OMG Brothers Trivia:

What is the one thing in common Tobey, Jake and Natalie all have done for a role?

  1. Lunch inside today and visitors are here. Visitors = free food! yayyyyy! lol

That means breakfast gets brought in and lunch as well. Today, it is barbeque from Johnny's. They have some of the best BBQ around. I love theirs. These guys are going through the Mountain Dew like nobody's business. I already filled that pop holder once already this morning and now I see it needs it again. These guys need an intravenous feed of that Dew.

Somebody here used to have that Cheyenne Jackson guy as their avatar. Who was that? First one to claim it gets...gets...gets...a virtual hug!! lol. Now that's going to bother me. Who was that?

Tomorrow night, I'm supposed to go to a nearby lake with my sister & our camping friend. We're going to have a little campfire complete with dogs & marshmallows, you know the whole bit. I saw chance of rain on the Weather Channel tomorrow night & that is worrying me. Then I'm supposed to work Saturday.

You caught me, Special! I was just about to leave my comment and there it was - Comments have been disabled by a blogger administrator, blah blah blah. But I was able to save my most worthwhile comment. It's not worthwhile; but I sure would've hated to re type it.

  3. I'm not fond of that Brothers poster. I love black & white photos and I get the point they're trying to make there. But I can't get past the brother cheats with his brother's wife situation. Don't glorify that with the poster.

Now, in the movie if (and I don't know the characters' names so excuse while I use the actors' real names) Jake & Natalie fool around thinking that her husband is dead (although what gives them cause to believe that?), I reckon that's alot more understandable. But if Tobey is just away at war and the other 2 start carrying on, then I can't get into that. But that's just me. I'm certainly not a good example.

Course, I excused Jack & Ennis, so I reckon that's a double standard.

Aw, caught in my own web of messiness! lol

Well, I'm off to go surf around some and take care of some comments on my story. I have to be careful with my journal here in the office, though. Dangit, somebody's always wandering around behind me. lol.

  4. I love BBQ, especially chicken wings. It used to be impossible to get decent BBQ in NY, but it has gotten a lot better than it used to be. Still nothing like in Kansas though.

Thanks for the reminder about 30 Rock. I haven't watched it as much this year, keep meaning to catch up on Hulu but I never do.

  5. Not a big fan of the poster either. Just last night I noticted that a a huge version of it has been plastered on a construction site in my neighborhood. I can't quite put my finger on what I don't like, although it seems a bit too "arty" and therefore maybe a bit pretentious for a film of this sort.

  6. I forgot to say earlier that those first pictures of the guys were killers for here at work.

  7. More Brothers and Oscar chat.

Do we have another surprise late contender ready to join “Crazy Heart” in some major Oscar races? The next couple of weeks will tell the tale, but at the moment director Jim Sheridan’s “Brothers” is starting to look as if it may become a legitimate player.

On Sunday night, the military-themed film, which is based on Danish director Susanne Bier’s award-winning 2004 movie “Brodre,” screened for members of the Directors Guild at the DGA Theater on Sunset Boulevard. The next day, the Envelope’s Pete Hammond (who moderated the post-screening discussion with Sheridan) posted an item wondering why no Oscar bloggers were talking about the film -- whereupon Hollywood Elsewhere’s Jeffrey Wells quickly pointed out that Lionsgate hadn’t screened the film for the folks Hammond was chiding.

(For a film that hasn’t been finished yet, like “Nine” or “Avatar,” a scarcity of screenings isn’t necessarily a warning sign; for a film that’s been in the can for a year, as “Brothers” has been, it can be a red flag.)

But the DGA screening has apparently set in motion a string of events that will culminate in next week’s launch of a full-fledged best-picture campaign for the film, and a best-actor push for star Tobey Maguire, who plays a soldier presumed missing in Afghanistan until he returns home to his wife (Natalie Portman) and younger brother (Jake Gyllenhaal).

To hear producer Ryan Kavanaugh tell it, the filmmakers proceeded cautiously because of uncertainty about the new landscape for Oscar campaigning. “With the change in Academy policy, we really wanted to let the film speak for itself before we made the decision whether or not to campaign,” he says. “If it got the momentum it needed once we showed it, we would do everything we could to support it as much as we can. And it certainly seemed to get that momentum.”

  8. Lionsgate has up For Your Cosideration for Awards for Brothers.

    Lionsgate Awards - For Consideration

Think Lionsgate has been focused on Precious, which no doubt will be getting lots of noms, but Brothers might be the dark horse for them.

  9. Several cast and crew members of “One Tree Hill” and government officials gathered at EUE/Screen Gems Studios Thursday morning to witness Governor Beverly Perdue sign Executive Order 28, which reauthorizes the North Carolina Film Council.

The council acts as an advisory panel to the governor in matters of the film industry. It is made up of 25 people appointed by the governor who come from various backgrounds including film, business and government.

....Afterward, she spent time talking with “One Tree Hill” cast members including Paul Johansson, Lee Norris, Bethany Joy Galeotti, Austin Nichols and Sophia Bush.

  10. I declare, I'm beginning to think Austin & Sophia are joined at the hip.

  11. Count me in as one who does not like that poster either. The broken image, the plainness. None of them look that good in the picture either.

  12. The poster reminds me of two things. Woody Allen's Interiors and an Ingmar Bergman movie.

  13. Cheyenne Jackson joins the cast of 30 Rock tonight.

On the show, Jane [Krakowski] will be bearding for Franco (as Ausiello reports) because it's Franco and Cheyenne whose characters are dating on the show.

