Action Figure

Jake has always said he wanted to be a superhero or do an action hero kind of movie. And it's that just one of the reasons he is doing Prince of Persia. And from all the gossip about auditions and items about his name up for various roles (Batman, Green Lantern, Captain America) he has been wanting to do it for a while. And his name has come up again, for the new Spiderman, now that studios have to decided that Tobey is not person to take Spiderman into the 10's. Jake was this close to playing Spidey before, but is he really up for the role again?

The word is that they wanted to make a younger Spidey and have floated names like Robert Pattinson and Zac Efron as next potential Peter Parker for 2012. But Jake's name has come up too. All three have the name to carry the next incarnation of the franchise. Yes Jake is younger than Tobey, but is he young enough to be the Spidey they want?

And would he do it if he's tied up with Prince of Persia? Would Bruckheimer let him, is the bigger question. Could you have two franchises at the same time? Was this one of the things Bruck was talking to Jakey about when they went out for Tuesday night hockey?

One thing in common about Spidey and Dastan is there are action figures for both. And looks like Jake has no problem being made in miniature and turned into a action figure. Honestly who wouldn't want to be turned into an action figure. (come on admit it) Jake says he will be first in line to buy the miniature version of himself for his Prince of Persia ones. “A lot of people find it weird to have little action figures of themselves, but I think it’s great. In fact it’s awesome! I can’t wait. I’m going to buy loads.”

But he, along with his rumored competitor for Spiderman Rob Pattinson are action figures in another way too. Both we will be a part of George Clooney's Hope for Haiti telethon this Friday. They will joining other stars to help to raise desperately needed funds for Haiti.

The two-hour telethon will air on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, The CW, HBO, MTV, VH1 and CMT as well as networks including PBS, TNT, Showtime, Comedy Central, Brave, E! Entertainment and more, with online live streaming available on YouTube, Hulu, MySpace and more domains as well.

Clooney will host from LA, CNN’s Anderson Cooper will report from Haiti and Wyclef Jean in New York City. According to E! Rob will present from London.

Some of the musical acts will include Wyclef, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira and Sting from NYC, from LA, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder and Taylor Swift Keith Urban, Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow and from London, Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z and Rihanna and Coldplay.

This is one chance we all can be an action figure. The need in Haiti is so great, and every little bit no matter if it looks small to you makes a big difference when combined with other.

Some of you may have already donated, others will wait for the telethon, but if you want to donate and not sure where, here is a list of reputable agencies that will help take your gift and put it to good use helping the people of Haiti.

  1. LOL PG, you cracked me up with that dirty snowball idea. We'd be able to see the face better too. :-D

I'd be willing to come to Kansas, I would probably combine it with a trip to Colorado to visit my family.

Passingby, I'll tell you what I used to say about Reeke. Sophin could do the dirty deed in the middle of the Wilmington town square and it still will not change my mind about Jake and Austin.

But I do love the idea of us all showing up in Wilmington too.

  3. Hurry up, filming ends the 2nd week in March

Thanks Passing by for info about when OTH finishes up.

Funny how that OTH finishes up and Source Code starts right around the same time. Almost like it was worked out that way. Hmmmmm

PG Full Count was filmed in Old Town Lenexa, Lenexa, all over Johnson County and part of KCK and KCMO and Westport.

  4. But you didn't need Passing by to tell you when OTH is going on hiatus SK, you already knew that.

"Ugly Betty's plotlines this season veer from the outrageously cartoonish (Daniel Meade joins a cult; Betty dresses like a giant hot dog) to the grittily real (Justin Suarez battles homophobia at school; Claire Meade tracks down her lost son). Episodes that find a way to cleverly merge the two are always excellent, and last night the show recovered from its sluggish previous week with an energetic hour that was nearly as sharp as Marc's best line: "This ménage au moi has got to stop," he says, of feeling split between bosses Wilhelmina and Daniel. "I hate being in the middle. Unless there's a Gyllenhaal involved."

  9. Hi PG and all,

I'd love to go to Kansas City! Never been. Sorry I didn't get to meet you when you last came to Boston PG, but it would be fun to have another OMG Get Together. I remember the last one very well. Meet you all at 12th Street and Vine, maybe? :)

I guess it's safe to think that when we don't know the persons we talking about and never will.
I think the same too but more by choice than by certitude.

