Signs point to yes

UPDATE 5:28 EST : Twitvid of Jake and Michelle at SXSW by Carlos Urreta

Jake's in Austin and getting ready for tonight's premiere at the Paramount Theater (7:00pm CST). Jake will be joining Michelle, Vera, Duncan and writer Ben Ripley on the red carpet. The premiere kicks off SXSW's 25th year anniversary.

IFC will be streaming live from SXSW
- check it all out here.

UPDATE:
Film Interview: Director and Cast of "Source Code"
Vera Farmiga, Writer Ben Ripley and Director Duncan Jones

Streaming live at 4:00 PM C/5:00 PM ET

There's a new feaurette with SC's writer, producers, cast and crew AND theoretical physicist Dr. Michio Kaku, who explains the phenomenon of Source Code in terms of physics. Some advice via Firstshowing.net "This video is pretty much straightforward explanation as to the plot and dynamics, so if you don't want any of it ruined, stay away. Otherwise - enjoy!"

While in Austin Jake might be seeing some of these Austin signs.

And this one too.
And seeing Austin in Austin too?

Whaaaaaat?

Is Austin saying he's in Austin? Well as the Magic 8 ball says:

What sign ? Remember comments about Austin non sequitur tweets actually saying more than what the tweet appears?

It seems like Austin has done a repeat tweet.

Back on September 30th he tweeted :
Do you like Phil Collins? "Sussudio" is a personal favorite. -Patrick Bateman

and well yesterday he posted the same thing
Do you like Phil Collins? Sussudio is a personal favorite.
about 13 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

While it is a great line from American Psycho, don't think he tweeted it twice because he's channeling Patrick Bateman, has a thing for Phil Collins or Sussudio is his go-to song for karaoke.

No the chessmaster is much smarter and sneakier than that.

Where was Austin when he tweeted it the first time in September?
He was in Austin TX.

Where is he when he tweeted it again?
All signs point to Austin TX.

Why would he be in Austin? Hmmmm....

As the Romper Room Magic Mirror would say.

"Romper, bomper, stomper, boo.
Tell me, tell me, tell me do.
Magic mirror, tell me today.
Did all my friends have fun at play?"
I see Jake and Austin in Austin today .

Maybe something subtle for the next trailer?

Happy Austin Friday.

So, Special, what you're saying is, if we see no evidence, either tweets or pics, of Austin in Austin, that means he's there? Okay LOL

    ReplyDelete
  6. Oh Jack ignoring the point again.

Austin made this tweet the first time when he was in Austin.

Why in the world would he repeat tweet it 5 months later out of the blue?

Because it's one way to say where he is without saying it - in Austin.

  12. Hmmmm. Austin tweeted about Collins on 9/30 at 7:AM. His previous tweet was on 9/29 and it was about being at some b-day party and joked about being on the commode while they were singing happy b'day.

On 10/1 he tweeted that he was on his way to TX, he wasn't in TX when he tweeted about Collins, he did the next day and he didn't indicate he was in TX on 9/30 but mist likely still in NC and most likely recovering from some party.

You would think that if he wanted to give you a shout out, it would be something related to his actual time there in October.

Maybe he is in his way there like tomorrow since he is filming in NC today.

Maye he is reading American Pyscho again, LOL!!!!

  14. Sorry, but I've got to do this. 'Scuse me while I whip this out.

PICTURES! I need pictures. Sorry. And with a camera date stamp.

I need more than a statement by a newbie who only has 28 comments to their name.

There has been absolutely squat on Austin all week. Squat.

And suddenly today we get a mention by a newbie and a comment by Buggar re: yesterday's filming, a comment that didn't come until this afternoon. Buggar who I believe is in on the fold. I would never trust her anyway.

Sorry - not good enough. You knew this was coming. Let the discounting begin!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I will correct one statement. There has been squat for any sign of Austin since Monday when Austin himself tweeted that they were reshooting a couple of scenes.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Not going to buy a post by a newbie either PG. The last time I saw one by a newbie (and don't know if it is the same person) was someone claiming they saw a tweet of Austin at the airport, but they never did provide a link despite requests from other people on the board.

Some of the diehard fans seem to think Sophia would probably have today off, and that it would just be Shantel and another actress filming today.

Regardless, even if Austin was filming, today is apparently the LAST DAY of shooting in Wilmington for OTH this season.

  20. It's too obvious. There have been girls down there all week; they're like desperate because this could be the last of it. They've been chasing these actors all over that town all week.

There have been sightings of actors filming but they have not been able to get real close. I've seen several actors mentioned, including Sophia.

But NO Austin. Absolutely not one.

And this newbie, she pops on there one time and just gives this run-off of who is filming. No other details like others provide like who waved, what they were doing, etc. Not to mention no pictures.

Where they messed up was by not mentioning Austin either yesterday, Wednesday or Tuesday. Had they done that, it would have lent more credence to the false comment today.

Too late now, the bed's already made.

  46. I definitely agree about the Sussudio tweet from March 10, Special. Mr. Nichols is signaling that he'll be in Austin soon (March 11), just like he arrived in Austin on October 1 after that September 30th tweet. I also don't think it is a coincidence that Jake was observed heading for Austin on March 10 as well. The repetition Destiny points to additionally underscores just how clever this clue is. We all know that the main theme of Source Code is about the repetition of human events. Another connection is how the film is primarily about putting together the pieces of a puzzle to solve the mystery of what is happening.

I also think Austin may have been suggesting that he was in the Gulf of Mexico on March 10 (on his way to Austin) with all his BP and oil spill references.

