Blondes, Bells, and Bubbles?

Yet another OK story and the news that Jake was shooting a wedding scene for Nailed, (no worries, Jake's again not the groom) from Nicole's reports on Wet Dark and Wild (WDW), complete with blowing bubbles. Stop me if you think you heard this one before.

Somehow this pretend wedding works.

Ok you two your married. Look happy. And Action...

Jake that looks like surprised. Happy. Marley, eyes open.

Now Jake that just looks terrified.

Jake just look at camera and smile this isn't the real deal.
Gotcha.

Hey Jake the camera guy is ordained.
Yeah right.

There's happy. See really married isn't bad.
What do you mean the really?!?

  1. Hey at least I got to finally use caps from Bubble Boy!

  2. "I can't understand why the high school level the whole sham relationship is being marketed to either. Is that the POP demographic? Jake did TRL last year or so and it struck me he was a bit too old for the crowd. Looked a little creepy."

Um, you may want to tell that to the many well respected actors (many who are much older than Jake like RDJ and Gwyneth Paltrow) who have recently done TRL. Are they being a little creepy? The pics of them are always up on JustJared. It can be part of the job to promote a movie.

  3. Woot! Bubble Boy 4-Ever!

If and when Nailed is released, I hope we get to see Jake using his facial features like this. BB proved he's got a face - not to mention the timing and a subtle touch - for comedy.

And it's always great hearing The Smiths; this song is one of my favourites. It has a fantastic video, too.

  4. Cute post today - love Bubble Boy! I'm just struck by how expressive Jake's face is - he's made for acting, comedy, drama, anything. One of my favorite Smiths songs too. :)

  5. I love that Smiths song. :)

And the wide-eyed Jake Bubble boy pics.

  6. Bubble Boy always makes me smile when I think of it. It's a shame it's taken him this long to do another comedy. And I'm enjoying seeing the indie boy/care-free Jake.

  7. When I first saw it, I remember thinking how cute Jake looked at the end of Bubble Boy. A noticable difference from the earlier part of the film. I have been on the fence about Nailed, but the thought of Jake in a white suit changed all that. Now I want to see it for sure.

  8. I found Bubble Boy surprisingly good. The "$500 DOLLAR!!!" part was worth it right there.

I think Jake has a talent for comedy and I'd enjoy seeing him in the right comedy. Not sure if Nailed is it but I do tend to like Russell so I'll give it a chance.

  9. Ihate to say this, but jake was *really* unattractive as an adolescent and young adult. He was positively geekish and undesirable. The only good thing about Jarhead is that it burned off the baby fat (everywhere) and accelerated hair growth (everywhere), preparing him for the stunning transformation in BBM. I find it hard to reconcile the gorgeous, beautiful hunk in BBM with the geekish loser he was before.

  10. GAY MARRIAGE LEGAL IN CA!

  11. ^^I think he was a cute adolescent and young adult, and blossomed into a gorgeous man. You could see the beautiful man he would become in his earlier films I think. IMO one of the most gorgeous men in the world. :)

  12. The California Supreme Court decision is out, they found the ban on gay marriage unconstitutional. Unfortunately the fight is not over yet, anti-gay marriage groups have already been collecting signatures to get an initiative on the ballot to amend the state constitution.

Coffee, actually, BBM filmed first, but I agree he really changed from cute geek to drop-dead gorgeous.

  14. Great news CA, hey its worked well for Massachusetts.

  15. YAY! Wonderful news, I've always said, MA and CA are the most progressive states in the Union! :*

  16. Wonder if Ted and the new Hubs will get the CA seal of legal approval on their new nuptials with a second one?

  17. Ted and the hubs better head to the courthouse while they can. This fight is not over.

  18. Incredible news from California!! :))))

Jake only looked awkward to me in some of his early photo shoots. His features looked big, almost exaggerated on his younger, slimmer face; some photographers didn't use proper angling which might have helped. All it took was some time and filling out and those same features have found their place. Oh yes. ;) I thought he was gorgeous in Donnie Darko, but he really did blossom in BBM. I always remember one writer or critic saying he looked like he could've been created by Pixar, lol!

