Erin Go Braugh

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Even if you're not Irish, everyone is Irish today. Even stormtroopers can get their Irish on.

The Irish tradition of a céilidh, was a social gathering of any sort, and did not necessarily involve dancing which can be included today. The 'ceilidh' is a literary entertainment where stories and tales, poems and ballads, are rehearsed and recited, and songs are sung, conundrums are put, proverbs are quoted, and many other literary matters are related and discussed.

So a little céilidh for OMG. Ireland has given the world some of the greatest literature, great musicians, great actors and directors, and some great movies, not mention Guinness and great whiskey.

So what are some of you favorite gifts that Ireland has given? Favorite Irish writer or poet? Irish literature? Irish musician? Movie? Traditions? Oh the dancing. You're on your own. Same goes for the Guinness.

Jake and Austin ?
Well you know rainbows and lucky charms are the easy go-to for today.

So going for the pot of gold and picking the Blarney Stone.

All Austin's waterskiing and Jake's parkour (did you think I was going to say yoga?) they shouldn't have a problem with the flexibility needed to kiss their "favorite" Blarney Stone. But do they get the gift of gab from theirs and say something like Pogue Mahone?

You all should be ashamed. ; )

“For each petal on the shamrock this brings a wish your way.
Good health, good luck, and happiness for today and every day.”

  1. U2, Sinead O'Conner and Guiness beer, just to name a few green things that I love.

And Special, what in the heck is Evacuation Day, it's on my calendar as a Sufolk County, Mass. holiday.

  2. Hi All,

    Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Ireland's greatests gift, among the many, to me, are its writers and music - William Butler Yeats, James Joyce. Music - The Chieftans, The Dubliners, Sinead O'Connor, The Cranberries, Shane MacGowan and The Pogues, Enya, Clannad, U2. The wonderful spirit.

I agree with AG, I'm still enjoying Jaustin pics, can't keep up with all of the J&R pics so I've given up trying. :)

Cheers with a pint 'o Guinness to ya! ;)

  3. Oops, add Van Morrison to that list! :) And Ireland's beautiful Gaelic language is a gift.

  4. Evacuation Day is celebrated for the day the British troops left Boston. Now Suffolk County and State employees have it off. Cheers!

The Dropkick Murphy's kicked off celebrating at The Black Rose at 6:00 am this morning to open up the pub, people got inline a little after 5am to get in.

And at this point, there are good crowds at bars and pubs all over up here that have been there already for an hour or two.

U2 was here last week, Black 47, and The Pogues are here this week. We kind of stretch out it here for bit.

And Tom I have both a Red Sox shamrock and a Phillies Shamrock shirt to choose from today. Hmmmm decisions decisions.

  5. Just for your info NETB Irish people, like me, never ever call the language Gaelic.
In English you call the language Irish (eg "I speak Irish"), and in Irish it is Gaeilge (eg "as Gaeilge" = "in Irish").

Go raibh maith agat! (Thank you.)

  6. I stand corrected! :)

  7. In English:
The language is usually referred to in English as Irish, sometimes as Modern Irish or Irish Gaelic. The term Irish Gaelic is often used when English speakers discuss the relationship among the three Goidelic languages (Irish, Scottish Gaelic, and Manx) or when discussion of Irish is confused to mean Hiberno-English, the form of English as spoken in Ireland.

So, in fairness to the person above, "Ireland's Gaelic language, isn't incorrect, especially if they are an English speaker and not Irish.

  8. The Pogues, the Chieftains, Sinead O'Connor, Brendan Behan. Plus, green is my favorite color.

  9. Thanks Special, I figured the holiday probably had something to do with the British and the Revolutionary War.

  10. In my early exit out the door this morning, I forgot to bring my Irish Rovers music CD with me to work. It's a pretty good cd, too. So instead right now on my internet radio station, I'm hearing Crash Test Dummies "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm". Doesn't exactly conjure up images of clovers & leprachauns. But I have decorations on my inner cube walls and got the lime shebert colored top on. Bright green St Patty socks. And a little leprachaun pin.

Oh boy, and corned beef & cabbage. Irish soda bread. I could not believe how good it was when I had it. I never ate cabbage by itself because I couldn't get past the smell. Then last year at a little dinner event, I had to try it & found it was fantastic.

Wicked, green is my nephew's favorite color, too. Almost obssessd with it at times, lol.

Well, nothing else to add today. You all have a great rest of the day!

  11. I love soda bread and cabbage, pastrami too before I stopped eating meat. And I like certain shades of green, but I'm not a big fan of the color associated with Ireland. It looks really good on Austin, not so much on Jake.

