Have you ever noticed how Jakey is one for the birds? And that's not just giving the Goose the gander. That's not to say they are fine feathered friends no doubt.
Every once in a while you will see Jake's penchant for the winged ones. A shout out to his Ornithology buds or something else? A nod to those fellow amateur birdwatchers he is on the job, keeping close tabs his and their favorite flier? Or just proud as a Peacock?
Hooters? Swallows? Woodpeckers? Mockingbirds? So many birds so little time.
Bluebird of happiness?
You know when building nest birds go for shiny. That's not to say his Goose might contributed to his Aves accent.
And if you thought the bird business was a recent, check out this chickadee.
The Disco Duck alluded the blind this morning the work of Rick Dees and a Dabbling Duck for sure. If spotted please inform.
Saw a few things with these current pics-
ReplyDeleteJake's packing on the pounds.
Love the close-up pic of the flowers he bought. (See, he bought her FLOWERS!) I can almost hear the fangirls squeeing.
As usual, Flynet, the official pap agency of Reeke.
3 coffees. Who was that third one for? Their favorite photog, perhaps? After all, they must be good friends with him/her by now!
Jake's doing most of the lifting, even with his injury. Like Reese would carry anything!
One of the tags on the Flynet pics was Wedding Bells. I'm starting to wonder if Breck was right and we get a Reese birthday engagement.
When shall we bomb Ms. Kern? How about tomorrow high noon?
ReplyDeleteJake has a short torso sometimes tends to make him look thick through middle, when he is actually not.
ReplyDeleteWho said flowers are just for girls? We are talking new millennium people! Jake appreciates a good garden as he has said in the past. And has given regular shout outs (via his hats) to landscapers. And you know Texans have be taught to appreciate flora and fauna from all of Lady Bird's good work.
Maybe that's why he carrying stuff.. it's not for Reese at all.
The mystery coffee..Atti? I kid. I kid. You know Deacon is the one shooting back the Macchiato with an extra shot.
I like High Noon.
ReplyDeleteWhen you do Oklahoma you gotta make it a western.
I'm not surprised that there has been a resurgence of Gyllenspoon lately.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that Stop Loss has a screening tonight at SXSW and its LA premiere on Monday.
There will be lots of Ryan in the press this weekend and next week he'll be on all the talk shows. I doubt you will see Abbie but you never know.
One of the main reasons for Gyllenspoon is to keep Reese in the public eye as someone who is desirable and loved. OK Mag had their lovey dovey story about Home Design this week, People had a "Gyllenspoon 1 Year and Counting"!! little article with picture of the headlock photo op. That photo op looked like it was squeezed in on a Friday to make the magazines for the following week.
Anyway, there is no end in sight. Not for now.
Why wouldn't Abbie do press? And doesn't this mean with Stop Loss coming out soon, that we might see Ryan and Abbie together again?
ReplyDeleteI thought it was interesting how he compared himself to Heath Ledger in that mag, saying how he could relate to his pain before his death because he had been there during the divorce.
So, engagement for her birthday? I'd like to know people's thoughts. Especially you, TR. Of course it will be a loooong engagement.
ReplyDeleteIt comes out 3/28. They seem to feel obligated to keep away from each other and not draw attention to their relationship. You may hear "Abbie is filming" as an excuse for her not doing press but she isn't. Not yet.
ReplyDeleteThey are both very close with Kim Peirce and respect the blood, sweat, and tears she put into getting this movie made and released. They would never do anything to distract from her project. Kim may say to them just air it out it doesn't matter and they will show up together but I highly doubt that. They won't outright lie though. Ryan has already said they are "friends and taking time to get to know each other in a difficult situation". The difficult situation is the whole deal with the movie coming out and the potential for really bad press because people think Abbie broke up the Golden Couple.
By spring though you can expect a slow unveiling of their relationship. If they stay together that is. Abbie will be filming in the UK and Ryan isn't scheduled to do anything at this point.
There is no way Gyllenspoon would end just as Ryan's relationship is becoming really public. If anything you can expect a full on summer of love for Reese and Jake. I think I predicted a fall breakup. I'm going to stand by that.
