You can lead a horse to water,,,,

Newest pictures of Prince of Persia.

And if the movie is lit like this. Talk about gorgeous lighting. And Jake wet. Oh my.

Know that many think that not going to Comic Con was a mistake. It could be. Still think that D23 will be the ultimate showcase for PoP and Alice, because they will not have to compete with anything else and the D23 will get incredible media coverage because it is the first Expo by Disney.

PoP is not pure to the first game itself and is a blend of several of the games in the PoP series. Maybe they didn't want to take PoP to Comic Con, because gamer fans would have pulled it apart on the little details, and not look at the whole of it.

Bruck's G-4 took the box office this weekend beating Harry Potter. And that's not easy. But I say this quote and thought it was a very interesting comment about Bruck.

"This summer is all about packaging and escapism," Paul Dergarabedian, box office analyst for Hollywood.com, said of the strong showing for "G-Force." "People were scratching their heads and dragging their kids to go see this thing. They were watching the trailers with absolute shock going, 'Is that really happening?' But as a kid you're like, 'I gotta go see it.' This is a testament to the fact that Jerry Bruckheimer, like ('Transformers' director) Michael Bay, knows exactly what summer movie audiences want."

Disney will spend 40-60 million on PoP marketing - I think Comic Con doesn't matter.

  2. 1. G-Force 3-D (Disney) $11.7 million Saturday & $32M this weekend.

Jerry Bruckheimer attempted his first 3-D foray featuring secret agent guinea pigs. Which just goes to show that sometimes moviegoers will watch anything. But this CGI family fare was incredibly expensive so the pic's profitability is a real question mark.

  5. Love these pics - all the detail, and the lighting is gorgeous.

I've been seeing the reviews for G-Force the past few times I've been at the movies, and while it isn't my cup of tea, it's very cute, and I can see where kids would love it. What really looks good is A Christmas Carol - the animation is incredible in it. I saw Harry Potter this weekend, and it was really good. :)

  7. Holy cow - these pictures are not safe for work, Special!! LOL!

    Holy cow. That merited repeating.

Okay, smiley, I hear ya. I'm still not sure it wasn't smart to ignore that great market, though, but like I said, uh - I'm here working 7-1530 every day and I don't know diddley about HW and how it works all the time.

Man, these pictures are something else. I'm still checking out Jake's chest. Talk about inspiration for my writing tonight. How about you, Sienna?

I gotta get off of here before I look at those again and lose my train of thought.

  9. So Jake gets soaking wet in an unbuttoned white shirt? Why isn't it May yet? I need to see this movie now.

Empire Magazine has revealed a couple new photos of Jake Gyllenhaal from his upcoming movie Prince of Persia in which he is soaking wet. And on horseback. While still soaking wet. Sure, he's dressed up like a combination of a pirate, a gypsy, and Adam Lambert, and he looks a little questionable with hair that long but...that still doesn't take away from the fact that it's Jake Gyllenhaal and he's wet and exposing his chest. Sadly, we have to wait until May 28, 2010 to see the movie. Until then, we have these pictures to tide us over.

Guess it is a new blogger skill I need to learn. I really hope I don't have use my new knowledge.

  11. These new POP pictures look pretty good. I now recall reading an article about Disney profits being down and that Bruckheimer would have to pick up some of the POP advertising costs out of his own pocket. Maybe that had something to do with comic con ie. push what is out or just about out in theaters now. Now that it is over, stories will come out about it. There was so much to see and do during the show, it is only afterwards that bloggers will say wait a minute, where was POP?

    Discussing Twitter? LOL

    Those "people" were trolling.

  13. No, they were not trolling. You are most likely the one who was doing the insults, weren't you. Your mind is closed off already, isn't it, at one mention of the T word. I would suggest you read the posts again but its obvious you are part of the problem.

Funny tho how when Special K posts a twitter or any information gleaned from a twitter, you all are ok with that.

  16. What is the definition of a "twitter troll" ??

    ReplyDelete
  17. Okay, that was way too many typos, so let's try it again.

There are many ways to market a film, but not taking advantage of Comic Con when you have a film that fits in is odd, especially since that was given as a reason for delaying POP.

