Leaps and bounds

While Austin's looping on toaster pastries (toaster pastry taste so good and yummy/toaster pastry get into my tummy/frosting doodle on my strudle/now im gonna eat you up) on the Crazy Tree, and twitter free in Indonesia, (where his sheer size alone makes him a stand out ) it was another full workday for the hubs.

Jake stopped by to sit down with Conan, and what did the two chat about? Well a lot about beards. "It's true bearded people sort of congregate together....they sort of have a relationship".

Jake also called Conan "the Abraham Lincoln of talk show hosts" and warned him "don't go to that show."

Think Jake was talking about much more than facial hair? ; ) Really doubt it was just an attempt to get some of this from Conan. Then again, the power of Coco compels.

A change of location and suit AND shoes, Jake looked hot in a dark blue suit with a grey shirt and tie as charmed everyone on the red carpet at the LA Premiere of Source Code.

This the Jake we love to see.

Giving his best Derek Zoolander Blue Steel.

"Al is that you? It's Sam. What year am I in?"

Tie in to his tall Texan,
never far from his mind (or heart)

Now it's off to NY and from what we know the first stop is The Daily Show.

But don't think NY is the last stop on the Source Code train. A tweet this morning announced that Jake and Duncan will be in Berlin promoting the film April 7th.

Hey Jake try the Currywurst.

Happy Two Wheel Tuesday.

  1. Cool! Berlin, huh? That's great.

But man, he has got to be missing those kids, wouldn't you think? Because I don't think he has them at all right now and probably hasn't had them since that SXSSXSXSwhatever Festival in Austin.

I like this Michelle Monsignor, although she does look different in these pictures than she does in the movie. Maybe it's the haircut?

  2. I do wonder if Jake's big beard last year was because he couldn't shave, so what ever happen could heal.

I also thought about if Jake had a spot on his face that might have had some sun damage that they were concerned about. His coloring, and all that time out in the sun, he is more at risk.

  3. big beard. LOL. Sounds so close to Big Bird.

  4. Well, isn't this interesting now. The twists and turns of the social life of Jake Gyllenhaal (courtesy of Marianne Garvey of eonline):

Carey Mullian is singing a new tune after moving out on Shia LaBeouf.

The Kewpie doll-like actress has found love again with Marcus Mumford, the lead singer of folk-rock band Mumford & Sons.

And it's gotten so serious so fast, the British actress has flown home from her base in New York City to live in the U.K. to be with her new honey.

So how'd these two hook up?

The 25-year-old An Education star, who split from LaBeouf in October after getting together in the summer of 2009 on the set of Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, is currently with Mumford, 24, in Buckinghamshire. She also reportedly took a romantic trip last week with the "Little Lion Man" singer to the Orkney Islands in northern Scotland, according the U.K.'s Daily Mail.

Mulligan, who was linked to Robert Pattinson's best bud Tom Sturridge after the LaBeouf split, has also been spotted lately hanging out at Mumford's home in Shepherd's Bush, London.

But their affair was reportedly sparked in Nashville, Tennessee last month after Mumford invited Mulligan to watch him play a private show in the basement of a pal's house in the music city. After a late night dinner together at the City House restaurant, where they carried on like a couple, it seems it was full blown love.

Mumford will be back in the U.S. next month to tour with his two-time Grammy nominated band. They will travel on a vintage train rather than a bus and Mulligan is rumored to be joining them for part of the tour. We think the actress, no stranger to roughing it, will have a blast.

    Now wait a minute.......

I thought the rags were being peddled the story that this was about Carey M and Jake?

So was Nashville all about being an interview of sorts? Was Jake serving as a broker?

  5. You know what's funny about these HW "romances" I notice is that they're always taking off like gangbusters. They're always bruising, heavy hitting, intense love at first sight, necessitating quick action!!

