When Worlds Collide

It was supposed to be a story of a girl from the prairie and a wicked one from Washington coming North, and it ended up in a mash up of photo ops that has the potential for a Boston New York rivalry.
Beautiful day in the neighborhood and all is good and then....it happened....

Hey look Boston has hats.... you could get yourself another one... you know to make it look like its one of mine, like you do.

Not looking. Not Funny

Hey signs for Italy. That reminds me of .....Austin

See this face. You know what it means. Basta Austin.

No they say Bahston, not Basta.

What about some coffee. Boston has good coffee. Cappuccino in the North End. You know you like to do that. It's one of your when in doubt go-to's.

Shut up.

What's the problem?

Come on I see a unicorn. You know you like unicorns.

You know you're a jerk.

Hey look a rainbow.

Not listening - I know what I know. You don't see rainbows. Yeah right, keep thinking that sister (under his breath)

So they saw paparazzi. They knew someone with a camera. They got their picture taken. It happens.
You know maybe the one from DC will tell you where all the paps hang out there.

Seriously shut up. You are so not funny.
Oh yeah I am.

All Non Photo Op pictures (ie.the "happy" couple) are from mini meet in Massachusetts this past weekend.

  1. Gulping down some coffee before I leave for the airport. This is hilarious. One of the best ever.

Sienna, Jake has said that his parents fought a lot when he was young, so yes the happy parents may have been only as happy as Reeke after all. I've known more than one seemingly "happy" couple where the wife was having a torrid affair, or the husband just up and disappeared one day. Blew me away.

  2. very funny!!! you guys were smart to fly under the radar. we all know what constant papage does to your face and pointy finger. makes you scowly and obnoxiously pointy!

love the hats and the rainbow and the unicorn. great post!!! you made me laugh. :)

  3. Very funny, and great pictures. I especially love the unicorn and the "Identities protected" pictures.

  4. m: I was really surprised when i read about how SG sort of abandoned her to her fate with the creditors and stuff. That was pretty harsh and speaks of a very unhappy break-up and resentful man, not a peaceful parting of the ways.

i think the thing that is currently striking me as the most fake thing about Reeke is the lack of any personal details. after what - 2 years? - of togetherness, we actually know NOTHING about them. there isn't one substantiated fact that they've given us in all this time. the whole romance/fauxmance is done strictly in pictures. they've never done a red carpet event together or been photo'd at any other big HW shindig. they drink coffee, they shop, and he clears the way so she can walk down the sidewalk like Queen Elizabeth Junior. But they don't every talk about their romance; when was the last time we saw pics of him with her kids?; and other than the very obvious denied proposal rumors, their relationship is as flatline as public interest in it.

    *grumble grumble*

  5. Path Clearer.

LOLLLLL, Sienna! That was excellent. Yes, as everyone can really see now ever since that return to LAX after the wedding, it's all about the power trip. It's about Jake doing the stiff arm in front of her and the protective hand at her elbow and then any other entourage with them, carrying the bags or being bodyguard.

It's Her Witheredspoonness with her Royal Court.

But, that's all the attention I'm paying to her, is to point that out. Because other than that, she isn't worth the effort key typing nor worth the stress on my eyeballs from the constant eyeball rolling.

I think Jake looks great, despite the constant frown (because we know who's the real cause behind all that and what's with the big jawbreaker or gumball in his mouth in this second set of pics). He's really rocking that black T.

m, I'm going to ask Special one more time to send me your email!!!!
I might have to hurt her.
    ;D

Oh! Had some awesome fish n chips last night! We ate at a place that was just across from the ocean. The fish tasted so clean. Long John Silver's will never taste the same again. Well, at least Red Lobster won't. I don't do LJ's hardly anymore because they keep jacking their prices up and their coupons aren't worth diddley.
    Do you hear that, LJ?
I had to get a rant in there somewhere, lol!

It's been a great weekend and now I must go finish packing up to get ready for the trip home to olllll' Suburbia! The land of big box stores, endless traffic lights, and big honkin SUV's.

