Actor, Director, Producer?

First things first ......

Congratulations Austin
On the great job you did on
your directorial debut
.....

Has Jake found his new partner?

Variety is reporting that Michael Pena is in talks to play Jake's partner in End of Watch.

Pena might be best known for his role in Crash, but has had a career that's spanned both comedy and drama. Pena has had some experience with law enforcement from his role as a detective on The Shield, a border patrol officer in Babel, a NYPD officer in Oliver Stone's World Trade Center, and even mall cop in Observe and Report.

Something many might not know, Maggie played his wife in WTC.

Pena would play LAPD officer Mikes Zavala, partner of officer Dan Taylor (Jake). End of Watch is the story of good friends and partners and who are driven to clean up the street of South Central and who put more than their own lives at risk.

Couple of things that might have been overlooked about End of Watch.

It has a very small budget ($ 5 million) and a short shooting schedule (5 weeks) which makes it sound like it will be a small picture but maybe not. Looking at it further - the movie is set to have a documentary style look about it. It's another creative avenue for Jake.

The small indie feel to the project does lead to speculating about Jake doing more than just act. Maybe like take on a possible producer credit?

....

What the Jake?

What is a picture of Jake and Boo doing at the Nashi headquarters in Moscow? (Global Post)

  1. I saw a picture of a Chicago dog on TV PG. I definetely need to try one.

I agree as much as I love baseball. I won't go to a game till May. Too darn cold.

  3. I am really curious to see if Jake does end up a producer on End of Watch. In on of the interviews he did for Source Code he talked about getting ready for EoW and alluded to it being the toughest thing he's ever done. Now it makes me wonder if he was talking about the actual part or not.

  4. This dog had tomatoes, pickles, relish, mustard and celery salt. It was stuffed and it was as good as dogs I had when up in Illinois. It was just awesome.

I don't know, Special. I think Dest is right. It should not be 45 degrees and you can see your breath! People in blankets. One of the members of our party brought handwarmers for everyone and those little things I used for Chiefs games, but never for baseball! LOL.

I heard they ended up winning the game. We all had a great time; the T-shirt was the best. The T-shirt and the eats and we were all voting to go after 5 innings with Handwarmer Guy being the only one who wanted to stay. lol.

  5. At my work, they started a rec softball league and so far, two people in my department have injured themselves. lol. My big buddy is one of them. He turned his ankle in a divot in the ground and has been limping around. I told him today he better go to the doctor because it was turning red. So he's going to my doctor's office tomorrow and I'll be curious to see what is going on. Seeing him limp around sure brings back the memories!

Someone New was just on Oxygen. I love that movie - it's so romantic. Simon Baker & Senaa Lathan had such good chemistry.

  6. Chilly Baseball. It's New England, them's the risks.

I've sat my share of chilly spring games but there can't be anything better than a cold crisp playoff game in October. And it can't ever be too cold or too long if it's Sox/Yankees.

Hey that's what they have hot chocolate and clam chowder are for, but wouldn't suggest having them together in the same inning.

  7. I almost got cheesy corn, Special. They have a barbeque stand and it has cheesy corn. I thought that sounded nice & hot but opted for the nachos instead.

Besides the kiss cam, they had the Oblivious Cam. They cam people who are....what else? Oblivious! Until their neighbor pokes them and tells them they're on the big screen scoreboard. LOL.

  8. I have to say again, I was really impressed how Austin directed the scene where Brulian find out they won't be getting the baby. For his first time directing, he showed so much restraint. Many would direct the moment and go for a heavy handed reaction, but he chose to let the emotion come over them quietly as their hearts broke, and it was much more realistic.

  9. I saved OTH and plan to watch it one more time, probably this weekend. I was impressed and hope Austin gets to do some more directing. If they renew the show he could direct a few episodes even if he is no longer acting in it. He needs some experience to get other jobs.

On a sad note, I just read that one of the directors of Restrepo was killed in Libya. So sad. That was such a good film. He put himself in harms way as part of his work and the worst happened. I dont know if he was married and had kids but its such a shame.

We ordered ipads but of course its taking forever for them to come due to demand. My husband's arrived today (he got black, I chose white which is taking longer). I loaded all my favorite websites on his to get started with. Its great. Really easy to use and great picture quality.

  11. Aw, Seaweed!! Wish I had been up.
    :(

You're probably sound asleep now. Have a great day, buddy!

  12. I know how that is, Seaweed. I had a very hard time going to sleep last night.

Adam Lambert is on twitter! I didn't know that, I'm going to have to follow him.

He has a moustache/beard right now; not really a fan of it. He seems to mix his look up a lot though so hopefully it doesn't stick around for long, lol.

His song Aftermath is on my playlist right now, being played over...and over...and over...and over.

And what is Boo doing in Moscow? lol. Aw, little Boo.

Check out @amykuney music video for #GasolineRainbows. And then go buy the album on iTunes. All the proceeds go to clean up the Gulf.

  14. Don't like the moustache/beard on Adam either. I just read that he just passed the million follower mark on Twitter. I love Aftermath, and What'ya Want From Me. Looking forward to more ballads on his next effort.

I was really sad to read about the director of Restrepo, as well as a photographer. People like that do such a great service by covering wars at such tremendous risk to themselves.

Probably won't get to OTH until after my mother-in-law leaves on Monday.