I know nothing about the Disney expo, but I would be very surprised if it gets the crowds of Comic Con, which I believe is well over a 1OO,OOO who come from all over the country, spend the whole week there, then fan back out talking about the things they saw. ANd no, not all of those are going to fit into the auditorium where the film panels are, but getting into a hot panel it part of the game, and it is hard to beat that marketing source or to find ways to connect that directly with fans. Since Comic Con made "300" a huge hit, filmmakers have fallen all over themselves to get their work previewed there.

The Disney thing will probably get a lot of media attention, but will the fans come? I can't see it, and I think having a coroporate imprint over something like that might work against it.

I was at Comic Con when they showed clips of Iron Man, and the place practically turned into a rally for that film after people saw them. Everyone there was talking about it, spreading the word, and imo helped overcome fanboy disappointment with the choice of RDJ. Comic Con should have been a chance to do that with POP. I can't help but think they were afraid of the fanboy reaction.

  21. Disney's "A Christmas Carol," from Robert Zemeckis and Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" couldn't have played better, especially as they kicked off Comic-Con's first 3-D screenings. Sequel "New Moon" brought back the screaming teens, tweens and "Twilight" moms, who were once again willing to camp out for days for any glimpse of the movie or its stars. And after years of hype, James Cameron satisfied the curious with more than 20 minutes from "Avatar."

Odd no-shows were Disney's "Prince of Persia" and "The Sorcerer's Stone," both from Jerry Bruckheimer. Universal Pictures also stayed home entirely.

  22. You know, no one has even brought up Twitter today. I am not even sure why somebody has decided to put it on a big wooden cross and decided to carry it on here daily now.

We have moved on. Some of us are trying to put away the hate, sniping, rudeness, etc. and have a good, decent time on here.

Let. It. Go. Please stop crying about this total alleged disrespect to Twitter. I'm beginning to honestly think it is the person who owns the copyright, the royalties, owns personal stock, or patent on Twitter, myself, who just keeps crying about this subject.

My lunch hour is shot. I don't ask for any comments to get deleted; but that one just really got to me. It was a personal slander.

Thanks to Special & Wicked for having OMG. You guys shouldl not have to babysit us. We're all adults here, for gosh sakes.

  23. The photos from PoP are cool looking, but they don't quite look real to me, in part because of the colors. I wonder if they were touched up?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think that Mike Newell has worked a long time about the lightening of PoP. And I think it's similar to the look of the video game but has the softness of the classic epics in Cinescope. Personally I love how he uses the light and has a other worldly feel to it. It more noticeable because there is a flood of light for PoP than something darker like he did for Harry Potter.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wet picture is cool.

Horse picture - Jake and Gemma don't look too good, but the horse is magnificent!

I love this too, Spesh. :)

My 2 cents on Twitter? I'm sure that many are real, and some not, but there's no denying its usefulness.

    Great song today.

  28. PG, I see someone updated you on Torchwood; I'm glad because I wouldn't have been able to! (Much as I like John Barrowman). The girl in Love Actually is Martine McCutcheon. I was not a fan of that movie, though ... understatement.

I wasn't around last night, but thanks Wicked for deleting any extreme troll. Disagreeing isn't trolling, IMO, being abusive is.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I have a thought about why they didn't do more about PoP at Comic Con.

The newest version of PoP the game for the new game systems didn't do as well as the expected. So while the movie is based on a game, they wanted to distance themselves from the new release since it was an under performer.

    Just a thought.

  30. No Special, cannot be. It MUST be because the movie and Jake totally suck. How could you say he looks hot in the pics, go and swoon on IHJ you silly babbler! What a troll.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks, London! Yes, I was updated superbly by some kind soul. I kept waiting for Ianto to be brought back to life but they just left him in that body bag. It was horrible! How could they do that? I tell you what, that John Barrowman is incredible looking and the guy who plays Ianto is pretty adorable in his own way. I think I need to download some new pictures for my desktop.

I have 3 loaded from somewhere recently where John B is laying a heckuva kiss on Ianto. It looks like it's at some press conference. Talk about sucking face, LOL! Dang, John is practically inhaling the guy. They are a darn hot couple of pictures. You didn't like Love, Actually? I did. I didn't care for all of the storylines - there probably were too many. But Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, and that little boy from Nanny McPhee were all really good.

Music Luvah, what is this Christmas Carol you're talking about? Is it aa re-make? Is Disney doing it?