  11. We know that Jake was bearding for more that two years. Straight men don't need beards.

We know that Sophia denied dating Austin and that Austin refused to answer question about dating Sophia.

  12. Hey, that would be cool, netb!! I think we have an honest to goodness train going here. We have Tom, me (not me, well yeah, me, but not me me LOLLLLLL !!), Tom, Destiny and maybe your gf?, Special, and me; that's an excellent start.

How does Labor Day sound? I better double check our calendar at work and jump on that one just in case. I would ask for a couple extra days for whoever needed a pu and return from or to the airport. I know the way to San Jose, no, no, no, no, to the airport! lol. I thought if we tried for Labor Day, that would really help give people time to save some $$$ and plan. Plus, that way if no one could get any time off, there would still be a 3-day weekend there.

It normally is warm here at that time - still swimming weather. We have 2 pools at my complex. Whoever wants to stay at my place, just come on over!!
Wow, I just remembered. I would have to be sure & not accept any dogsitting engagements for that weekend. That would be disastrous, wouldn't it? "Well, you guys, here's the key to my apt, help yourself to anything, I need to go watch the wieners/borders/lab/English bulldog/etc. now. I'll see you in the morning." LOL. That would be bad.

I hope I really shouldn't have to say this but I will just to make sure & emphasize. This gathering is open to anyone who wants to come. I know there are some who don't want to register or use a regular name, even. But surely there's a way to meet you and we wouldn't have to give away any names - it would be a confidential thing for all those who are there, right? We are careful with the picture taking. None of us will have our faces put on the blog. Although I believe my legs were on here once, LOLLL. That's okay, I don't mind - even the back of my head. But I don't want anyone to feel nervous about being exposed in any way. We have such a great time - you would not believe it. And hey, if you've never seen 1101 strip malls, this would be your big chance. They are a sight to behold.

And even in the midst of any sightseeing, I think we should do at least one or two mini field trips.

    1) Whole Foods

    2) Starbucks

I really need to see just what is so great about this Whole Foods.
    Oh! and

    3) drive through Lenexa
That should take about 10 minutes.

I can tell already with this agenda, that we will have people pounding down the cyber doors to get in on this one.

    LOLLL

And finally, most importantly on the agenda -

a big Jake/Austin/Atticus/whoever else Roundtable. Oh yeah, it doesn't get any better than that.
    I'm excited.

And this will all be subject to the approval of the OMG Grand Poobah-ess, Special. As I don't want to do anything that is not with the written consent of the registered trademark OMG.

  14. How about production for the new movie is in March because they need to get it done before POP premieres and Jake has to travel all over the world to promote it.
How about they have to get the movie done and in the bank before the box office results are in for POP incase they pull the plug on the movie should POP numbers be a big flop. How about lots of movies film in March because that is when the almost all the TV stars are on hiatus from their series and can and are free to work on movies, which usuall film from March thru May.

It's more likely that Jake and those who are part of this project want to get the movie made and get paid for it prior to the release of POP. If they don't than the project would not be made until mid summer and the studio could get could feet.

But your a free to make up bogus reasons why if you like. Surely a studio would hold up a multimillion dollar production so that Jake could have his pretend boyfriend on set with him.

I wonder what everyone will do when March comes around and Austin is once again doing his own thing and not doing it with Jake.

In almost two years there have been perhaps three times that Jake & Austin have been photographed or seen in the same state. The last photos biking in April 2009.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Why would Jake wait till March if he has to do heavy PR for PoP that opens in May wouldn't he want to start earlier? The shoot shouldn't take super long, 6 weeks probably. There is just two locations for the whole movie and the plot is that he keeps reliving it until he figures out what is going on.

Oh and NONE of the major leads in the movie do Television so there is no reason for them to wait for a hiatus for that that.

There has been word that Jake may be working with Duncan Jones on the production side of it. So maybe he will be a exec producer on it, and may be he get a say deciding WHEN it fit not just into his schedule but his Family's schedule for production.

You forgot to add this to the post:

    http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/ent/stories/DN-peppard_0120gd.ART.State.Edition1.4c00875.html

The commercial should be airing during the telethon.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks for the information about the commercial.

When TV commercial director Rocky Powell got a call last Thursday to drop everything and fly to LA for a shoot, he figured it was something big. All the movie stars in the empyrean were gathering for the Golden Globes and they were all saying the same thing: "Haiti."