TR,
ReplyDeleteIs Reese REALLY that fixated on Abbie and Ryan that she would want to continue a charade? No doubt that she and Jake are good friends but this is just too much--just to try and one-up Ryan. So much for her moving on with Jake. And why would Ryan and Abbie try to hide their relationship? Ryan and Reese are divorced and she's publicly and officially (???) moved on with Jake--they're madly in luv, heck People Mag has chronicled their larger than life romance (gag).
What on earth is Jake getting out of this? At this point, his bearding is beyond homophobic.
On a different subject, there is a tribute in Interview to Heath with friends and loved ones of his, such as Michelle and Naomi, talking about him. And of course, Jake is not in this one. (What is his problem? If Michelle and Naomi can publicly talk about Heath--why not him? I guess he really doesn't have much to say--he just had one bad day and is fine): http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2008-03-13/
Good Morning, good morning -
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great post - and I absolutely adore this song, one of John Lennon's that was found in the archives somewhere, wasn't it? Love it, and watching my two favorite birds.
I'm a big believer in High Noon. ;)
1. Yes
ReplyDelete2. Because of Stop Loss
3. IDK but it certainly quieted the gay rumors
Jake must scratch his head, talking to his PR -
ReplyDeletePR: Jake, we're not gettin' good feedback from the pics with you and Reese, try to look like you're not going for a root canal, would ya? Put your arm around her, carry her packages, maybe even buy flowers, the usual stuff, show some interest! Oh, and they're sayin' they want a little more tongue. ;)
Music side of SXSW kicked off yesterday with Van Morrison and REM. But Dolly Parton will not be able to join in the fun tomorrow as planned. She is out due to back pain.
ReplyDeleteLittle hiccup during the beginning of half of SXS with power outage from bad weather in Austin. Morgan Spurlock made the best out of buying the audience who had just started watching his latest, Where in The World is Osama Bin Laden? when power went out Lone Stars on Harvey Weinstein.
Have you ever noticed how Jakey is one for the birds?
ReplyDelete"As a sixth-grader, he revealed his initial career plan was to be a bird! "Unfortunately, I was not that great at flying, so I gave that occupation up,", the 11-year-old wrote in his West Hollywood school yearbook."
Jake’s bird-brained idea
Thanks birds!
ReplyDeleteBroadwayfan, I think calling this homophobic is going way too far. And so is ascribing emotions to Jake about Heath's death. Just because he is walking around now does not mean he was fine after one day of mourning. Remember we don't know Jake so to make such sweeping assumptions about him seems unfair.
ReplyDeleteOn a different subject, there is a tribute in Interview to Heath with friends and loved ones of his, such as Michelle and Naomi, talking about him. And of course, Jake is not in this one. (What is his problem? If Michelle and Naomi can publicly talk about Heath--why not him? I guess he really doesn't have much to say-- he just had one bad day and is fine )
ReplyDeleteYou hit the nail on the head. :(
^^and how would you know about Jake's grief?
ReplyDeleteJust because he is walking around now does not mean he was fine after one day of mourning."
ReplyDeleteYou're right. Mea culpa. It was two days. Or a day and a half. Well, he had a bad weekend and doesn't that suck.
I think calling this homophobic is going way too far.
ReplyDeleteIf you're referring to calling bearding homophobic, I think you're wrong and that it absolutely is. Why do people beard? Because they're afraid. Isn't that the definition of homophobia? Fear of gay people or being gay? People who beard are buying into the dominant heterosexual paradigm, while denying who they really are. Isn't that homophobia? If not, then maybe I just don't know what homophobia is.
I dont care if he throws her to the ground and does the nasty in front of 100 people. They have have zero chemistry together. They look like girlfriends shopping. Both look like they are putting on the pounds. Did you see her from the back?
ReplyDeleteONTD has the pics, bringing up Reese being a possible lesbian so once again the campaign backfires.
IHJ has a new mag interview. Rehash of many old interviews but it says Jake was once linked to Keira Knightly. When in gods name did that ever happen. Not sure they were even ever in the same room together. I think they got her mixed up with N Portman. Shows you how screwed up the rags are.
