Austin: Exposed

Jake has said he has no trouble getting naked, but it's Austin who seems to be the one going for it in front of the camera. Obviously no stranger being topless, he spent the majority of his time before Hollywood clad only in trunks.

But looking over his credits, you find Austin shirtless in most roles, and HBO well that must be a hell of a deal, because he's gone the full monty on The Box twice.

Many times during a casting call, they ask guys to take their shirts off, to show their build and torso. All that core training must do a body good, cause Austin gets the part and off goes the shirt. You wonder if there are clauses in his contract. And you thought Matthew McConaughey worked topless. What is it about boys from Austin?

Even his first movie, Durango Kids has Austin without his shirt, tv pilots, short lived shows, guest shots, independent movies, even Disney parented productions! The boy has no shame! But sadly there is one movie he didn't lose his shirt. The Day After Tomorrow. Although you never know what happened behind the scenes.

  4. Austy naked. Hmmmmm...

That thought will certainly put a spring in my step for the rest of the day.

    That, and The Ring!

Just the thought that they have seen each other naked is good enough for me... ;-D

  8. Yes, it's down at the moment.

  9. I do think there should be a clause in everything Austin does requiring at least one scene without his shirt. The cold weather in TDAT is no excuse.

  10. The sight of shirtless Austin warmed me up quickly on a cold and dismal Friday morning. ;)

  11. When I was going through his credits I just kept laugh when I realized how many times he has been shirtless, nearly naked or the full monty. You know there are casting notes next to his name from auditions. I can only imagine the comments.

But you know the real reason he has so many no shirt shots don't you? They don't have a wardrobe budget big enough to cover the cost of finding shirts to fit those extra long arms. : )

  12. I'm bummed that Jake is no longer thought to be doing Farragut North. Oh well, maybe another play.

  13. Farragut North

Production aims to begin perfs early this summer at a theater to be determined.
Jake Gyllenhaal was rumored to be interested in the lead role, but is now said to be no longer a possibility.

So it's going to be Nailed instead of Farragut North.

  14. I'm bummed about that too Wicked. I was really looking forward to seeing him on stage, not to mention hanging outside the theater waiting for him to come out afterwards. Not only no Jake, but a completely different director and time for starting up.

  15. I think Austin is looking a bit rough in the recent photos. He seems so much more boyish when around Jake.

Day-Lewis slams media 'circus' around Ledger death

BERLIN - British film star Daniel Day-Lewis blasted the media "circus" Friday surrounding the death of Heath Ledger after his moving dedication of a top award to the Australian actor last month.

Day-Lewis, 50, who was at the Berlin Film Festival where his new picture "There Will Be Blood" is in competition, said the round-the-clock coverage was only compounding the grief of Ledger's family.

When asked about the tribute he made at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards in Los Angeles on January 27, Day-Lewis said he was wary of speaking out publicly about Ledger again.

"I'm reluctant to talk about it now. As much I was glad to have a chance to say something in that moment, I now feel...there's plenty more I could say but I'm not just fuelling a fire that's already out of control," he said.

"His family, for instance, at this moment, are trying to suffer the unimaginable grief in the full scrutiny of a fucking circus and anything that I say is going probably to just contribute even more to that because it keeps the story running and running and running and running."

He said he hoped the focus would return to appreciation of Ledger's performances.

"There will come a time eventually when people just remember that he was a beautiful man who did some wonderful work and we have seen great things from him," he said.

"And right now I can't say I'm too enthusiastic about adding more fodder to what's already just a horrendously, seamy, overblown machine that's gathered around his death. It's horrible."

The New York chief medical examiner's office released a toxicology report Wednesday showing that Ledger, 28, died of accidental intoxication caused by painkillers and anti-anxiety drugs.

In the SAG acceptance speech, Day-Lewis said the Australian's performances -- in particular his role in the 2005 gay cowboy drama "Brokeback Mountain"-- had deeply inspired him.

Day-Lewis has also been nominated for an Academy Award for his performance as a tyrannical oil prospector in "There Will Be Blood".