Moving in!! Meeting the Parents!! Romantic Getaways!!! Meeting the Children!!! Wedding Rumors!!! Meeting the Grandparents!!! Buying a Dog together!!! Walking Said Shared Dog together!!! Meeting the Housekeeper!!! Writing up a Will together!!! Meeting the Lawyers!!!!

    lol

  6. Oh, there we go!!! Baby chunky butt bunny is back!!

    where is everybody???

Too much redneck rumblings and chatter yesterday, I guess.

Another interesting story on eonline today re: Ice Maiden's wedding guest list and how they connected with the frozen one. It's not so much that they connected with her, it's that they were mostly clients of Dark Socks Toth. Think I ought to call him DST for short.

  7. Here's Jake at the premiere talking to Ben Lyons. This time in LA. And yes, his go-to BG is right there with him.

    ENews Gyllenhaal Jokes at Premiere

Jake said Lady Gaga stole his shoulders.
(She was performing down the street from the premiere)

Check out what Jake says when Ben asks him about buying a place in NY.

Jake also says that he is working on his character for End of Watch and that filming starts in July.

  8. It's impossible to tell where the spinning is sometimes PG. I would think Mumford would have met her before asking her to come all the way to Nashville for a show. Either this is all just the usual pr dribble, or things are moving fast because she's actually been seeing him for some time already.

  9. Oh my goodness. And I do mean goodness.

Wow, Jake looks good. Love, love love the shirt, and shoes. And the scruff. And the pants. He's got great legs.

I think Michelle looks cute too. Looking forward to SC. I thought Jake was funny on Conan.

  10. Jake does look good, as does Michelle, and I like that interview he did with Lyons.

You know, I kind of liken Jake to a politician or an athlete. He goes out and "performs". Then he comes back, his people go over the tape, and then they make changes, draw up new plays if needed, and perform any damage control.

I agree PG, and I think doing that makes some of the things he says come off, well, a little off. Which is how I still feel about the Conan interview.

  11. I don't agree that Jake acts like he wants to talk about his kids; quite the opposite. I guess it's because personally I find it really hard to believe that someone who is supposedly a father would go on and on about his mom, sister, and especially his niece all while saying nothing about his own kid. To me it seems like it would be better to not talk at all about family if you're not going to talk about your own child. At least if Jake was not talking about family (and not being papped with his niece), he could say with a straight face that he never talked about his personal life, and that's why he never talked about his child.

I just don't see anything when Jake talks about his family that makes me think he uncomfortable. I was thinking about that again last night as I was reading through some old thread on ONTD on Matt Bomer that I hadn't gotten through, and saw that someone else had also noticed how uncomfortable he looked when Tim DeKay was talking about his own kids and saying hi to them on the Today Show in early March. And this was a post from before he did talk about his kids, and the poster said he couldn't imagine Matt could stay in the closet much longer with kids.

I also think that if you're truly bothered by it, like Matt you would do something about it and talk about your kids. And Matt was at least going out and doing things in public with his kids, even if he wasn't talking about them. Looking around there are also more pictures of Matt with his oldest kid out there too.

  12. The color of Jake's suit really pops in this picture of him on the red carpet.

    Star Tracks

Interesting combination of the blue and the grey.
(The explanation for a the Abe Lincoln talk? ; ) )

He's under the influence about those knitted ties although his are a bit wider that Mr. Nichols.

Speaking of Lincoln haven't heard much about the project Austin was working on with guys at Southern Gothic, called Pedestrian. Wonder what's up with that.

On the brow beat, looks like Jake got them all shaped up.

  14. Have to admit that I just LOVE seeing Jake and Ben Lyons interact once again.

For a minute there I thought I heard Ben ask Jake ..." so are you playing a top in your next movie?" LOL.

I know Jake is spoken for and have no idea about Mr. Ben, but with these two there is a playfulness and sexy little undercurrent and all of a sudden I'm hearing a pinging in my ears...

Am I all alone on this ? ...

    ReplyDelete
  15. But Jake isn't going to come out of the closet, Destiny, that's just it.

So he is not going to talk about the kids.