I like the second picture from PoP better than the first, lol. Gee, guess why? Although it looks more like a painting than the actual actors. The first one I like, too, except of course, for the hair. But I like it other than that.

  34. And I must make a correction to my Saturday post. The person who I thought was Austin in the pictures is not Austin. But another actor.

  35. Yes, PG, it's the Dickens story, from Disney, and it looks really well done and interesting. The animation looks almost real.

    I've been enjoying Torchwood too - :)

  36. From comments on JJ and OTH forums, it appears that Sophia and Austin were on their way to Wilmington.

Does that mean that Austin could carpooled to LAX with Jake if they would have traveled on the same day? You know they are both trying to do their best to be green.

  37. I'm back from vacation and catching up on a large pile of newspapers. I came across this article in the NYT, which had this to say about Comic Con:

Friday's line-up proved once and for all that virtually no one who makes or stars in Hollywood blockbusters can afford to sidestep this four-day conclave, which is all about direct communication with the fans. It is also very much about marketing, an event that has acquired major importance on the industry’s calendar.

  38. Could be, the assistant took Austin to LAX while the Brazilian film director took Jake, on Saturday. Might be the reason why the director drove Jake to LAX as a favor, because the boys didn't want to be seen arriving together at the airport, and the director was driving a rental which was unfamiliar to the paps. The only problem is Austin was in Atlanta on Sunday, and Jake left on Saturday. But for both we don't know the times, or how long the layover was, so its still possible.

  42. Spesh.. that's an interesting idea about wanting to distance the movie from the game, if it's not doing so great.

I am still kinda struggling with seeing jake in this roll. He's buff and gorgeous (once you get over the slimy hair) but he's not a he-man dude. Remember Conan the B with arnold. And Rambo with Sly. And The Good The Bad and the Ugly with Clint. I don't care how much you pump him up, i just have a hard time seeing Jake pulling this off, and if he doesn't, he's gonna look REALLY stupid.

I hope i'm wrong, because regardless of how tired of his personal life i am, i would hate for him to get his ass kicked like that in public. s.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Strange that JJ would take use those photos. I have rarely, if ever, seen fan photos on gossip sites, and have long assumed that it just isn't done out of concern for authenticity, quality, getting permission to use them on a site that makes money from advertising, etc.

And how did he find them? I know he features Sophia a lot, but is there more to it than that?

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't think Jake and Austin left the same day, too many flights through Atlanta for someone to take more than a day to travel.

One thing is for sure, PR made sure Reeke was seen out on a Sunday since we made a big deal about no sightings of them in D.C. on a Sunday.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Jake looks like Adam Lambert in the 2nd pic. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Mentioning Frank Miller, you know it does have a similar visual texture(?) to 300. There is the other worldly feel to the lighting and look. Especially if you click on the Empire link and see the picture of Bruck in street clothes amongst the handmaidens.

I am curious to see what Alfred Molina looks like.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Funny how there is a mention of Jake in Philly and more 24 hours later - still no pictures - you think PR would want to maximize their time and get the biggest bang for their buck. But then just one pap in Philly that's kinda tough.

But then it does make you wonder too

Austin looked smiley and tan, and Jake look tan and smiley, and two planes came from LA... and there was that third unnamed person at the Dodgers game. hmmmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  48. The shot with the handmaidens is very classic. Beautiful use of diffused lighting, creating, as you say, an other-worldly feel. Makes you hungry for more :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. arnold. And Rambo with Sly. And The Good The Bad and the Ugly with Clint. i just have a hard time seeing Jake pulling this off, and if he doesn't, he's gonna look REALLY stupid.

Looks-wise I think Jake will be ok. What I'm dreading (LOL) is his voice. Arnold, Sly, Clint.... all normally deep bass-baritone voices. Jake, mmm, no. So I'm wondering if Jake went a few registers down (which I can't imagine him doing) for the role or if he's going to use his normal voice level. Also, its very possible that part of the POP delay is because sound engineers have to remaster his voice and make it lower. Could be why there were no POP vid and audio clips at Comic Con.

    ReplyDelete
  50. But then just one pap in Philly that's kinda tough.

