Some pics of Austy with the Ring through the years-

  1. Jake Gyllenhaal, who co-starred with Ledger in the critically-acclaimed gay cowboy movie "Brokeback Mountain" was this week reported to be planning to attend the funeral but has not yet been seen in Perth.

  2. My, my my!

Austin does like to show off that ring, doesn't he?

He must be aware of the significance that a certain fanbase place on it, how important it is in the Jaustin lexicon. And here he is wearing it out and proud!

    Says something, indeed.

  3. I adore that ring! Great post today, and yesterday's, too. I wasn't feeling up to posting yesterday, I had Heathy on my mind. :(

Great song today, and yesterday's too! :*

  4. Also, ya know what I notice? Austin seems very proud of that ring, proud to show it off - and well he should be! ;)

That seems to be his whole point in the top photo! Kinda like how Troy Aikman shows off that Superbowl ring on camera every chance he gets.

  8. Tink deserves her diamond toe ring today and mommy has ungrounded her. Yesterday she got some shots and had an allergic reaction to them. Her whole face swelled up and her eyes practically swelled shut. We had to rush her to back to the vet for an emergency shot of prednisone. Atticus has been notified and is on his way.

All- you should click Press Room's link and have a look at the photo gallery for Heath's wake. It's beautiful.

  9. The running into the water and swimming part was awesome.

  10. ^^Oh Poor Baby! Hope she'll be ok and happy that Atticus is on his way to be with her! :)

I just read about Heath's wake. Just beautiful, and I'm sure Heath would have enjoyed the swim! I like that one of the songs was Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. Thanks, Press Room!

And he ringed in the Chinese New Year with....the Ring.

Love this. Thanks, Ring Bling! ;)

  14. Imagine Heath's smile as he watched his loved ones, the laughter, the joy, the beginning of healing.

  15. What a beautiful glorious way to celebrate Heath's life. What perfect way to celebrate a his free spirit. He would have grin on his face watching his friends run into the water and watching the sunset on the beaches of his homeland.
(Press now you beat me to it as I was writing this up)

    Austin's ring:
He has always been proud of that ring and it shows that ring is just an accessory to him. It is something so much more. Sometimes you notice he touches it as he talks as almost if he is is making a connection to someone.

  16. I love those shots of Michelle, Heath's family and friends running into and swimming in the water. It looks really joyous (why don't I go to wakes like this??) Plus, it's moving for me to see Michelle smiling and laughing--no doubt the first time she has done so since Heath's death.

  17. Long ago I decided that when I die I wanted my family to buy the cheapest coffin and funeral arrangements they could find and use that money to organize the greatest party they could have. I I still haven't changed my mind about that.

I think what they did at Heath's funeral was fantastic. It brings to mind images of starting anew. What a great way to say goodbye. :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Tink is looking pretty close to normal. And what a nice young man, that Atticus! Might have to change my mind about him.

Re Heath's wake- I loved the thought of Heath's dad on the balcony looking down at the swimmers and shouting, "Hip, hip, hooray!"

  19. I think Jake is taking care of Matilda behind the scenes..thats what I'd like to think anyway....

    ReplyDelete
  20. ^^ I wonder that too? You know maybe Jake and Busy Phillips, Michelle's best friend and godmother to Matilda, were watching the baby. No pictures of Busy either. In any case I don't blame Jake if he didn't go. He has the right to mourn in whatever way he choses.

While I don't believe the sighting on that LJ about Jake at the second memorial "joking". If it is possibly true then his "joking" may have been the same as all the people laughing and playing in the water after Heath's funeral. Jake may have been telling stores and jokes about Heath. Sharing life, love, laughter and memories of him. No one is getting on their cases about having a moment of joy. Heath would want people to celebrate his life.

  21. For those wondering how the Babblers are seeing this, UV is having a total meltdown at the DCF, saying that Jake was at the LA memorial based on the People story and that ridiculous blogger sighting. Despite their insistence that he didn't need to do anything public, I guess they can't really accept how Jake has chosen the handle his grief.

Is she trying to make Jake look good or sell Reeke? Or both?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Spin dry, what are you talking about? I am a member of DC and I did a search of UV's latest posts and no she is not having a total meltdown at all. She posted about the People Magazine article and some other info. Nothing more. Plus there are others who asked about Jake but the discussion is pretty calm.

    Just leave it alone.

