Jake, Austin, Oscar winner Daniel Day Lewis, The Teapot Dome Affair and the hottest movie Quote of the Year. Huh?

Let OMG help.

"I. Drink. Your. MILKSHAKE! I DRINK IT UP!
" (spoiler)

The line from Paul Anderson's "There Will Be Blood" has taken on a life if its own.

But where did it come from? According to Anderson particularly the lines came straight from a transcript he found of the 1924 congressional hearings over the Teapot Dome scandal, in which Sen. Albert Fall was convicted of accepting bribes for oil-drilling rights to public lands in Wyoming and California.

The line has become so often quote New York magazine is offering advice on it's proper usage.

"The question is, what is its proper use? What situation demands the milkshake treatment? As a sports metaphor? (“Let’s face it. The Celtics drank the Knicks’ milkshake last night.”) An amorphously obscene double entendre, hearkening back to its Kelis-ian roots? (“I’d like to drink your milkshake!”) Or maybe, in a nod to the godlike venom of its utterer, a taunt: 'You best back down before I drink your milkshake, bitch.” In the end, none of these seem quite right, especially as they all omit the special genius of the line’s coda, a burst of half-mad juvenilia that captures the demented feeling of the scene better even than the line itself: “I drink your milkshake! I drink it up!” "

Of coursethe inevitable You Tube mash up clip sprang forth.

But Jake and Austin? What the ? Well Austin can't make one. But Jake can surely shake one.
And oh yeah, Austin would be asking if fries go with that shake.

  2. Destiny, re yesterday's song- I love that song so much and played it so much when it first came out that it is amazing my apartment neighbors didn't kill me!

  3. What a cute post this morning - thanks for the laugh! I'm sure Daniel Plainview would love the song. ;)

  4. Oh man - now you've done it Spesh, I can't get the thought of asking Daniel Plainview if he wants fries with that shake outta my head now! You want fries with that? ;)

  5. I don't think Jake ate by himself. Who was he eating with that he didn't want to be seen leaving with?

    ReplyDelete
  6. He had Atticus in the car again, he is carrying his leash. This is the 3rd time in a row that he has been seen carrying that leash and the other two times Atticus was in the car.

The only time i have my dog in the car that much is because i don't want him to be home alone.

How can you tell that he wasn't eating alone and didn't want to be seen from those pics?

He seems to be in a good mood as he is leaving, but once he spots the paps the smile is gone. I would think the person would be leaving with him.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Well person might have either left ahead or is still there hanging out.

You know blackberries are amazing things. You can text and say ... all's clear.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Why must you always think something "sinister" is happening everytime a tedious pic shows up?

He has dined alone in that very same p;ace over the years, check out IHJ as well as other celebrity haunts.

The only remotely interesting thisn about these pics are the fact that Atticus is again waiting in the car, he doesn't like to have him all alone especilly if he is away for most of the day.

Yes, blackberies are amazing aren't they? Millions of people have them! Text, it's all clear?? LOL!! How juvienile, how old are you?? If he didn't want to be seen with someone, he sure the hell wouldn't be going to that place, crawling with paps.

How silly. Even the girls over at IHJ have more sense.

  9. Why is ?? so riled up?

    ReplyDelete
  10. ^Milkshake and brain freeze?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Probably he doesn't want to leave Atti alone with Cruella DeVille. ;)

I also think it's a perfectly reasonable assumption, and thing to do, to text "all clear" to avoid paps and to maintain your privacy. The things ya gotta do!

  12. okay, so I'd thought I'd drop in and say 2 things:

    1) there are pics of TR knight and his new boyfriend at Just Jared

    2) there is spectualtion that JC chasez and Chace Crawford (gossip girl) are dating....since they ahve been seen around together alot and from the fact that in pap videos they are always awkward

I hope everyone is doing well :)

  14. So if Jennifer Aniston is freezing her eggs until the right man comes along and Jake/Austin need a baby momma, why cant they work something out. That would be a beautiful baby whether its Jake as daddy or Austin as daddy. And Jake and Jennifer seem to really like each other. Glad to see Jake on his own again but I am worried about Atti. He's a big dog and keeping him cooped us is questionable.

    ReplyDelete
  15. ^^ Jake has always seemed to be a responsible pet owner and Atti seems like a fine, well cared for and loved dog. Again, we don't know how long Jake was at Urth or even if Atti is in the car.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think that green thing is not a lead/leash, but a lanyard type thing that could be could be worn around your neck for keys and id's. Atti is too big of a dog to have a lead that skinny. No matter how well trained he is.

What I do find amusing though is the mechanical pencil. Oh so typical of true crossword junkies. Finer point than any standard #2 can write, and makes those boxes look neat and tidy. But come on Jakey - Monday's NY Times is the easiest of the week. Make it a challenge and try it in pen. : )

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah, but the other 2 times that Jake was carrying that green leash around, atticus was in the back seat. If it was for ID or keys, there are no keys on it and if it was ID, wouldn't he be wearing it around his neck?

Agree that the leash looks like it would be for a smaller dog, I thought that when I 1st saw it but then I saw Atticus in the back seat both times.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Agree that the leash looks like it would be for a smaller dog ...

