Giving Back
With less that 5 days until One Tree Hill's premiere, the mystery interview on E! still hasn't been seen. Will we see it between now and Monday? Maybe?
Check out Spooky's Austin Nichols Journal to catch a second and I do mean second of Austin in an upcoming scene. Blink and you'll miss him. But Spooky's got you cover.
Today is a day of reflection, community and service for many in the U.S. It is one day that we stop are reminded of so much and how much more there.
One Tree Hill has for the past seven years made themselves a part of the Wilmington community and the cast and crew have given back in many ways.
This is continues their spirit of giving. The Wilmington Police Department is planning a memorial to be dedicated to New Hanover County Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty. The Memorial will be built in front of department headquarters, and will be a special place for citizens, friends and family members to visit, reflect and honor our brave fallen officers. Austin is participating their autograph signing fundraiser tomorrow.
The Officer Down Memorial Wall Celebrity Autograph Fundraiser is to help raise funds to finance the construction of the wall. If you can get to Wilmington by tomorrow you too could get to meet and get an autograph from not only Austin, but also John Bunting(former NFL linebacker – Philadelphia Eagles & former head coach at UNC-CH),James BONECRUSHER Smith(former WBA World Heavyweight Champion boxer), Karl Noonan(former NFL wide receiver – Miami Dolphins),Barry Foote(former MLB catcher – Yankees, Cubs, Phillies, Expos), Donnell Woolford (former NFL cornerback – Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers & member Clemson Hall of Fame, Billy Harris (former MLB second baseman – Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals), as well as Austin' castmates, Sophia, Lee Norris, and Kate Voegele. It is great to see a show and cast give back to were they call home for the majority of their year.
Even as time passes we will never forget the events that happened today and those lost. As we remember the past we look ahead at the promises of the future.
Man, I am so glad I saved my comment. I just knew we were on shaky grounds, I just knew it, lol!
ReplyDeleteI don't like to pay any attention to that Contraband woman. She's attention seeking and she's totally exploitive. Who can know or believe half of what she says. She's got a history with the Gyllenhaal family and she has personal forums to produce for. For those two reasons alone, I can't take anything she says seriously.
You know, it's one thing for Joe Blow and Jane Q Public bloggers to get on here and just spin off all kinds of thoughts and opinions, but when family members & personal friends of celebs/athletes get online or in print media and start spilling beans and dropping names, that's a whole other deal. Kind of like John Mayer and his spouting off online as soon as Jennifer Anniston drops his butt. Who respects John Mayer as a person? Not too many.
And what I mean is for a family member or personal friend to do it on a blog, twitter, or any kind of forum like that.
ReplyDeleteIt is one thing to do it in a formal interview that is pre-approved. But this woman is acting like a reporter for the National Enquirer or a tabloidish local news station with her "Tune in at 10pm for the full story".
It's just ridiculous.
Man, I've got to get off of that ride, now.
m, that's cool about your wild turkeys. I need to go check out that link on the JakeTurkey in the previous post now.
Writing is just going awesome. I'm going to have 2 more chaps to put up today, woohoo!
Thanks OMG. I watched some of the memorial services today, and it still gets me, can't believe it's been eight years either, PG. It's nice to hear the reading of each individual name, each individual who was a person. :'(
ReplyDeletewhat difference does it make who outs Jake and why? Cantara's fine by me. IMO the more disgruntled and attention-seeking people who speak the truth, the better. If selfish motivations are what it takes to get the truth, then so be it.
ReplyDeleteDon't be surprised if she doesn't give the answer you expect. I think she tried this on JakeWatch awhile back, if I'm not mistaken, saying that he wasn't gay.
ReplyDeletePG, I was in NY on 9/11. I work in midtown NY, so I wasn't near the towers when it happened, but we could sort of see them on fire from one of the windows in on person's office. But we mostly gathered around the one tv on our floor, and then we were sent home a few hours after it all happened.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes think about it if I'm in that neighborhood, and I miss seeing the towers, but it is not something I dwell on. It is not in my nature to dwell on things like that, for better or worse, and I have to say I'm not a big fan of yearly memorials, treating the poor workers in those buildings like heroes just because they happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, etc. I know this is probably going to get me in trouble, but I think it kind of makes a commodity out of things, makes the work of real heroes less valuable somehow. Which is not to say I don't feel terrible for those people who were victims, I just think in America we have a tendency to go too far with these things.