Maybe since they are friends he doesn't see it as bearding??? Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteI have to say the "publicity" aspect of this is truly shocking real or not.
I'm actaully glad this situation is playing out the way it is. The way events have unfolded since Rendition and Heaths death have totally helped me take off the rose colored glasses and see the true reality of things.
WDW, who recently visited CA, says the Pac Palisades farmers market is Sunday. The one in Santa Monica is Weds. So either the pics are mislabeled re the date or they were in Santa Monica. Doesn't Austin live in Santa Monica? Is there a guy in a large white hat visible anywhere in the backgound, maybe waiting for his cup of coffee.
ReplyDeleteMost likely these are from Sunday. It takes time for Flynet to get the pictures up on their site. Don't believe any of the "guess who we saw out and about today" tags.
ReplyDeleteThey do that to make it seem more immediate and fresh.
Good spot M.
ReplyDeleteM and Clarity, ITA. The pounds, man he needs to shape up. If you think Reese has a big behind you should see her upper arms. You'd never know it but they are flabby as hell. Meow! :D
ReplyDeleteM did you see her nape? The Romi hair blogger said she had a good blonde hair base. Never knew black hair was a good base for blonde. If the romance is real and Jake likes blondes well he got the shock of his life when they had sex in daytime/with the lights on. Double meow!
M --
ReplyDeleteI was referring to the farmer's markets schedules and the man in big (not yellow) hat.
http://www.people.com/people/gallery/0,,20183781,00.html
ReplyDeleteI'm terrible. :D
ReplyDeleteThe way the crowd looks, it looks like a Sunday not a middle of the week day. Easy enuff to check the FM schedules.
ReplyDeleteA little ying (Jeese) to the yang (Austin) when you look at the week.
ReplyDeleteSo, IHJ has the whole set now.
ReplyDeleteThe Palisades and the paps? I smell photo op, or something on my shoe.
ReplyDeleteThe Palisades and the paps? I smell photo op, or something on my shoe.
ReplyDeleteIs the Pallisades a place where celebs are frequently papped? I have no idea where it is in relation to L. A.
Maybe since they are friends he doesn't see it as bearding??? Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteTo me, if you are pretending to be in a straight relationship when you are really gay, as I think Jake is, you are bearding. Doesn't matter if you're friends or not, although being friends with your beard would be nice. I think at this point no one can make the argument that they were just friends all along and they never meant to be seen as a couple. They absolutely are trying to be seen as a couple.
ITA with Wicked and BWF, bearding is homophobic. What Jake is basically doing is endorsing the idea that the only way to be accepted and get ahead is to be part of a straight couple; by the way it is also a slam against people who are currently and/or choose to be single.
ReplyDeleteREM pays tribute to Heath at SXSW
ReplyDeleteCome on Broadwayfan. We don't know how Jake felt about Heat.h Just because he didn't do what you wanted him to do regarding Heath's death does not mean he wasn't mourning or that he didn't do anything to give condolences to Heath's family and other friends.
ReplyDeleteWicked (and Destiny) you can consider bearding homophobic but that doesn't mean Jake should be accused of being so. Again, we don't know him or anything about his sexuality. Despite all the rumors none of it makes it the reality for Jake.
I just think all these accusations are harsh. No one says you have to love everything Jake does but to paint him and accuse him of things that may not be true seems unfair. IE taking down Guisi's videos, saying he deserves to be hurt, etc.
M, there didn't seem to be any truth to it but there were rumors of Jake and Keira K. during the BBM awards season.
I just think all these accusations are harsh.
ReplyDeleteAgain,
FYI - this isn't Gyllenbabble blog.
Since Jake's legs are shaved he must still be bicycling even though we never get any pictures anymore. Just the way we don't get lots of other pictures of things (or people) we're pretty sure Jake is still doing. :D
ReplyDeleteWicked (and Destiny) you can consider bearding homophobic but that doesn't mean Jake should be accused of being so.
