Well Jake's been on MTV -- a lot

a presenteror a recipient.
Getting the Best Performance Award at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards of course capturing the Best Kiss Award with Heath for BBM.

Check out the video of Jake getting best performance and see who he beat out.

Austin? It's the Crazy Tree connections.

Friend, co-star and fellow Southern Gothic Hilary Burton got her start on MTV.And the big man producer/ director Joe Davola?Well you wouldn't have MTV without some Joe. Why?

Davola began his career by aiding the creation and development of the MTV. He spent seven years there, where he rose to executive producer and head of development. While there,he helped mold the network's direction by producing long form and special live events, including The 1988 Video Music Awards, and created and produced their first original program, Remote Control.Joe was also responsible for these other MTV shows: Singled Out, Road Rules, The Jon Stewart Show, House of Style, The Real World and MTV Sports.

And don't know Austin some out there have suggested you could have a claim to some of that MTV money. You might want to talk to your fellow Austinite Mike Judge about that.

What were your favorite videos?

  3. As you can tell I had to play some Billy for the occasion.

And I think Martha Quinn has made a deal with the devil. She barely has aged a day.

  5. The part that you are lying about is that I disclosed this information.

    Bye bye

  6. 30 years, wow that makes me feel old.

I loved anything by Madonna, the early U2 videos, Duran Duran for starters.

  7. I saw a clip from Live Aid today and Bono was rocking the mullet. Ohhh...no!!!

  8. The Smurf movie with NPH did pretty well this weekend, barely lost first place to the Cowboys and Aliens movie with super-straight he-men stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. Made about $38 million. Smurfs was considered a good surprise, Aliens a disappointment.

But hey, you know, no one goes to see movies with gay stars.

  9. That mullet is baaaad, and I don't mean fierce. :-D

  10. The very best part of Live Aid in Philly for me was Mick and Tina. They were awesome.

When nice and smart people like NPH come out the world becomes less afraid. Gay people are just like everyone else. I am so glad Neil's career is doing so well.

  11. What a great post - MTV brought our music visions to life. Too many videos to count that I have loved and enjoyed over the years, but some right off the top of my head - I loved the Pretenders' videos (Chrissie Hynde as a beehived waitress), The Motels, Madonna always had beautiful ones, and Duran Duran also - I love the one with the model walking around with the lampshade-type hat - seriously, I thought that one was beautiful.

  14. Aw, but why oh why did they have to shave his head.........

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well, at least he doesn't look like Matt Damon. Matt Damon is not attractive looking at all with a shaved head. At least Jake still has his great facial features.

Loved Martha Quinn!! I liked Alan Hunter and Nina Black, too. I can't believe Martha - she's hardly changed at all!

I can still see Stevie Nicks' twirling in Stand Back. My drummer boy Roger from Duran Duran in any of their videos. Nancy Wilson of Heart shaking her long blond hair everywhere looking really cool on her guitar. Sting shaking his head back & forth as he sang I keep calling baby, baby, pleeeeeasssse! The slo mo swinging back and forth during Broken Arrow by Rod Stewart, gorgeous song.

Oh, and that little cute guy with the splendid legs and dark hair in the short shorts in Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" video who later turned out to be Bruno the judge from Dancing With the Stars!! lol

What was that video where some little gymnastics girl kept catapulting over the pummel horse in slo mo? I can hear the song in my head but I can't remember the name of it. Was it by Alan Parsons Project? Yes? It wasn't Yes.

Who knows that song?!! It's going to drive me crazy.

  16. Quick check in from the road. Lots of weather delays on route but this site is my first stop. Now I will go look at those pictures of Jake filming. Amazing how young and carefree he looked in these older photos. Bearding took a lot out of him.

