Boot Scooting?

Austin's ridden a bike, a horse, jet ski, surf board, some willing ladies, and even a dirt bike on screen but you thought, "there is one thing I've read he's ridden but I've never seen."

Remember this from Hilarie over at Southern Gothic a little while back?

"Austin rode 45 minutes on a scooter, all the way across the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles to eat eggs and split a crazy big 47 grain (exaggeration) pancake with Lis and me. He knew more than a couple people in the restaurant. He's been taking meetings out west with agents and managers, doing really solid work to get this project rolling. He's going to make this movie great. But he's not a slick LA man. This is a southern creature we are talking about. He belongs in our sleepy little town, rocking on front porches and sipping on sweet tea."

And a lot people were trying to picture him on a scooter. Well picture no more. Because he's ridden and it was captured on screen. It comes from that instant classic Holiday in The Sun.

Is it me or is Austin's lower leg as long as the Olsen twins' from their waist down? : )

Hmmmm... what country has Austin spoken about in interviews, loves their movies, their style, kidded about a Julian & Brooke spin off there, his brother in law as blogged about possibly meeting up with him there, is known for scooters and has been in all the news about a recent wedding? hmmmm

And on this Austin Friday, go check out the new preview and the great screencaps from the return of Julian on OTH. Thanks Spooky, Vesperlynd and ANJ.

And my apologies to Vesperlynd. A belated Happy Birthday to you. And a big thank you for finding so many great pictures of Austin.

Just two episodes of OTH left this season. And then soon Austin will be back in Wilmington shooting Season 7, this time as a series regular.

  1. Good morning!! Hey, guess what?? It's raining here! surprise, surprise..lol

Man. I hope it doesn't do this all day. It might lead me to horrifying things, like vacuuming and picking up around the place. Dusting. Putting away winter clothes.

Wicked, that would be awesome, so awesome. I hope it works out. I'm getting really excited. 28 more days. I can't believe I'll really be there. That's as far north as I've ever been. It's almost to the other end of the country! Well, guess I've been to Miami & Key West, but that's south, that's way different. And that was so long ago. This is Fenway Park north. Revolutionary War north. Cobblestone streets north. And maybe even a Christopher Colombus-time big ship north. You know, homemade, dripping wax candles & The British are coming! The British are coming! north.

I know. It's 2009. Is there a strip mall now where that docked ship used to be?

Go the distance. Ease his pain. I may have to watch Field of Dreams again. Haven't seen that in ions. And watch that part where Ray Kinsella travels to Boston and meets Moonlight Graham. And they go to Fenway Park, get some hot dogs and I think that message comes up on the scoreboard. Or in Ray's head, I can't remember which.
But I like the scenes where Ray's walking the barely lit brick streets downtown and he sees Dr. Graham walking along the sidewalk. And I always liked the looks of those night scenes. I wonder if they really filmed that in Boston somewhere.

Oh well. Getting all off topic.

Like young Austin on the scooter! I wonder if I can find something on YouTube about that movie.

  2. People will come, Ray. They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your driveway not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. Of course, we won't mind if you look around, you'll say. It's only $20 per person. They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it,for it's money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers, sit in shirtsleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. And the memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game....it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray, people will most definitely come.Field of Dreams.

One of my favorite all time speeches from a movie. That's how I think of baseball. 40+ yr old mental health workers, accountants, and production line 8-5ers spending an evening every week to play a game they don't get paid to, in fact they pay to play in a rec league with others nursing weak ankles & 15 yr old bum knees. Carrying shiny new bats bought at the local sporting goods store, a scuffed up white bucket of assorted softballs, and a dusty, dirty, stiffened up black bat bag. And maybe some sports rub thrown in there. Friends, spouses, and kids in the aluminum bleachers. Swatting at mosquitoes. Still getting mad at the umps. Eyeballing the "ringer" that other team has brought in subbing for that night.

No electronic scoreboards. No advertising anywhere in that ballpark. No fountains and loud music, no luxury suites and separate seating for the have-nots. Just the wooden seats, the players, the bats & the balls, the hot dogs & popcorn, and well, maybe the organ player & the ballpark announcer. And a 66 degree summer day. That's it. All ya need.

Man, I miss that. Those were some of the funnest evenings and I didn't even realize it at the time. Never knew how fondly I would look back on it.

  3. Okay, I'll get off. Don't worry; I'm not going to hang out all day, makin' you scroll past yards & yards of mundane dribble.

I gotta say, it felt good to talk about something else because all this marriage talk and stuff is depressing the heck out of me, bringing me way down.

I dunno. We've got to do something. We can't continue like this. We've gotta snap out of it.
Cause this isn't doing any of us any good. It's just makin' my stomach kind of bleh. This is such a good, good group of people. What has happened to us?