Yeah but that one pap may be the same hard working, dedicated pap who braved the security of the Prado and the Tate museums and the heat of standing around the desert in Morrocco just hoping to get some pics of Reeke and by some stroke of luck, the pap was rewarded by getting the pics of them. That pap must be really good at trying to figure out where Reeke would go and really patient at waiting for so many hours or days in harsh conditions to get those few pics of the wonderful Reese and her boyfriend. I mean how else would a pap be in such out the the way locations trying to get pics of some famous actors?

  51. Don't forget, I skulked around at an obscure Italian airport and I rode a bike thru the countryside in Italy following them!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Jake will be doing an accent, but not sure what he will be doing, he did work with a very well known dialect coach for the movie.

When you look at the story of PoP, you have to remember that Dastan was a street urchin that was taken in and adopted by the king. So there is a lot to play with for his voice. He could have something more refined now that he was brought up in the royal household with some rough edges too.

This is from the first PoP Game

    Ending PoP-The Two Thrones

To hear the voice and a little sense of the look

If you get a chance go on youtube and look up some of the game scenes that people have created from the PoP games. And then look at the photos that have been released.

That one lone pap. I, for one, am anxious to see the handiwork of One Lone Philly Pap. Just how many cameras can one pap juggle on his person?
On second thought, that's not a dare, no. lol.

Destiny, good point. I haven't looked at JJ. They must have just put that up, though, because I was there earlier tonight and I don't remember seeing it. That picture is clearly one taken with a Kodak One Shot or something similar, lol. And taken with a fan. I don't remember seeing any kind of pictures like this on JJ.

Just always something weird and strange going on with the boys, isn't there.

Well, time for this ol' buzzard to hit the hay. All is quiet in the house tonight. I don't know where the Major is. Chloe gets so paranoid about me leaving. She followed me like flypaper all over the place this morning, poor little thing. I wish I could stay home with her all day. I don't know what to tell her to let her know I am not going to leave her.

Sweet dreams and have a great, peaceful evening.

  55. Prairegirl, thank you for the compliment. And Hard Working Pap, don't forget that you also stood out in the sun for hours trying to get the perfect pics of Reeke poolside at a private resort and on the resort private beach in Mexico. You are a very resourceful and hard working pap to get pics of them at all of these places.

  56. Jake will be doing an accent

Yes I realize that and of the different dialects etc. My point is not the accent but the actual voice level. IMO he will absolutely need to have a deeper more masculine voice to carry off the studly Prince role or else he will be laughed at as being the Princess of Persia. Even in Jarhead as a Marine he was not deep-voiced. For the POP role as a stud hero with big muscles, a relatively deep bass resonant tone is part of the requirements IMO.

  58. I wonder if the dialect coach worked with him to deepen his voice as well as well.

But sometimes that is extremely distracting. Case in point, Christian Bale's as Batman. It drove me nuts. I don't mind his normal speaking voice but as Batman, it sounded ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The JJ picture is odd. Obviously an effort to link Austin with a woman, any woman, but everyone knows he and Sophia are just friends. Pretty sure they even went to school together. Atlanta is a hub. Could be they just ran into each other for the hop from Atlanta to Wilmington. If somebody already suggested that, sorry for the repeat. I kind of hurried through the comments.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yes, i meant to include that in my comment about my difficulty with J in this swashbuckler (?) role. His voice is so soft and... shit, i hate to say Sweet, but it is kinda sweet. I didn't see Rendition, so i don't know how he sounded there; that's really his first HARD/grown up role. i don't remember anything about him in jarhead except how awesome he looked.

anyway, i too am wondering how he'll deal with that, and if he'll just use the accent to cover all his bases, or if they might try to rough it up some.

Looking over at OTHforum, the girl who took the pictures and her friend she gave permission to post them on OTHforum said they never gave Jared permission to use the pics. They asked Jared to take them down, so that post may go bye tomorrow.

  63. Blimey, what a shock to see little Austy on Just Jared! Luck Sophia, he certainly looks like the sort of travelling companion any girl would want.

Very strange thing for JJ though, someone must be cruising OTH fan sites or Spooky for pics, maybe JJ is an OTH fan.

It is nice to see that Austin gets alot of positive comments and a few people id him as goosy. Can't even question people thinking that Austin and Sophia would make a nice couple, if you had to beard I don't think you could find a nicer fake girlfriend than her (not that I imagine either would do that anyway).
