Bits and pieces

Jake's checking out the theater scene on both coasts in the past month. New York isn't the only place Jake goes, last night he caught the play "Extraordinary Chambers" at the Geffen Playhouse.

As the Khmer Rouge once again attract international attention, this world premiere play gets to the heart of the headlineWhen Carter, an American telecom executive, brings his wife Mara on a business trip to Cambodia, he never imagines that the ghosts of this beautiful country will find a way to haunt their lives. As business deals unravel and personal negotiations brim with political consequences, Carter and Mara must decide if the salvation of one life is worth sacrificing the justice of many.

For such a social guy like Jake it seems like he wouldn't go to a play by himself, especially back in his hometown. Wonder who joined him last night?

Source Code had a unconventional plot line, and it's still redefining convention. After making $110 million worldwide the next stop is the home market and that must be the BluRay/DVD release July 26 or is it? Source Code is stepping out of the box and will it be available on Video-on-Demand two weeks ahead of the DVD and Blu-ray. It will be available through VOD starting Friday, July 8, 2011. Think it will cut down on DVD/BluRay sales or is it catching the new trend of movie consumerism before most even acknowledge it.

Where U at?
Not a bad spot to chill - AUS10

Where is it?

Chillin' there now or just pointing out somewhere he wants be?

It might not be too far from home, but a million miles away from everything. Just a place to be and be with those you want to be with.

Can't stay too long because Austin's got some grand marshaling to do, a pistol to shoot, and oh yeah, a bike to ride Sunday.

  3. Dear Ted:
Just wondering about your thoughts on the Vicers. Who is (1) your favorite B.V., (2) your least favorite B.V. and (3) the B.V. that shocked you the most.

    Dear Sophie's Choice:
That's like pickin' which of my pups I like best, E! But I'll give it a shot: Toothy is my fave, duh. I am always happy to dig up dirt on that delicious dude. My least favorite (these days) is probably Judas Jack-Off, just 'cause he's so damn boring lately and yet everyone is bitchin' about him. As for shocking, well, the sad story of Sally Pearlsmyth was...unexpected.

  4. Interesting tweet from Austin, especially after looking at the photo of Jake coming out of the theater, with people kind of in a line.

Jake's not the only one suing over photos he doesn't like going around the internet. One of the stars of MTV's new werewolf series has photos of himself making out with men that apparently ran in a magazine for young gay men, and they're trying to stop sites from running them on the grounds they are supposedly pornographic and private. 5. Austin's picture looks like it's up the coast north of LA.

And his quote "Sand people always travel single file to hide their numbers." sounds like he's not alone. ; )

Great catch Destiny! I didn't think of that.

  7. Well, re-entry was brutal today. I went in kickin' and screamin' all the way. What a terrible jolt back to reality. It's usually not so bad but I had people waiting on me to order wrenches and whatnot, we're out of this, out of that, someone had sat in my chair, lowered it and I was practically sitting on the floor and couldn't raise it back up. Luckily, my super got that fixed.

Nothing like a PG fit first thing in the morning over my chair! LOL!!

    Sausalito, take me away!!!!!

    **sigh**.

You know, looking at that picture of Austin's, I can certainly understand now why people love the ocean so much. Living here in Kansas, all we have are lakes and I've always loved the Lake of the Ozarks. There's nothing so relaxing than being near the water.

But now having been to Boston and now to the coast of California, wow. How wonderful would it be to have an ocean so close by? And that room where M&M and I stayed, I mean we were literally right up against the ocean. You could open the window and hear the waves lapping up against the dock down there. What a great sound.

'Course, then you have the hurricanes. So I don't know.

    lol

  9. LOL!! Boy, when another guy says something about the excess scruff, that's kinda bad. For this tweet, I had to bring out the MTD Ride-On LC 125. You know it's getting out of control when you gotta bring out the ol' LC 125.

Those enchiladas are wicked good. I hope I'm not to forward to think that I can get some more on one of my next visits.

  11. No, you would not be too forward!!! Special can vouch for my mom's enchiladas.

Hey, you know I'm looking at all the information on this big race that Austin is going to be the Grand Poobah Marshal of and I thought maybe I'd see about just registering so I could get a shirt but they've closed the registration.

Now, that guy has peddled electronics, dvd's, and who knows what else, heck maybe even a pair of his old socks, on his Twitter and I could've cared less about a set of headphones. But now I would have bid on one of those shirts. Although it looks like they're bike jerseys and not race T-shirts.

    I wonder why they didn't make a race T-shirt. I would've paid $$ for one of those - I love that logo.

That is one gorgeous bike jersey.

  12. I gotta take a dig at ol' M&M's Sunshine State for a minute.

Is it a California thing that they don't include a race T shirt with a registration? Because here in Kansas/Missouri they do!!!

I threw a snit at the gas pump while in M&M's town because they wanted to charge me .45 to use my debit card.

Say WHAT???!! You want to charge me .45 so I can pay for my gas??? I'm afraid I kind of embarrassed M&M because I went on a mini rant and she said the ol' man at the next pump was kind of staring at me.

LOLLLL!! Well, I mean really. We do not charge here to use our debit cards. What is that about?

Needless to say, they did not get their ol' .45 cents from me. We paid cash!!

So I guess I won't be surprised that race registration for the LA River Ride does not include a T shirt.

