What's my Line

For what other reason, reading Austin's comment over at Southern Gothic's page made "What's My Line" pop into my head. Maybe because you could see him charming them and stumping them at the same time. But would he sign is a Austin or as Lincoln.

There are so many interesting that he reveals in his writing:

I have been called many things, but "careful" is not one of them. My whimsical approach is usually always rewarded, but not what others would recomend[sic] or call, "fruitful." But I believe that it is the only way to be. The only way for me.

An artistic approach to living. It is what strikes him, and his success is not based in it's success or failure but more that it was the right choice for him.

She just wasn't used to the chivalrous, strong, honest, straight-forward, my-word-is-stronger-than-oak, Texas gentlemanly promise that I handed her. And I understand, it's quite intimidating. :)

Sincere but not without a little cheekiness to it. And show the writer that lives within the man.

And while all those things you know he's quirky and as Hilarie puts it - he's strange. And you know what, that's a good thing. Keep that good southern tradition going.

But you can see how he would be drawn to Lincoln from just one sentence in what he writes....

hiding behind the lens of his camera, not
focused on his own beating heart.

Why? Because Lincoln is an introvert, an artist, watching the world through his lens, Austin finds the familiar in that - but he also knows what its like to meet his own Mona Mills and change the aperture for good.

Speaking of What's my Line - could see Austin enjoying this strange artist on something so mainstream

Hope that Austin will write more cause know there's a lot more that he wants to say - and just as always - you've got a open invitation here ; ) If you're good we might let you play your favorite song too.

  1. I loved reading Austin's post. I especially loved the line about not being careful.

    SPECULATION ALERT!

And taking inspiration from that, I am going to speculate wildly here since RC, if he or she is the source of the photos from Tuesday, seems to be dropping hints. Was there a baby there? Was RDJ really there with the other man, and was Jake there with a nanny, and the person who saw them just assumed it was RDJ's wife?

Is this why someone last week said rumor has it BT is a girl?

    ReplyDelete
  2. Ok, let's not be sexist. The nanny could be a man.

  3. The woman in the photo looks like RDJ's wife:

    http://www.exposay.com/celebrity-photos/robert-downey-jr-and-wife-susan-levin-the-los-angeles-premiere-of-iron-man-arrivals-PMrklA.jpg

In the 1st picture Jake is sitting in the middle, in the second, Robert is sitting next to his wife and she is in the middle (you can see his hat in the mirror).

The child's coat or whatever has images of a blonde girl dancing with animals, it disappears in the second pic.

RC said that Jake was there with RDJ, wife and a man, but you don't see him unless SK decided not to post them maybe because the man didn't look familiar but the setting at the table is for 3 (3 bowls) and no hint of a fourth setting.

I don't believe in BT, but if there was I doubt Jake would bring a child out in a public place like that, besides when a child that age is taken out to eat, there is always some type of chair/seat so they can sit properly.

Rc is having s bit of fun.

  4. I just love the fact that Austin wrote on a blog. He does have a way with words. I've noticed that he uses the term lady or ladies a lot when referring to women. I don't know if that is a Texas thing but it sounds a bit odd. He says lady producer several times. I hope we hear a lot more from him.

As to comments made by others, this is the USA. People are free to do what they want regardless of what others think, as long as it is legal. Posting on a blog is an open invitation for response.

  5. (I've noticed that he uses the term lady or ladies a lot when referring to women.)

Most men I know who used the word lady or ladies often, myself included, were gay or bi or hiding something. This is my experience. Even if the man was masculine and did not fit the stereotype of what most think of as a gay men.

We posted everything RC sent us.

While Tom's comment is indeed out of place among the OTH fans "OMG! You and Sophia would be SOOOOO hot together!" posts, I highly doubt that the veil of doom has been drawn over OMG because of it.

Agreed. I would further add that we are all individuals on the blog and that often we do not believe the same way or agree on things. Maybe we should add a disclaimer to the blog saying, "Opinions posted by writers on this blog belong only to the individual who posted them and not to all the other posters or to the blog as a whole. This is true whether those opinions are posted here or on any other site."