ReplyDeleteYes it does. If bearding is homophobic and Jake is engaged in bearding, and I think he is, then he is homophobic. Do you really think it's possible for someone to engage in homophobic behavior and not be homophobic themselves? I don't. I also think Austin is participating in this too, so he is also homophobic. I think the two of them have decided this is what they have to do for right now. The whole situation makes me sad for everyone.

you said it sister.
Looks like Lainey agrees with TR at least about why these pictures are popping up. Although she earns her pay and states the love is "real".
ReplyDeleteMcGyllenspoon
If the crazy McGoslings haven’t yet offed themselves in mass suicide, perhaps they’d like to transfer their obsession onto Reese and Jake who are equally as cute, if not a little disingenuous. Not that their love isn’t real…because it is…but they also don’t mind showing it off when it suits, like they did yesterday at the market.
Flynetonline.com spotted the two arm in arm and rather domestic, buying flowers, stopping for coffee, in no hurry and enjoying the day…nevermind that Ryan Phillippe’s new movie Stop Loss comes out in 2 weeks. Not that that has anything to do with anything either.
Reese Witherspoon wouldn’t treat her ex husband with anything but civility and graciousness… right?

ReplyDeleteThe Gyllenbobbleheads think she's pregnant because of the new pics!
You know do Palisades Park is in Santa Monica.
ReplyDeleteIf 'again' isn't UV then I'm the fucking Pope.
ReplyDeleteThat's you do know Palisades Park is in Santa Monica.
ReplyDeletedys mapquester I can tell you're not in LA. Becuz Palisades Park is a PARK. not a farmers market location. But good try.
ReplyDeletePacific Palisades is a district within the U.S. city of Los Angeles, California, located between Brentwood to the east, Malibu to the west, Santa Monica to the southeast, the Santa Monica Bay to the southwest, and the Santa Monica Mountains to the north. The area currently has about 27,000 residents. It is a very affluent and primarily residential area, with a mixture of large private homes, small (usually older) houses, condominiums, and apartments. It has a small central business district on Sunset Boulevard--consisting of restaurants, stores, banks, and offices--known as the "village." It also includes some large parklands and many hiking trails. Palisades Charter High School serves the neighborhood. It is known as "Where The Mountains Meet the Sea." Notable shops in the village include PaliSkate, Benton's Sporting Goods, Mort's Palisades Deli (now closed, but re-opening as the Village Pantry) and Village Books on Swarthmore Street.
ReplyDeleteBasketball the new backgammon?
ReplyDeleteWhat's interesting to me is that some time between flying back to LA and these photographs, Jake injured his ankle. He clearly injured it in the course of his real life, and it went completely under the radar. No hospitalblog emerged to tell us about Reese nursing him and how tiny/adorable she was, etc, it just happened as part of his real, regular life and now is an inevitable part of the new photo op. I find that interesting.
ReplyDeleteKeira Knightley, as an Oscar co-nominee, spent an evening nattering with Jake at a party, so that's *obviously* a relationship. Mischa Barton got his number at the Baftas and this was interpreted by a London newspaper as her being ready to "fly into Jake's arms". I also read a report recently about Sienna Miller "snubbing" Kate Moss by going on holiday with her boyfriend Rhys Ifans instead, and guess what, this was to where Rhys Ifans was filming! (with Austin). You have to laugh, really. I wonder how people whose job it is to make these things up live with themselves, though.
Please let's not turn OMG into WFT :(
ReplyDeleteI'm telling you, Reese is carrying Jake and Austin's love child.
ReplyDeleteBecause london, a spranged ankle is no biggie, not even for HW.
ReplyDeleteThe only interesting thing is that his people actually responded to the NY Post when asked about his boo-boo, a non-story but they couldn't even release a statement via him regarding Heath.
BTW: I think that it's wonderful regarding Michelle, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Naomi Watts, talking about Heath in Interview magazine. No Jake, eh? And you know they contacted him, what a friggin tool.
Who the hell cares about his latest photo op (the "injury" is probably fake too), or where the hell he and Reese were buying flowers at.
Not that their love isn’t real…because it is…but they also don’t mind showing it off when it suits, like they did yesterday at the market.