Special was the ultimate hostess and it was splendid having Wicked here as well. I can share a little bit more about our weekend later. Special needs to get on her computer (LOL!) and she says it takes forever for me to type one single comment.

    I know!

  6. Ok, just to shut PG up, I have forwarded the email address.

We ran across little things all over Boston (and we were allllll over Boston) that had a little OMG flavor. So had to share them. But then yesterday's pictures showed up, and the forces were too strong to resist. (and I have to keep hold of my keys to the bus to hell)

  7. Because other than that, she isn't worth the effort key typing nor worth the stress on my eyeballs from the constant eyeball rolling.

LOL PG. Have to agree with you on that one. But I can't agree with you on Jake looking good. While I appreciate a nice body in form fitting t-shirts as much as the next person, I really can't separate it out from the face. The the tense, repressed body language and the unhappy, blank, spiritually dead look on Jake's face stops me cold every time. I look at the photos, but very quickly just to see what is going on.

    ReplyDelete
  8. destiny: i agree. i don't think he looks good. the spiritually dead remark is right on in my book. he looks like someone sucked out his soul but left his body intact. i find myself going back to the old pictures, when he was a teenager or young man, pre-reeke, and just focusing on those.

while i was in florida, karla and connie bailey and i watched TDAT and i just couldn't help but think how sweet and cute and wonderful he was. i love his soft, sweet voice. i miss all the good things that he gave me and want them back really bad. if that means i'm selfish, well, there you go: i'm selfish.

reeke has just about sucked all the goodness out of him and i have a hard time understanding how even the most diehard reeke supporters can't see that now. it's taken a while, longer than i expected, actually, for him to lose his game face, but IMHO, it's totally gone now and the lie is out there for anyone to see who gives it more than a passing thought.

  10. I'm going to post this link again, because I thought people might want to look at stills from Brothers.

    Brothers

Jake looks good and who knew he could do prison issue so well. I have to say I am looking forward to seeing it, I think it's going to be good. I really think the dynamic between Jake, Natalie and Tobey is going to be good especially under Sheridan's direction.

  15. Great pics of Boston. Sounds like you guys had a great time eating and seeing the sites. I'm sure a good time was had by all. That's the one thing I miss most from the east coast - the food..sigh.

I was thinking about saying some stuff about the "other" pics and the video - but I'm not. Like PG said its not really worth the effort to be snarky. I'm in a good mood and I want to keep it that way. I think I'm going to watch Doubt tonight on DVD. I really like Meryl Streep. I hope its good.

    Have a good nite everyone : )

  16. The Supreme Court on Monday turned down a challenge to the Pentagon policy forbidding gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military, granting an Obama administration request to maintain the Clinton-era "don't ask, don't tell" directive. The court said it will not hear an appeal from former Army Capt. James Pietrangelo II, who was dismissed under the military's policy.
...In court papers, the administration said the appeals court ruled correctly in this case when it found that "don't ask, don't tell" is "rationally related to the government's legitimate interest in military discipline and cohesion." Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman referred requests for comment to the Justice Department, but said the military policy "implements the law."

"The law requires the (Defense) Department to separate from the armed services members who engage in or attempt to engage in homosexual acts; state they are homosexual or bisexual; or marry or attempt to marry a person of the same biological sex," Whitman said in a statement.

During last year's campaign, President Barack Obama indicated he supported the eventual repeal of the policy, but he has made no specific move to do so since taking office in January. Meanwhile, the White House has said it won't stop gays and lesbians from being dismissed from the military.

    Not good. Not good.

  17. The Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization issued a statement today on the U.S. Supreme Court's denial of a writ of certiorari in the case of Pietrangelo v. Gates, a challenge to the U.S. Military's discriminatory "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law. Captain Pietrangelo was discharged in 2004 under the U.S. Military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law. The Supreme Court's decision ends the appeals process for Captain Pietrangelo. This decision comes weeks before the Board of Inquiry hearing is scheduled to review the case of First Lieutenant Daniel Choi of the New York Army National guard who is being discharged under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".

