Strong Start, Muddled Middle, Great Ending

Again Austin gained ground on One Tree Hill. Starting off working his devilish ways on Brooke to no avail, messing up a little in the middle , and redeeming himself with showing the true guy Julian is, or we think he is, and it sounds like showing the real Julian is the way to Brooke's heart, or at least in the upcoming episode in her bedroom.

But the wait is two weeks to find out. The CW knows how to play it, saving a shirtless Austin (cause you know if they didn't write it in, he reminded them ) for February Sweeps. The upcoming episode was filmed back in December before the break for the holidays, with Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley) directing. Oh you know he's gonna lose the shirt.

And it looks like Austin is back in NC filming again, so we know there are more episodes coming. Now with only 9 episodes left for the rest of the season, and Austin in 8 of his 10, but still filming in NC and gaining fans every week, you think they've stretched Julian's story line out more? It looks like it. And they'd be stupid not too. And Sophia would be stupid not to want him to say - because the more Julian the more Julian and Brooke on screen. Besides she looks like she is having fun again.

So is wearing his letterman's jacket and wearing his cycling jacket mean the same thing?

One quick notice about Brooke and Julian . Some people use Brulian , others JB - that works too,(and its a bourbon like Wild Turkey), but BJ now that's just asking for trouble or the ones in the cycling gear. And don't think it isn't on the call sheet as BJ scenes - oh you know it is, because they would, or at least Austin is calling his scenes with Sophia that just to be bad.

The reviews are starting to come in for The Informers and well..... that it just needs to be seen and you make up your own mind about it. Come on - you know you're still gonna want to see it even if it is getting less than stellar reports - cause - of the soundtrack, and Billy Bob - right?

Despite the muddled middle it looks like Austin will end up strong with Prayers for Bobby, which just getting more and more praise, and mentions for an Emmy in the fall. Will finally get to see Austin all decked out in a tux this fall with the rest of the cast? Fingers crossed.

Awards are nice, but Prayers seems to want to aim higher, and think it really will reach what it is going for. It wants to change lives, change minds, and change hearts.

And you'd be surprised where it is being mentioned. This is from a blogger who writes about sexuality and older adults - Better than I Ever Expected.

"If you think you don't know any closeted gay teenagers, it's only because they are closeted. Maybe your "Bobby" is your grandson, or your granddaughter's best friend, or the neighbor kid, or the quiet boy at church. We've learned a lot about life and about sexuality in the decades we've been living on this earth, and part of it is to accept ourselves and open ourselves to younger folks who might need a role model, a listening ear, and a warm "so good to see you today."

  1. It was so cool to see Obama sworn in yesterday. People, laughing, crying, dancing. Truly amazing. Beautiful dress Michelle had on at the ball.

That Obamicon.Me site looks like fun. I'll have to try that out when I get some free time. Thanks for posting the link.

Man, I hope I can get a copy of The Dying Gaul by Friday. I really want to see it. I’m too late for Netflix at this point.

    Have a good day everyone : )

  2. Not really surprised at the intial response to the Informers. Didn't the Sundance people say it wouldn't be to everyone's taste. It does however seem that deciding to go on OTH has very much lifted Austin's profile. If you have a spare few minutes you should check out the Brulian love on imdb, they love it over there, but the he does look so damn cute its hard not to.

  3. Hopefully, Clarity, you're able to get a copy of it. I still need to finish it - not sure if I'll get to tonight. I need to go visit someone in the hospital tonight and really, really need to finish laying out my vacation sheet to turn in. I bring it home every night & weekend, but it just sits in my bag. Don't know why I can't seem to do it.

Beautiful pictures from yesterday; just beautiful. I saw some people interviewed on MSNBC this morning and it was really wonderful to hear the things they were saying, all races. Things don't change overnight, and there's still problems out there, but when you have hope, you have everything you need to start change. Hope is what keeps people going.

Really interesting class last night. The pastor talked at length about her quest in obtaining her doctorate. She has been commuting to Washington D.C. to do this and it sounds so, so tough. She was talking about thesis and all that stuff; some people making it & going on, some people on the bubble; and others who didn't make it and now have to wait a year to try again. They started with 22 in the class and went down to 15.
I cannot imagine. And a friend of mine who has gone through Stress City in going to nursing school in her 40's while still working. Awful courses like Chemistry & Anatomy. Hard tests & endless studying. People not making it & being devestated. Wow. Really, really admire all these people out there who are going back to school.
    Phew.

And now off to work! lol. Off to make a difference in the world of 9 to 5.