  17. Hi everyone, Insomnia rocks! I don't know much about PR--obviously--:):lol(My first real knowledge of the workings of PR happened when I read in magazines how R considered J immature Jake, by her friends. Does an actor's agent or PR person have to suggest and/or push a client to be a selected a Most Handsome actor of the Year People cover, as Matt D. selected a few years ago. Some folks don't think Jake is good looking enough...thankfully, those sentiments are not mine.
Learning more and enjoying it too. :)

  19. Asia was the artist!! I think.

C'mon, no one out there remembers that video? Something about Only time will tell . Maybe that's the name of the song. I'll have to google, I reckon.

This is kinda funny. I always watch Wake Up With Al in the mornings. But only recently did I finally figure out how to work my DVD/VCR player again with our new provider but I forgot how I did it. So 3 REMOTES later, finally got my Gilligan's Island to come up on the screen but now I can't get it off!!! LOLLLLL!

And Al's supposed to be back today!! But I can't see him because I can't get my TV mode back. And it was pure accident how I got my video to come on last night, I'm not sure which remote or which button did it. You know, you have the AV, the HDMI, all that stuff.

lol. Man. Usually I'm pretty good with the ol' electronics; heck I hooked up my Bose Lifestyle all by myself. But this thing....lol.

Oh well. I love Gilligan, thank goodness. But I may be stuck watching Gilligan forever.

Mine neither. He's looking really good on that GQ cover on JustJared. Reminds me how much better he looks with hair.

Hi Sass! How are you? It's good to see you!

Boy, we are roasting here. Just roasting. Don't see the little birdies much anymore either. I reckon the worms are buried deep down in the ground right now. Everyone at work keeps getting on Weather.com to look at the 10 day forecast even though it doesn't change. It's just 90's, 90's, 90's and today it's supposed to get up to 107.

Oh joy!!!! lol Incredible. I feel sorry for Dallas TX. They've had how many days of over 100 now?

  21. I wonder if Austin is filming yet? I would like to hear more if Buckin is going to have some bonding scenes this season!!!!

    Okay, last question.

Why is it that Jake's EOW glasses, the ear piece doesn't curve around the back of his ear? Why are they straight like that? So what's holding them on? That is kind of bugging me.

Doesn't that looks weird? I never seen sunglasses with ear pieces that don't fit the ear like that. What is up with the crazy fit? It's like they're too small for his head.

  22. And now here's something uplifting-ish to come out of the Norway massacre. Hege Dalen was having dinner with her wife Toril Hansen on the day of the massacre when they heard gun shots and screaming coming from Utöyan Island. Now some people I know (I'm not going to name names) would've hid under their car or run the opposite way when hearing gun shots, but not Hege and Toril. Along with many others, they got into their boat and drove across the water.

They picked up several young victims and drove them back across the lake to safety. Their boat couldn't fit everyone at once, so they made 4 trips, dodging bullets each time. The Advocate says they saved around 40 kids. The day after the tragedy, Hege told a Finnish news site, "We did not sleep last night at all."

And if that picture was taken the day of the massacre, then it looks like Toril did it all while wearing pajama pants. Bravo (I tried to Google translate "bravo" into Norwegian, but it only gave me "bravo" again. Lazy ass Google.) to these lesbian superheroes!

  23. Hi Sass, nice to see you, and hope you're doing well.

Nice to see DListed do a post on the lesbian couple in Norway, I'd seen that story on Towleroad last week.

  24. Hi Sass! Nice to see you again.

PG, to answer your question about the glasses. One thing about not having the bend on the earpiece, the glasses can be worn, and then turned around and worn behind your head without really taking them off. Less likelihood of losing them for sports, running, etc.

Jake's wearing Oakley's in the pictures, they are a fav of lot athletes for that reason.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hmmm, well I'm not sure about that on the glasses. The curve of the earpiece hooks onto your ear; seems like that helps keep them on. Maybe I'm missing something. So they turn the glasses around with the eye things on the back of their head? lol. I've seen people prop them up on top of their head but never wear them backwards.