  26. Austin has always shown off that ring like an engagement ring. It definitely has significance.

Don't now what to make of Jake re the no show at the service. It's possible he was not even in Perth at all. No pap photos at the airport, which is odd. I too am starting to wonder about him. His behaviour since around last Oct has been off and is just getting stranger. Hasn't Ted or someone been saying he needs friends lately. Why? Maybe something is up with him healthwise. He is just not the same Jake.

    ReplyDelete
  27. M, no one lives in a box. Everyone changes in one way or another. Jake is allowed to grieve how he needs to. What you may consider "strange" behavior I don't. Frankly I could view your comments as strange too.

  28. Those pictures from Heath's memorial are so touching, and I love the whole idea of going down on the beach and into the water like that. The whole Jake angle is a bit puzzling, but I suspect that one paper got it wrong--or got fed some pr--and that Jake is not down under.

Glad to hear Tink is okay Wicked, poor girl certainly has had her share of drama.

I love this song, it is one of my favorite disco tunes. And I love "my precious". The fact that the ring disappeared for awhile and has returned at this point in time has me utterly convinced that the ring is significant. I have the feeling that the winds are starting to shift, but I'm not sure which way they will blow next.

  32. I personally think that Jake was hit very hard by Heath's death and is grieving more than most. I don't blame him for wanting to keep his grief private and for not wanting to add to the media circus surrounding Heath's death. Everyone handles grief and says their farewells in their own way.

I have to agree with Destiny about the reappearance of the ring at this particular point in time. It does make you wonder if the winds are starting to shift.

  34. And I agree with BV that everyone grieves in their own way, and there is no right or wrong way to do it. But I am puzzled by the different stories we are getting.

    ReplyDelete
  35. If you consider the media glare and how many pairs of eyes are watching Jake's reaction, I am not surprised if he chose not to be appear in public. It's not about Jake, the funeral is all about Heath. Perhaps Jake wants to avoid stealing the attention unwittingly.

I tend to think Jake was/in Perth, his name is on the guest list at the service, so either he managed to slipped in earlier or something unspotted or he didn't attend it at all. We have no idea what other arrangement he would have made with the Ledger family, maybe he said goodbye to Heath in private already, maybe he chose to help to look after his goddaughter... there's no need to speculate and I agree that people should leave him and Heath's family alone - finally.

Austin and that damn ring... :P

    ReplyDelete
  36. Winterbird, I agree that Jake may have been discrete and it's all to his credit. But his team seems to have turned a blind eye to all the conflicting stories that were printed in rags and tabs et al and we all know this is the best way to feed speculations.

Jake did not have to issue any statement but his team should have set the record straight. It could have been done simply and with an economy of words (no need to reveal his whereabouts, his physical or emotionl state, etc.)
This is what professionals in the public relations domain are trained to do and should do if only to protect their client from unwanted scrutiny.

Like you I'm ready to give Jake some slack. But how much are you ready to bet that paps and rags all over the place are working overtime and like crazy to find out what's the real deal behind Jake Gyllenhaal's silence?

I think many fans are willing to give Jake some slack, Frenchy. But the paps and rags are probably doing exactly what you say. There have already been comments in the press about Jake's absence. It worries me that they will really go after him about this.

  38. But how much are you ready to bet that paps and rags all over the place are working overtime and like crazy to find out what's the real deal behind Jake Gyllenhaal's silence?"

I agree with you, especially with all the reports that Jake was going to this memorial or that one--or the funeral in Australia and yet the press/sources there could not account for him. Very odd.

By the way, I don't blame Austin for letting loose and getting trashed at that party. This must be a stressful time for him. His recent co-star Brad Renfro died of a heroin overdose and then this thing with Heath, who was close with Jake (and I definitely think the blue ring has a lot to do with BBM and that Austin may be wearing it as a tribute to Heath).

  39. I definitely think the blue ring has a lot to do with BBM and that Austin may be wearing it as a tribute to Heath).

I think the ring has nothing whatsoever to do with BBM and everything to do with the relationship between J&A. Just my .02.

I totally agree that there's nothing wrong about Austin having some fun at that party. I don't know if the ring is some kind of tribute but one thing that seems pretty obvious is that he's strongly attached to it. I wouldn't be surprised if we learned that his publicist has strongly advised him against wearing it in public but that he stubbornly does each time he thinks he can get away with it. :D

  41. Not only will the paps and rags be nosing around for the real story, but I give it about 10 days before soemone announces he/she is writing a biography or made for TV story about Heath now that the cause of death is established. BBM and Jake will be key elements in any story about Heath's life.