  8. Kodak, I think we're all just having fun with this one. I have no idea what is going in those pictures, beyond what everyone can see. But I'm game for some more fun, so two more things. First, it's not clear if the child's coat "disappears" as that corner is black in the second picture. And interesting that you do agree it belongs to a child, and you seem to be able to make out a coat, more than I could tell. Two, who knows that there is on the other side of the table, you really don't get to see that. And maybe if there was another adult with a child there they left earlier, so that any paps outside didn't see them and/or the others wanted to stay later. The bowls look like the kind that might be used for coffee or dessert.

  9. Reading Austin's comments about looking at scripts I have to wonder what he thinks of some of the stuff that gets sent to him to look at. I would love to see what he decided was a pass and why he passed on it. I think that is just as interesting as what he says yes too.

  10. That post this morning was not meant as a joke or in any way sarcastic. It was meant as the way I feel about Jake and Austin. It said I can understand why Jakeloves Austin. It was not meant to demean anyone or to make fun of anyone. That was from my heart and those who know me know I did not make that post with the intent to hurt anyone.

I speak for no one else just me. So no one should feel like what I said was meant to reflect others feelings or OMG's. Jersey Tom is my blogger name.

If Jake or Austin especialy Austin ever reads my comments. That comment was made with no intent to hurt you. It was made only with what I feel. I missed out on dating and love in my twenties. What I see in Jake and Austin is something that I never had but wish I did. I would never make fun of that. Never and my heart is broken if anyone feels that way.

  11. Dear Ted:
I am an avid reader of the Awful Truth and have been a loyal subscriber to both E! Online and the E! Channel. I am convinced that Toothy Tile is Matthew McConaughey. Am I correct?
    —Alt

    Dear Sure Thing:
Sorry, but you got the wrong surfer, dude.

    Dear Ted:
I'm hooked on Awful Truths. Anyway, just watched James Franco in Milk. Is he or isn't he Toothy Tile?
    —Tarquinius

    Dear Speaking Franco:
    What makes you ask?

    Dear Ted:
You said that Toothy Tile is so far in the closet at the moment that he would pass any script with a topic related to homosexuality. Would Gray Goose do the same?
    —Jay

    Dear Good for the Goose:
    No.

  13. Look at that, Jake all by himself. Some days the angels do shine down on us. Deliberate? :-D

And can't help noticing "good for the goose"; not only a compliment, but possibly a comment on GG vis a vis the closet. Also sauce for the gander, i.e., TT should be more like GG.

Not sure what he is saying about Franco, other than he is gay. Not as far in the closet as TT, but he did have a woman with him at the SAG awards. And isn't this about the 100th time Ted has answered a letter from someone asking about MM? Has to be a reason for that one. Is the association with Jake, surfing and baby the reason?

  15. I wondered about the movies he's turned down to Special. Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the scripts weren't similar to things he's done in the past, I'm thinking more of those ensemble-type films. I would love to see him do a comedy, but seems like those always go to the same small group of actors.

  17. The evening came to an end with a rather bizarre speech from Jake Gyllenhaal, who met Fincher on the set of “Zodiac,” which may or may not have contained several interesting homoerotic double-entendres.

“David Fincher can’t fake it,” Gyllenhaal said of the director, a fitting remark about the director whose most remarkable achievement over his career is his dedication to taking what the audience wants into consideration while still making worthwhile and interesting films that pull no punches.

  18. Then it wasn't tacky at all, Tom, and I apologize. For what's it's worth, people are so hypersensitive in Jake's life regarding "the gay", because it's fine to say that a guy is loved by his pal. Friends love many things about other friends.

If you're a homophobic Hollywood manager trying to de-gay your client's rep, however... And where there's smoke there's fire in this situation, and the powers that be are doing their bigoted, $$$-in-eyeballs best to douse it.