I do, however, feel very strongly, and still get emotional, about all those cops and firemen who went into those buildings, and I do think they deserve to be remembered and honored. I feel that way about any cop or fireman who dies in the line of duty, so it is really great to see Austin and some of the others turning out in Wilmington for that cause.
I wouldn't say a yearly remembrance, taking one day out of the rest of our self-absorbed 364, is dwelling on it. A lot of those people who were not professional heroes like police and fire, did their share in trying to help, both at the Towers and at the Pentagon and in the planes. The little guy can be a hero as well. And yes, I do think being in the wrong place at the wrong time does make someone a hero, and worth remembering, it doesn't cheapen it. I think just the opposite; that we in this country don't make too much of these type of things, but that we make too little. We want to move along and "be happy and not bring others down" as quickly as possible. It's not like it was the normal cycle of life and death, which you accept and move on with, so I don't think anyone could make too much of it, it was a terrible act of agression and war. Most of our war remembrances are done yearly, because how people suffered, and how they continue to haunt the generations who were directly affected, cannot and should not be forgotten, so that these things don't happen again. Already, you've got younger people who have no idea about the events of WWII.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I see your point, 13:18 From WFT2, don't get me wrong. This is just my opinion on her.
ReplyDeleteAnd I want the truth, myself. On anything.
Wouldn't it be so much better, though, to hear it from Jake himself instead of from someone else? That poor guy (Now hold on, let me finish, lol!!). Look at this. He's got his own father and former family friend Contraband using his name for personal forums. That's like, it's like feeding off of someone. It's just so low. His own dad.
In that regard, I feel so bad for Jake, I really do. I don't know, maybe he has no problem with this? Maybe it's just me. It would make me so distrustful of people.
Taking a break from posting, lol. It exhausts me.
ReplyDeleteDestiny, wow, that is something. I can understand not wanting to dwell on things. Probably a very healthy way to handle things.
So not me, that's why I'm on Paxil on a daily basis, lol.
I'm so glad you weren't down there, Dest.
Maybe we shouldn't dwell on Jake's sexuality then, either. Not healthy. There are other causes.

ReplyDeleteEverybody is different when it comes to things like this, and I can certainly respect that a lot of people feel differently.
ReplyDeleteI am a cynical person, I'll admit that, and I think a lot of people do these things for the wrong reasons. Like Bush or McCain mentioning 9/11 every chance they got. I really don't think they cared, they were just using the victims of 9/11 for polical reasons. And living in NY I see plenty of others doing the same thing.
I also can't help wondering how many people are afraid to express their genuine thoughts on sensitive issues such as this for fear of how they'll be perceived.
Finally, one of my problems with things like this is that, indeed, people think they can just go on being their usual, self-absorbed selves for the other 364 days of the year after patting themselves on the back for one day. But at the end of the day I don't think most people are that self-absorbed, and will do the right thing when it is called for.
And it's funny how there is those whole 9/12 movement to get people involved, because it is coming from conservatives like Glenn Beck, people who think it is the wrong thing to do to make sure everyone in this country has access to health care, a decent day's wages, etc....
^^Possibly, but there's no way to know any of that for sure. Health care, decent wages, bipartisanship, etc. are different topics for another day, and have nothing to do with a day of remembrance for thousands of innocent people. There's no value judgements made, no self-congratulatory back-patting, for taking a few minutes out of a day to think of those who weren't so lucky as us. Why would there be? Different topics. We don't need to take medications to anesthesize us from our real and natural feelings either, I don't think, unless we really need to. I'm a cynic as well, and I see a lot of things in daily life that bother me about behaviour, but the good that I see in people makes up for it and gives hope.
ReplyDeleteI seriously doubt Cantara will out Jake. She is just going to say he is straight, like she has said before. If she admits she has known he was gay all along, it would just make her look like a liar. She has no crediblity as it is, that will just make it worse.