  13. Jake Gyllenhaal at Graduation? said...
If you were at this years’ graduation, and sitting on the Eastern side of Old Campus, you may have noticed a particularly scruffy man sitting near you. He was wearing aviators and he looked like a harrier, more masculine version of Maggie Gyllenhaal (see picture below).

Yup, that was Jake Gyllenhaal, in town to see his cousin (some say niece?), Rachel Achs BR’11, as she graduated from Yale College. Even better: along with Jake was his brother-in-law Peter Sarsgaard, and Sarsgaard’s four-year-old daughter Ramona. Rumpus was one of the lucky Gyllenheeks who got to stare at them while they casually talked to Rachel for a good twenty minutes after graduation ended. Not since Isabella Huffington moved out of her dorm room a month ago has Rumpus experienced such a lucrative Old Campus celebrity sighting.

But the presence of two such sexy Hollywood stars begs the question: if there were so many well-connected graduates in the class of 2011, then why didn’t Jake Gyllenhaal give the Class Day Speech instead of Tom Hanks? Instead of discussing Tom’s chosen themes–poverty, technological innovation, and a lot of other topics we couldn’t really follow–Jake would have talked about fun things. Like how he’s the only guy who dumped Taylor Swift and got away with it (she says that she and Jake remain “good friends”). Or how his abs singlehandedly grossed $542,771,772 for “The Day After Tomorrow.” Those are themes that Rumpus finds interesting.

But it turns out that Mr. Hanks may have an excuse for his sub-par Class Day Speech. How do we know this? Well, Rumpus picked up a newspaper for the first time in over a year and it happened to be the London Times. Luckily there was an article on page 2 that told us who was invited to the May 24 state banquet welcoming the Obamas to Buckingham Palace, an event that fell one day after graduation. Included on that guest list–along with the Mayor of London, Hillary Rodham Clinton, David Cameron, and the Chief of M16–was Tom Hanks. Rumpus has a personal theory that Hanks was so excited to meet Michelle Obama that he raced though his Class Day Speech in order to get to England sooner, resulting in sage words of advice like the following:

“Take this [Class Day Speech] and set it to music, and maybe insert some crazy kooky graphics, star in that video yourself, then post it on the web. And if it becomes a viral sensation, you’ll be equal to any cat playing with a paper bag.”

These have to be the wisest words any Class Day Speaker has ever spoken.

  14. Happy National Doughnut Day for those in the US.

    How are you celebrating?

    Two ways you could:

Kripsy Kreme is giving away a free donut to each person.

Dunkie's will give you a free donut with purchase of a drink.

  15. Caught! Jake Gyllenhaal's Bromantic Movie Date

Jake Gyllenhaal is single and ripe to mingle...

    So why isn't he?!

Instead of prowling the clubs for blonde publicity—er, we mean totally romantic—relationships, Jakey G. has been laying low.

So who did we catch the single stud doing dinner and a movie with?

An "older gentleman" and Adam Levine!

    Wah wah. Let us explain...

Gyllenhaal was spotted Tuesday night catching a flick at Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood with his old pal from grade school days, Adam Levine.

But before the two L.A. natives met up for their bromantic movie date, Jake indulged in soft-shell crab, garlic fries, and a Fat Tire amber ale at Westwood's Napa Valley Grille.

"Jake was dining with an older gentleman, it looked like an agent or manager, and it seemed like an intense conversation during their meal," a restaurant source dishes. "He looked very rugged, handsome and was wearing a denim blue shirt, blue jeans, boots and had a buzzed haircut teamed with a sexy scruffy beard."

Mmhmm, just how we like him!

  16. Extraordinary Chambers sounds really good.

I had a free donut and coffee to celebrate today too, at Dunkie's. We don't have Krispy Kreme's out our way, so I always wondered what the fuss was about. Well, I found out the first time I had one right off the presses - they are to die for. A sometime, once-in-awhile treat. :)

    I love enchiladas too. :)

  17. First Perez and Ted now are saying that Jake went to the Arclight with Adam on Tuesday, even though there are pictures and tweets from Sat night.

So here's the question did they go twice?

Or is there an intentional tweaking of the dates because of who else was with Jake on Saturday night?

And the older man? Comments at Ted say that there were fb and tweets saying that was Jake's dad.

    ReplyDelete
  18. All tweets of Jake and Adam at the Arclight are from Saturday, not Tuesday. Perez got the info wrong/late as per usual. Ted got this from perez, the Bromance tittle of his post is the same as Perez's.

The source were tweets from Saturday, both Ted and Perez used the tweets for their posts but didn't bother to reveal the original source.

Embellishing them doesn't make them original.

There is no tweeking of the dates, just 2 lazy bloggers who are too dumb or don't care that everyone saw the tweets that are Jake fans saw them on Sat.

  19. Krispy Kremes are best right off of the production line belt. So are Lamar's.

We're just starting to get Dunkin Donuts back into the market here but we have KK's. I'm a Daylight fan, myself.

  21. I like Dunkin', not a fan of Krispy donuts, too sweet for me. I especially love maple frosted, hard to find in NY for some reason. Many of the grocery stores out West have the maple frosted that they make themselves, and those are really good too.

But trying to avoid junk food right now, so no donuts for me today. :-(

  22. Sounds like Ted is just picking up on what he has read elsewhere with his latest. But the point of it is not news, anyway, so that doesn't matter. He's just making a point about the lack of blonde women in the picture.