Based in Dallas, Rocky has filmed spots with Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush for tsunami relief, as well as the recent Don't Mess With Texas celebrity TV campaign.

Friday afternoon, Rocky learned he would be shooting some of the biggest names in the biz for a Red Cross commercial to benefit relief in Haiti. Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, etc., would rendezvous with Rocky in less than 24 hours at the headquarters of Creative Artists Agency.

There was only one glitch: his Friday night appearance at his child's University Park elementary school.

"I was playing guitar with Cary Pierce [of JackoPierce] for a Hyer [Elementary] concert to raise money for the school," he says. "So, literally, as we finished our encore, my wife, Kathleen, and I dashed to D/FW for the 10:10 p.m. flight to LAX."

At noon Saturday, the movie stars began arriving. "Meryl Streep walked in alone, unannounced and simply came on set and chatted with everyone," Rocky says. "Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal came separately and were such pros." (Reese and Jake recently broke up.) Eva Longoria Parker also came and did the script in Spanish, and Faith Hill and Tim McGraw made a husband-wife appearance.

"Morgan Freeman was such a presence," Rocky adds. "He had a great sense of humor and I had to remind him to stop flirting with Kathleen."

Rocky's wife came to handle script duties because no crew could be found on such short notice for the holiday weekend. Unfortunately, the airline lost her bag. "She ended up wearing the same outfit that she wore the night before to the Hyer concert," Rocky says. "She still looked great."

Oprah Winfrey will unveil the Red Cross commercial on her show Friday.

  22. Gee, when you think about it, Tom, spring training is not all that far away, about 1 1/2 months.

Hey, Tom, the Royals are home that weekend. They play the Tigers on that Fri, Sat & Sun. They are in Minnesota on that Monday. Royals Stadium (well, Kauffman Stadium, I think it is) is really nice. Special, you've been there, haven't you?

I can rent a (I can't believe I'm saying this because I hate these things) big honkin' SUV so we can all travel together. I don't fancy the idea of driving it, tho. I'm used to my little 4-cylinder, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I might need to drive, though, since alot of you don't anymore. lol. The people who drive those big machines don't know how to turn a corner and they certainly don't know how to park them. And don't get stuck behind one on a circular merge ramp because they can't round a corner and you end up going 35-40 mph merging into traffic going 70-80 mph and then they leave you in the dust once they're on a straightaway. grrrrrr.

  24. Say, a very important question here! I will ask over on WFT2 as well because I am really curious.

When you were in older grade school/junior high, did rubbing/circling/poking your finger against the palm of your heart's desire mean anything? When I was in 5th or 6th grade, this kid named Al did it to me during music class while we were dancing around and back then, it was supposed to mean they wanted to do you. Has anybody else heard of that or done that or is this just something my school did? lol.

This is a serious question, really!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Okay, you slackers! I got my help from WFT2 already.

lol. Is everyone already turned into bed here?

Just teasing. Everyone have a good night's rest. Tomorrow is Friday and last day of the work week, thank goodness!

    Sweet dreams to you all.

  27. Jake does not have the power to dictate when a movie shoots. Very few actors have that ability in HW. You'd have to be a real proven money maker for a movie to wait on your schedule, and that sure isn't Jake. There are too many people involved, they are expensive, the logistics, etc. And since you seem to think Jake is taking BT with him (very private places in London, e.g.) I don't see why it matters. Jake was certainly shooting LAOD while OTH was filming.

I agree that Jake is trying to get in movies before PoP comes out, in case it bombs. At least this time he is being smart; I think he really burned himself by holding out for more money when BBM started getting nominated for award.

PG, forgot to say earlier that I looooove Modern Family, it is one of my favorite shows. Haven't watched the episode this week yet, but I always really look forward to it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Last night't episode was pretty funny.

That one particular father is so hilarious. He said he prides himself on being a "cool" dad and that he knew all the latest "lingo" like LOL. I died laughing on that one.

Boy, this was a night for falling asleep in the chair. I missed the rest of House Hunters International. Good grief. Guess I better hit the hay.

    ReplyDelete
  29. With Jake working so closely with Duncan Jones, and possibly a part of production, I do think he can say what can and can't work with schedule wise for him.