ReplyDeleteAccording to a poster on wft2, this is what happened with Cantara:
ReplyDeleteThe host asks and she makes a joke about it. She says that Jake isgay and that it happened all of a sudden when he was working on Pop. Aliens kidnapped him and took him to venus where he met Tom Cruise. The host says yes or no nad she says yes in another universe, Venus.
Really stupid stuff. And she gets on Stephen's case for what he says???
She's not going to out Jake, are you kidding? There could be unpleasant repercussions for doing so. She's just being a big ol' tease, just like the weather people are five minutes into the news. They drive me nuts and I don't watch them. It's the Weather Channel for me - I don't need that stupid teasing.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but how do you really feel about it, pg? LOL. As you can tell, a sensitive topic for me.
I'm exhausted.
Did the bit switch-ola during my time off. The switch of bedspreads/coverlets/bedskirts/shower curtains/shams/bath towels etc etc from summer to fall. Plus putting away all the summer decorations and getting out a few of my fall things. I just LOVE fall colors and decorating with them.
I think it's great that Austin is participating in that autograph fundraiser tomorrow. That one name cracks me up. That WWE wrestler? Bonecrusher? LOLLLl! Man! Bonecrusher. lolll
bit switchola = big switch-ola
ReplyDeletedangit!!
I have to do the "big Switch-ola" too, PG,this weekend. Cute. :) I love the fall, but it's a leetle bit sad to see summer go. I'll go to the beach too. ;)
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen Ang's Taking Woodstock yet? I saw Inglourious Basterds over the weekend, and it's the best thing I've seen all year - darkly, hilariously, funny - and great commentary on human nature. BP is fantastic in it, but Christoph Waltz deserves an Oscar. :)
Two Cents, I wouldn't normally be doing it quite yet, but our temps have been in the 70's and lows in the 50's. There are young trees already turned colors, that's how crazy it is.
ReplyDeleteLucky you still getting to go to the beach!

I haven't been lurking in sometime, but the recent information on Austin & Sophia Bush has me wanting to comment.
The truth is long ago I was a Jake supporter, thiinking that his life was his and believing he was all of that.
But now I'm not sure I care much, because at the heart of the matter I think Jake is pretty boring person. The more I see of him, the more I read about him, the more interviews he does. He is an over-rated actor who came from within the system and is protected by the system. I'm not talking about his sexual preference. His fathers breakdown and parents divorce has been kept way on the down low vs other celebrities, and so has his relationship with Reese and his lack of giving an honest and credible interiew by the press.
He refuses to answer even the simple questions about his life with Reese while he is photographed all over the world with her. What's the big deal.
I sense that Jake is fake and he changes his friends and his interests based on those around him.
Austin Nichols is somebody I wasn't to interested in and now am.
He is smart, accessible and genuine. I like that he youtubes blogs about his book of the month or upcoming projects. I like that he doesn't seem to want to hide and is accessible to the press.
I like that he and Sophia Bush have known eachother for the longest time, during their college years at USC. I like that he graduated, I like that he isn't a coat tail hanger.
If you ask me in all of this it's Austin's career that has been hurt most by the Jake rumors. I really doesn't seem to me like the two are even friends anymore.
He refuses to answer even the simple questions about his life with Reese while he is photographed all over the world with her.
ReplyDeleteJake was asked about Reese ONLY BEFORE fauxmance officially started in Rome, Oct 2007.
Why would you give away something for free when you want to sell a book? Would you want people to pay to find out?
ReplyDeleteCool dark day here. Boston always has a different feel on 9-11 because the planes came from here. It's hard to describe. It's like .. if only ..we.. feeling.
Have more to write but off now to Fenway to see my Sox.
Surprise guests Jerry Bruckheimer and Nicolas Cage showed off two of next year's big summer films, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
ReplyDelete"Prince of Persia" debuted the first trailer (which, though Bruckheimer claimed wasn't complete, seemed ready to go effects-wise). The trailer featured quite a bit of Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan and explained the basic plot: there is a magical dagger that offers the bearer the power to travel through time. Ben Kingsley (as the evil Nizam) wants to steal it and use it it to destroy the world, so Dastan and Tamina (Gemma Arterton) have to take it to "the secret guardian temple" where it can be safe. There's quite a bit of fast cutting and flirting between Dastan and Tamina. At one point, they appear to be in disguise as servants and she asks if he's carrying the dagger. He tells her that she'll have to do a pretty thorough search to find it.