  19. Jake Leaning on Reese, Maggie

Hmmmm. I read one report where Jake called Reese first and she offered to send her private jet to pick him up.

    ReplyDelete
  20. If Reese had a private jet, why did she have to have a public showmance interlude on board a commercial flight?

Good question. BTW, I read this in Now magazine.

  22. I guess it was because what's the point of a showmance if no one can see it!

  24. I think it is very interesting that Austin hangs back in those photos with Sophia when they arrived at the Grammercy. I think he didn't want to give anyone the (wrong) impression that they are a couple.

  28. 1:51, I would not have ANY problem with Sophia/Austin being a couple. I think she's a beautiful, genuine, nice girl who'd be a prize for any single young guy (but sadly--she's picked a couple of losers in the past). However, I don't get any vibe that they're a couple. Even in the shots of Austin walking with Sophia to Butter, he's in a group of friends walking with her--but Austin is walking with several people behind her and he seems more engaged with them that he does with Sophia walking in front with her pals. I just don't get any couple vibe--more like hanging out with buddies.

Also, was Sophia covering Fashion Week for a mag or a media company? I'm wondering because the latest pics of her at a fashion show have her watching something carefully while she's writing furiously on a pad. No wonder she went to all of the shows if she's covering it for someone.

  35. Spin Dry that is just a copy of the Ok! magazine bullshit. Probably added the private jet thing from that story too. Sorry but people are giving Jake a hard time but I highly doubt anyone who really cares about Jake or Maggie would detail such a conversation. I wish they would leave Jake alone.

Also seems very double standard to be okay with Austin around any female but Jake around a woman is always bearding, looks pathetic, etc.

  37. Interesting about Sophia Bush possibly covering the fashion shows.

Has anyone heard of any other actors or actresses doing this?

    ReplyDelete
  38. well Sophia Bush divorced after a very short marriage so if as many of you stated regarding Reese/Ryan the jerk cannot be only one, I doubt she is this genuine adorable little thing.

    ReplyDelete
  39. That was NOT her fault. She was just naive. She didn't know that Chad was a lying, cheating scum. He cheated on her with Paris Hilton right after they got married!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wicked, maybe she'll be in a celebrity fashion TV show? Just a wild guess, don't listen to me!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Definitely NOT meant to feed the trolls, but Austin did name Sophia as someone he's dated, whereas she's denied that. Obviously she didn't mind this as they are still friends - what was her comment, something like "I met up with both of them on a hike. If I had to be associated with any men in HW I wouldn't mind it being those two." Sounds like she's a good friend to both of them, or certainly is looking out for Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  42. ^oh yeah, and it is good to see the ring back on - if it means what I've always felt it has. Didn't mean to be negative yesterday but I never thought Jake would go to these bearding lengths. True he has never said explicitly that he and Reese are an item, but he has ensured that that is the public impression. In some ways I preferred the idea that he and A had finished than that he would dissemble so much......

  43. The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus to be completed

    LATEST NEWS - 6 February 2008

The producers of The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus have been in touch with Dreams. There has been some misleading information out on the Internet, including at IMDB, suggesting that the film has been shut down. IMDB also removed Dr Parnassus from the list of Heath Ledger's films.

It has been a very difficult time on the production, because all involved have been grieving and assessing the future. Since Heath Ledger's death, the producers have kept quiet, but now they have told Dreams that shooting of Dr Parnassus will recommence very soon.

More information on how the production will continue without Heath will be released in the next few days. But the producers have revealed that all of Heath's performance will remain in the film. Dreams will have an update as soon as further news is available.

  47. But I thought they were over according to the most recent US Weekly (rolling my eyes). So much for that bible of accuracy. This is from eonline.com. Abbie and Ryan hit a pre-Grammy party in LA the night before.

"Also getting amorous were Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish. The two undercover lovers refused to take pics but were making out in a booth right by the dance floor. They were joined by Ry's BFF Breckin Meyer, who was dancing to Soulja Boy's "Crank That" with the couple."
