And this dance flashback.
From August 2006
Jake in NYC
The actor recently hit New York City hot spot Butter, where he made his way to Jamie-Lynn Sigler's booth, and with a Corona beer in hand, he rocked out to Fergie's "London Bridge." Later, he started dancing with one of the Sopranos star's brunette friends. The two whispered and laughed with each other for the rest of the night and, at one point, she plopped herself on Gyllenhaal's lap. Before leaving with Sigler at around 3 a.m., the pal and Gyllenhaal whipped out their cell phones and started typing numbers. They also exchanged a long hug good-bye.
That didn't end the fun for Gyllenhaal, who danced to Madonna's "Like a Prayer" (even doing a bit where he crossed himself) and did the limbo with a few women. So, how low can he go?
Jake's new skills for PoP ... money's that boy can go low low low. And Austin.....?
OMG Olympic Moment
Gymnastics
A perfect fusion of athletics and aesthetics, gymnas sports of the Olympic Games. Mixing strength and agility tics ranks among the definingwith style and grace, the high-flying acrobats have provided many of the most breathtaking Olympic spectacles of the past quarter-century.
Gymnastics has a long, proud history. The sport can be traced back to ancient Greece, where such skills featured in the ancient Olympic Games. Ancient Rome, Persia, India and China practised similar disciplines, mostly aimed at preparing young men for battle. The word itself derives from the Greek word gymnos, meaning naked - dress requirements for athletes in those days were minimal, to say the least.
OMG's take. Strength Agility Style Grace. Says it all about these two.
Thought it was going to be the naked thing huh.

Dance this mess around
Sometimes you just need to dance. Stop . Get out there and just put it all behind, forget all everything from the week, the month, the summer, the year. Just dance it out bitch.
Destiny, the Magnetic Fields record "Sweet-Lovin' Man" is from is called 69 Love Songs, Volume 1. It has 23 songs. There are all quite different from each other, with 3 different lead singers, two guys and a woman. Lyrically all the songs are brilliant. Some of them are incredibly weird. I like this record a lot, but I can see how it would be an acquired taste.
ReplyDeleteGyllenhaal, who danced to Madonna's "Like a Prayer" (even doing a bit where he crossed himself)
ReplyDeleteI think this should be a federal offense!
Totally see Jake finding his inner dancing queen.
ReplyDeleteSince I read this bit on JakeWatch back in 2006 I always think of Jake whenever I hear Like A Prayer. I swear. I'd pay good money to watch Gyllenhaal dance limbo.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Madonna, btw.
I really like this picture of Jake. Looks like he can really get down. Yo go Jake!
ReplyDeleteCome to think, he was the only guy in his dance class in school wasn't he?
The some days you just gotta dance. Cause really you can't stay in a bad mood when your dancing.
ReplyDeleteI'm no great dancer, and I have a friend who give me all kinds of shit about my moves, but I tell her, it is not how you move but it's the spirit that you move in.
Thanks Wicked, and I just mentally slapped my forehead because I have Volume I of 69 Love Songs. As you can tell I haven't listened to it in awhile. I certainly don't remember that song specifically. I guess it just goes to show you things can strike you so differently depending upon where and when you hear it.
ReplyDeleteJake needs to put those dancing shoes back on, and pronto!
Still not over Michael Phelps from last night. Can't wait for the women's 50 free final tonight. Go Dara!!! I'm gonna be so sad to see swimming over.
ReplyDeleteToo bad NBC decided they wouldn't air the men's 100 m track final live this morning. I would have loved to see that. At least it's been Youtubed. Usain Bolt is a great, great name for a track star!
In a total shocker, I actually got something done today that did not involve watching the Olympics. I washed my car. Yay!
Why is dancing not in the Olympics? Just wondering.
Anyone in the UK know how reliable the Telegraph is ? Jake Story. What's a Mills & Boon type note? Jake admirer
ReplyDeleteThe British version of a Harlequin romance! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe "story" is a joke.
ReplyDeleteFrom an earlier post:
ReplyDeleteI say Reese because I don’t think Jake would appreciate her being called Reeke.
FYI: Reese + Jake = Reeke
Thanks guys.
ReplyDeleteI like Jeese better;)
ReplyDeleteReeke and reeking is more appropriate.
ReplyDeleteWicked: I washed my car.
ReplyDelete*gets out the umbrellas, raincoat and galoshes*
Reeke and reeking is more appropriate.