Everyone have a great day! I can hear my song coming on the radio right now. A New Hallelujish. What a great, great song. Great way to push me out the door.

Kacieee! How is everything?? Hope everything is going okay, my friend?

  6. I think it may be too early to tell about The Informers as it sounds like the reviewers, so far, didn't like the subject matter to begin with. I'm hoping there will be some discussion of it in some of the roundup reviews that the NYT usually does on Sundance since I have a better feel for whether my tastes/opinions mesh with those reviewers than I do for the ones out so far. But regardless of the reviews, I intend to see it.

  7. I went and saw Maggie and Peter in Uncle Vanya last night. Dennis O'Hare was really good, but overall I thought the production and acting was okay, but nothing great. It could be that I saw it too early, it's just been playing since the weekend, and it could still be a work in progess. While it was kind of fun to be in such a tiny theater and be so close to the action (the theater seats only about 180 and has 6 rows on 3 sides of the stage) the stage design was a big problem. Tt had a diagonal row of beams across the stage, meant to represent a divider between inside and outside the house, but even in a tiny theater it meant that half the time I couldn't see people because they were blocked by the beam. I really think directors and reviewers should sit in the worst seats in a theater to see how the staging works.

Two tidbits. One, Naomi was in the audience. She didn't appear to be with anyone, and remained seated while everyone else was leaving the theater (presumably waiting for Maggie and Peter).

Two, at one point my gf turned to me and whispered that she can't believe Peter is straight, which made me laugh. Although I have to say I've never thought he was completely straight. Heck, if that DL thread being discussed on wft2 has any truth to it (and no way of knowing, consider the source), maybe no one in the family is. completely straight.

  8. I'm not surprised at the reaction to The Informers. It has a contraversial topic and author. I'll reserve judgement till I see the Rotten Tomato consensus. It wont stop me from gawking at Austin in all his glory.

CNN today said it had 26 million viewers on its live feed website of the inauguration. Not TV viewers, but those on the internet. Our office watched via an internet feed as well. Anyone who thinks the internet is not powerful is totally out of touch.

  11. I think that people don't want to admit the excess of the 80's like the The Informers. They can accept the suburban 80's of Donnie Darko because it didn't glorify the the excesses that really happened in some areas at the time. I don't think people want to admit that it was so free and careless as AIDS was growing in the US outside the gay community, that there was homelessness in Reagan's America and that people had no guilt about being greedy and gauche and gaudy.

    Just my thoughts.

But I want to see it, and I think the soundtrack its just going to kill.

I'm not a Republican or sticking up for Reagan or trying to start a fight with you about what you were implying (Republican presidents cause problems or you were just describing an era) but fact is the homeless street problem started long before, when Jimmy Carter (Democrat) okayed patients in mental hospitals be released.

If Informers is 80s excesses, drugs, sex, youth, partying, has no point to it, I'm fucking there. I'm tired of Oscar downer movies where someone gets old, gets stuck in boring life, dies real sadly or commits suicide. Lets have some fun.

Deinstitutionalization is only part of the homeless problem. The rise of crack and the subsequent addiction to it that started in the 80s was a big contributor.

m, I totally agree. The internet is where it's at, it's where it's headed. I think in 5-10 years, you will see Wi Fi in alot more places besides hotels, McD's, Starbucks, & Panera's.

Wow, Destiny, a celebrity sighting. I've mentioned that I have started watching The Dying Gaul. I think Peter S. is very convincing in his role. Boy, there is a scene relatively early in the movie where Robert (Peter) is visiting Jeffrey (Campbell Scott) at his house and Jeffrey's wife is there, too. She walks away &, man, like a paragraph right out of slash, Jeffrey whispers into Robert's ear what he'd like to do to his body. Dang. And I wondered how, as straight men, those 2 guys felt about filming that scene? I mean, to me, that was just as graphic as a sex scene. Just that it was spoken instead of acted out.