ReplyDeleteYou know, at least Lainey's consistent. She has been saying all along that the Reeke romance is real but that they pimp it out for the cameras.
You can disagree with other commenters but please respectfully disagree.
ReplyDeleteThere is no need to disparage someone else to get your own point across.
Thanks Spesh *, I'm not bothered by the disparaging but I wonder why the poster changes his mind so often.
ReplyDeleteYou heard it, noooo! Please not if it's Austin's - that would be wrong. Jake can do what he likes, I've given up :D :D
I agree, Please.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Please.
ReplyDeleteI agree Wicked that what Austin is doing is not right either. However imo it is all about Jake's convincing himself he needs to do this, and not because Austin wants to do this. Unfortunately this is one of those decisions that for a public couple has to be about "us" not "me".
ReplyDeleteAnyway blinders, the point I was making was had there been an opportunity for a hospital photo or blog with Reese, it would have happened. Not that a sprained ankle is a biggie. The point was it happened in that part of his life that's not observed, and that's a hell of a lot of it, IMO.
ReplyDeleteA hospital photo op? A blog? That would mean a nurse or doctor blogging and they would lose there jobs.
ReplyDelete99% of Jake and yes, Reese's life is not on display, what you see and hear is stuff they want people to see and hear IMO. That holds true for most celebrities.
Again, his people saw fit to comment on his silly "injury" and not Heath's death, that's my point not looking at lame-ass pics of them shopping.
"the "injury" is probably fake too"
ReplyDeleteunfortunely...i had this same thought as well
sorry..i meant unfortunately
ReplyDeleteI don't think Jake is faking his injury. He doesn't need to do that.
ReplyDeleteNo, there's no reason for that.
ReplyDeleteI know and I feel bad for saying it...but it did cross my mind...funny how we(and im including myself here)can believe a fake relationship and not a fake injury....just crazy thoughts crossing my mind..
ReplyDeleteJake gets what, exactly, out of faking a relationship?
ReplyDeleteA hospital photo op? A blog? That would mean a nurse or doctor blogging and they would lose there jobs.
ReplyDeleteWhat about other people who might be at the hospital/doctor's office with him? They have no duty to protect Jake's privacy.
Sorry, that should be Jake gets what, exactly, out of faking an injury?
ReplyDeleteGot bearding on the brain, I guess!
Eonline's story on friends paying tribute to Heath in the new Interview mag. I love what Amy Pascal says (and what Sean Penn says):http://www.eonline.com/gossip/hum/detail/index.jsp?uuid=2e0657c9-9f6a-4436-af27-79e0b3ae857b

I find it very interesting, too, at this point you could almost consider it abstract thinking! It's a window into the down-time we used to see. How he got the injury, perhaps.
The photo that's a close-up of the bouquet made me chuckle. It's like a torch representing their relationship: just as oddly tied and does-not-occur-in-nature as the flowers.
Could Ted get anymore boring?
ReplyDeleteSure he could. All his columns could be about the impending Reeke nuptials after Jake proposes to her on her birthday.
It's like a torch representing their relationship: just as oddly tied and does-not-occur-in-nature as the flowers.
ReplyDeleteLove this! :) :D
As a sixth-grader, he revealed his initial career plan was to be a bird! "Unfortunately, I was not that great at flying, so I gave that occupation up,", the 11-year-old wrote in his West Hollywood school yearbook."
Did he say what kind of bird? Being a boy I guess he was dreaming of eagles or falcons. :)
Personally I'm fond of chickadees and robins. The first because they're tough little things who are extremely friendly and elegant, the second because they're astounding singers and seeing them on my lawn means spring is at the door. Not to
mention that they both eat tons of mosquitos and other flying pests.
And this guys was my belated contributon for today. ;)
Another thing I find funny is the OK mag article about how Reese is learning to decorate. They are trying to make it sound like some couple getting their first apartment together. She's 32, about to turn 33, I think, and has lived in that house about 8 yrs or so. Besides, at $20mil per movie, she can afford to hire a decorator.
