Tweedy Bird

Insomnia, X files message boards and a lot of Diet Coke lead to some interesting snippets that may tell more about Fencewalker.

Chatter began about about Fencewalker, pretty much then referred to as Chris Carter's secret project, the beginning of May, six weeks before the Hollywood Reporter mention. Debate was that it was for extras for the second X-Files film's DVD or that they were already filming the 3rd X-files film. A lot of that was prompted because rapper Xzibit is the newest X-files. But it was Xzibit himself that confirmed that the was filming Fencewalker in an interview in May. From the way X refers to it look like Fencewalker is a separate movie and later this was confirmed by the Reporter.

It does look like a semi ? autobiographical movie for Carter but no one is sure how much or how little it is. In fact not many people know what its about all. But it does look like another retro run for Austin, another late 70's - early 80's.

It has been discovered that Carter and Ten Thirteen Productions did in fact register the domain fencewalkernovie.com.

The boards said filming start the beginning of May and wrapped end of July beginning of August. A lighting crew member from the project had dates on his myspace confirmed that time line.

Now about Austin. Still not sure how he plays into this story line but a couple of thoughts. And maybe a little about why he caught Chris Carter eye. Surfing has been a part of Chris Carter's life more in his past than in the present, including a stint as a writer for a surfing magazine, but he still surfs some. Somehow you can see Chris Carter watching John from Cincinnati can't you? And actually understanding it.

Could Austin play a surfer in Carter's past ? Or there's this, could this be Tweedy's (Austin) place?

As with any Chris Carter project guess it's just a "have to wait and find out", isn't it?

OMG Olympic Moment
Fencing

Take the romantic, swashbuckling epics of Errol Flynn, add some rules, protective clothing and an electronic scoring system, and you have fencing at the Olympic Games. Two rivals stand opposite each other and feint, lunge, parry and riposte until one scores the required number of hits to win.

Evolved from the ancient form of combat, fencing is one of only four sports that has been featured at every modern Olympic Games. It was the first to include recognised professionals in a medals competition after modern Olympic Games founder Pierre de Coubertin arranged special events for professional fencing "masters" in the original 1896 and 1900 competitions.

The clothing has become so protective, though, that officials modified masks a few years ago to return a "human face" to the event. Fine, but for intense reality, the 1924 team foil competition still wins: After the Olympic Games, an Italian and a Hungarian settled a scoring controversy with a real duel.

OMG's Take. Jake should be a pro with the Saber after his summer of PoP. Wonder if he's passing on along some tips to Austin?

Love it! Always have loved the beautiful sport, and art, of fencing. Another great post today, and one of my favorite disco songs. Always love hearing about any of Austin's upcoming projects. And let me just say that OMG's Olympic coverage has been awesome, I think people everywhere are enjoying the Olympics this summer immensely. Let's hear it for the beauty of the athlete! :)

  2. Austin sure does seem to be "stuck" in the 80s. I'd love to see him do some more surfing, so keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Im also keeping my fingers crossed that Fencewalkers will be better than the latest X-Files movie--I have a friend who is a huge movie person and rabid X-Files fan, and he said the latest was a real mess. I"m also an X-Files fan, but after he described the movie I had no desire to see it.

  3. Great song today. Blast from the past! I used to luv that song. Glad you played the long version.

I have to admit I like seeing people fence in movies although I’m not really an aggressive person. It kind of has certain sensuality about it.

Great post on Austin too. I used to really be a X-files junkie myself but the last 2 movies were a major disappointment. I didn't even waste my money on the last one.

  5. Hand in hand, I am very intrigued by your comments, especially this one-

the feeling that the good times will go on forever and that nothing will ever go wrong or change, was very painful.