  21. Okay, Chris, I'm about to talk about the elderly & all that, so you will probably want to scroll on past this.

As I mentioned this morning, I went to the hospital tonight after my walk to visit an elderly man who I visited several times when I belonged to my old church. He & his wife were longtime members, were in the choir together, and he was very much into trains. I visited he & his wife when she was still alive. She had emphysema and was on oxygen. We all watched Wheel of Fortune together and I got to know him a little bit. Then she passed away & I visited him several more times; we even went out to dinner once. Very nice man. But then I moved away and I hadn't realized how long (2 yrs, I guess) since I'd seen him.
It was so sad. I did get to meet one of his sons, who was there with him, helping him with his dinner. I've already met his 2 daughters; they are very nice. It was so sad to see how he had deteriorated from the last time I saw him. And you know, no person should suffer the indignity of having food drool down their mouth & have to have someone else wipe it off or have someone come change their adult diaper or just know that you don't look anything like you used to. He's had a stroke & several falls, so he can't speak very well, but he said he still remembered me. I just feel bad for not going sooner. I knew I should have, but I didn't. I wish all elderly people could have their last days be dignified and not spent in sterile smelling nursing homes & hospitals. Because someday, someday most of us will be just like my friend, Mr. E.
And it just makes you cherish the stage in life that you are in right now. And things aren't bad at all compared to that.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey, Tom, what's goin' on? You sound like you're feeling back up to snuff, lol. I wanted to tell you that it's always good when The Boss realizes how much you're missed.

Interesting thing about visiting hospitals as opposed to nursing homes. There just really is not anything cheery about nursing homes much as they try. They all still smell the same. And there's no disguising the fact that it's the last stop on the train of life. Actually, I take that back. I can remember a few places where the residents decorated their doors with cute wreaths and made it as homey like as they could.

But hospitals are a little different. Like tonight. You can spend 1/2 hr there or 45 minutes and in that short time, you see pieces of people's lives and wonder what's going on. How they are doing. Like I saw a couple in the admitting area and he had his hand tightly on her arm. Couldn't tell if he was comforting her or trying to give her strength or just talking to her. I wondered what was wrong. Then on my way up the elevator, I rode with a nice old man and we were both going up to the 3rd floor. I said " I guess since it's Rm 339, that means it's on the 3rd floor" and he smiled & said yes. Then he showed the signs for me to show me which way to head. I wondered if he was there to visit his wife? Or a friend? If his wife, was she very ill?
So, so many rooms with patients and family members visiting. And on my way out, I passed a woman walking with someone else and her eyes looked red and I wondered if she had been crying. Maybe a friend or family member was there and was very ill. So many stories and so many questions. Serious things going on with people there.

Anyway, that's my hospital visit story. I enjoy visiting elderly people. When they're healthy enough to visit, you can hear such wonderful stories. And even when they can't talk hardly at all, I hope they know that someone cares.

Okay, Chris, I'm done! lol. Had to be serious there for a minute. Cause life is about good things. But it's also about people who aren't as blessed or fortunate. It's just reality.

Hey! Tomorrow is Oscar nominations day. It's also the anniversary of Heath's passing. I hope Heath gets a nomination. I'm sure he will for best supporting actor. Wouldn't that just be something if he would win that. It would be incredible.

Okay, off to bed!! Looks like everyone else is, too. Talkin' to myself here, lol.

  24. LOL Tom, I wish I had the nerve to do things like that, but I don't.

Maggie and Peter were just okay. Maggie had a bit more of that "star/presence" thing going on, but not too much, which I don't think is bad thing. Sometimes star turns are distracting in plays. I just usually really like both of them in movies, and liked Peter in The Seagull, so in comparison it was a bit of a let down. Part of the problem for me too was that it had similarities, story and theme-wise, to The Seagull, which I saw a few months back and was much better, both as a play, and production/acting-wise.

  25. While I don't doubt that most people have very little idea who Jake is, other than as that "guy from BBM", and therefore probably don't think about it much when they see reeke, I don't know that the number of people who know about Jake and the gay rumors are as small as Ted says. And I actually think more casual fans probably think he is gay than a lot of his fangirls-look at how Aiken's fans refused to believe he was gay .

Does Ticking Tile refer to a new baby, as well as time running out on his being in the closet???

Your observation is quite shrewd. Based on what I have seen, Informers has a film noir look to it. David Lynch-ish even. So it is bound to evoke extreme responses. Usually, if such a film repulses me too much, it sets me thinking. Some knots in my psyche could be unraveled to me. All the more reason to watch it again.

  33. I hadn't noticed the sleeves, but I did think the shirt looked like something Austin would wear. I don't recall seeing a shirt like that on Jake, or at least not in eons. Nice to see him wearing something besides blue, black or gray.

Oh I see someone hasnt done their Jake wearing a button down shirt homework. The correct answer would be - Always.

  35. Do paps usually hang out at medical centers?

Of course they do. Just like they hang out at art museums, state parks, farms that sell pigs and farmers markets an hour away from LA. Reese would also have us believe that paps hide in the bushes in front of her house and follow her everywhere she goes every day.