  19. poor Jake, looks like the curse of Reeke (I've just made that up, but think about it) continues. Nikki Finke's reporting that Nailed's been closed down again.

    Nailed shutdown

    ReplyDelete
  20. Or the curse of the credit crunch ... but yeah, the other one is a theory, Meg ...

I think Jake was gorgeous as a young adult and was going to say, BBM was filmed before Jarhead. He just has those exaggerated features.

A big yayy for California ...

  21. I don't think it's fair to put Nailed's problems on Jake's personal issues. He should be able to do his job as an actor. Clearly the crew and everyone involved deserves to be paid and until then the Unions are being firm as they should be. I do hope this does get resolved and they can finish filming. I think a dark comedy would be a very good move for Jake and I hope Nailed is worth all this in the end.

  22. nailed.. I dont think anyone is really blaming Jake's personal issues for nailed's problems (I was attempting irony). It's more a result of the current economic situation and hopefully the end of hedge fund madness. Unfortunately nailed is the film that seems to be highlighting something that is going on with alot of films at the moment. I just hope umbrella woman has been paid.

  23. Gotta love those darkly humorous Smiths lyrics:

I crashed down on the crossbar

And the pain was enough to make

    A shy, bald, Buddhist reflect

    And plan a mass murder.

  24. jake & jessica are escrowed, the others are escrewed & eschewed

  25. Well it does seem that production is stopped until everyone gets paid.

  26. If Nailed folds we get only one Jake movie in the near future. Brothers is set for Dec release but Zodiac kept getting delayed, who knows if Brothers will actually show up on time. POP could be a long way off, if that deal is even real. Tough times all around post the writers strike and with a looming actors strike.

Fabulous news about CA and the right to gay marriage. It makes for a nice wedding present to Ted. I bet they have a 2nd wedding - do we even know where the first one took place?

  27. the curse of Reeke

The first Nailed shutdown happened a few days after Reese left the set. Coincidence? I think not.

  28. I told you guys this union stuff worried me! I sounds like those workers are getting screwed and it's a good thing there's a union there to protect them. Damn shame it's necessary.

  29. we always hear reese is the highest paid [and tiny!] actress in hw..wunder if she heped out her bf and invested in nailed movie..

  30. Not only did Jake kind of grow into his looks, I think he became more comfortable with his body and gained some confidence. IMO that came from Austin.

Hopefully the Nailed! situation will get straightened out. One of the problems is indeed the hedge fund investors, and many of them are having problems of their own. Not to mention with all these new investors there were just too many movies being made, and few were finding audiences, which also hurt the indie film companies. the NYT reviews every movie that opens, and last weekend there were 20 movie reviews! With that many movies competing for an audience, not many of them are going to find one.

  31. Not only did Jake kind of grow into his looks

also had a little work done- GOOD work.not much but enough to finetune the features.

  32. Very very good work done. Mere milimeters make big differences.

  33. Random comments from a recovering poster...

Thanks for The Smiths' song! Never enough of them, never!

As a late yet helpless lover of Bubble Boy I warmly recommend it to any Jake fan who hasn't seen it. The Catho in me remembers fondly the song "Bitchslap me Jesusssss" and the father answering the door while laughing heartily at a passage from the Bible :D
Oh, and what was the name of that old man's GF again? ;) ;)

Oh well, I know Nailed sounds like crap to a lot of people but the Weirdo in me has always hoped it would turn out as one of those irresistible quirky comedy. Still keeping my fingers crossed since I really hope this will turn out good and will show us a crazier side of Jake. God knows we all need it!

Received my copy of Maurice today. Yeah yeah I know only old-fashioned hags buy DVDs & CDs nowadays but you can't ask a zebra to fuck, can't remember how that old saying went :(

Also a poster at OMG recently reminded us about that Beyond Brokeback book - sorry pal, can't remember your name but thank you anyway. I put it in my order and got it along with my DVD. Had a quick look at it and can say already that I'm happy about that purchase. :)

    Take care everybody!

I hope Nailed gets finished. It looks like a fun movie after all.
