplyDeleteBack off. This is Austi Spumanti.
I am the only Austi around here.
Oh Austi, wouldn't we all if something happened to either one of you! I hope you'll have each other for a good long time.
ReplyDeleteBTW, love today's pic where you look like you're giving serious thought to giving Jake a big kiss at the Lakers game! ;)
You don't know what happened in the car on the way over or on the way home. ; )
ReplyDeleteKarma,
ReplyDeleteI think your judgement of Jake is going to bite you in the ass. We don't know what Jake has or hasn't done privately.
Dawn I totally agree with you.
You don't know what happened in the car on the way over or on the way home. ; )
ReplyDeleteDon't be such a tease Austi. Spill. We won't tell. ;)
Some thots:
ReplyDeleteWhen have you seen Reeses daughter Ava smiling in any pap pics (whether she knows they are there or not)? Only 1 I know is the Abbie Cornish/wreath pic. Happy much? doubt it. Ava hardly ever smiles and it is far from normal for a child her age to look so sullen all the time.
Jake didn't say anything even thrua 3rd party, ie PR about Heath. Hasnt been seen at any memorials or funereal. Wanted to be silent, 'grieve in his own way' and avoid people. Doing that sometimes only prolongs working thru the issues and the pain, ya know?
I always come back to the fact that he was seen and photographed getting coffee and walking with Reese and kids and dogs in a public park 4 days after Heath died. As for Jake disappearing for Heaths memorials and funereal because he was 'grieving', this doesn't make a whole lotta sense. Something smells like bullshit.
And with all the silence he has somehow turned Heaths death into the Jake Show, have you noticed? One has to wonder if the ice-queen 'anything for your career' lessons from Reese are finally paying off.
I'm not gonna kiss and tell.
ReplyDeleteWell not right now. ; )
Austi, are you the flaming queen who spent several fruitless days shadowing Sophia Bush like a puppy?
ReplyDeleteI'm the real Austin. You're a poser. Buzz off!
YA KISS ME RIGHT ON DE LIPS ALL DE TIME, AUSTY. AND I IS A'TELLIN!
ReplyDeleteI have been around a hell of a lot longer you wanna be.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have the keys to our place in NY what are you holding? Yourself?
ReplyDeleteAustin and I have rekindled our love affair. We're getting married in May. Reese and Jake will be our matron of honor and best man. And little Matilda will be the flower girl.
ReplyDeleteBye.
Anyone in chat?
ReplyDeleteah me gawd dat austi iz alwaz trien ta be kizzin mee en dat thar bak yard at 'evry nite. whut a damn slut.
ReplyDeletean yeh, the ferral kat numbahs r smallr cuz we gots pruned. orr shuld eye say wez got fumed.
Sophie -- you know sweetie are the maid of honor at my wedding. Not the bride. But down the dress and step away from the veil. Put another pin in your Chad voodoo doll.
ReplyDeletegreat now I'm spelling your name wrong, remind me not to do it on the program next to maid of honor
ReplyDeleteBWF I missed you by two minutes, you need to hang sometimes.
ReplyDeleteTom, sorry about that dog, being the parent of two cats I know how you feel.
As for Reese, I wouldn't exactly call using your kids to help beard in front of the paps an example of things that kids need to learn to get by in life. And I do wonder why Ted is being so easy on Jake all of a sudden.
Sigh. Whatever. Austin. By the way, you owe me money for my dry cleaning bill after you spilled that drink all over my beautiful grey ruffled dress!!! I will never sit next to you again at a party. Never. Drinks in your hand is like a weapon of mass destruction.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, got to go. Catherine Malandrino is having a party for her collection in five minutes.
There is only one guy for me, and he's tall with the bluest eyes and the deepest dimples and the best smile. And the bod isn't too bad either. ; )
ReplyDeleteI'm back in chat--no one is there--I'll hang for abit
ReplyDeleteSoph -- remind me about it when we go out for brunch on Sat -- and no I won't tell you what we end up doing on Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeletePeace,
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, the old you/me rubber/glue comeback. Very hurtful. I'm truly cut to the quick by your biting wit.