I agree this is very painful and something that is very necessary if human beings have any hope of becoming adults. That feeling you describe is not reality and when you think it is, the world can really hurt you. Once you absorb this lesson, however painful, the world will have less capacity to hurt you because you better understand how the world works. This world is random and brutal, but also beautiful. So many things happen, both good and bad, that we have no control over. I believe all of this- the randomness, the brutality, the beauty, the good, the bad, the lack of control over any of it, must be embraced. I don't really see what else a human being can do.

  6. Yes, more more more Austin on the way. Do you think he and Jake enjoyed a fantasy with Jake stopping for a fillup and Austin assisting him in that gas monkey outfit?

Prairie Girl, you have to watch DD more than once. Both the original and the Directors cut version for diferent angles and different bonus material. I found the Directors cut a litle easier to understand actually, but then I've watched that movie at least 5 times.

  7. Hi m, missed seein' you around lately! Yes, actually I have it here @ work with me. I thought I'd try & watch a little on my lunch break on my desktop, but well, as you can see, here I am blogging. I could easily watch it again as long as I know what some of the symbolism means. I'm trying to figure out the significance of the Asian girl. She crops up constantly. You know, she was about the only one Donnie was nice to. I don't know that he was even really all that nice to his girlfriend other than he just wanted to boink her.

More, More, More! Oh, I love this song.
And Errol Flynn! I'm all for my man, Errol Flynn. Swashbuckling in Robin Hood, now that is an adventure packed movie. I can't wait for Informers to come out. November seems so far away.

  8. Clarity, have you seen Seahawk with Errol Flynn? That has some great swordduels with him and Basil Rathbone. You may not have heard of Basil Rathbone; he was in alot of movies and he was also Sherlock Holmes. He did great playing a nemesis.

  9. The song today was one of Frenchy's suggestions of songs from our Cover song discussion. We will keep trying to mix some of the suggestions from there with our other music. You guys came up with some fantastic songs! We've done White Flag by Dido, and Your Love is King by Sade last week, from the list. So keep listening and look for them.

  10. Yes PG I agree you have to watch both theatrical and director cut commentaries plus other extras such as production notes; and Richard Kelly's Donnie Darko website and the Roberta Sparrow book - and the "short" featuring DD's number one fan. Also you have to watch the film about seven times. And even then you will have to make up your own mind about Cherita. Since both Jake and Kelly say they havent the faintest idea what the film is about.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I agree with Jayna, do the production notes, the extras, Kelly's DD website, etc. Everything you can find. This is a good resource of answers to

There are things I like from the original version of DD AND the director's cut, I wish you had an option of doing a mash up of both of them. (Hope Richard Kelly thinks to do this for the 2011 anniversary)

DD is a go to much watched and very much discussed among friends. It is on my 10 movies list.

    ReplyDelete
  12. PG, you should really listen to the commentary before you give DD another viewing. In addition to explaning some things, they point out things I know I missed the first few times I saw it.

Wicked, great post in response to hand in hand. It would be nice to know more of what hand in hand meant with his or her post. I took it to mean that most young people are "innocent" when it comes to the realities of life, and therefore put too many things off until "tomorrow" because they just assume there will be a tomorrow.

This discussion puts me in mind of a quote that was in the obituary I saw for the man who designed all that cowboy gear. It said he made certain business decisions because he thought it was the right thing to do, like continuing to manufacture his clothes in the U.S., even if it meant making less money. He told people that he didn't want to be the richest man in the cemetary. When I read that quote I couldn't help thinking of all those people, including J&A, who are closeted and/or bearding, presumably for the sake of their careers.

  13. Freaky coincidences DD and planes:

MADRID, Spain (AP) - A Spanish airliner bound for the Canary Islands crashed, burned and broke into pieces Wednesday while trying to take off from Madrid's Barajas airport, killing 149 people on board, officials said.

There were only 26 survivors in the mid-afternoon crash, a Spanish emergency official said.

Has Crotch Uh-Lastic ever invited Toothy Tile to swim in his pool? Have you ever used two different monikers for the same person?