If not, what exactly is the purpose of a photo op at a medical center?

As far as Reeke is concerned, a photo op is a photo op. I think that the both of them must get the DT's if they don't see their pics online at least every 3 days.

  37. Rolled up sleeves, not always/never. Look IHJ #003 pic left arm. Those are REALLY LONG sleeves LOL. Plus I could be wrong but the shirt neck looks a smaller fit. Austin looks like his neck is smaller than Jake's. The shirt IMO looks like Austins or a shirt Austin saw and liked and got it for Jake for Christmas. I can't say I see Jake picking it out for himself. Don't we all do that, dress people in stuff WE like LOL.

  38. It does seem odd that Jake would call out the paps for something like this. I could actually see paps hanging out around a medical building like this where you might catch celebs going to the dentist, shrink, etc.

Good call 3 inch - look how the button down shirt is unbutton too, to make the collar a little wider. Austin is the one who likes button downs. Jake does have a thicker neck than Austin. And after this summer his traps are definitely bigger. Totally the sleeves make you think its Austin's shirt too. The material is the other thing. And lastly the double pocket which Austin has several shirts with the double pocket thing.

Posters who believe this ^ BS are delusional. Sure Reese and Jake or Reeke wants photo ops just as MOST hollywood celebritys who want the attention, and believe me there are plenty out there who do. YOUR focus in on Reeke, that's all, and to think someone, anyone would call the paps anytime they leave the house or to get coffee is really a strecth. Could it be the paps follow Reeke because of the internet tabloids of Reese = beard and/or Jake = gay or bi. Or, they may be getting married. Either way it, the paps have to make a living and the paps and the tabloids know about all the rumors, believe me. For those who think that anyone is that crazy to call paps daily for photos just think or how crazy that sounds. I ask you to think about it hard without the biases of "they are fake" attitude.

For the poster who is here for Austin only (LOL) really now, Austin's silence speaks volumes of I'm not gay and What, I have no baby and Jake who???

  51. Reeke don't need to call paps every time, all they have to do is go to places where paps hang out.

Ok, what is it? They hang out where the paps are or they call the paps? From the daily post, most think they call the paps.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Right, Smiley.

1, I wouldn't say that Jake would call for a set of shots like this. The guy doesn't crack a smile in a single one of these. He looks miserable and/or depressed. Now, either the guy is jacking around actually trying to look that way now or he really isn't having fun, I don't even know anymore. Who could look this unhappy? Giminy's.

2, if it was just the sleeves I was looking at, the shirt is definitely not a good fit. The only thing I can say why I don't exactly see it being Austin's is the length. It fits Jake just about right at his hips. If it was Austin's, there'd be nothing to tuck in. Ha! Just realized Jake doesn't for once have the half tucked in/half tucked out look.

3, interesting the sunglasses in a parking garage before you get outside. How can you see? Oh right, the flash from the cameras, lol. The tea cozy is now definitely ruled out as a weather related item.

4, he's too young to constantly be at medical buildings like this. Guess you don't know what kind of doctor it is he's seeing. But when you're 28, you go to the dentist twice a year (and most young people don't even do that) and you're lucky if you can ever get someone that age to go for a yearly.

Good morning! Hey, guys, I finished The Dying Gaul last night - was riveted by it. Ready to discuss now!! I have a few questions already. It was pretty suspenseful at times. Very good choice, Destiny!!

Rather interesting pr turn here, the drought, so to speak. To go from 3 straight weeks of practially daily homemovies of the two to one set in the last couple of weeks is a pretty abrupt change. Go figure. That's alright - not asking for more, that's for sure. You know, I wish it could be a happier occasion finally seeing some pictures of Jake without constant companion. But I can't take joy in these. There's something pretty wrong and it shows. I'll leave it at that.

  60. and my point is that PG and some posters want to pull Jake strings and they including you lol would be happy if he'd just follow their plan, And it's bS. He or any other star will be able to please fans. He wears a beard, oh I don't like it. He wears a beanie hat, oh I don't like it. He wears long hair, oh it looks gross, etc, etc,. Hopefully you get my point NOW. The man should please himself, not (some) fickled and fans.

  63. Get over yourself, observationist. We're here to voice our opinions. If we think Jake looks like sh*t or he looks unhappy we can say so. If we think he looks good we can say so. Voicing an opinion is not an attempt to make Jake do what we want him to do. You take things way out of context. This is a blog. It's not Jake's PR. They're the ones who pull Jake's strings with Jake's consent.