"The time to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell is now. The Supreme Court's denial of a writ of certiorari in this case, and the upcoming hearing to discharge Lt. Dan Choi, is only further proof that this law is not working and is putting our national security at unnecessary risk," said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. "Every day, patriotic lesbian, gay and bisexual service members continue to be discharged under this discriminatory policy. Every moment that the Administration and Congress delay repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," our nation is robbed of brave men and women who would risk their lives to keep our country safe."

    ReplyDelete
  18. The finding that majorities of weekly churchgoers (60%), conservatives (58%), and Republicans (58%) now favor what essentially equates to repealing the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy implemented under President Clinton in 1993 is noteworthy for several reasons. First, the data show that these traditionally conservative groups are shifting on this issue, supporting it to a far greater extent than they support legalized gay marriage. Second, it suggests the political playing field may be softer on this issue, and President Barack Obama will be well-positioned to forge ahead with his campaign promise to end the military ban on openly gay service members with some support from more conservative segments of the population. To date, it is estimated that more than 12,500 servicemen and servicewomen have been discharged under the policy, including more than 200 since Obama took office.

This is pretty surprising to me. On whole nationally 69% of the American public think the DADT policy should be ended and Gay men and women should have the right to serve openly in the military.

What are you waiting for Mr. Obama?

  21. The X17 video is all kinds of interesting. First you can hear the type of things that paps say about people, which makes you think how they do that to get reaction shots of stars when the come outside. Reese looks really foolish doing that boot scooting boogie in the window because she won't turn around, if the body guard is that big and she is that small why doesn't he stay perpendicular to her when she turns to the side in the window to block her?

I thought it was interesting that Jake and Matt seemed to pop out of either another store or another part of the shop that Reese was in, so it was more Jake and Matt shopping together than JAke and Reese.

And all the hand out pictures, can now be seen of Jake asking the paps to chill. It seems more like a brotherly move than a romantic gesture. You would have thought that the body guard would have gone ahead and Jake would have hung back closed to her rather than vice versa.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks for the link More Brothers' stills.

The girls are really cute and it reminds me of the story of Jake on the ice rink with them when filming.

Is that Sam Shepard as the bartender in that one picture?

    ReplyDelete
  23. LOL Tom, love your avatar. :-D I don't get why Obama is dragging his feet on repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell. The Supreme Court's take on it isn't surprising, the military gets a pass on a lot of things in the name of "national security". Meanwhile, the NY State Senate ended its session today in chaos, with two Democrats voting with the Republicans to oust the majority leader (a Democrat)--why am I telling you all this? It's tied up in part with these two idiots opposition to gay marriage. Sigh......

    ReplyDelete
  24. Reese wears sunglasses inside the shop. Why? because when she turns around to see if the paps are still filming you can't see her eyes looking.

Wonder if she'll make the Forbes list next year...

  25. I made it home, Special!!!
    About 9 hrs later, lol.

But it couldn't have gone any better. I wish I could fly Midwest alllll the time. What an impressive airline and what pleasant experiences I had on the way to Boston and then on the way home, with one stop. I was in a tornado warning in Milwaukee. I guess there was one sighted just to the south of the airport. And I was so impressed with the several extra efforts those MIDWEST Air employees gave to get some late connecting people a chance to make this flight to D.C. that I was watching. I couldn't believe it. They must've locked that door 5 times at least and here would come some more people, running like crazy, and they'd get them on the plane. What a super effort.

Northwest, why couldn't you have been like that? You guys need to watch Midwest to see how Customer Service is done.

Special, we got cookies twice. On the way to Milwaukee and then from Milwaukee to MCI. Woohoo!

But then, once I got home, I missed my connecting highway exit because I was so busy listening to my music in my car and I ended up way up north, like in St Joseph MO before I realized that nothing was looking familiar. lol
Oh boy, so then I turned around and then I missed it again the second time and it was just like European Vacation, Look kids, there's Big Ben!!

