Prayers and Blessings

Austin's done a lot of different things this year, One Tree Hill, SoGo, biking, pictures, trips, red carpet moments, being seen with old friends in new ways, but there is one thing that that he did this past year, that shouldn't be lost in the shuffle. Prayers for Bobby.

This Sunday is the Emmy awards, and this Austin Friday we want to look back at the Emmy nominated move Prayers for Bobby.

Mary Griffith is a devout Christian, however, when her son Bobby confides to his older brother he may be gay, life changes for the entire family after Mary learns about his secret. While Bobby's father and siblings slowly come to terms with his homosexuality, Mary believes God can cure him of what she considers his 'sin' and persuades Bobby to pray harder and seek solace in church activities in hopes of changing him. Desperate for his mother's approval, Bobby does what is asked of him, but through it all, the church's apparent disapproval of homosexuality causes him to grow increasingly withdrawn and depressed. Guilty over the pain he is causing his, Bobby moves away, hoping that some day his mother will accept him. He blames himself for not being the 'perfect' son to his mother he takes his own life. Faced with their tragedy, Mary begins to question her faith when she receives no answers from her church concerning her devastating loss. Through her long and emotional journey, Mary slowly reaches out to the gay community and discovers unexpected support and finds herself finding a place of acceptance, advocacy and faith.

Austin ,who played Bobby's older brother Ed, got a chance to "make an important movie" as his character, Julian, on One Tree Hill would say, a movie with a message, one that can make a difference, and one that needs to be shared with everyone.

Congratulations and Good Luck to Sigourney Weaver on her Emmy nomination.

While looking back over the past year, today we also celebrate a new one.

As Rosh Hashanah begins today at sundown, here's wishing Jake and all who celebrate, a sweet and joyous year ahead.

L'Shanah Tovah!

Happy 5770!

Update:

Rescheduling the JFC Discussion.

Does next weekend the 24th and 25 work for everyone interested in the JFC discussion?

Or do we need to look into October.

  1. Happy New Year to everyone celebrating Rosh Hashanah.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Weaver, that would be great if she wins.

  2. Dear Ted:
So sorry to hear about your break-up. I hope that things will work out for the best. But, now that you are single, maybe you can tempt Toothy your way. Since you said that Grey Goose wised up, Toothy must be lonely in his closet. Maybe you can help him open the closet door a little and push his life-force draining beard over a cliff.
    —Naomi the Matchmaker

    Dear Loose Tooth:
    Please, Toothy couldn't get this!

    Dear Ted:
Is Toothy's beard a double beard?
    —Just Wondering

    Dear Double Entendre:
Practically speaking, no, and that's not her fault.

  3. Sounds like Ted is confirming that Austin is not with Jake.

  4. Jake Gyllenhaal, Hank Azaria and about 300 other people will be on campus filming a romantic comedy today.

Today marks the first day of production for "Love and Other Drugs," a movie directed by Edward Zwick, who made "The Last Samurai" and "Blood Diamond," among other films.

  5. I still haven't gotten around to watching Prayers for Bobby, but I think I'm going to take this post as a cue and finally watch it.

Sounds like Ted is confirming that Austin is not with Jake.

I see the exact opposite. Ted isn't saying that Toothy can't get him, he's saying Toothy couldn't get him.
As in: If Toothy was single and trying to get with Ted, he couldn't.

Couldn't either means it is not the case, but if it was then you couldn't do it.
Or it means that it's been attempted in the past but didn't work. And I don't think Jake tried to hit on Ted in the last few weeks.

If Ted had wanted to say that Toothy can try but won't suceed then he would have had to say "Toothy could never get this".

  6. I didn't get that from Ted. I don't take Loose Tooth as meaning they aren't together. I think was making a reference to the writer of the letter having a loose tooth, meaning that they are nutty (screw loose) for the pairing of Ted and Toothy.

But that's how I read it, after reading so much about Ted shutting down the Austin and Robert rumors the he did.

  7. Didn't Ted say this spring "We don't think G.G. can up and leave him."?

  8. "Didn't Ted say this spring "We don't think G.G. can up and leave him."?"

I think this is why he is saying now that Gray Goose "wised up". I agree with Destiny. I read today´s reply as a confirmation that Goose left Toothy.