To short to be a leash for any dog.

"BFFs JC Chasez and Chace Crawford hung out all night with some very attractive male friends by the outside bar."

  20. Sorry Special, but I just have to. Won't say anything else about it.

Why must you always think something "sinister" is happening everytime a tedious pic shows up?

That's really rich coming from someone who sees some sort of evil plot of Reese hiding a pregnancy just because she dares not to wear a skin-tight shirt to a premiere and because she had the nerve to get the flu.

  21. Spesh, tell your friend that New Kids tour may be back on!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks Wicked

I found out that one of the New Kids goes to my dentist. Of course with HIPAA regs -- I will never no which one exactly. But the "Na Na Na... NaNa the Right Stuff" was a hint. Hmmm. Who's still around Boston? : )

  23. I wonder if Austin gives Jake that pouty look whenever he wants Jake to make something for him? I know I couldn't resist that face.

  24. The well the word was that Tink was taking care of Wicked while she was home sick with a fever.

I hope Wicked doesn't start wearing loose fitting tops. Or Tom will have some has some 'splainin' to do!

  26. Who is the chick with him? The same one from Joan's?

  27. Yes it's one of his PA's. The same one he has been seen with since early '07.

  28. I just love this picture of Austin.

That's all I wanted to say...:-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Me too max. Nice to see you btw *

Jake's always done the NYT crossword, hasn't he - he did it on the set of TDAT, I remember reading somewhere. He didn't mention the cooking! :D

  30. Can you stop posting such seductive pictures of Austin on your site.. some of us do have work to do you know.

  31. Found what this Independant article had to say very interesting and revealing. Not the lurid tales of Paul Burrell, but what the commentator says in the later part of the piece.

    Just thought I'd share.

Being Gay is not longer dispproved of. Hiding is

  32. I've just looked at the photos on ihj.. is it me or is there nothing more disgusting than the thought of a 'tea latte'. Blame my working class northern english roots but tea should always be served strong and sparing on the milk. Next time I'm in LA (!) I'll make a mental note to skip the the Urth tea special.

  33. Analyst

It is a burden we all must share.

But I am shocked that no one has mentioned how great Jake looks in this shot. Never the biggest fan the of The Zevon (aka the Rendition hair) this picture is stunning. The hair, the dark dramatic smoldering eyes, and the scarf. The boy can work the scarf .

    ReplyDelete
  34. I still can't believe how amazing Austin looks in those photos, just his arms are enough to bring on a swoon.

that said, Jake also looks good with the hair, coat and scarf combo. So a good post all round.

Thanks wicked and special k, this site is great.

  35. From the article ME posted,

But the sort of ordinary bravery which millions of gay men and lesbians exhibit in not concealing their nature seems to have been quite beyond him.

This is why so many out gay people dislike the closeted so much. Because we are taking the risk that they refuse to. They are living in the safety of a lie, while we are living in the danger of being our true selves.

  36. Interesting item from National Enquirer. Jake's friends wants him to get bereavement therapy to get over Heath's death. (I guess a week wasn't good enough to get over his death--Sheesh). http://www.nationalenquirer.com/mikewalker/64015

You never get OVER someone's death--you just learn to move on in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What must be so depressing is when your life turns into a story in the National Enqurier. Yicks !!! that's bad really (isn't it?)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Although on a serious note, bereavement is not something you recover from easily, from personal experience I'd give it a year before you're back to being normal, can't say for anyone else,

    ReplyDelete
  39. ^^I agree, while you never forget, you learn how to live with the loss. Everyone does this in their own time. What a ridiculous story. It's only been just over a month, for those who are close to Heath, I couldn't imagine putting a time frame on it! It says friends and "Reese" are concerned -what, he's not coming along fast enough for her? I knew she was going to be bad news for him. This makes her look like she's got no sensitivity and is heartless. Going to memorial services might have helped with closure, so I do hope he was able to do that. Thank G*d we know that the story is more than likely fake. :(

    ReplyDelete
  40. bereavement is not something you recover from easily, from personal experience I'd give it a year before you're back to being normal

Studies show it can take a person two years just to grasp the fact that someone has died and isn't coming back.

    ReplyDelete
  41. That Enquirer story is just trying to make it look like Jake attended one of Heath's memorials, which he didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It says friends and "Reese" are concerned -what, he's not coming along fast enough for her?" She probably was pissed because he had more than a day to get over it. Time to move on and be perky!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. It can take as much as 2 yrs to move on after the loss of someone close. And some people never move on, getting stuck in time if you will. I've seen it happen first hand. It's too bad Jake did not go to Australia. I think that would have helped him.

Did you catch the part about him being lost in his thoughts all the time. Could be just another step in the he's lost interest in the bearding process. I do believe Heath's passing would cause Jake to reevaluate his own decisions.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Speaking from person experience, it has taken me a full year for the mourning/bereavement process. That does NOT mean I'm walking around weeping profusely every day but it did take me that long to feel normal again after two shocking events for me: 1) the death of a close pal of mine; and 2) 9/11--I'm a New Yorker and I had worked in those buildings (not at the time though).