    Dear Peter Patrol:
I believe no, and certainly not. That would be like double skinny-dipping!

    Dear Ted:
Is Baby Tile Sunday Rose Kidman Urban?

    Dear Det. Diapers:
Nope, but great guess, babe. Just not with Keith, as he's, um, greased in every heterosexual sense of the word.

  19. It really is raining babies in HW. And Ted really has turned up the heat on TT with the Baby Tile questions! He has absolutely eliminated any doubt as to what he meant by Family Tile.

Now, if only I could understand what Ted is really saying here. Is it a good guess because Kidman really didn't give birth to Sunday, as some people are suggesting?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Great news about Ricky Martin. He’s considered a sex symbol so he’ll open a lot of doors for other gay men.

Is Ted admitting with that question there is a baby Tile? I think he is!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think Ted is saying what we said last week that Family Tile means Toothy, Goose and Baby T, a happy family.

  22. Ellen and Portia are the top most read story on People! Yay!

Back in the day, I used to fence. I fenced only foil and usually without electric hooked up to it. The fencing gear is quite hot, and we would all end up soaked at the end of the class. Getting hit with a foil tip gives you round bruises that are about as big around as a pencil eraser. Those bruises really hurt!

  24. No-PG I haven’t seen that one. Looks interesting. The last movie I saw with any type of fencing was Casanova. I'm not sure if thats even considered fencing really. I definitely will put this one on my Netflix queue.

I watched DD a few years ago and I liked it although I didn’t understand all of it. I hate having to watch a movie 5 times in order to "get it". I figure if I don’t get it the second time around it wasn’t meant for me to. I guess I don't feel too bad if the actors themselves didn't get it either. Lol.

    Congrats to Ricky Martin!

  25. DD is one of those movies I can watch over and over again, and having new things to figure out just adds to the enjoyment. I thought it was stricly a DD fixation until I saw BBM, then I realized it was Jake too.

I know people find it hard to believe there's a Baby Tile, but I also find it hard to believe Ted would be this explicit unless he's pretty sure or it's coming from a source he really trusts.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I too don`t think there is any doubt Ted really means baby-Tile excists. He has wrote quite a lot about him/her lately.
I believe Toothy, Grey Goose and the baby are a family, though they`re hiding. Not that impossible in Hollywood, i think, as long as you want to.(Quite a lot wanna-be-seen people there who know how to get what they want).
I don`t know if Ted hints that Nicole Kidman didn`t really give birth to Sunday Rose, but i do think Ted means she`s a lesbian.
I remember a blind-vice he had last year, i think, about a closeted oscar-winning/nominated actress who was creating a little storm suddenly talking about her ex-husband to the media, while she now was re-married. A lot of guesses then was her. It was around the same time she told the media she lost one (or several) unborn kid(s) before pregnancy was fulfilled.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I want to add that even though i think it`s not impossible for a couple to hide in hollywood, it`s different with a child. They might be able to hide it for a while, because they don`t take him/her out themselfs, but when the child gets older, there will be A LOT more risks or sacrifations, i think.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think DD had an excellent script (as did BBMt) and both Kelly and Jake worked intuitively and understood the genre (sci fi) and the time period. Kelly drew heavily upon his own experience, and Jake is the same age - everybody just "got it" - also Cherita! whom I thot was kind of the "soul" of the movie, and the only one who understood what was going on with Donnie. although it scared the shit out of her!

dont mean to go on and on about this, but for me it was a film that "worked" - thanks for listening - (or not)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Embarrassed to admit I haven't visited Ted since his background went yellow. I couldn't navigate around that thing & now I'm all intimidated. Giminy's, I hadn't heard anyone say Nicole might not've given birth. But, wow, she looked incredible, what, 2 weeks after? But some women are like that. I hope she really had the baby; I was so happy for her & really wish her & Keith a good marriage.