ReplyDeleteAnon, you're going to get deleted if you do not put a name on it^^^^
ReplyDeleteThe host asks and she makes a joke about it. She says that Jake is gay and that it happened all of a sudden when he was working on Pop. Aliens kidnapped him and took him to venus where he met Tom Cruise. The host says yes or no and she says yes in another universe, Venus.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, you really need to hear the radio interview for yourselves. The above is a summary, yes, but it doesn't include any description of HOW it was said. IMO once you hear it your view that it was just some lofty quip might change.
The guy asks if Jake is gay and she answers strongly and emphatically in the full sentence "YES Jake is gay." And there is a long pause. A LONG pause. If the pause was written it would be the space before a new paragraph.
Then she says it happened during POP and goes into the alien whatever part and Venus.. it sounds stranger and lamer as she goes on. IMO her attempt to smooth it over and turn her answer into a farcical joke might have sounded good in her head at the time but it failed.
Maybe in her book she'll officially state that Jake's hetero or she won't say anything at all. IMO her radio thing was a way of unofficially saying yes, he's gay and the very lame silly story following it was a cover-your-ass move.
3 years ago when she said something that Jake was straight, that was a long time ago, when she was enthralled with Stephen, professionally and personally, and ready to do or say anything for the Gyllenhaal honor. Now, not so much. She's moved across the country with her husband, she has little ties with SG besides an old book contract that's ticking down. Her distaste for him is obvious. She really has nothing left to lose with him.
IMO Cantara, no matter how many of you don't like her (I don't care one way or another) was saying Jake is gay in her own way. The Gyllenhaals must be seething, at least Naomi. Jake I'm not so sure of, since Ted has said more than once that Toothy is kind of hoping that someone else will do his outing for him. As for Maggie and Stephen, I don't know. They might be mad and relieved at the same time.
In mythology and popular culture the planet Venus is female. Jake would be into men and gay only if he was on a planet full of females? What's the difference between that and an Earth with females?!
ReplyDeleteOr maybe: if Jake was on Venus, he'd be a woman, and into loving other women. But Jake is on Earth as a man, and into loving other men.
Dear Ted:
ReplyDeleteHope you had a restful vacation. We enjoyed Team Awful and tried to coerce a few Blind Vices out of them, but they wouldn't give. Is Baby Tile a he or a she? And is the father a handsome hunk and mother a beautiful Latina?
—Cutlet
Dear Careful:
Uh, why not just tell you who the damn dude is already?
Bitch Back
Dude = Matt McConahey?
ReplyDeleteor
Dude = BT is a boy?
MM isn't Toothy, but could he be BT's "public" father?? I can see Camilla Alves being a high paid surrogate/mother.
I think he just told us BT is a boy.
ReplyDeleteJust 2 minutes of the radio interview, Cantara talks about Jake:
ReplyDeleteCantara: Jake is gay - MP3 file
His PR team have a set of guidelines about questions that can and cannot be asked.
ReplyDeleteOn the no list... Reese Witherspoon. I'm sure that H.Ledger and his father are on that list as well.
Ugh, let me get this straight. A trailer of POP was shown by Bruckheimer and Cage and all the internet is talking about tonight is Johnny Depp and Pirates 4 which will come out in 2011. Way to go Jake. At least that is the only impact I see.
ReplyDeleteSox Rained out - saw 15 pitches, one out in the 1st inning and then rain. The delay was 2 plus hours before they called it. But we were covered and dry, and I get to go back to Fenway for the make up game. So it's still good.
ReplyDeleteYeah it sounds like Ted did answer the burning question of BT - boy or girl. Now will he say if BT2 is boy or girl?
Have to catch up on D23 deets. And the PR no question list is a given that the tiny dancer is on the top of the list. Maggie doesn't speak of her dad either, and she does not say much about Heath, only when asked and even then it seems to come with emotion, I can only imagine that is 10x harder for Jake. So I can see that on the no list, unless he brings it up.