ReplyDeleteDamm right cos something smells like BS in that *relationship*
Jeese Reeke either works.
ReplyDeleteJeese Reeke either works.
ReplyDeleteNo it doesn't.
Jeese: pro Jake & Reese. Jeese like Jesus, everything nice and holy and pure and good.
Reeke: con Jake & Reese. Con as in con artists, reeke as in reeking smelly bullshit.
BIG difference.
Interesting chat with a friend today about PoP. Who's really into movies and movie making.
ReplyDeleteMentioned Jake was cast in it. Blued eyed Persian prince with a British accent. And he wondered if Bruckheimer was thinking of Jake in terms of Omar Sharif - Lawrence of Arabia kind of thing.
Commented that Mike Newell was an inspired choice for director.
Reeke is hands down better than Jeese. Whoever coined Reeke, anyway? Did it come from here? OMG is the first/only place I've ever seen that kneeslap/worthy phrase. It was the first thing that drew me to this website-I thought it was absolutely hilarious. :D
ReplyDeleteI thought you were going to say your friend wondered if Bruckheimer was on drugs!
ReplyDeleteHe just kind of saw where Bruck might have found some of his influences to approaching PoP.
ReplyDeleteWould pay to see Jake dance to "Like a Prayer". Have always been an early Madonna fan, anyway, not now, but when she was first in the music biz. I used to admire her seemingly brazen air of self-confidence. And she was a real fashion trendsetter; she had a real impact on music in the age of early MTV, when video changed music.
ReplyDeleteReceived my first movies from Netflix today: Donnie Darko & Waitress. Hope I like them. I'm not sure about Donnie Darko, isn't that a kind of science fic? Nervous I won't understand it, but oh well.
PG
ReplyDeleteAnxious to here what you think about Donnie Darko. Most here there all time Jake movie is BBM. But must say I have Darko as my favorite. Not easy to follow, and begs to be watched a few more times, it is truly an amazing picture.
Whoever coined Reeke, anyway? Did it come from here?
ReplyDeleteIt came from our very own Special, actually. She coined it back when WFT was still up and running.
And to me it resembles Reeke for exactly what it is: lots of Reese with a little bit of Jake thrown in.
Good to hear that, Special. I look forward to watching it.
ReplyDeleteBecause I wouldn't have thought I'd like Lords of the Dogtown. It was so cheap @ Nebraska Furniture Mart the other night, so I bought it and watched it this morning. Didn't know it was based on a true story; it was really good. Ashamed to say I've always frowned in the direction of skateboarders (for various reasons) but after watching the movie, have a brand new admiration for what can be done on those things. That movie helped change that view; I'll be watching those kids a little more closely now.
PG listen to commentary on DD dvd -also go back to "theatre version" of DD to hear excellent Jake/Kelley commentary. Its a blast! And Jakey at his most confortable an intuitive.
ReplyDeleteWhen is this freebie Star magazine subscription ever going to end, I ask? Why did I even open it up just now? Forgive me, all, and please feel free to skip right over this. I'm about to gag myself with a spoon (Ha! pun absolutely intended):
ReplyDeleteStar magazine, Aug 25 issue:
Reese Loses It For Jake!
All eyes were on Reese W's sexy new body when she & boyfriend Jake G. went to an Aug 3 concert.
"The first thing I noticed was how gorgeous, fit & toned Reese looked," an eyewitness at the Brooklyn concert-featuring the Black Lips, Deerhunter and King Khan & The Shrines-tells Star. "She was wearing a shortsleeve shirt that showed off the muscle definition in her arms. You could tell she's been working out."
Yes, she has! Just a few months ago, Reese had packed 20 lbs. onto her tiny frame, which made her feel really self-conscious, according to a friend of the Oscar winner. "When her clothes started getting too tight, she knew she had to do something about it.
"She doesn't want to be seen as Jake's frumpy girlfriend!"
So how did Reese slim down? The friend says that the mother of two cut back on her favorites, such as spaghetti and Pinkberry frozen yogurt with cookie topping. She also got back on her vigorous exercise schedule. In addition to running around the Brentwood Country Club in L.A., Reese has been a regular at the YogaHop studio in Santa Monica, often going 2-3 times a week. And she's not taking beginner's classes! According to sources at the gym, Reese takes the hardest session offered, the Level 2/3 group. "It really pushes her muscles to work hard, but she shows a lot of stamina. She's really good at the arm strength poses, and she can do the one-arm balance really well, too."