Do you know what? My dvd doesn't have any of the extras. It's my Netflix rental. I'll have to use my monthly BBuster free rental to get it again. One more thing, and I promise I'll shut up about DD. Did anyone notice the "Triumph" T shirt on Donnie D in the movie? I haven't heard Triumph since my early college days. Excellent! That soundtrack was great, too. Some good tunes in the background. I don't mind at all watching it several times, as long as I can understand some of it. Just reading IMBD (or whatever it's called) helped already. I didn't even know Donnie was schizophrenic. I thought maybe he had depression. That was so sad. I felt so bad for him.

And that pastel Skittles shirt Austin has on kind of cracks me up. It reminds me of the shirts my mom put my brother in when he was little. Austin looks like a tween in that picture, really sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  30. What does Ted mesn that he's greased in every hetrosexual sense of the word. Is he talking about Keith? Nicole? Gay rumors about her and maybe she didn't give birth to Sunday Rose, but not Keith.

If he is talking about TT then what's with the greased comment.

    ReplyDelete
  31. "And that pastel Skittles shirt Austin has on kind of cracks me up. It reminds me of the shirts my mom put my brother in when he was little. Austin looks like a tween in that picture, really sweet."

PG - The shirt always reminded me of the fruit striped gum that I chewed as a kid. The picture is from 2003.

  32. Lol!!, I was just about to ask you a question, Jayna, and I forgot that I promised not to utter another word about you know what.

That's surprising news on Ricky Martin. What is going on in the water up there in Hollywood?

LOLL!! (I'm sorry I use that alot, I love to express my laughing, tho) Fruit stripe gum. You know, Special, they still make that. Wasn't it great? It lasted about a good 3 minutes and then the flavor fizzled out like a bowling ball. 2003? Are you kidding me? Am I embarrassed.

  46. I have no idea what Ted's clue means (as usual) but it sure says there is a Baby Tile. If so, Toothy can not keep it a secret for too long. An infant yes, but not a toddler or older. Austin has been keeping out of sight, but still. I know this is sacrilege, but an early BI said the baby would be far away from prying eyes. Chris F. is pretty remote now. No, I don't really believe it's Chris, but he did move away about the right time. I am just completely stumped now.

  52. It could be in San Francisco, where Jake was rumored to be looking at houses in a gay, family-friendly neighborhood. Or NY near Maggie. Or far from prying eyes could just mean away from the cameras and mostly in Austin's care, as he is less recognizable. I don't think it would be Ojai, they wouldn't have revealed the location like that.

  55. Jodie Foster could lose $25 million soon.

    The reason?????

Cuz - as has been reported - she's a homewrecker and a cheater!

Ever since she left her partner of 14 years, Cydney Bernard, for writer and producer Cynthia Mort, Foster has been trying to play nice.

And Jodie would like to keep things away from the public eye, so she'll do whatever it takes to keep everything quiet.

And that means keeping her ex happy!

According to the National Enquirer, Foster could lose up to a quarter of her fortune, an estimated $25 million in alimony.

Jodie is currently worth around $100 million. But half of that she earned while she was with Cydney!

So legally, Cydney could ask for half of those $50 mill and she might get it if she sues.

And according to an inside source, Jodie is trying her best to keep her happy and not pay her the millions.

She's even trying to have Cydney and Cynthia be friends.

    Riiiiiiight.

The source says, "She wants them to be friends. Jodie realizes that if Cydney perceives them to be one big happy family, she'd never sue for half her assets."

So what does Cydney get in return?

She gets to live for free at one of Foster's houses. She also gets invited to parties at Foster's house and gets to visit with her sons.

And even better is the reported six figures a year she's giving Cydney.

That's not too shabby - but it's still not $25 mill!

    ReplyDelete
  57. That would be crushing if true about Jodie Foster. After 14 years? That is a heckuva long time to throw a relationship down the drain like that. And kids involved. And for what? A mid-life crisis fling? Is no one in Hollywood faithful to their better half? And money can just help it all go away?