What's it going to take? We need some cheerful stories. Some funny jokes. Some fun reminiscing. We just need some lovin' around here.

Or maybe it's just me? lol, yeah, probably. Projecting, isn't that a popular term? Maybe everyone else is okay with it and it's just me who's getting discouraged.

I'll leave ya alone. I'm headin' back to bed. Love your niece's picture, Special! She did a great job and tell her thanks for sharing it. Oh, and I have checked out those OTH previews. I can't wait; definitely not going to forget to watch those episodes. Austin looks great in them.

  4. PG, you should read The Given Day by Dennis Lehane. I just recommended it to Spesh. It's set in Boston just after WWI. Baseball is threaded all through it. It's about the Boston police department's attempt to unionize and get treatly fairly by the city. Juxtaposed with that are parts about Babe Ruth and his contract negotiation with the Sox. I really like how Lehane writes Ruth and weaves the stories together.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I really do have to sneak this movie onto the top of my Netflix que.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I may have to check that book out too. I really like Lehane and have read a lot of his books, but I haven't heard of this one.

  7. Hi there everyone. Great posts lately, I loved the Hugh Jackman one. It was really creative.

I just wanted to give my two cents on all the recent appearances. When I see stars make a concerted effort to attract attention I think something is up. Something you should ask yourself What is going on? when you see PR in overdrive. I think perhaps all the lovey Jake and Reese press is a preemptive move.

Abbie may let engagement news slip when she's at Cannes. It would be just like BWR to sandwich lots of "Reese Finds Love With Someone Who Deserves Her!!" headlines to counterbalance any potential Ryan Moves On headlines.

    Remember the rules:
    1. Nothing that shows up in the tabloids is by chance.
    2. These people are living lives where reality has a completely different meaning then it does to you or me.
    3. It's all a game and most of them are willing participants. Either because they are dragged in or they jumped in on their own.

P.S. I heard Maggie's not pleased that Reese and Jake took her private wedding and made all sorts of news with it.

  8. TR

Seemed to me that Reese was driving the bus on the PR machine around the wedding. She shows up in airport 500 miles from the wedding, after everyone else in the wedding party made to Italy without a glimpse. She was consistently put first in the pairing, and interjected sometimes oddly into pre wedding events. I don't think guys really say ... oh oh say she was at the bridal shower, or she caught the bouquet. Sorry that's catty girl stuff.

But it makes you wonder if Maggie is upset with her mother as well.

I am not feeling any sympathy for Maggie. It seemed like she was the last hold out on this facade. But Maggie finally caved because reese had to be at this wedding. There was no way her brothers fake gf could not be there. It would have been a Pr disaster for reeke had she not.
I think Maggie should have held her guns but I think she loves her brother and knows he is desperate. Maggie should have done what was really best for her brother though. Insist he stop living a lie.

    ReplyDelete
  11. She's part of the lie though. All of these individuals are living for fame and money and have nothing to gain from Jake being outed.

    ReplyDelete
  12. TR, any sense of what aspect Maggie is not happy about? The leaks to People with the details that of course put the emphasis on Reeke being there? The Reeke photos on the beach? The few photos taken of the wedding?

I think Jake signed off on his beard's photos at the Milan airport. He wanted everyone to know she was coming, and exactly when she got there. And I'm betting that if that is all we got Maggie wouldn't be unhappy.

You have to stoop pretty low to use your own sister's wedding for publicity if she didn't want you to do that. I'm sure she picked a remote place and leaked the wrong date to avoid having any intrusions on her wedding.

    ReplyDelete
  13. One other question TR, if you know. In a situation like Maggie's wedding, and the photos of Reese in Milan, the People article, etc., wouldn't both parties, i.e., Jake and Reese, have to sign off on it? Could it just come from Reese?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Jake sank really low and was very selfish to use his sister’s special day for his own publicity. Jake is responsible for all the Italy pictures. He chose to bring the beard and the paps. It should have been a private family event for Maggie and Peter and he turned it into a Reeke publicity show. He always has to be the center of attention. I think this show his values and priorities.

Pap pics; average views per pic:

    5/7/2006: 952
    5/7/2007: 720
    5/16/2008: 610
    5/7/2009: 84

Granted not everyone who is interested has seen the current pics. But going by numbers of the past year's sets, average views have been around 200 at best.

Yes, people register at a site and leave, or they see the pics elsewhere and have no reason to check out IHJ. But to go from those numbers, almost 20,000 down to, I'm guessing maybe 100-200 that go on the site, and to have average pic views of over 900 drop to 200 in 3-4 years, that's pretty bad IMO.