There is no way he is going to talk about BT on Conan, Letterman, Ellen, Kimmel, Fallon, Oprah, Greta Van Cistern, Ben Lyons, Time magazine, etc. He never mentions friends by name either. They're all termed a generic "friend".

But I find it extreme that all he ever talks about is the Big 4. No, he doesn't act uncomfortable at all. But he mentions them incessantly, particularly his niece with whom we never see him with, save for the Phillips b-day party.

And maybe it's just me. But I find it very curious that a very hot & sexy, single 30 year old man's life stories revolve around this small circle of his sister, bro in law, niece and mother.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Heck, every other man in HW is gay it seems. Probably Ben Lyons is, too.

  17. Flashing his signature grin, Gyllenhaal played it up for the cameras with costar Michelle Monaghan, putting his arms and hands tight around her waist. But was he able to get his flirt on at the after-party with any available ladies?

Nope, seems like the bachelor is all business right now.

At the after-party at Boulevard 3 in Hollywood, insiders tell Celebuzz Jake held court at a middle table inside and was seen talking with mostly studio types. A few other celebs in attendance at the bash aside from Jake’s Source Code costars included Mark Sanchez and Shameless star Cameron Monaghan.

“Jake was so nice, he talked to everybody who came up to him telling him congratulations,” the partygoer tells us. “He was overheard saying he was really proud of this film in particular and was excited that it was being well received so far.”

  18. Mark Sanchez? Hmmm.

Agree Seaweed about Jake and Lyons.

I do think Jake spends a lot of time with his family, and that is why he is always talking about them. I also think he and his handlers think it is a "safe" topic for Jake.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I guess that's what I'm trying to get at, Destiny, is that they are a "safe" topic and I'm not getting my point across very well.

Oh, I definitely think he spends a lot if not most of his time with his family. And I'm not dissing that for the most part. I think anyone who has strong family bonds - that's an incredible thing.

What I find disappointing is that the people who I think he really is referring to as the special ones around the table and the ones who he knows will be there long after his career is over, are the ones he is not allowed to talk about, who he chooses not to reveal, who he hides.

That is why I have been on this little tirade today.

When I read about that concert blurb someone was so nice enough to share last night, it drives me nuts that those stories are being buried. Jake's people are burying all of that.

And we have to settle for second best, which is Jake and Ben Lyons flirting with each other.

I'm a minority. I'm an old-timer, hung up on something that is antique, long forgotten and moth-ridden.

    **sigh**.

I really need to get PhotoShop. I'll make an avatar of Ben Lyons & Jake that'll knock socks out. Ben Lyons does look an awful lot like Austin; maybe that's why they make such a great couple, huh? Ben rocks that All-American boy look, too.

    ReplyDelete
  20. lol. socks out = socks off

Ahhh, there we go. There's Mr. Lyons. Yeah, I can see why Jake would be enamored. He reminds one a alot of Austin.

hmmmmmmm....He and Jake would make a great couple, wouldn't they?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Looks like Ben Lyons? You mean in the way that is not at all? Ben Lyons and Corey Monteith from Glee resemble each other a great deal.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't mean that they look exactly alike, but they both have that All-American boy look. They're both dark haired. Fresh faced. Both very good looking.

Corey Monteith - that's another looker. He's got that high school quarterback look.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah, I am going to have to get me some PhotoShop so I can play with avatars.

    A Gyllenlyon and a Buckin.

Well, tomorrow I am going back to see my ortho doctor. I'm not happy with the progress/recovery of my broken leg. When I started to try to walk again, I hurt worse now than when I got my brace off. My toes hurt, the top of my foot hurts, my arch hurts, everything hurts and I'm back on the pain meds. I am most unhappy and started wearing my brace again today. Very sad. But it felt better immediately. Our safety coordinator today told me it took her FIVE whole years to fully recover from her broken leg.

    Great.

  24. Whew! A busy, busy day. I just logged on and noticed it was Stubborn's B-day. Happy birthday, fellow OMGer. Hope all is well with you.

