Thanks News Stand for the reviews in the previous post, I especially got a good laugh out of the first one about preferring to be slapped with a fish.
That picture of Austin from Details always cracks me up a bit too; there's something about it that feels more like the 70s, even down to the white jeans (which he looks great in). And then of course there is the fact that Details is meant for young men and this looks a bit like something you'd find in Tiger Beat and put up on your wall. :-)
I have about a month of FNLs on dvd which I have to catch up, but I don't think Austin has been on.
^^^ Someone pimping a model. *rolls eyes* Too cheap to pay for PR or ads. Has nada to do with OMGodot. Don't bother going to the site like I did. only 10 models and pics are small. don't waste your time.
Love the beautiful Austin photos. He could easily be a model.
I've been watching FNL and no sign of Austin. They've definitely left the storyline open for future development though.
I'm a huge Austin fan and yet the troll spends a lot more time posting about and thinking about Austin than I do. I guess Austin just has that effect on people. ;)
Woo-hee! Now this is some serious Austin in the morning! ;) Great post today.
And from the previous post, I have to differ in opinion with you, Wicked. I hope my post wasn't misinterpreted, and that wasn't the point I was trying to make. At least I feel anyway, people aren't upset that speculations about drug abuse are an insult to anyone's memory, it's that at an intensely emotional time such as this, family and friends should be left alone and in peace, from any kind of speculation at all, so that they can deal with the huge loss only, at least until the poor man has been buried. Then, at a more respectful time, if people feel the need to speculate it might be easier on the family. Has nothing to do with it being a character flaw or not, at least for my posts, I can't speak for what others think. Has nothing to do with vindicating Heath or not vindicating him either, because there's nothing to vindicate. IF the reports come back and that what the findings are, so what. The important thing is that he was here, and what he gave us through his work.
I questioned why can't the airing and publication of such things be delayed, and why is the public's appetite for information so gluttonous? It's like during Anna Nicole Smith's death - who cares what was in her refrigerator? I don't believe that ET et al had public service in mind when they wanted to air this thing, regardless of how it makes Heath look. There's plenty of time for gossip at a later date, the floodgates can be opened and people's appetites satiated later on. Why must it be not only wanting gossip, but wanting it right now as well?
^^Hey, I hear ya, pal. I get pushed, torn up and otherwise tied in knots all night long, can't get a wink a sleep, I'm gettin' fed up! Whatever happened to a nice, quiet, orderly hosptial-cornered life? I better find another home somewhere more quiet, like that mansion across the sheet! Hey, lady, can I interest you in some 80thread-count Egyptian cotton? Good as new? ;)
NETB- I don't think people should speculate about what anybody died of. But people do it anyway. There were drug rumors about Heath, and people are talking about them. In their talking, many expose their prejudices about addiction, saying things like, well, if he was an addict then I've lost all respect for him. If the speculation was that he had died of heart disease or cancer, there wouldn't be this kind of judgment on him. Addiction is a disease too. Whatever he died from, it doesn't change the fact that he's gone and people are grieving him.
Re Austin on FNL- I thought Noah was supposed to be in 2 episodes and then possibly brought back at a later time.
It looks like Brothers is on the homestretch to wrapping up. It is going a little longer than they original 9 weeks scheduled. Has it been that long? Wow it didn't seem like 9 weeks. So they are extending filming into the middle of February.
Hopefully when he's done Jake will get a little break.
You are right Wicked, addiction is an illness. However, unlike cancer or other physical illnesses, addiction is also psychological and behavioral and associated, in it's extremes, with a lot of ugliness and criminal behavior. *I'm talking in generalties here, not about anyone in particular* and it depends on the person's level of involvement, all the way from occasional, casual party usage (famous last words, I can quit anytime I want to) to hard-core usage. While I wouldn't call it a character flaw, and I don't know about calling it a prejudice entirely, I guess it can be, but I do think some people associate drug use with the worst possible scenarios, which is unfair. Until those kinds of attitudes change, it's just one more reason not to subject someone to that kind of unfair and painting-with-a-broad-brush thinking at all.
I think there were plans for him to come back for a few episodes but the writer's strike has put a crimp into plans for his character Noah on FNL.
The question is can he get back the Morissey/Chris Isaac/Easerhead 'doo that quick.
The Details picture -- now there is a Brooke Shields there is nothing between me and my Calvin's moment. They must had to cut him out of them. To the Details photo editor - talk about safe cropping, but you know the under edited one is floating somewhere around the Details offices.
"In 2002/2003 I heard that Kirstin Dunst was a junkie (heroin). I wondered but I didn't really believe it. Years later a friend of mine worked with her on "Spiderman 3" and confirmed the story."
I've been watching FNL and no sign of Austin. They've definitely left the storyline open for future development though.
I've been on-an-off watching since he more or less disappeared (sigh). BTW, yesterday while looking for a copy of "Four Feathers" I found a "Friday Night Lights" football movie featuring Billy Bob Thornton. Is the TV series based on that movie? That's how it seems to me.
