From Fights to Fitzgerald
After a brief break, Austin is back and tweeting.
"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." -F. Scott Fitzgerald - AUS10
Now why would he be tweeting the last line of The Great Gatsby?
Did he go see the movie tonight.
Or did he just finish listening to his own personal narrator.
Another connection to Jake? Especially at the moment.
Is there something more specific about the quote ?
Well jumping back to high school American Lit, the quote is about the struggle of people trying to achieve their goals by both transcending and re-creating their past but they prove unable to move beyond it. In Fitzgerald's metaphor, the current draws them backward as they row forward.
Now what's in the past that draws them back?
Jake's co-star from End of Watch is starting the Indy 500.
ReplyDeleteFilm and television star Michael Pena, who has a leading role in the upcoming 3D animated motion picture event "Turbo," will serve as the honorary starter of the 97th Indianapolis 500 on May 26.
Pena will wave the green flag to start the field of 33 drivers in "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing." The 97th Indianapolis 500 starts at noon (ET) and will be televised live on ABC.