    You're a phobe, Evelyn.

  21. I really took a good look at that coat Destiny. I cant believe RDJ's wife was wearing that coat and actually there are two coats there. I don't see any kids in the mirror sitting at the table across from Jake.

Still seems weird why they are all sitting on the same side of the table. Maybe Jake is keeping an eye on somebody. Hard to beleive Jake would do such a thing though. If his daughter is in that restaurant you would think she be screaming for her Daddy.

Yes it is a blonde drawn girl and a donkey with tall ears. Reese is not there. It was RDJ, Susan, Jake on 1 side, 1 guy on other side. It was cold outside. Plenty of room, the little girl thing on seat didn't belong to other table.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Don't blame it on me. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  29. That was my first thought, it looked like a coat, a little girl's coat, but for an older child, and that it might have belonged to whoever was at the adjacent table.

I don't think Tom's post was such a disaster. It's an open blog which means anyone can post what they want. I'm curious to see if the post will get any reaction.

I guess if Jake took BT out with RDJr & his wife most would think the baby was RDJ's. You know, like when you see a couple and a single guy & a baby most naturally assume the baby belongs to the couple. Smart move Jake. But that means that RDJ knows all about Jake his little family and still did the Ojai photo op. Hmmmmm.
BTW if there was a baby why didn't RC get a pic? Was the baby at an angle the camera couldn't pick?

I have to admit feeling a little nervous when I saw his post, curious if someone would write something about Jake, and then when I came on to the blog and saw the posts about Tom's comment I expected the worst, but to be honest it was pretty harmless and the follow up commment was super sweet. I think if they were offended the comment would have been removed and it is still there so that tells me something.

  42. Re Ted's mention of a surfer, Austin did play a surfer in JFC. Not sure how it connects to what was said but sometimes I think Ted rushes a bit. Amazing how in all these years of Jake being the number 1 toothy candidate, no one ever guesses Jake.

  53. A mention of OMG in Cantara's blog-

    link

    ReplyDelete
  54. What's there to doubt, Cantara has always lurked around Jake's fandom. And she was mixed up somehow for a bit with Jake Watch, and wasn't there rumors she was feeding the babblers "information"? And equating Jake's fan sites with torturers? Boy, that's a new one on me. I'd like to see how long Jake survives in HW without any fans.

    ReplyDelete
  55. and wasn't there rumors she was feeding the babblers "information"

    Not just rumors.
UV and FL tried to keep it a secret that their "source" was Cantara because even they know that she isn't credible.
They shouldn't have let some of their posters in on it, though. Some of them bragged about Cantara being the source and used her emails to try and shut people up on various sites.

And look, Cantara included the Babblers in the torturers category, too.
I'm guessing she wasn't happy about her giving the Babblers some more information about the Gyllenhaals "private" life and "their" thoughts on things and then they didn't even want to give her the credit!
How dare they? Don't they know that everybody must bow down to her amazing knowledge of every thought and action of every single member of the Gyllenhaal family?

    ReplyDelete
  56. You are getting GB mixed up with JW. Cantara was involved with Brit pop and Prophecy Girl who ran JW, UV and FL never claimed to have insider info from Cantara.

Brit Pop and Prophecy girl were the one's that used e-mails from Cantara and shared them with posters.

Why do you think Cantara puts GB, WDW and IHJ together with OMG? Because after that incident with Jake's father in Oct. of '06, a lot of fans were disgusted with her.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I guess UV and FL were too much even for Cantara. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  58. Cantara is a piece of work. I take her criticism of OMG as a compliment. I would not be surprised if she doesn't post comments under false names on all of the Jake blogs.

Thinking more on Austins blog. Interesting that he makes a reference to Romeo and Juliet on the heels of Ted making a similar comment. Strange coincidence.

Re the baby, Ted has hinted several times that baby is male so I doubt that is a credible info.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I don't think Pathetic is wrong. UV and FL hinted around that they had "inside" information.