Oh an 80's band moment tonight - going into Fenway, my best friend hit me and said, that's Jonathan Cain of Journey. And during the warm up, somehow they slipped a Journey song into the music. Guess she was right.
Wow, you mean you saw Jonathan Cain, Special? Cool! Man, I loved Journey. Their Live album was one of my favorites. When I was living at home, I played that thing endlessly. Even my whole family knew every song on it, lol.
ReplyDeletePoor people.
So Nicolas Cage must have a Disney movie coming up? National Treasure 3, maybe? I wonder why Jake wasn't at this thing, then? Because he is in Pittsburgh? Wouldn't you think he could've delayed travel to Pittsburgh for a few days to attend this thing? It sounds like it was kind of important and a big chance to promote this PoP?
I mean, look at the internet buzz on SATC2 this past week. Gee whiz. And that doesn't sound too whippy to be playing pieces from the movie and it's not "quite finished" in one regard or another. I'm sure alot of movies go right down to the wire but they finished filming this PoP way back in December for crying out loud. What have those people been doing all this time, lol? I certainly hope they're not getting overtime pay, that would be a heckuva bill.
Hey, too bad about your game, Special. I hate rain delays. They're so boring. But at least you get to go back.
How do we know there is going to be a no-ask question list? Is that just a given? How could he not answer questions about Reese? That would be so ridiculous it wouldn't even be funny. A 3 year relationship complete with family vacays, holidays together supposedly, wedding together overseas in Italy, etc etc and he can't be asked about it?
That is the absolute most ridiculous thing I think I will have heard if that turns out to be true. Man, you can just put duct tape over my mouth because I will just have to let the griping fly over that one should it come to pass.
MM was excluded as TT about a year ago. What's interesting though is that his baby named Levi was born July 7, 2008 and he hardly ever smiles at it or holds it, the mother always does in about 90% of all pics. He also hardly ever smiles or looks at her, if/when they are together. Remember about 2 weeks ago on OMG/OTH there was a post and pic about seeing Austin and MM on the beach together? I was surprised about that, that they hang out together. HW is weird and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if BT was hiding in plain sight in the form of MM and Camila's kid, if Camila was the donor/surrogate and now the full-time mom. Far fetched but it's HW.
ReplyDeleteHave seen Stephen King several times at Sox games since he is a season ticket holder. What is funny is that he bring a book to read with him for pitching changes etc.
ReplyDeleteMy brother and I were at a game and he never notices anybody said hey that's Dick Ebersol (head of NBC sports) and as I was telling him hey there's Susan St. James, (MacMillian and Wife, Kate & Allie) who's his wife.
The best story ever was another friend who has insane seats 6 rows behind homeplate. Play offs, these two guys in matching track suits, sunglasses and matching rings sit down next to her and she spend the night looking and talking about Theo Epstein who is very cute and the general manager of the Sox. She didn't shut up about him. She told me the guys next her never took their sunglasses off, even though it was a night game, and she thought they were a couple because they were dressed alike and wore the same rings. The guys got up and left around the 8th. After they did, the lady behind her leaned up and said, just wanted you to know in case you didn't, you spent the whole talking about Theo to Donnie Wahlburg. The matching rings? he and his brothers all have family rings. I still crack up about it.
I don't think Levi is BT. Still think that BT was born in October. Remember Jake beaming leaving the doctors office with what looked like a sonagram picture after Levi was born?
ReplyDeleteBut interesting about thought about MM and Austin on the beach together.
I wonder why Jake wasn't at this thing, then? Because he is in Pittsburgh? Wouldn't you think he could've delayed travel to Pittsburgh for a few days to attend this thing? It sounds like it was kind of important and a big chance to promote this PoP?
ReplyDeleteIA. IMO Jake wasn't wanted at D23 and he went to PIT a couple days prior, how convenient. Whether or not he's absolutely needed there doing something related to LAOD is questionable. Disney couldn't have him being papped in LA getting coffee and buying ice cream and having leisurely outdoor sidewalk cafe lunches in Venice with Atticus sleeping at his feet, while D23 was showcasing POP down the road in Anaheim.