Thanks, Jayna, will do. Those commentaries really do help, as in JFC.
ReplyDeleteHere's the rest:
Dating a hottie like Jake has really inspired Reese, 32, to be serious about getting back into shape, say sources. "He's such a workout buff himself," says an insider. "And keeping up with him is a challenge! She pushes herself because she likes the way she feels after."
But Jake, 27, never once said a word to Reese about her weight when she was plumper. "He's too nice for that," adds a friend. "It was Reese who was hard on herself. Having a hot boyfriend made her want to look sexy and athletic, too."
Won't even bother with the rest, something about her & her baking choco. chip cookies again. Comes with gratuitous pictures of the famous "yoga outing" and the bikini picture.
Oh, and on the front inside, a full page, blown up pic of the POP on set picture, suitable for framing.
I think their management team must own some stock in this Star mag. Now, to go out & get my mind reset from this garbo. Thankfully, I know most everyone here is watching the Olympics right now anyway or getting ready to.
Do I hear right? I guess this Phelps has a chance to break Mark Spitz' record? Used to have a giant poster of Mark Spitz on my bedroom door long time ago. Don't know where my mind was at; speedos don't do it for me at all now, lol!! Just like 60-70's type basketball shorts; don't they look kind of funny now? So dang tiny.
She doesn't want to be seen as Jake's frumpy girlfriend
ReplyDeleteThat's funny. Most of the comments generated about her from the PoP set photos referred to her as matronly or frumpy.
"The first thing I noticed was how gorgeous, fit & toned Reese looked,"
ReplyDeleteThe eyewitness in Brooklyn & The Star must be smoking some good pot. Firstly, Jake was in Morocco, secondly, look at the pics of Jake dragging Reese behind in on the POP set, her thighs are as flabby as ever. She got more money than God, but zero fashion sense. Her wearing those shorts prove to me that she still sees a 16 yr old cheerleader body when she looks in the mirror. I thing Reeke's PR must be doing some pretty good drugs also to keep trying to push this BS.
Reese is back home. Family Hike with Ava & Deacon
ReplyDeleteGuess the heat and sweat was to much for Reese's refined tastes. By the way, those pics really show off her hot, new, toned body (ha, ha, ha).
ReplyDeleteO right, Jake really cares whether Reese is fat or thin. gimme a break!
ReplyDeleteI hate to break the news to Reese but she looks just as frumpy, if not more so, than ever now. The problem is not her weight or body tone. Jake makes her look old and their body language together says mom and son, not lovers adding to the matronly look. She needs to find herself a more age appropriate male.
ReplyDeletePG, I remember being a giggling, sighing high school freshman girl watching Mark Spitz win his medals. I like the new Olympic swim gear too; especially when they take down the top, more so of the torsos. Go MP! ;)
ReplyDeletei love when they show the swimmers underwater esp during the butterfly. they look just like dolphins! i could watch that all day.
ReplyDeletewaiting for when jake does scenes with gemma so the rumors can fly about an gemma after jake. then reese coming to visit the set again and anon source talks about hearing a bitch fight and how reese tells gemma stay away from my man and then repentant jake proposes again and sys he really wants to have a family with reese blah blah blah
ReplyDeleteI love when they show the swimmers underwater esp during the butterfly. they look just like dolphins! i could watch that all day.
ReplyDeleteMe too, that's exactly what they resemble. The underwater camera shots are gorgeous. I love when Phelps dives in the pool and is halfway down the lane immediately, it seems. :)
Congrats to Michael Phelps on his relay team gold medal. Does anyone know if Mark Spitz's golds were all for individual races or did he have some relay wins, too?
ReplyDeleteFunny, I asked a friend today "What's with Bob Costas' hair?" and she got a funny look in her eye and right away said "I don't know," thus prompting a 3-minute discussion on what exactly was going on with it. That's all you have to say "What's with Bob C's hair?" and people know exactly what you're talking about.