So thus, I am home really late.
I really am a good driver, believe it or not. I think it was the sugar overload from the cookies; that combined with the adrenalin rush from watching Midwest Airlines so hard at work. And getting an electrical outlet my whole time while waiting for 3 hrs at Milwaukee.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't know if other airport terminals do this; I know that Northwest or Southwest don't have these. But Midwest has these mini cubical places for people to sit at a desk with outlets so they can work on their laptops. Incredible!! How nice is that?
And I love Thrifty Car Rental. That is the way to go if you want to leave your car near the airport. They take you to & from the airport. Then you call when you get back and they pick you up at the airport. They bring you back to their place and your car is there waiting for you. What service!!
If only I hadn't ended up in St. Joe, it would've been the perfect day.

And here I had this 1400 return flight so Special & I thought we just had allllll day. We lazied around and putzed about. Had breakfast. I dinked around some more, posting a comment on the computer and all of sudden, it was getting too late!!
Then we had to rush, rush, rush!
    LOL.
But I made it in plenty of time.It worked out just perfect, Special.

Wicked, you probably were up early, had a leisurely breakfast, and were able to just take your time, la la la, right?
And there we were, all stressed on the Charlie, then on the bus with the slow bus driver!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Okay, one more. I think I'm wound down now.

Anyway, I was just going to say that I do acknowledge that in the pictures Jake isn't smiling. But like I said, we know the cause of that.

I'm sure that once he's out of that Reeke mode, he can relax and be more himself. I no longer think he's like this all the time. I think Reeke does it and not that he's just a cheerful Big Bird all the rest of the time, but I think that Reeke is taking just a fraction of his life at this point. I mean, it's clear that he'd rather be somewhere else.

Unfortunately, though, we don't get to see him during the rest of these times. That's what bugs me. But hey, we do see glimpses. For example, look at that one picture in these Soho shopping pics when he's talking to someone (and it's not Reese) and his face is more animated in it and not scowling. And then there was the lunch pictures when he was walking with that guy (I don't remember his name but you know - the blue shorts picture, lol) but he was clearly very glad to have spent time with that guy. Ahem, yeah, very glad if we all recall.
And the biking pictures with Austin. And those pictures in NYC when he was with Maggie, Peter, and Ramona. And when he was at the Vanity Fair, visiting with Penelope C. Those, I recall right off hand.

But what I'm saying is he isn't like this all the time. It's when he has to put on his Reeke face that we have to see the stoic demeanor.

So, we can all thank you know who. She just brings out the glow in people, doesn't she. That frown and stiff posture just seem to spread to whoever's with her, kind of like when Mr. Freeze spread his ice over everything in the old Batman show. She's just like Mr. Freeze. I can't really totally blame him for that. And I also don't think he's like this when he's on military leave from her.

Oh, and one funny. Lookit that picture up there that comes after the line, "What's the problem?"

Doesn't she look like she's thinking "Don't touch me. Don't you dare touch me. Don't you even think about getting that finger near my sweet southern butt equator again! By gosh, I've got a poker appendage of my own and I'll poke you something fierce, right where the sun don't shine, Jake".

can even almost just hear the snort and the hiss from here.

And I'm not totally trying to exxagerate here. She really looks like she's afraid he might try that again.

Okay, I need to hit the hay. I'm totally wound down now and ready to drop.

What a fantastic time, great trips to & from, and always great to touch Kansas soil again. Boring as it is, lol.

    Sweet dreams!

  28. PG - glad to hear that you finally made it home and yes Midwest is one of my favs

On the Jake from have to agree Jake can work the t-shirt. And he's shaved and the hair is looking good. I tend to think that means there are others around that he spending time than Ms.W.

More official announcements about his movie with Anne. Hoping that they don't try some tricky hair for it. And I'm calling it Jake won't have a mustache or beard for it. Clean cut and shaved thy name is Pharma Salesmen.