I'm working from home today as we're expecting 30 cm of snow (1 foot for my American friends - and I'm looking at you Wicked!). Netb I hope you're staying home because of that storm, not because you're unwell.
Frenchy, yeah, the series is based on the movie. The movie is pretty good and I thought Billy Bob was actually quite good in it. I love sports movies. I recently saw We Are Marshall with McBongo. He was really good in it!
I am jealous of your 1 foot of snow. I am beginning to despair that we will not receive anything here in DC. Sigh.
The FNL movie and series are both based on a book that is also supposed to be very good, and if I'm remembering correctly, I think the book is non-fiction.
Special, I've always wondered about the photos from the Details shoot that didn't get used too.
Hi Frenchy, I'm fine today, thanks for asking. It's my day off (yay!) so that's why I'm home. We're getting nothing but rain here, unfortunately! :(
Tinhat, I know what you mean about sensational journalism. I don't even watch those shows very much, because the line between entertainment and serious journalism is terribly blurred, and they could be using their considerable influence to cover things that are more important, but not as sexy, as entertainment news and the like. If they do report on things like what's going on with global warming and things like that, they don't do it enough. I'll stick with my local and national evening news, and even that leaves me wanting at times. :)
Kiki, Eva and the lot of you, take care of yourselves! You're all wonderful and what would we do without you all.
Also unanswered are questions about how much the Hollywood friends who jumped to Ledger's defense this week knew about any drug use while he was alive, and what they had done to help him. Few of the people close to Ledger have come forth with statements since his death, and those who have chose not to broach the topic of any possible drug use.
Seems like it's not "just the fans" who are wondering about the silence following Heath's death.
It was nice finally to hear from Michele. I am sure she will be a wonderful mom.
I am really curious to find out about the results from Heaths toxicology report. I am totally confused. I havent ruled out anything in my mind yet. I am feeling that it might have been a combination of drugs that led to his death but am not sure. I also have not totally ruled out the chance that he may have taken his own life.
They said they found Heath naked. Funny thought but maybe he just decided the go out the same way he came in. People do not always leave suicide notes.
Normally if someone died of natural causes it would show up the initial autopsy. I quess we will all find out next week.
i'm wondering when Heath's Perth funereal is.nothing on the news saying it was held. can't remember the day of the post office jake siting but wasnt it the last siting? wonder if he went to Perth and if Michelle/Matilda is there. a long trip isnt it like 18 hrs?
An that thar is why Ah don't whant my Jakey-poo associated with that 'ol costar a'his. Ah am so glad he listens ta me, the voice a'reason. Heath found nekkid by a common massage girl is unforgiveable Ah tell ya. It just ain't proper.
Found the following on George's website, which I check every now and then, but obviously not often enough. Follwing link was posted on 1/23/08. An if Ah catch dat GLAADbag Anniston smoochin wit mhy beard boyfren at that thar oscar pardee Ah jus, Ah jus don't know whut Ah's gonna do. She betta be keepin her yankee paws offa him. It ain't proper, it jus ain't right.
8:57, They were confirmed as hosts (among other hosts) before Heath's death. I wonder if Jake will stay in as one of the hosts.
By the way, I don't know how true it is but someone on DC just posted an account (taken from someone on ONTD) of how she visited the set of Brothers on January 22 and realized only afterwards she saw when Jake got the call Heath died. I don't know how creditable this is though but here it is:
We watched them film a scene where Jake and someone else walked down a road, a very emotional scene it seemed like. It was awesome to get to see it happen, and watch Jake get into character. They did nine or ten takes of the scene from what I can remember. I didn't get to actually speak to him because he was busy, but we did get to talk to Natalie Portman - she was very cordial. She seemed surprised we got onto the set and wished me a happy birthday before she went into her trailer. OMG best birthday ever so far.
Around 3:30 they took a quick break from filming and even though we were totally scared out of our minds, my friends and I decided to approach Jake and maybe get an autograph. So we walked towards him while he talked on his cell phone and chewed on a stick, hovered like creepies, and then realized something was wrong. Jake stared at his phone for a long time, like he couldn't believe what he'd heard, stuck it in his pocket, and crouched on the ground. We just stood there like idiots, some five feet away, with no clue what happened because all of our phones were gone.
Jim Sheridan (the director) was standing a few feet away and walked over to Jake, crouched down next to him, said something very quietly that we couldn't hear, and helped Jake stand up. Jake simply wiped his eyes and made a beeline for his trailer, quickly followed by his assistant. We still had no idea what was wrong, but you could tell the whole cast and crew had found out - it was like some sort of dark cloud hovered over. Jim Sheridan grabbed his megaphone shortly afterwards and said 'That's it for today. We'll get in touch about tomorrow. Thanks everyone.'
We were escorted off the set by a security guard, who gave us back our phones and camera and stuff, and upon checking my text messages, I realized they had shut down for the day because of Heath.
In retrospect, I kind of wish I hadn't been there. It was like being the awkward friend witnessing a terrible, private experience - factor in famous, talented people and the death of a tremendous actor, and you have a very sad encounter.