I wonder about the trailer they showed and if it was his voice. Could be they didn't want him there for that reason, people comparing the voices or asking him to speak like Dastan.
Was this "PR no-question" list part of something recently, or just an educated guess from a poster on what the POP interview promos will require?
Remember Jake beaming leaving the doctors office with what looked like a sonagram picture after Levi was born?
ReplyDeleteJake leaving the med office with a suspected sonogram was Sept 4, 2007. Levi was born early July 2008.
Most actors have a no questions list. It's not uncommon for them to have things they don't wish to speak about, its pretty standard. Some people won't talk about current gossip about them, other will not take questions on their family. (Demi's mom, Jen Aniston's mother, Jen about Brad for a long while etc.)
ReplyDeleteBoth Jake and Reese had their "relationship" "dating" thing off the table for Rendition. That was until the Rome photos hit.
Jake hasn't done any intervies since Rendition PR, so it will be interesting to see what does get asked and what never gets mentioned.
Thanks Dates!
ReplyDeletejust wanted you to know in case you didn't, you spent the whole talking about Theo to Donnie Wahlburg.
ReplyDeleteLOL. I hope she didn't compare Theo to Marky Mark or say the Wahlbergs are assholes or something.
You're welcome! Sept 4 Visiting Med Office
ReplyDeleteHushpuppygreen: served jake gylenhal tonite (sp?), ate by himself but was uber nice and talkative. Should have asked him to introduce me to his sister... [8 minutes ago]

ReplyDeleteGood morniingggg! Waiting for the daylight to glimmer through so I can go get a walk in before breakfast out. I cannot wait. That blueberry compote at First Watch awaits!!
ReplyDeleteAllow me to have the honor of giving some of you a heads up on what awaits you when you wake up. My hands are shaking I can hardly type, it's ridiculous!! No, it's nothing earthshattering. It's only eyecandy to the MAX!!! And since I have the floor because it's so doggone early on a Saturday, let me be the first to say.....

ReplyDeleteJAKE ------WHOOOOOO??????
ReplyDeleteJAUSTIN ------ WHOOOOOOO?????
BUCKIN ROCKS!!!!!!
lol
Oh. My. Dog.
ReplyDeleteWait until you guys see Spooky's new video clip! Holy crap.
I'm speechless. I can't believe those 2 guys.
I'm talking Robert Buckley and Austin, cripes, I can hardly type, lolll!! I keep messing up on my typing! in this videoclip, promoting OTH.
The beginning is real nice with all the stars talking about OTH coming up. But then! But then! Here comes sweet Buckley, running up to Austin and giving him this hug, nearly flashing his hiney at us, and those 2 guys are just gushing all over each other and talking about Roman wrestling matches!! Whaaaa??
Oh my dog, I think I could watch this clip a thousand times.
Tom, buddy, you have got to watch it.
And then at the very end when Buckley tells Austin his sandwich is ready?? Tells the cameraman that it's a PB&J with the crusts cut off just like he likes it??? Even if that's not Austin's favorite nor how he likes it, man, that enough to send me flat on my back, out of my chair.
And then Robert looks at the camera and goes, "ONETREEHILL!!" real fast?
If I was a "squee-er", let me tell you, I would be squeeing all over the place right now. But people are sleeping. It's barely after 5 a.m. And well....just a tad over the line of dignification.
lol.
I think I might have to switch my avatar back. As in now.
I swear, at the end of their hug, it looks like the BBM 4 years later hug all over again.
ReplyDeleteI know they were just playing, (or were they?), but man, that's enough to send the blood flowing. Too dangerous at 5 o'clock in the morning.
Okay, I've got to go watch that thing again. I'll be back in a few hours to see you all when you get up.
PG, when Robert comes up to Austin that's when he was finishing up the interview that is for E!
ReplyDeleteLooks like they have fun goofing around.
Oh yeah, they definitely do.
ReplyDeleteWhen Austin thanks Robert for telling him his sandwich is ready, is that a lilt in Austin's voice I hear? Good grief!!
I know they're playing around here, but man that is hot. Who else could make PB&J sandwiches sound like that? lol