  16. Reese in Italy told me one thing.

Austin was in Italy at the wedding.

Again I ask how did the bride groom family and friends get to Italy and basically no picture takens until 6 of the wedding from long lenses, and only two of the couple and the 4 of Maggie Peter Jake and the mystery bike.

Reese arrived in Italy and the paps find her everywhere?

That tells me that Reese drove the bus and dropped the dimes.

Then Jake is still a willing participant. And so is Austin for agreeing to hide away while Reeke cavorted.

  18. Italy is a big countryMay 8, 2009 at 1:33 PM

    It takes two to tango.

Reese couldn't have known where and when the wedding was without Jake. Jake and his mother willingly posed for the photos, which as someone pointed out, apparently involved two photographers.

If Reeke had done this before the wedding, Maggie probably would have kicked Jake's ass all the way back across the Atlantic because she clearly did not want anyone knowing where and when she was getting married, and, if Austin was there, they wanted to make sure he got out of town before they drew everyone's attention to where they were.

Reeke and their pr are so insecure that they couldn't let it go without pictures to prove she was right there with him in Italy.

Maggie wasn't pissed off, Maggie, Jake, Peter and Reese are all repped by CAA. Jake made sure he was seen at LAX right after the news "leaked" about Maggie's wedding. Then a few days later we see Reese at the airport. Maggie and her PR leaked the wedding info out but gave the wrong dates. She and Peter must have known that Jake and Reese would bring their 3 ring circus to Italy.

There were no pics of the wedding or the guests with the exception of a few pics of Jake and his parents and a few of Maggie and Peter before the ceremony, that's it.She got what she wanted : a private ceremony, I don't think she and Peter could care less about the paps following Jake and Reese around, better them than her and Peter.

Maggie and Peter may be "private" but they are so full of them selves and walk around like their shit doesn't stink, just like her parents.

Jake's turn to drive. Until he attracts too much attention.

    Fill in the blank.

Poor Maggie must have known that Jake and Reese would be more of interest than she and Peter, it's a fact like them or not.

BTW, Maggie is a snob, and is full of herself, poor Peter.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Reese was more of interest because Reese's PR organized 3-4 paparazzi photo shoots.

  34. "Jake sank really low."

When your career is in the tank, desperation is to be expected. Watching Jake now is like watching a slow motion trainwreck. This bearding charade has destroyed his credibility with the best actors and directors. They won't work with him, and quite frankly, I don't blame them. I wouldn't either.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Regardless of whether Maggie is full of herself, she deserves to have her wedding be about her and Peter, not her brother and his beard. And even if she didn't want paps, etc., still doesn't mean she didn't want or shouldn't have some attention and pr for herself from her own wedding. Weddings are usually one of the most important events in a person's life, and I'd be angry too if I felt my big event had been trivialized like this.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Given Reese's history, its really no wonder why she doesn't give a shit about other people's relationships in families and why she has to be the center of attention, the main act. Even tho I always thought Jake was the attention seeker in his family it seemed like Maggie and all of them kept him in check. But hanging around Reese, he enables her to dominate not only over him but also his family and their activities. Reese is just, I don't know..but there's something off about her. In interviews and everything you can tell its all an act, that she's behaving and saying things the way she thinks people want her to be but that she doesn't truly feel whatever it is. I get the strong impression that she's twice removed from feeling anything and that she doesn't have any intimate relationships, because its all about Reese and what she can get.

Yeah he signed on the line for PoP and you got your cut. But I believe you have destroyed the mans career. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

  43. I truly believe Jake was admired by his peers and almost everyone in HW. I remember how Charlize hugged him when he won the Bafta. I wonder what she thinks about what he is doing now. She wont marry till everyone is allowed the opportunity. Jake is living a lie. He should be a leader when it comes to important issues like Prop 8. He wouldnt touch prop 8 with a ten foot pole. When a man wont comment on the death of a man who gave Jakes career a whole new life because he doesnt want to assoc with gay issues tjhat is sad very very sad.

  54. US Reekly has Maggie's wedding article on IHJ. Wedding guests have shrunk from 40 to 30. Apparently the B&B place has only 9 rooms. So where did all the guests stay? And not a single pap pic of any of the guests. Moving around town, arriving at the wedding, nada. BUT we get enough pics of Reeke lying in the dust and nuzzling while Mama G, a PR assistant and 2 paps take pics. If this doesn't say photo op and fake relationship, I really don't know what will. It amazes me that there are still people (babblers) who think this relationship is real.

The excuse for Reese not traveling with Jake is that she was filming in Philadelphia. Was she??

BTW, where are Jakey's beloved step children? Weren't they invited for Aunty Maggie's wedding?