  29. Bright Lights, Reese ShittyJune 9, 2009 at 2:10 AM

She just brings out the glow in people, doesn't she.

Definitely, that bright glow, from the flashing lights of the bullshit detector, like when Reese says she would never do nude scenes.

  30. Tom, can you include either links or URLs to the stories you posted?

Just have to say that the weekly churchgoers I know, including me and the Mrs, are far from traditionally conservative.

Wicked, you probably were up early, had a leisurely breakfast, and were able to just take your time, la la la, right?*

Up at 7, out by 8, at airport at 9:15. By the time I finished eating a muffin and having a cup of coffee, we were boarding. We got into BWI early too! Boston is so easy to get around.

  31. Doubt was really excellent. I had no idea it was a play first. Meryl Streep did an awesome job as usual. We should definitely have this one on the movie club list in the future.

Thanks for posting those articles Tom. I think its time for Omaba to step up to the plate. Forget trying to appease everybody because he never will anyway.

Reeke really needs to stop this charade already. They both look miserable.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm sure some of the misery is truly because of intrusive paps. But not all of it and they did begin (and probably continue) this themselves. There were no pictures of them before Rome and now all of a sudden they are unable to move anywhere in the world without the paps following them. Give me a break! I'm so sick of Reeke.

Funny post though. And Jake's new movie project with Anne sounds interesting. I'm not so sure he has good chemistry with Anne on screen. They fit well in BBM because they were supposed to have a bit of a distant relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  33. "I'm sure some of the misery is truly because of intrusive paps."

Nah. Reese smiled for paparazzi, she wanted few good pictures for tabloids and gossip sites.

Reeke is doing publicity work and using paparazzi all the time, nothing "probably" about it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I reckon no one wants shutterbugs going off in their face at 2 in the morning after a red-eye flight or when you're with your family trying to have a good time; in that sense, I agree with you, hopeful.

I just cannot feel at all sorry for Reese nor for Jake either for the reason that they both have used these paps endlessly during this whole Reeke campaign. They don't mind the paps showing up at popular HW venues or calling the paps out for an upcoming US Reekly photo op (i.e. the softball pics, the Spain art walk) in order to mug it up for the Reeke cause, so I say if you're going to use the paps for your own benefit, then you've got to take the bad with the good. And you're going to have to put up with it when you don't quite feel up to it.

Notice that Reese just can't quite always turn it up a notch (i.e. High Notch example being the concrete slab cuddle pics in Italy, Rome, Jake's birthday dinner, softball homeplate) when she should, tho. She knows which ones are going to be on the rag covers/inside story. She's a true actress in that regard. But I'm sure that cranking it up to that level is a strain, lol, and she just can't be in high gear allll the time. So we get pics like these, too.

  35. Glad you made it home okay PG.

I'm not a big fan of Zwick's movies, I find his directing and the tone of his movies a little to tv-like, for lack of a better description. But his movies always get big name actors and a fair amount of attention, including award buzz, so I can see why Jake would want to do a movie with him.

I'm still truly amazed at all this.

And still in a post-Tony, new movies lined up glow from NPH. The ratings for the Tonys were up 20% from last year, and you've got to give some credit for that to NHP who was out there on Letterman, in the Wall Street Journal, etc. promoting the show.

I'm glad he's doing so well. I had no idea he sang, too. The guy is mucho talented.

I forgot earlier that I wanted to say I loved those stills from Brothers. I think Jake looked fantastic. I was afraid he was going to be Grizzly Adams through the whole thing, but thankfully, it doesn't look that way. And love the prison look.

Reminds me of the glory days of Prison Break. Ahhhh, ol' Tea Bag. Hmmm.
m could appreciate this. Gives one all kinds of ideas or possibilities for new slash. I'm not kidding.

Man, I'm terrible today. I don't know what's up. Anyway, I did really like the looks of it. It looks great. I hope Reeke will be over. Because I would like to see that one. I can't decide now if I'll just strike PoP or do I do all.....I dunno. we'll see.