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh come on M, the article is BS. Like any of Jake and Reese's friends would talk to the NE.

Just an attempt to make it seem like Jake attended one of the memorial services, which he didn't.

He looked fine and dandy in the pics and video yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  46. At least that very enlightning (ha!ha!ha! NE story manages to make pretty much everybody but Jake looks kinda bad. That's a change in a way.

I see you've all succumbed to Austin's Power. Well let me join you; that pic is my absolute fave in the series.. And I love the Rendition hair and (once again) the scarf! :)

Nice to see you around Canadian and Max! Yeah, Mr. Crawford seems to have quite his share of rumors. ;) And TRK's BF is cute!
And thanks for the interesting article Me.

  47. Have you all see the Jimmy Kimmel "I'm fucking Ben Affleck" video? Link to it on ent lawyers site. I mention it because 1, it's hilarious and 2, there is a scene where they both appear to be wearing necklaces. The video quality I viewed was not that great, but they look like candy necklaces.

    ReplyDelete
  48. M, it's linked in yesterday's thread.

  50. M, those be pukka shells of lurrrve! Think David Cassidy from the 70s.

  51. It seems like Jake is smiling a lot more lately. He looks great minus the beard Wicked. Spesh and fellow tbs he looks even better minus the other beard. Lets hope.

  52. Do any of you read Jake/Heath RPS? One of the best writers that genre (and a great BBM fanfic writer too), Kumari, said last week that she will stop writing Jake/Heath RPS not because of Heath's death (she will continue to write Heath stories though) but because she simply cannot write anything Jake-related because what he is now and has become doesn't interest her in the slightest: http://debutante9.livejournal.com/19071.html

    ReplyDelete
  53. speaking of David Cassidy, have you seen his daughter Katie?
She's 21, and she's an actress. I'm a fan of this show Supernatural, and she's in it. If you've known David Cassidy, you should see her daughter now:

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1556320/

  54. He does look great, doesn't he? It's good to see him smiling for a change. And he's remaining cleanshaven . . . coincidence? ;)

I love Ted and his Margo awards too, isn't she a sweetie?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh my God. David Cassidy. When I was a little kid I used to watch the Partridge Family show on TV because of that guy. Of course I usually couldn't make head or tail of what they were saying. I also bought packs of gum that came with pictures from the show. I always put his picture on top of the pile. Then one day I read - tada! -about those persistent rumors that his best friend Sam Hyman was in fact his lover! I found that out years after my crush had died as I didn't read English magazines and papers at the time of my infatuation.

BWF, I love to read good slash once in a while but I never enjoyed RPS.

  56. Do ya'll ever notice that when a new article, pic or tidbit comes out on Jake, regardless of the source, and it's mentioned here - including, if applicable, the dubiousness of that source - someone invariably comments, usually within minutes, telling us to calm down, stop freaking out, that it's nothing, telling us it's bullshit, every word dripping with patronizing condesension and squawking with a derisive to our intellegence subtext?

Call me a card carrying cynic wearing conspriacy galoshes, but I'd say the Babblers (PR/management) must sit on their refresh button hunkered down and salivating. Do they take shifts, ya think? Time off for coffee breaks?

    ReplyDelete
  57. While many more are coming out there is still more work to be done:

Just Jared -- Remembering Lawrence King

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah Mulder, because The Truth is Right Here. :D

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yes Special, I had read about King at Towleroad. One wonders in what toxic environment King's killer grew up. :( :(

    ReplyDelete
  60. I never heard that story about David Cassidy's "best friend" frenchy. And thanks for the Heath clip.

    ReplyDelete
  61. spooky mulder, yup you are a card carrying cynic wearing conspriacy (?) galoshes. A spooky one indeed. Scary

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thanks for the info re the Puka shells. Brings back memories. I must have missed the link yesterday.

Heard the news about Kumari, but not the reason why. Yes, she was extremely gifted at RPS. A real loss.

Ted mentioned Heath again. I think he has mentioned him more since he died than he ever did when he was alive. I keep watching his movies on TV. 10 things, Candy. I did not watch them when he was alive, but can't stop now that he's gone. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Is TR Knight's bf just out of college or just out of high school? Cause if it's the latter - ICK. Otherwise all fine and very cute couple if it's the former.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Wow, Frenchy, that film clip was very disturbing. Heath did not look well at all. I do think that some people have premonitions about their death, that is how they will die. That may have been behind his interest. Or depression as the commentary suggests. Having lost a family member suffering depression to suicide, I can say that it is easy to dismiss its seriousness until it is too late.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think TR's bf is currently studying at SF State University... But I thought TR looked like younger one in that photo, so it didn't distrub me that much.

    ReplyDelete
  66. TR will be 35 next month and yes, Mark is currently studying at SF State University. I have no problem with the age difference :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Call me a card carrying cynic wearing conspriacy galoshes, but I'd say the Babblers (PR/management) must sit on their refresh button hunkered down and salivating.

You are right about the Babblers - they are always ready to defend Jake's honour! lol