And this hasn't happen just once or twice with shooting schedules for Jake and Austin over the past several times in the past 2 years. There is is distinct pattern with one on and one off.

I do think if Jake says his schedule doesn't work for him that there are things that get moved around.

What do you think about Brothers. One of the three of them said that they couldn't do PR for Brothers and that movie got pushed back after shooting to accommodating that.

If you have your name above the title you have some pull about when you shooting happens.

PG, I have been to the Big K more than a few times, but haven't seen the stadium since they have done it over. My dad says it is great. Tom, don't worry there are always tickets for Royals games. Believe me. One game I was there they were telling 2 for 1 outside the stadium, and it was the SOX! I think I could hear the screaming of Sox fans from Boston going WHAT!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. In the case of a relatively new director, the star does have clout and can make demands. I think that's part of the reason Rendition had problems. The balance of power was not right. A certain female of whom we will never speak even insisted on doing her filming in LA due to her divorce. Yep, Jake and Austin have juggled their schedules quite a bit the past 2 years, not just for this movie.

So passing by, do you live in Wilmington. Because you seem to be the only person that sees Austin and Sophia anywhere. Even Hilary said he disappeared every weekend.

As to a get together, I am open to it but it depends on business, time off etc. Once its set, I'll see if I can make it. I've been to Overland Park on business a handful of times, but not in the last 10 yrs.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The reason for the Brothers delay was BS. Jake agreed to do Pop while he was still filming Nailed, hr and his peope knew that they would need time off to promote Brothers.

He had time off from filming Rendition in Morocco to fly to NY and do promo for Zodiac, it's in the contract of all actors.

The idea that Disney wouldn't let him promote Brothers is silly.

Brothers was not ready and Sheridan was re-editing it. It still wasn't ready last year and that would explain why it wasn't shown at any of the festivals.

Funny that Jake only did one talk show for it. Yes he did the news conference and screening but that took place the same day as the Kimmel taping. On 11/21 he did that press junket on a Sat. because he wasn't filming that day.

He had to film on that following monday and missed the NY premiere.

Filming has noyhing to do with star power, it's just the starting date for a lot of films.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Forgot to add that Brothers also had troule with distrib ution at the time as well, MGM was suppose to distribute it and it was havong financial problems. Lionsgate picked it up.

So Disney got blamed for them pushing the film to 2009 and Tobey's reluctance to go to Cannes was the blame for it not being shown at Cannes, both BS.

None of the stars are promoting the film in the UK where it opens today.

Jake doesn't have that kind of star power, Tobey does that's why he git the GG nom.

If Source Code was scheduled to film now he would be filming now.

PS: The are/were problems with Pop that's why it was pushed to 2010, they are still not done. LoTs of CG reshoots using Jske's doule.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Tom, don't worry there are always tickets for Royals games. Believe me. One game I was there they were telling 2 for 1 outside the stadium, and it was the SOX! I think I could hear the screaming of Sox fans from Boston going WHAT!!!!!

LOL! 2 for 1. snicker. That sounds just like Royals fans. Hey, Royals fans have to have a prompt on the big electronic scoreboard to tell them to make noise. How sad is that?

They do have a much younger fanbase now and T-shirt night is very popular. Those are the only games I go to - T shirt night to get a free T-shirt.

I don't know anything about how much or how little clout Jake has.

But when Heath died, didn't they shut down production of Brothers and close off the set? Or was it that he was excused from filming?

m, you've been to Overland Park? That's in my neighborhood, too!! m, you have to come. You need to!
I'm going to tell Wicked about it, too, right now as a matter of fact.

I would agree, m. Seems to me that passing by just about has to be a resident of Wilmington in order to personally vouch for every single weekend of Austin in 2009 as has been professed. And Hilarie B. said he disappeared on weekends which would have seemed to me to mean he was not in Wilmington. Now, that would include about 1/2 of 2009, right? I am not seeing this "every weekend" of Austin with Sophia.

Okay, better go. Last day of the work week. Thank goodness.

  34. Dear Ted:
Just asking...if a Blind Vice is true and/or half of Hollywood already knows the truth, what legal trouble can you get in for revealing it?
    —J.R.

    Dear Naive:
On a lot of the gay ones, I could probably finagle an answer out of some, legally speaking. But in my gut, wouldn't do it. It's ultimately up to them. I'll gently push them, though: Come on, Toothy!