ReplyDelete^^Where's the fun in that? It's better to feather your own nest! ;)
ReplyDeleteA few comments:
ReplyDelete1. Special K: This post is way too good. Chirp Chirp.
2. I have quite a few friends (25-30-year olds) who have come out to their families and friends, but will come out at work only after they are completely sure that their professional goals are safeguarded. They do show up at parties with "girlfriends" i.e. they are bearding just for those 3 or 4 hours. I do not consider them to be homophobic. Yes, they are "afraid" but IMO, homophobia can not be a simplistic linear concept.
3. I am more concerned about the homophobia that causes bullet holes, black eyes and knife stabs.
4. It is possible that men and women perceive homophobia differently. E.g., many men can never fully understand the trauma associated with rape. Therefore, any hypothesis put forth by these men can always be challenged by women.
5. Private grief is private. Period.
6. How many men posting in this blog are 20-30 years old and openly gay (including work)? If there are some, how are we making sweeping statements about their predicaments without inviting their inputs first?
Case in point: Valentino. Is Valentino homophobic? IMO, No.

ReplyDeleteWarshag's parody of Jake's private mourning of Heath.
Still wondering about that 3rd cup of coffee.
ReplyDeleteThe pics for sure look staged. And all the criticisms of the Brentwood/NYC pics were corrected -chokehold, smiling, tongue, looking more relaxed, touching, Reese with smaller purse, Jake carrying bags, etc.
ITA with TR re the Ryan P. film and Reeke timing.
Can't believe Flynet doesn't know where and when pics were taken. Big difference from Weds and Sun, Santa monica and PPalisades.
Flynet and a few sites/blogs got the pics. No majorr gossip sites bothered. Hardly any comments. Does this mean people don't care or they're accepting Reeke/Jeese or think they're boring?
Jake is looking a little worse for wear. Cannes was less than a year ago, biking with 2 buddies a year and a half. look at those pics, look at him now.
If he gets engaged, his fan sites will vanish. Maybe its what he wants, to be taken seriously as an actor and not a pretty boy. Methinks shutting down his sites is what this is really about, so people don't talk about his personal life, don't discuss gay/str8. At any rate the fan interest in him is dying so if that's what he wants, its working.
Hamlet:
ReplyDeleteMadam, how like you this play?
Queen:
The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
yawn Tom, you are so right. Ted is f... boring these days. And I think he has dropped completely the TT saga. For all the comments about how staged and all that, there is nada to support the J&A fairy tale.
ReplyDeleteWho the hell cares about his latest photo op (the "injury" is probably fake too), or where the hell he and Reese were buying flowers at.
ReplyDeleteyou, obviously otherwise why would you write about it?
Hey guys, I have to agree with Rattler that the definition of homophobic is being used in too broad a sense. In Jake's case it does seem like fear of discrimination more than anything else, which is pretty reasonable. Do I like seeing him carry on like this for the cameras with Reese? No. Do I understand the desire to divert attention away from his real life? Yes. Its sad that this is still going on in Hollywood but I don't think its entirely fair to blame Jake. He's a victim here too in many ways. In regards to his grieving for Heath, I think his behaviour is quite odd to say the least, but without knowing why he is remaining silent I cant' assume the worst. Its just something I don't understand. I do feel somehow Reese has influenced this silence...but again I don't know the real story behind this. I also hold out hope Jake will redeem himself and do something to show his love and respect for Heath...and for himself too. It's all up to Jake but that is my hope.
ReplyDeleteAnd just to add I still find myself getting angry and frustrated with Jake and this whole Reese situation as well as his silence about Heath. I'm just trying to not assume the worst because I truly hope there is light at the end of the tunnel and things aren't as bad as they currently "look". Only time will tell I suppose. Good night all.
ReplyDeleteAnd just to add I still find myself getting angry and frustrated with Jake and this whole Reese situation as well as his silence about Heath.
ReplyDeleteI am disappointed with Jake's behavior too. The dude can definitely do better than this. But I am also trying to manage my disappointment and striving to be less judgmental. This is how I treat my family and friends. That is all.