  49. There is a little more written about the incident with Jake and the bathroom.

Hollywoodnews.com: The world premiere of Duncan Jones’ “Source Code,” which kicked off this years’ South By Southwest film portion on Friday night, is being overshadowed by a strange story involving Jake Gyllenhaal, a camera, and a men’s room.

Twitter exploded with accounts of a scuffle between Gyllenhaal, who plays a soldier in Jones’ sci-fi thriller, and a guy who tried to take his photograph … er, mid-stream.

“Gyllenhaal apparently grabbed the dude mid-photo, threw him against the wall and was like, ‘are we really gonna do this right now?’” Tweeted Cinematical’s Erik Davis.

And JoBlo, who reportedly was in the men’s room when the “fight” occurred, updated, “Guy just tried to take Jake Gyllenhaal’s picture while he was taking a leak. Cops came. Brouhaha ensued.”

  51. Well, I say good for Jake. Good grief, people are ridiculous. Guy can't even get any privacy going to the bathroom.

It's too bad someone has to ruin it like that. I was just going to say this morning that it was awesome to see Jake mingling amongst "the people" like he was. But stuff like that bathroom incident will put a halt to that.

And now you see why he has a bodyguard, I guess. I would, too. If it takes a bodyguard standing outside so I could at least go to the bathroom for a few minutes, that's what it takes. Sorry, folks.

Wow, absolutely GORGEOUS weather this morning. Just awesome. Got the windows open, laundry going, cleaning up, doing some computer stuff that has been sitting around for ages. Listening to some generic Sax by Candlelight cd that I must have bought for real cheap to see if I want it or sell it in a garage sale.

  57. I'm a little suspicious about that bathroom brouhaha. Mostly because part of the post plugs Jake playing a soldier in Source Code. In other words, conflating the indident with his macho role as Captain Colter Stevens. Notice how a strong element of the Hollywoodnews.com blurb has a PR element to it. "And, Jake "apparently" grabbed the dude mid-photo, and threw him against the wall." Which means the person who is relaying the story did not see what happened themselves.

This is the kind of story that helps sell the masculine Jake Gyllenhaal image he so desperately wants. PG, you mentioned the bodyguard, but the bodyguard was there. So why wasn't he doing his job. After all, it was a big brouhaha.

    SUCKERRRRRRRRR!!!!

    I'm such a target audience, aren't I?
    **sigh**.

Makes perfect sense. And my question would be where is a camera phone pic? We had so many twitpics last night - I saw them! People had their camera phones at the ready.

So if this was indeed such a big brouhaha, you mean no one got a picture of the aftermath? Or what about the guy who had his picture deleted? Where's his account of what happened?

I'm not going to go on & on about this one - it's not on a level with the 911 call with ol' Tay. I want Jake's movie to do well and I'm elated that he looked so happy last night.

If this story was a PR plant, though, I just think it's a shame that his people feel a need to put a "tough guy" story out there to sell their client's movie. It sounds like the movie can sell itself.

And Jake can sell himself with no assistance from story plants. His people, of all people should know that. And have the faith in their client.

I totally agree, PG. I think his people do not seem to have confidence in their own client's natural gifts and abilities. Jake is a very talented and charismatic guy. He looked like he had a successful permiere. I wish him the best.

    ReplyDelete
  63. There, no doubt, was a scuffle, but once PR got their grimy little hands on it, suddenly they saw a promotional opportunity to ship Jake as a rough and tumble man who isn't going to standby and be exploited. But, what Hollywoodnews.con is suggesting is that Jake actually physically assaulted that guy. There's no way Jake would risk the possibility of being sued. He's a verbal guy and with the bodyguard nearby, I'm sure he didn't have to do a thing physically.

And, I urge you to read more carefully. I'm suggesting that PR jumped on the bandwagon, like a lot of other folks, and saw an opportunity to embellish the story too. It's possible some rogue blogger made up the physical assault, but what's suspicious is how they added the promotional info on the movie. How convenient. Don't need to do research to figure out that Jake as a macho "I'm not going to take anybody's crap" man is a perfect subtext for selling this movie. In the same way that Tay Tay was there to help sell Jake "I'm such a player" Gyllenhaal for Love and Other Drugs.

Firstly, nobody "blogged" about it. All communicated through twitter. JoBlo, noted movie reviewer and website was the first to mention it and only stated that a brouhaha ensued. What he told other people offline might be different and may have contributed to the flurry of "bad ass Jake" tweets that followed. All of which, it should be noted, came from other noted online film critics. Your need to involve PR in some sort of conspiracy is really OTT.

  81. Thanks, musiclover. I was wondering if that was the case - it didn't sound like you at all.

LOLLLL! m!!!! Where in the heck have you been?! You've missed out on everything!

Work can be a drag, can't it? Especially when you can't sneak off a few minutes to check up on stuff, if you know what I mean.

  82. Jake looks better than he has in years. And I mean not only physically, but the fact that he actually looks genuinely happy for a change. He didn't shine like this for POP or LAOD.

Strange about the bathroom incident, can't believe someone thought they'd actually get away with doing that.

  83. I don't go to OTH forums very often, but was curious to see if there were any more discussions of who was seen filming on Friday.

Lots of posts from fans who saw Joy. One person mentioned meetingJoy, Rob, Sophia and Shantel.

Someone put up a link to all the pictures they took of filming at the cafe.

Other than the newbie post--nary a photo or mention of Austin.

  84. Thanks Spesh, for deleting! I'll have to get myself an actual blogger name. :)

I saw that one, too, Dest. Quite a few pictures. And I saw Austin (and actually nor Sophia either) in none of them.

Ahhhh, nothing like a wonderful Saturday afternoon siesta. Feel great! Except for the coverlet pattern imprints on the side of my face, I look refreshed as well!!

    LOL
