Although bending into pretzels putting on those PoP tattoos on could be fun.This year they celebrate in a different locale but with more to fill their hearts.
Usually gingerbread hearts are popular in Germany during Octoberfest and Christmas but sure they could find some for today.

ReplyDeleteI have to smile to see them in that video. Jake Mr. Chatty extrovert, and Mr. Smooth. And Austin with a slight awkwardness with such an event as this. He does what introverts do, tries to blend into the wall.
And then to see him at the China Club too. It just seems that it is truly a spouse supporting their husband and enjoying sharing in it with them.

Ok, I think that really is Austin in the photo and the video--in the latter it's not only the height and the looks, but the body language as well.

I guess Ted could be talking strictly about PDAs, not being seen together, but that's a stretch. I've been saying for a long time now that Ted no longer knows what is going on with J&A, and I bet he teed up these letters to run today awhile ago.

Greetings from Berlin where I just saw Jake a couple of hours ago giving a lovely speech to Meryl! She received the honorary Golden Bear and had a special screening of The Iron Lady at the Berlinale.
ReplyDeleteWhen Jake was announced the crowd went wild. He got some cat calls before his speach which he seemed to greatly appreciate (and noted that "the crowd is rowdy tonight") :)
He was nervous at first but went on to give a very personal account of Meryl whom he knows as the mother of Henry, his childhood friend. Jake talked about how Meryl had thought he was a bad influence on Henry (at age 13, Meryl later corrected him that they were 12 and had been serving lemonade cocktails at a party for Maggie and that she questioned if it was just "lemonade"). He talked about how he had since been intimidated by Meryl which has continued to this day.
Jake of course praised Meryl and mentioned that she's both a wonderful actor and mother. In her own speech Meryl mentioned that Jake was as graceful as his parents which touched him :)
What an amaxing night. Sadly though, there have been no signs of the elusive Texan so far...

ReplyDeleteThe video was truly amazing to watch and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to watch it so quickly after the fact. Jake was very much in his element and was a true class act. Merryl Streep is such a fine actor and the audience certainly made no bones about their genuine affection for her and her body of work.
All good news across the board today, including Austin's tweet about Meryl Streep. The man knew darn well that Jake's introduction to Streep's Lifetime Achievement Award would be instaneously posted on YouTube, yet he had no problem admitting that he met Meryl Streep tonight. Another unavoidable connection with Jake that Austin not only did not shy away from, but actually gladly embraced.
ReplyDeleteIt's abundantly apparent that Austin's appearance at the Berlinale was not some last minute invitation from one friend to a another. Background checks and security clearances take time, particularly if you are going to attend a reception held by the German president, Christian Wulff. This trip has been in the works for awhile and it's therefore not surprising that Jake would want his man there to share in the experience as well as the honor of the high profile invitation. Jake is beginning what is obviously a new phase in his career and his life and having Austin alongside him is one more step of a change in the wind.
Thanks so much for all the pics and the video. Each one is a treasured momento of a pivotal time and place, long awaited and hard to downplay.
Great video. Anyone who claims that is not Austin is in serious denial. The best part about it is that its a relatively small group in attendance. Not like he is in a sea of hundreds. His being there is of major significance. So cute how he is trying to act low key to allow Jake to be the center of attention. He's a good mate.