I'd be curious as to how long Reese was in Morocco. That's no small investment in time/money. I know I'm no moneybags and to her & Jake, it's probably a drop in the bucket, but gee whiz, do you know that a RT flight like that costs several 1000's of dollars? And it's, like 18-22 hrs of flighttime? Good gosh, what in the heck do you do up in the air all that time? Course, probably not a commercial flight, thus no LAX pictures, you reckon? And that would help explain why I can't believe they were in Brooklyn (well, that and the beer tent) together a couple weekends ago. Why would he fly back for a short time like that, although from Morocco to NY, not quite as long, but not by a whole lot. Not when you're talking that many flight hours. And I thought KC to Vegas was long enough. LOL!!
ReplyDeleteOn that obssessive thought, I'm headed to bed. An exciting Sat. night @ Wal Mart will do that, just zap it right out of ya.
Sweet dreams, everyone ; )
"I hate to break the news to Reese but she looks just as frumpy, if not more so, than ever now. The problem is not her weight or body tone. Jake makes her look old and their body language together says mom and son, not lovers adding to the matronly look. She needs to find herself a more age appropriate male."
ReplyDeleteAs much as I abhore Reeke, I do find the complaints about Reese being too old for Jake pretty ridiculous and quite sexist. Why should men be able to date women much younger than them but women can't date a guy even a few years younger. Doesn't strike me as an argument those in favour of equality would support.
their body language together says mom and son, not lovers
ReplyDeleteITA. No matter how old you are or who you're with and how old they are - if you're in love you feel like a teenager and smile and have spring in your step and just plain freakin glow. Reeke? --> Old, dull, dry, lifeless and tired. Both of them.
Reese is not 15 years older than Jake , only 5. That's not the point. The point is that when you want to be seen with a guy who is generally considered very attractive you have to be prepared for some bashing. Reese has never been seen as a sexy woman. Cute, tiny, lovable (to some people) Southern girl-yes. Devilish, sexy, hot goddess for whom men lose their senses-no. She's the kind of woman guys marry, not the kind of woman they take for lovers.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Feminist, totally. I say go, girl, to the older woman who can nab a hot, younger guy. And I've always handed it to Demi Moore for nabbing Ashton. But I do agree with others here in that Reese does look more than 5 yrs older than Jake in the way she carries herself, her facial expressions, and her whole persona. And on top of that, the fact that those 2 are not hot for each other, like they should be. Enough of that.
ReplyDeleteWanna share something neat from this morning. Does anybody know where the moon goes during the day? In every weather condition that I've walked in during my years, I don't think I've ever walked by total moonlight. This morning, that moon was superb. And yards away, along the lake as I walked on the sidewalk, at least 3 beavers hanging out along the rocks. At first, couldn't tell what they were. The silly ducks? No, walking on all 4's. Possum? No, too dark. Then I could see their flat, wide tails by that moonlight. I clapped my hands (don't need to be bitten by a family of beavers!) as they skidaddled up the slope of rocks & disappeared. I LOVE coming across these animals in their natural being, their natural habitat.
But does anybody know where the moon goes during the day? Does it disappear because it's so white & blends into the sky? Afraid that part of science class has left me.
Well, based on the hiking pix with Ava and Deacon, Reese still looks a bit overweight. And before you jump on me Feminist, the reason I make fun of Reese and her body is because she's trying to put herself out there as a sex symbol when she's not. Reese is an average looking woman with a soccer mom body. There's nothing wrong with that. But when you try and put it out there that you're super sexy and you can't carry it off, expect to be mocked. Especially when you're famous. And about her age, Reese looks and dresses much older than Jake. Again, nothing wrong with it. But when you see the two of them together, she often looks frumpy and matronly compared to him. They don't look like a fit. How can you expect not to make comments about it?
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of hers, but how in the world is Reese trying to pull off "sex symbol"? I've never seen that. She's a rom-com actor, she knows she's a rom-com actor. She's not doing sexy and sultry roles.
ReplyDeleteWhy are women so much harder on other women? I never understood that. Is it because we're all basically insecure and live in a society where looks, apparently, are everything?
Reese Witherspoon is pretentious, dull, fugly and not very bright woman.
ReplyDeleteI'll never forgive Jake for wasting my time on that bore. LOL!
You don't have to support Reese Witherspoon to call yourself a feminist. She is a horrible role model IMO she propogates stereotypes and then flips them around and calls them empowerment. Let's paraphrase her Penelope mantra "You can be ugly and be loved that is a good message for girls" or Legally Blonde "You can focus 90% of your time and energy on your looks and catching a man and still be smart and catch an even better man".
ReplyDeleteVomit. Oh BTW her arms aren't toned.