The only reason I posted this was so ONTD could get an idea of how Jake reacted. He didn't say anything to anyone - he was very calm, composed, but obviously grief-stricken. I just wish I could have given him a hug and said something supportive.
Ah asked dem ta do it flf but they done tol me they go by the alphabet. Damn. Ay always gettin screwed cuz Ay's a W. But lemme remind ya'all - my great great great great great poppa he signed the Dec-clar-ra-shun O In-dee-pen-dance so knowin Ays better than everyone else makes up fer being at de end of de alphabet.
WHADDA YOU MEAN HE WAS CHEWING ON A STICK? HE DOESN'T LET ME CHEW ON STICKS. SAYS ITS BAD FOR MY TEETH, DIRTY AND NON-NUTRITIOUS. ALL I GET TO CHEW ON ARE THOSE OOHLALA FANCY STORE-BOUGHT GOURMET PET-SAFETY-ASSOCIATION-AND-VETERINARIAN-APPROVED MANUFACTURED SANITIZED TASTELESS KAT-KRAPPY FAKE MOLDED RUBBER THINGS. GRRRRRR.

Oh Austin sweetie it's not Moi dat you get dat in-dee-ges-ton from, it's when ya be openin yer mouth ta swalla that disgustin thang from that thar tooth fairy. Makes me sick to my stomack jus ta think a whut ya'all do togethah. Gross. It jus ain't normal.
TINKY HONEY OF COURSE YOU CAN HAVE ALL OF MY FAKE CHEW STICKS. BUT REALLY THEY TASTE AWFUL. NO REAL DOWN AND DIRTY NATURAL FLAVOR. NO SURPRISES INSIDE EITHER.
SO......DOES THIS MEAN I CAN COME OVER TONITE? I'LL BRING ALL MY CHEWS. AND AHEM, MY BIG STICK, THE ONE I KNOW YOU LIKE. *licks muzzle with anticipation*
Beautiful statement from Michelle. Brought tears to my eyes when I read it. Funny how much info about Heath's personality is coming out now, after he is gone.
The blogger re the NM shoot sounds credible. I guess we will hear eventually if it's accurate. The guy who posted it on DC forum said it was from a locked journal, so he posted it on the DC members only link, which is where I first read it. Adds to the credibility, I think. Falling to a crouch also strikes me as a real response.
*has another dream of Tinky doing a disco-inspired pole dance wearing only a black and white zebra-striped satin collar/faux muzzle trimmed with pink Siamese fur and howling Night Fever*
*doesn't mind that Tinky's voice is actually Daddy singing Night Fever*

ReplyDeleteWHADDA YOU MEAN HE WAS CHEWING ON A STICK? HE DOESN'T LET ME CHEW ON STICKS. SAYS ITS BAD FOR MY TEETH, DIRTY AND NON-NUTRITIOUS. ALL I GET TO CHEW ON ARE THOSE OOHLALA FANCY STORE-BOUGHT GOURMET PET-SAFETY-ASSOCIATION-AND-VETERINARIAN-APPROVED MANUFACTURED SANITIZED TASTELESS KAT-KRAPPY FAKE MOLDED RUBBER THINGS. GRRRRRR.
ReplyDeleteOh Atti you know your daddy Jake loves you!

ReplyDeleteYou better share that with ME, pal!
ReplyDeleteTINKY HONEY OF COURSE YOU CAN HAVE ALL OF MY FAKE CHEW STICKS. BUT REALLY THEY TASTE AWFUL. NO REAL DOWN AND DIRTY NATURAL FLAVOR. NO SURPRISES INSIDE EITHER.
ReplyDeleteSO......DOES THIS MEAN I CAN COME OVER TONITE? I'LL BRING ALL MY CHEWS. AND AHEM, MY BIG STICK, THE ONE I KNOW YOU LIKE. *licks muzzle with anticipation*
*waits fur Tinky's response*
ReplyDelete*nothing*
*knows she's been muzzled and grounded again*
*lies down, sighs deeply, goes to sleep*
*dreams of Tinky struttin her hot furry body wearing a sexy black leather silver studded muzzle*
Beautiful statement from Michelle. Brought tears to my eyes when I read it. Funny how much info about Heath's personality is coming out now, after he is gone.
ReplyDeleteThe blogger re the NM shoot sounds credible. I guess we will hear eventually if it's accurate. The guy who posted it on DC forum said it was from a locked journal, so he posted it on the DC members only link, which is where I first read it. Adds to the credibility, I think. Falling to a crouch also strikes me as a real response.
Why I do declare!
ReplyDeleteHey Austin
ReplyDeleteI'm the real Austi Spumanti.
*has another dream of Tinky doing a disco-inspired pole dance wearing only a black and white zebra-striped satin collar/faux muzzle trimmed with pink Siamese fur and howling Night Fever*
ReplyDelete*doesn't mind that Tinky's voice is actually Daddy singing Night Fever*