I'm going to try to get on again tonight to give my impressions of Jake's recent interview, but I love PG's sport's metaphor when it comes to Jake's shifting PR plan. I think he and his group do huddle together and then it's his job to execute the play that has been called. Unfortunately, I don't think he's very good at audibilizing at the line of scrimmage.

  25. Happy Birthday Stubborn. Many more.

  27. PG, I'm sorry to hear your foot and leg are still bothering you, I guess I had thought you were well on your way to a recovery. Hopefully your Ortho can take another look and provide you with some positive direction.

Happy Birthday from this neck of the woods also Stubborn.

  28. I have to agree with Destiny that the Conan interview with Jake fell flat for me too. Given that he was attending the LA Premiere for Source Code immediately after the show, I understandably thought he might be far more eager, energized and engaging. Instead, he almost seemed like he was trying to be entertaining, but just couldn’t muster up the resolve or the motivation. The whole beard discussion was frankly just weird, awkward and certainly pointless. Almost like the obligatory mention of Maggie and Ramona. Déjà vu doesn’t quite capture my feelings toward Jake’s repetitive fixation on certain topics. More like, “Not this again.” So, by the end of the banal banter, we have learned that there are all kinds of beards, some are legitimate, some are ginger, some are depression, and we need to understand that bearded people are part of a community. Manly men (Sea Captain imitation) who share a special relationship and admiration for one another. Okaaaay. Yo Ho Ho And A Bottle Of Rum. I guess.

I did think, however, that Conan was at the top of his game when Jake said, "When you don't shave your face, and you're sometimes a man, a beard grows. There are all different people in the world." Without missing a beat, Conan laughs and says, “I’m learning so much. We have more to learn” Then Andy interrupts and cleverly chimes in with “That’s a great PSA: There’s all different kinds of people in the world…Jake Gyllenhaal”

Conan coyly adds, "The More You Know (referring to the Emmy winning PSA series)… Ah, forget that one.” The inference being that everyone might as well give up on learning/knowing more about Jake Gyllenhaal.

Otherwise, the rest of the interview was pretty much mechanical. Jake simply going through the motions, marketing his new film. Sometimes he was charming, but mostly he was just plain old pedestrian.

  29. Happy birthday Stubborn.

I have an early AM conference call tomorrow so don't ask me why I'm here instead of in bed. I cant resist.

There is definitely chemistry and history between Jake and Ben. What I notice is that Jake can't help but be himself with Ben. Jake has said that if he likes someone he lets them see the real Jake right away. You can't turn that off once the relationship has been established. There is a bond between them. A level of trust not seen with other interviewers. I've watched Jake through about 5 movie campaigns now and his staff keeps his questions and responses limited to a very narrow range. But Ben has permission to go off the grid with Jake. And Jake is relaxed around him, defenses down. That kind of trust does not happen without a reason.

Someone on ONTD posted some pics of Jake and his director during bubble boy. Jake looks very gay in the pictures and the director has his hand on his butt. I find the timing odd being right before SC opens, but maybe that is what generated the interest in Jake. Still, its very odd that these pictures surfaced after so long.

    ReplyDelete
  30. "Jake looks very gay"

What does looking very gay include - besides dumb stereotyping?

Did he have his t shirt sleeves rolled up - like you have previously stated 'looks gay'?

It's a bit like people who say all Asians look the same.

    ReplyDelete
  31. After watching so many interviews with Jake over the years, you can see how he connects with certain interviewers.

Ben is one of the few of the major media people who is Jake's age. It seems like that with Ben and he knows he can drop hints or slip things into the interviews. And Ben is not going to go after it, it's a softball kind of interview.

Ben was picked to take over one of the seats at "At the Movies" which was short lived. He has seen integrity as a film critic go out the window being criticized for his lack understanding about movies and film history, overuse of positive comments that seemed "tailored for use on movie ads" and conflicts of interest of him posing for photos with actors who he would later review. He's a entertainment reporter more than critic.

Jake is naturally a flirt and it comes out with but I don't think Austin has anything to worry about at all.