  9. I think when Ted said he wised up he was referring to Austin being seen with Sophia. Remember it was around the time the pictures and the talk of them dating came out.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Ted often gives multpiple meanings to things. I think Loose Tooth sounds like a reference to TT being on his own and on the prowl, and it could also be a pun on screw loose for thinking Ted would ever want to be involved with a closeted man.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I agree Dest that Ted does write to give multiple meanings. Hey it's good for business. It keeps people talking and coming back. Ted's no dummy after all these years in the gossip game.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think Ted would never consider a bearding as something to praise with a "wised up" comment. On the contrary, he attacked Austin and Sophia for seeking publicity. Ted mentioned in the past that he thinks that Goose should leave Toothy, so if it happened it would be something Ted would consider as "wised up".

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think he did the wised up sarcastically since it was said during the time of the new rumors of them dating. But that's just my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm also a big believer in the the big blue theory, and seeing out after all the rumors, makes me think its a way of Austin giving his status.

The more I hear about who Ed Zwick is casting, the more I like this movie. It sounds like it is shaping up to be a great big comedy for Jake.

  17. I am sorry that I have not posted
for about a week. But I have had
    this awful cold/allergy since last
Saturday but I am starting to feel
a little better. I hope Prayers for
Bobby wins something. Also, I hope
very much that Grey Goose has not
left Toothy's life. I hate to hear
about Ted/Jon's breakup but I hope
that they can remain friends after
the divorce. I guess there is no
chance of them getting back together, is there? Anyway, have
    you definitely scheduled the JFC
    discussion for next weekend the
    24th or 25th? Have a good weekend,
    everybody!!

  18. Hey Kacie! Glad to see you back.

  20. New Interview with Austin on Buddy TV

-When it comes to how often the male stars of One Tree Hill remove their clothes, Nichols actually appreciates the fact that this show reverses the roles, as it's usually the women whose bodies are exploited and used in film and TV, but here, it's all about the men.

  21. Sometimes Ted gives me an immediate headache. And quite often lately his replies have been terse, which I now write off to his being flumoxed by his own breakup and so is in a pissy mood. I read it as he, Ted, would not do the nasty with Toothy. I think Ted objects to the closeting/bearding and his priciples are offended. He was gaga over Toothy in the very beginning, before the bearding started, but not any more. I would have gone with Goose/Toothy are over if Austin had not been wearing the ring of late, but as I have said before, I think the boys send us signals that all is OK and the ring is a neon sign blaring yes we are still together.

    Thanks for the song.

And thank you for the link about Tjostolv Moland & Joshua French. I have to admit I didn't know anything about the situation. Hope you keeps up to date on the situation.

  26. There no pictures of him there but a twitter has Jake at Casbah in Pittsburgh.

Don't know if he really was a Casbah or not, but it is his kind of restaurant and he will find it before shooting ends if he hasn't already.

Casbah is great, and has amazing food.

You will have to excuse me, I will be pretty nostalgic during the Pittsburgh shoot. I spent a few minutes thinking of my late friend Mark taking us to Casbah, sitting on the patio having a fabulous meal with great drinks, running "Datalounge:The Dining Out Edition" as we ate, checking out hot waiters, and looking at the torso sculptures on the walls and snarking.

  28. I cant wait till Sunday night. So much to look forward to. NPH being the host is awesome. Plus I would love to see an Emmy go to NPH, Ian McClellen and Sigourny. Each is among the favorites in their categories. It should be fun.

  29. Hi Norwegian Girl. Nice to see you posting. It feels great to me when I see old regulars come back to say hi. It sure has been tough hanging in there. I hope more of the old regulars come back more often. NG Girl, Frenchy, London, Seaweed, Chris, Heph, Joker. I know I am hanging in there as long as I can but admit that if Jake is foolish enough to marry a women he most likely does not love then i will be gone. I am hoping so much that it doesnt happen.

  32. Hi NG. It's been entirely too long. NPH doesn't make me swoon, but I sure do love him and what he has done by living honestly.

I was really looking forward to hearing Austin's interview, but have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I guess I shouldn't have expected much since the focus was the show, but it just felt like he was pushing the "normal" and perhaps the "straight" just a bit too hard.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm still reading Tom :) not posting anywhere though, really.

I agree with m's interpretation of the latest Ted.

destiny, I think that's something Austin does. That's why the Robert video was so refreshing. I also thought Austin's confidence with Robert said there was nothing going on between them. It's a 'type' thing IMO, like Paris fountain boy.