    ReplyDelete
  60. The inside info they are hinting at is not from Cantara.

Cantara never had any real insider info, she was just messing around with Jake's fandom to sell his fathers shitty poetry.

    ReplyDelete
  61. You are getting GB mixed up with JW. Cantara was involved with Brit pop and Prophecy Girl who ran JW, UV and FL never claimed to have insider info from Cantara.

UV and FL hinted at having "inside" info on their blog and revealed some of it but would never say who it was from.

About a week or so later someone put up a post about Jake on their Livejournal.
Some of the Babblers went there and said exactly the same things that UV and Fl revealed and prefaced it by saying that the info is from emails that Cantara frequently wrote (still writes?) to the Gyllenbabble owners.

Clearly Cantara either didn't learn anything or just doesn't care because she wanted to have some more of the unquestioned adoration that she got back in the JakeWatch days (before she revealed that Ramona was born without Maggies consent).

    ReplyDelete
  62. The inside info they are hinting at is not from Cantara.

They hinted at having insider info several times, so I think that's where the confusion is coming from.

The first time they hinted at it, they actually got emails from Cantara.
The next time it was Jeff (as Brothers Spy) claiming to have insider info and them happily letting him post it all.
And then it was UV and FL saying that they're friends with one of the actors on PoP.

Anyone who believes a word they say must be truly gullible.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Sass from GB has admitted to corresponding with Cantara and getting info from her.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Could you post the link to the LJ. I lurk on GB from time to time and I have never seen what you have posted. Anon. posters come along and post things there claiming they are insiders, but that happens everywhere and that was not from UV and FL.

Cantara trashes GB on her blog.

So it would be helpful if you could link to the LJ and the comments.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Sass doesn't run GB, UV and FL do, there is a difference.

If Sass is forwarding info from Cantara to GB that is different then UV and FL e-mailing Cantara.

UV and FL were around when the shit hit the fan with Jake's father and they loathe Cantara so I doubt they believe anything from her.

We all know about Brothers spy, and FL is friends with the agent of one of the actors from Pop, that is true.

  66. I have a friend who's a pap in LA. More info there than Craptara.

  67. The livejournal post was quite a while ago. I remember that it was from an fanfic author, I think she had two different nicknames and it was posted in one of the journals.
I remember that her stories were about Jack/Ennis and I think the title was something containing "Best Friends". That's all I remember, sorry. I do know that I saw the posts from the Babbler though, so I won't go through all the authors just to find it again.

The Babbler commenting that the info was from Cantara was a regular, named Babbler that - as far as I could tell - got along great with UV and FL, so I don't know why she would put UV and FL into such a situation. Especially since using the argument "because Cantara said it" only makes you less credible.

UV and FL were around when the shit hit the fan with Jake's father and they loathe Cantara so I doubt they believe anything from her.
They might say that they loathe her on the blog, but they were still happy to use her "insider" info.
They also said that they want Jeff to stop posting and yet they not only gave him the opportunity to return as Brothers Spy, they even acted as messengers between him and the other posters. If you really think that they didn't eventually figure out it's him, then you must think they're pretty stupid.

FL is friends with the agent of one of the actors from Pop, that is true.
And you know this because FL said so?
Maybe I remember this wrong, but didn't she just happen to meet that agent again just before it was announced that the actor was hired for PoP? Whoa, what a coincidence...

    Like I said, gullible.

  73. That woman - Cantara - is so stupid, there are no words.

Funny how she mixes all the fansides - and I don´t think she even has contact with Jake or his people. That ship has sailed a long time ago.

She even posted on IHJ to bash Jakes mom and was suprised that the girls there called her out. And Stephen G. has lost nearly all respect - did they really believe anyone was interested in his poetry besides Jakes fandom?

I cannot remember anyone here or on one of the other sides claiming to have contact to Cantara. If someone has other informations I would like to see a link. The only ones I can remember are the JakeWatch girls and Dave Cullen himself. (The non "trashy sides" according to C.)