If that's the case, then it's interesting that he's wearing it again. Hmm. Makes you wonder why...

  43. M, sing it loud--you're DEAD on.

By the way, a publishing company is already rushing a bio of Heath out (should be out this April). I forgot the name of the publisher.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have said since seeing the ring back, it's a good thing!

I agree I think he wears it as much as he can now, when the he doesn't think he will get papped. I also think it lets others know he is very much taken. Especially if someone was so inclined to pick him up.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think Jake needs to be left alone. Period. I know some thrive on gossip but these are real people with real lives and real feelings. Sure you may you know that but thriving or expecting gossip isn't going to help. There are a ton of gossip stories about Heath and drugs and the problems with his relationship with Michelle. Did they respond to any of it...no. Jake doesn't have to explain his behavior during this time.

    ReplyDelete
  46. What I find most hypocritical about the apologists is that Jake is fair game when he appears with Reese and kids hiking four days after Heath's death, when the bogus story appeared on LJ about Jake atttending the LA memorial, when reports of his sobbing jags and long phone calls to Reese. These stories can be posted, cross posted, linked and spread all over the internet, discussed and disected endlessly.

But, the lack of pictures, when it is painfully true that Jake did not show at the wake in Perth, or anyplace else for that matter, despite tabloid's attempt to say otherwise, he is to be left alone to grieve in private.

A private life, it should be noted, that has been splashed from pole to pole and over all seven continents since October.

Austin does a lot of things that no one else does! Good catch on the tie clip, BV! I will be awaiting Spesh's comments on this.

  53. Austin was dressed to impress for the JFC premiere (was it?). Impress whom is the question. ;-)

  54. Ha Ha Wicked. You know me too well.

Austin loves accessories especially vintage. Look what he has collected. Suspender/Braces, antique watches, even some of his ties look a little vintage.

But the tie clasp, definitely a throwback to the 50's and 60's look. I can see him trying to do old school Hollywood. I want to see him in a great European retro cut suit.

No dear, his private life has absolutely NOT been splashed all over seven continents. What has been splashed is the life he does not mind feeding to tabloids. Unless you are a Jeese believer?

  57. Austin is either going to go for bolo ties or watch fobs for his vest/waistcoasts next.

  58. RIP Heath. Heath will always have a special place in my heart. Ennis forever.

I have decided to expect nothing from Jake anymore. I am not sure what is going on with him. At this point we have no idea how he handled Heath's death or what he did. We just don't know.

I expect big time jeese after Jake is done filming. Thursday is Valentine's Day and I am expecting a big show and lots of sightings. I also expect pics to follow.

Although I was not too thrilled seeing A a little buzzed after his DUI but he was at a party and there is nothing wrong with having a few drinks if you don't drive. I loved seeing "The Ring". Mine is always near by heart. Literally.

I am going to try be less emotional about Jake and not respond to what I see sinks in for a couple days. That is the new rule for me.

  64. Funny to read about Casanova. I have the DVD and watched it a couple of days ago. I really liked that movie. Does it qualify as a romcom? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Is it just me, or is Austin's hair darker in the new photos. I'm assuming he dyed it to over the bleach job, and it looks to me like he went with a color darker than his own.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I noticed that too, Destiny. He has lost those auburn highlights.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I continue to be mystified by Jake being treated by both media and fans alike as if he were a former romantic partner of Heath.
They made a movie together and we presume they were good friends.

But on one side you've got people who are insisting that he just about represent the Ledger family, follow Heath's body around, father Matilda and throw himself on Heath's ashes.

On the other side, you've got the ones who presume he is only behind Michelle in level of grief and needs to take a year sabbatical to overcome it.

That would make some great fanfiction. It really would.

How about treating Jake like a real person and letting him just get on with his life? let him grieve the way he needs to, let him do the things he needs to do and talk about something else.

RE Austin and the ring. Love that ring and am always glad it was such a distinctive ring. Easy to spot.
I don't think that his suddenly being papped with it on means he only just put it back on though.
He might wear it all the time when he's not expecting to be photographed.

RE Matilda may she grow up to know the wonderful parts of her father

RE Heath, this poor man can finally rest in peace. Whilst he has left us with some wonderful parts (including ones we are yet to see) I actually think his true legacy has been the grief shown by his ex girlfriends. That they are all so affected means he must have left an indelible mark on those he was most intimate with.

    ReplyDelete
  68. What's so special about that ring? It just looks like a normal ring to me.

Do we even know the significance of this ring or is this another one of those make-believe things?