  14. Thanks for the information from WDW. Sounds like it might be a pretty remote part of Eastern Europe if you are going to try and recreate the surface of the moon. With no date yet, and Source Code looking at filming the first part of the year, that Linman's movie will be after that might fall during Austin's hiatus on OTH. Of course Jake still have the Namath picture and Damn Yankees on his list of projects too. And with PoP, he maybe back with Bruck to do more for the franchise.

  16. Special, spooky has some priceless pictures of Austin with the Gov. now. They are great. Austin giving her a big ol' hug and an even bigger Austin smile.

And I told Spooky that something must have been funny because that guy to Sophia's right sure is laughing. I think the guy to her right might be Nathan's dad, I'm not sure. He looks different there.
I was also marveling at how beautiful Sophia is in those pictures, even in an old black sweatshirt. She's just one of those girls who looks beautiful with or w/o makeup - natural beauty.

I find it interesting that JJ calls Austin her boyfriend. Somewhere along the line, we missed the official proclamation from one of the involved-ees. Someone needs to ask Austin or Sophia for verification in their next interview. You know that Austin would do one of those Governor-like songs & dances, though, lol. He seems pretty good at that.

Hey, all you east coasters, are you buckling down? Watch out for all that rain that's coming. Tom, are you getting anything yet?

  17. Thanks PG. When I went to sleep the only pictures I saw were the ones from the Star Onlin I posted. Darn that 11pm news and video. But thanks to Spooky and Vesperlynd they got them.

  18. Answer to the Trivia question:

What is did Tobey, Jake and Natalie all do for a role?

Well it was more than a haircut. All shaved their heads for a part.
    Tobey - Brothers
    Jake - Jarhead
Natalie - V for Vendetta, and she did it on screen.

  19. If Jake got points on the back end he's could be sitting on a pile of money.

Prince of Persia Franchise could exceed 2.7 billion

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot believes Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time ’s visual impression won’t be the only thing to rival Pirates of the Caribbean. Speaking at the BMO Capital Markets 17th Annual Digital Entertainment Conference today, Guillemot said that the Jake Gyllenhaal-led action film franchise could be more lucrative than Disney’s Pirates trilogy. “What we hear is that it could be maybe stronger than Pirates , which did $2.7 billion dollars,” Guillemot said as part of his presentation to analysts and investors. “I think this will really help our brand to become a major brand in this industry.”

Ubisoft is a French computer and video game publisher and developer produces and manufactures the Prince of Persia games.

  21. While it would certainly be nice to have that kind of money, at what cost? So that Jake can go on fabulous vacations and dine in all the finest restaurants, etc. without Austin? So they can all that time apart because they can't be caught together in a place like Pittsburg or Wilmington? That's assuming they're even still together.

Well, hopefully they'll live long enough to enjoy some time together or with whatever partner they are then with when they're old and no longer in demand in the business.

But you can never count on that. I'm feeling pretty foul on that point right now because I just heard a horrible story of a very young co-worker's best friend who dropped dead. I won't go into details for privacy reasons, but suffice it to say its one of the saddest stories I've heard in a long time, one of those things that really gets you thinking about what really matters in life.

  22. [photo of Lance, Jake and Matthew]

    Dear Ted:
What ever happened to the Lance Armstrong, Jake Gyllenhaal and Matthew McConaughey bicycling group? Was one of the trio not manly enough?
    —Poga

    Dear The Three Amigos:
Which one, babe? Jake and Matt's time right now is clearly all taken up by their gals and kids. They're both on tight leashes. Not to worry, though, they still bike 'n' sweat together, just not as often as we'd like to see. And Lance gets in on the buddy action, too, just not as much now that he's rethinking running for political office.

Bitch-Back! Are the Muscle Buddies Dunzo?

  23. I'll say Jake's on a tight leash.

I will never, ever understand why he chose Reese to beard with. Never. I know the logistics seemed like a perfect fit but who wants to be ball & chained before you're even married, for crying out loud?

Ted's kind of exxagerating up there a bit, though.

You know the one thing (in addition to all the usuals) that makes Reeke so unbelievable? In the 3 years they've been "together", they've yet to have a "fight", a "difference of opinions", "different views", "bad days", "any separation", etc. Looking at all the rag covers & blissfully happy "leaks" to the rags by fictional inside sources, you would think these 2 have it all and never have had one single disagreement. That everything has been and is absolutely hunky dory in their little world.

And that, folks, ranks right up there as just as big a chink in their armor as anything else. No one lives that kind of fairytale life, least of all in HW. PR - another course in Bearding 101 that you forgot to take.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I mean, come on. 3 years and every picture that is chosen for the rags, every story? It's A Bright Sunshiney Day, (according to the Brady Bunch song, lol!). How unbelievable is that? Even Brangelina has woeful tales of growing pains.

Hey, I'm all alone in the office! woohooo! Now it's back to work. Big Boss is gone today so ahhhhh, it's so much more relaxed.

  25. Special, are you all supposed to get any Ida effects? This storm is proving to be rather dangerous to unsuspecting people out in the water.

    Don't go near the ocean!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. While I do think the leash partly refers to Reese, I think the real leash is the closet and not being able to just be himself in public. Ted says the same thing about McBongo, and it sure doesn't look like he has the same kind of relationship with his beard.

I think Ted is mostly saying these three guys don't want to do anything that gives off the whiff of anything remotely gay.