  12. Best Irish Movies of All Time

Have you all been reading that Natasha Richardson, wife of Liam Neeson, had a skiing accident yesterday and has a brain injury? I hope she is okay.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh no, I didn't read that - I hope she's going to be ok too. I've always loved Liam Neeson.

Green is also my fave color, all shades, from forest to sea green, and I no longer eat the corned beef, just the vegetables now. :)

I loved The Crying Game, and The Commitments is one of my favorite movies too.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yes, I have, it doesn't sound good. :-( Natasha and Liam are so talented, and they've always seemed like a nice normal couple that largely avoids the limelight.

  15. Happy St. Patricks Day everyone. On this day in 1993 I marched in the St. Pattys Day parade in Dublin, Ireland. I went with a radio station that sponsored a nine day tour and we got to march in the parade. On that same trip I did kiss the Blarney Stone. It was not easy at all. Actually it was scary. Ireland is a very beautiful country and I want to go back again some day.

  16. Ah Spesh on this day last year I was at Brighthouse Park in Clearwater, Florida and got to watch the Phils play with their green jerseys. Fun but I am glad they dont wear them everyday. I love those red pinstripes.

Don't look. Just ignore. Take a deep breath and look at those biking pics. We know what is real and what is fake:-)

  18. So tragic about Natasha Richardson

Also, one of the producers of Natasha’s upcoming Broadway show, A Little Night Music, which N.R. was supposed to perform with her mom, Vanessa Redgrave, has been informed Richardson is “brain dead.”

Reps for Richardson are not, as yet, commenting.

  21. Happy St Pats to all, a bit late in the day. Austin Nichols media has a new pic of Austin from The Informers. In bed with a man. Looking hot.

    ReplyDelete
  22. He does look really hot in that picture.

And interesting that it's getting a screening at a German gay film festival before it opens; I also noticed that Mysteries of PIttsburgh is being shown at the same festival;. The festival looks a lot more interesting than the recent gay film festivals in NY.

  23. The black jeans and those legs again, not to mention the whole angle of his body, and the look on his face. Perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The long legs, blond hair, bare chest, toned body. If that scene is explicit in any way, this slash addict is a goner. I may be saying Jake who?

Austin carries himself with a lot of grace too. Must be all that water skiing.

  26. I had a dream that while Reese was back in LA (which she is) Jake is with Austin in NC. They were alone together at a house where Austin is, just the two of them, being very physically playful and no one knew they were together and a couple and that Jake was spending time with Austin. The revelation of where Jake was and their secret life and the happiness they showed was so startling that it woke me up. Let's hope it's true.

  27. Spesh, The Secret of Roan Inish is one of my faves as well.

Since we're doing Harold and Maude this month

Wow, look at Bud Cort. He was in a movie called The Chocolate War that I also really liked.

Very worrying that Natasha Richardson's reps and family are not saying anything. Makes me think things are very bad. Sigh. My thoughts are with their family.

  28. Natasha Richardson is brain dead - after falling in a ski accident in Canada - and is now on sad journey home to New York, friends told The Post Tuesday.

  30. I feel really upset about Natasha, more than I normally would with someone like this. I think it's because she was such a big, strong-looking vibrant woman, and only in her 40s. You just don't expect what seems, from the reports we have, like a garden variety accident to turn out like this. It's such a devasting reminder of how short life can be. And I would have loved to see her in A Little Night Musci, I always go to the Sondheim revivals.

  31. Hi everybody !!

It's a beautiful day here , already spring and yet it's an awful day too.

I am absolutely horrified by this sad new about Liam Neeson's wife.
Fate is terrible sometimes. I really don't know what to add, can only have thoughts for her family.

Yes these horrible accidents make you think how short is life.

  37. Just another commercial from Jake and Reese, this time for Avon.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hey Tom, I also kissed the Blarney Stone and I have the photos to prove it - I had no idea ahead of time that you had to hang off the side of a castle to get to do it. It was scary!

Love all the new posts from fans about Austin. He's getting a lot of attention lately.

Interesting that the Jake and Austin bromance is being mentioned again. Maybe it's a sign of a lot of new sightings to come.

  39. When Reese arrived at Sony Studios in Culver City, Calif., to shoot an Avon commercial recently, she was wearing her new engagement ring, two set sources tell Star — but then decided she wasn't ready to go public.

"It was gorgeous, and everyone noticed it right away," says one eyewitness. "But she took it off as soon as she saw people staring. Reese stuffed it in her bag and didn't put it on again the rest of the day."

    She thought nobody would notice?