I will wait to hear his and Austin's POV, and meanwhile will continue to enjoy the wonderful posts by Special K and Wicked everyday.
Just want to say, Rattler, I agree with your points.
ReplyDeleteI have a good friend who is still struggling with his sexuality, even though all friends know he's gay (it's more of a knowing but not saying anything), sometimes he would show up with a girl who he barely introduce to his friends, and no one knows what to day. We are all giving him space to come to terms. I am not saying what he does is right, but I do "get him"....
Some friends have little patience for his behaviour, that's understandable as well. But still, I always think that coming out should be private and personal decision, not a community service.
Case in point: Valentino. Is Valentino homophobic? IMO, No.
ReplyDeleteValentino is not bearding. I see a difference between not saying anything about your sexuality (remaining closeted) and presenting a fake sexuality (bearding), and one that you know is fake, to the world.
There is also a difference between struggling with your sexuality, i. e., not being sure what it is, and being afraid of the consequences of coming out. I understand those who struggle may engage in some odd looking behavior at times. I don't think Jake is struggling. I think he knows who he is and has made this decision.
Rattler,
ReplyDeleteYou are correct. I'm not a gay man, so my perception on the subject of coming out is a trifle skewed.
I am, however, the mother of a gay son. He began questioning at 15, by 17 he accepted and embraced his homosexuality, never once thinking of hiding or lieing. "Yeah, being gay is only one part of me," he once told a friend, "but you're going to like me for ALL of what I am, not just the parts that you accept."
I'm not a gay man, but I am the professor of many, one who was disowned by his parents, had his apartment trashed, his car vandalized and has been beaten up on three separate occasions because he refuses to comform to what others think he should be. "Why should I apologize for what G*d created? Not giving the haters that much power over me."
I'm not a gay man, but I am the fan of those, like David Hyde Pierce and BD Wong, who have chosen to live quietly with partners, and not bow to HW's standard compromises for success. I'm a fan of TR Knight and Neil Patrick Harris, who refused to step back into The Closet once that door was opened for them. I adore Sir Ian McKellan, an outspoken advocate for gay rights, and of John Barrowman who's been with his partner for 16 years, both enjoying tremendous careers.
Not a gay man, but my life has been enriched and blessed by many who I'm proud to call hero.
Rules.
ReplyDeleteHiding is okay, faking is not.
Oral sex is okay, penetrative sex is not.
Stealing and not getting caught is okay, stealing and getting caught is not okay.
Struggling is okay. Not struggling is not okay.
To me, compassion overrules every other rule.
Me: After all said and done, you are not the gay man. Let him be - let him define his sexuality on his own terms. Let the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, lovers step aside. Let love and compassion do their wonders.
In all honesty you can't know or truly declare another persons sexuality. None of us know Jake (or Austin) or what he thinks about it. Maybe he considers himself bisexual, maybe he doesn't consider it about gay or straight but about the individual (be it man or woman). Whatever the case, it is for Jake to say or feel about his own sexuality. I think we can speculate but should not judge someone else because we are not in their shoes.
ReplyDeleteSame goes for his not speaking out about Heath. We don't know the circumstances and he doesn't owe us anything.
Would you want someone to do that to you if you lost a friend? I know I wouldn't.
But Jake doesn't want to live the quiet life, he wants to make the A-list.
ReplyDeletePrivate grief? Do we know that for a fact?
I think Ted has been muzzled.
Is it a coincidence that Giusi's videos disappeared now?
Thought there were no coincidences in HW
And yes, I agree that if Austin knows and agrees to the bearding he's to blame too.
"After all said and done, you are not the gay man. Let him be - let him define his sexuality on his own terms."
ReplyDeleteI don't think Jake is struggling with his sexuality. Manipulating the public, I think is closer to the truth. If he's struggling, it's one hell of a public struggle! Why is that?
Sorry Flf but all of that is speculation. You are making those accusations but we don't know any of it for sure.
ReplyDeleteAgree it's all speculation but I do draw conclusions and make opinions on what is presented to me. and I think you have to admit that Jakes has a very public relationship with Reese. Why is that necessary?