    Dear Ted:
I hope all is well. My doggy sends a friendly "woof" to your kids! I have two questions. Not sure if this has already been asked, but first question is: Do Toothy and Grey Goose actively raise Baby Tile, or was this a "sire" situation? (As in Toothy, uh, provided elements to help make the baby for a friend or family member who is raising the baby). Second, of all the closeted Blind Vices you've reported over the years, which one is most likely to come out?

  37. I can only imagine what LOL stands for (don't tell me) as I am still laughing over WTF--why the face.

One reason why I really like Modern Family is that everyone has good and bad things about them, and sometimes they do unexpected things. It's not like a typical comedy where just one or two characters are the brunt of all the jokes, and they're all stereotypical jokes at that (e.g. mother-in-law jokes).

My money is on Crotch too; Franco just does too many gay-oriented roles/things.

Plus I wonder if his doing so many different things isn't to see what other opportunies there are out there if he comes out and it hurts his career. I don't think it was a coincidence that he was on 30 Rock, I bet he knows people on the show.

It makes me think of the article about that pr guy who builds a whole strategy and runnup to his clients coming out.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Damn I do love it when Ted gives those short definitive answers. Active was just what the person who wrote the letter wanted to know. Thanks ted.

I saw some clips of Franco in the Alan Ginsberg story. Looked kind of weird. Franco is adoreable but he sure is quirky. Sure is interesting how many gay roles he is taking on.

Speaking of baseball. I got two tickets for Spring training in Mrach. Phils/Tigers. Phils/Twins.

  39. What "active" mean ? they raise the kid themselves and not others people around?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am not sure about James Franco. He still brings the beard to every event. From Ted's twitter yesterday (Taryn is at the Sundance Film Festival):

"francos girlfriend lovingly waiting for him inside premiere"

    ReplyDelete
  41. "What "active" mean ? they raise the kid themselves and not others people around?"

Yes, "active" means Toothy and Goose are raising the kid themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I can see James Franco saying in the short term he is bisexual (even if he is gay) as a way of coming out though.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I didn't realize he brought the beard/girlfriend to Sundance. And maybe he is/will say he is bisexual.

In addition to the movie roles, the short film he made and taking a queer film class at NYU, I was reading somewhere about a performance art piece he is working on with some performance artist, and it has gay themes too. Cannot remember where I read that or who the others involved were.

    ReplyDelete
  44. To me active means they are doing the parenting, not a nanny or relatives or hidden boyfriends. A good reason why they juggle their work schedules. That they can do this so effectively is amazing. They must be doing it outside the Hollywood environs where no paps hang around to catch them. Ted sticks to baby tile and so do I.

2 yr anniversary today of Heath's death. I still think about him every day.

PG, I have basically had the same job for the last 20 years, but ownership of the company has changed numerous times. At one point we were owned by a company headquartered in Overland Park and 2-3 times a year they flew everyone in for a big meeting, including entertainment. I am not kidding, comedians and what not. They only owned us about 2 years though before selling us off. Same ownership now for the past 10 years and west coast based.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I take Ted to mean that BT is with them, as opposed, to say, living in Texas with Austin's family or in Brooklyn with Maggie, the latter being something I have long wondered about.

I think it would be impossible for them to raise a baby without a nanny as there have been times when their work has overlapped. Also, if they are traveling to film locations with BT, they would need a nanny or someone else to travel with them because there is no way we wouldn't have gotten a mention of Jake traveling with a child. We've certainly had plenty of sightings of him at airports, and photos too.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yes, "active" means Toothy and Goose are raising the kid themselves.

Ted, this is the biggest piece of BS you have written. You really need to stop this leading these gay/babytile fans on.
    Check yourself Ted

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ahhhhh yes, BT is a humdinger of a controversial topic.

I believe there is a BT as well.

Ted won't let it drop; just keeps hammering that nail.

Sorry if that upsets some people. No one is saying it's mandatory or anything. But for those who simply believe that BT exists, it's not "wrong" to believe. Some people believe in Bigfoot. Some people believe in various political figure/presidential cover ups. Some people believe in other things for which there is not concrete evidence.

It's just an issue that can be debated.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Why would Ted would Ted keep up the TT, GG, BT saga if there are so few people interested. I think Teds motives are personal.