*rolls eyes*
Soph -- remind me about it when we go out for brunch on Sat -- and no I won't tell you what we end up doing on Valentine's Day."
ReplyDeleteWHAT???? ?WHat do you mean on Valentine's Day???
And take that ring off! I'm grieving and you're catting around with her again? She cares more about her dress than anything else.
There is only one guy for me, and he's tall with the bluest eyes and the deepest dimples and the best smile. And the bod isn't too bad either.;)
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind I'll take these images to bed now.
See you tomorrow!
And I do wonder why Ted is being so easy on Jake all of a sudden.
ReplyDeleteDestiny it does seem like Ted is being easy on Jake about this. Maybe somehow he knows jake is upset. Notice that both times Ted has talked about this he has used the word patience. Sounds to me like he expects Jake to say something in the future. We will see.
Maybe Jake has some unfinished business or contract to finish before he is allowed to speak. Something is not right people dont change as quickly as Jake has. I know BBM was two years ago but something changed and it changed fast. We know it started in Rome but we are not sure where it will end.
I meant you babe. What I have planned for you.
ReplyDeleteA little dinner, some desert, and nice long soak in that extra long deep tub how's that to start?
of course we may need to grab a shower later ; )
ReplyDeleteTRIPLE VD DATE! AUSTI/JAKE AND ME/TINK AND FERAL/KOENIG. TRIPLE VD, GET YOUR SHOTS!
ReplyDeleteSorry Atti, Tink has been grounded for the rest of your life.
ReplyDeleteMy, how these pictures make me long for happier times!!
ReplyDeleteausti fun to hear from you.
frenchy thanks for the hello, the other day.
Of course, both kids have seen that world crumble around them with the loss of Daddy
ReplyDeleteNot sure what you are talking about, to my knowledge Ryan is quite alive and very much involved with his kids.
Kite, I am not sure why Jake walking with dogs and friends and looking very somber freaks you out so much, what is so offensive about that?
All of these pictures are so great to look back on...but the 4th one down...that's the one that does it for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm still 100% convinced!
The second photo made me think J&A
ReplyDeletewere close. I guess this sounds so
funny but sometimes I actually think that Jake is seeing Austin
and Reese BOTH. If Jake is seeing
Reese, why couldn't they just say
so?
I saw an interview with Reese
this morning on Extra and the lady
that interviewed her asked if she
(Reese) believed in Prince Charming! They said she was RUMOURED to be dating Jake! Hollywood is something else sometimes.
I hate that Heath is gone for
to me he was exceptionally talented. Matilda will be lucky to
have her mother and all the family
around her.
Thanks for all the good wishes
for my health. I hope that you are
all well too.
Glad to hear Tink is getting
back to her usual self. It is sad
to hear about little Vito. I hope
that they find him.
May I say that I think Jake and Austin are both handsome? I
have always thought Austin could be a fashion model.
I will always wonder if they
maybe had an argument or something
around May 2007 that caused them to not be photographed together anymore.
I just hope that they can be or remain good friends. Sorry for
such a lengthy post but this is just my opinion. I think it is just amazing that you think up such great articles and music! Keep up the excellent work!
I know that Nailed is Jake's next
ReplyDeletemovie. Has the Moon Project and
the Joe Namath movie been signed
for certain or do any of you know?
I wouldn't rely only on photos, kacie. They are both selectively taken and released, as we all know.
ReplyDeleteNow, since you're all asking, I'm NOT C from London but I have to agree that Ted looked radiant on that programme.
I've stayed well away from this debate, but I think a timely statement from Jake's people would have been advisable. That's always been the beginning and end of my opinion on this, it has nothing to do with what Jake might be feeling in real life, I'm talking strictly about professional courtesy.
Good to see you over here, valentino :)
Oh please, let me - 100!
ReplyDelete
