Jake might be laying low during the warm weather but he will be heating things up during the cold weather months this year and next. With LaOD drugs opening in November, it looks like Source Code will be out early next year. 4 Films out in less than a year and a half? What is this 2005?
In an exclusive on Man Made Movie, Duncan talked about SC's progress. "Well, I think it is safe to say that the film will be out early next year." He is currently in the process of editing with Paul Hirsch. But there hasn't been one peek, trailer, or official picture to come out yet, and it sound like Duncan is playing this time will be a bit different than it was with Moon.
[SC] "is a little bigger, and I think we can afford to hold our cards a little closer to our chest. I feel much more comfortable with that, because it means that when we DO release stuff, we will have had a chance to really work on it, think it through and make sure it really gives everyone a good sense of what we are trying to make. Source Code is very different than Moon… its quite a bit different from a lot of films, to be honest, and Im hoping when we are ready to show people, the patience will pay off."
Duncan was asked what is was like working on SC and with Jake.
"It has been a seismic shift on how I would normally work, but I think I have adjusted ok. It all makes complete sense, when you think about it. With more money, there is more caution, more advice, more suggestion, and over the course of making the film, I had to keep reminding myself that I was asked to direct the film because the people in charge trusted my choices. I think that was the real turning point. At first it was a little over whelming, being second-guessed so much, but I educated myself fast, and fortunately I was supported by the incredibly gracious and talented Jake G, who really got behind me and trusted my instincts. It would have been easy to lose my perspective, with so many others being offered."
And we know what Jake thinks about Duncan and SC
“Duncan is so awesome and he is an extraordinary director – working with him has been that exactly and I think this movie that we are making is mind boggling.”
Not that we mind getting all of this of Jake at once, but we wouldn't complain having a film a year, after year after year.
Who's the two in the picture? (Easy right?) But here's your challenge. How are they connected to Jake?
If you're going for the Mick Ronson/Samantha Ronson connection to Jake - try again. Not Samantha's father.
ReplyDeletemore six degrees please
ReplyDeleteDay as an extra on OTH
ReplyDelete...I was in four scenes (fingers crossed that they’re all used!). The first two were really taxing: I had to walk back and forth in front of Clothes Over Bros. The first of the two was about nine o’clock, and when I rounded the corner on my walk, I almost ran smack into Austin Nichols (Julian), who looks hot as shit with his hair all curly and unkempt.
....About 1:30 we were all driven in the vans to lunch (oh, got to walk through the front of COB, the actual “store,” which was cool) two blocks away, in a Hilton conference room. Before we even walked in I could hear Sophia’s throaty voice. She was at a corner table, sitting next to Lisa Goldsomething (Millie). As I was getting my food at the buffet I heard Sophia say something about her and Austin (Julian, her on and off-screen boyfriend) having watched Ghostbusters the night before. I sat down and tried not to stare at their table (she was still wearing her black and gray) but it was hard not to. She’s very loud—her voice carries—and seemed to draw all the attention in the room.
Other than that being Duncan Jones' father, David Bowie, during a Spiders from Mars gig?
ReplyDeleteSomeone posted this on WFT2 about Tom Hardy, who is in Inception. He told an interviewer that "of course I've had sex with men".
ReplyDeleteTowleroad
He will be playing Mad Max in the remake. So, looks like we have our first(?) openly bisexual action star.
No clue as to the other connection between Jake and the Bowie photo.
Openly bisexual male action star.
ReplyDeleteMore pictures old pics from TDAT, this time Berlin on IHJ.
ReplyDeleteAgain you wonder how Jake had pictures with everyone connected to TDAT EXCEPT Austin.
Do you think one day those pictures will finally ever be released?
I'd be really surprised if way back then they would have thought about holding back pictures. More likely they avoided each other while photos were taken.
ReplyDeleteLOL easy. David Bowie is Duncan Jones's father. I'm not sure but the other guy might be Iggy Pop; where/if the Jake connection is there idk.
ReplyDeleteDiamond Dog, have you read any of the other comments here about that pic? Yeah didn't think so.
ReplyDeleteWith all the Chelsea Wedding Watch, there is talk about her past bf's, and yup Jake face popped up in the montage.
ReplyDeleteMick Ronson = Samantha Ronson's Dad
ReplyDeleteDavid Bowie = Duncan Jones' Dad
:) Hope I'm right?

So Spesh, are you ever going to reveal the connection between Mick Ronson-not-Samantha's-father and David Jones aka David Bowie aka Duncan Jones' father?
ReplyDeleteTom Hardy sounds like an interesting guy. His role in Inception is kicking his career up several notches. Handsome man. How refreshing to see someone so honest.
ReplyDeleteYou know things are slow if IHJ has to drag out pictures from 2004. Cute to see how young Jake looked back then though.
A-ha. So that's why Jake plays guitar.
ReplyDeleteCW won’t hold court for critics until tomorrow, but I talked with CW president Dawn Ostroff tonight about her thoughts on locally filmed drama “One Tree Hill” and the chances of it continuing beyond eight seasons.
ReplyDeleteOstroff echoed a refrain I’ve heard from her from years: Never say never, and don’t underestimate “OTH” showrunner Mark Schwahn.
Me: “Is this the final season for “One Tree Hill”?”
Ostroff: “I have to be honest. Mark Schwahn is amazing. He has pulled rabbits out of the hat over and over and over again. The viewers are still there and passionate for us. And it’s not just what they watch on air. They’re streaming it (online). They’re DVRing it… It becomes a matter of, will he be able to do enough this season to keep the viewers real excited about it. If he does, and if they are, we’re happy picking it up again… We’d be game if it is still working.”
Many of the locals close to the show have hinted that this season would be its final year, pointing to expiring contracts for much of the original cast and crew.
StarNews
A lot of good guesses and deep thinking of the connection. It wasn't that complex or deep. Some may annoyed with my thought process, it is maybe just to simple thinking.
ReplyDeleteThe ambiguous Bowie and masculine down to earth Ronson's (even Bowie said they were Ying and Yang) guitar fellatio onstage in mainstream music in 1972, created s a sensation and discussion about sexuality. It brought out something into the mainstream that hadn't been really seen or talked about so openly before.
Now it is not a big deal, is it?
The connection for me was that Jake did the same thing with Heath in mainstream movies over 30 years later. Playing the ambiguous game at the time, taking risks in performance. Creating a sensation and open discussion.
Maybe not my best connection, but it was just what I thought when I saw the picture again.
Oh please. Nice save. What you asked was the "connection" to Jake and "six degrees". What you offered as explanation was neither a connection nor six degrees. I don't think you were expecting that most people already knew Bowie was Duncan's father or that Ronson WASN'T Samantha's father.
