1. Well, you knew they had to be pointing at SOMETHING...

I was thinking about the Perez outing Wenty thing. Yeah, Perez says he knows Wenty's gay, but how has him saying that affected Wenty's career? Not at all. Wenty still goes around pretending he's straight and no one calls him out on it. So much for outing. It really seems you can be outed, ignore it, and everything just goes on like it never happened.

2. Flynet video of Jake in the parking garage from yesterday

Two interesting points-

One of the paps asks Jake, "How's everything going with the relationship, Jake?"

Jake says, "Hilarious."

The same pap asks him later, "Jake, do you have any comments on Heath's passing?"

No response from Jake.

I think this is the same pap who asked him about Heath in the video where he's wearing the light blue bird T-shirt. I recognize the guy's voice. Sad, I know!

3. NPH continues to impress me. Check out his statement about Britney on Towleroad. This is how you avoid spin and bad press.

ReplyDelete
4. "Last week I posted about Britney Spears' imminent guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother which did, in fact, take place. Soon thereafter a wide variety of reports began circulating about Spears' time on the set, some of which were, according to Neil Patrick Harris, a bit misleading.

NPH released a statement to Towleroad this afternoon in an effort to clear up any confusion about remarks he was heard to have made about the pop star:

Said Harris: "In response to the recent weekly rag item regarding Britney Spears appearing on our show, I want to offer a little clarification, and to avoid any further drama, I thought I should act quickly. First, I honestly respect the fact that she is re-establishing herself in the industry and we are proud that she was able to be part of our show. Secondly, I would never refer to her as a 'nightmare' as she was extremely professional, punctual and pleasant during her time on set. I did say that her life has been somewhat 'nightmarish,' but only in reference to being hounded by the media and paparazzi around the clock. If there was a negative, I suppose it was the scrutiny. Everyone was on guard, concerned for Britney's well-being. We were conscious of camera phones, wary of strangers. Her world may be hectic, so we wanted her to feel comfortable in ours. Truly. No spin. She did her job, and did it well."

5. Looking for a Unicorn?! yes, it seems like that sometimes :D love your post. I don't know how you guys come up with new posts day after day and such good ones too :)

Have a lot of respect and admiration for for NPH. It's good to see some have the courage to walk tall.

6. LOL! Excellent. I just want to stay home and read this a few more times. I thought it was a song at first; I had a little jingle going through my head. Well, with all that concerted pointing, there had to be something yonder all right. ;) Great post, special!

So much love for Neil.

7. Great captions!

NPH is a class act.

Here is another inspirational coming out as reported on towleroad:

'The Feeling's Dan Gillespie Sells urges fellow pop stars to come out of the closet: "The world would be a healthier place if people were more honest about their sexuality and the entertainment industry would be healthier if people were more honest full stop. The more of us who come out, the easier it is for others. My advice for anyone considering coming out would be to do it for themselves. It's not fun living a lie."
'

Others should heed his advice...

8. My favorite part is "...do it for themselves. It's not fun living a lie."

9. It was so nice coming in to work on a gloomy rainy day and seeing this post. I laughed myself silly over it. :D I can't believe I didn't see the punchline coming.

10. Jake seemed to be in good spirits in the video of him in the Medical Building. I do have to laugh at his choice of answer to the relationship question. He is making darn sure everyone sees the difference between when he is out alone and he with Reese very obvious.

And before everyone gets on their Huffy Bikes about him not answering about Heath. I really believe that he wants his private grief to be private, not a 15 second sound bite, out of respect for Heath and what Heath meant to him.

Jake has moved what is most special to him out of the glare of the spotlight. (Austin, family, private life) Heath is a part of that I feel. So there is a consistency there.

As for a poodle with a its hair combed out and twisted into a horn on the top of its head. Sounds like something Jake would have thought about doing when he was younger.

ReplyDelete
11. I would not be expecting Jake to give a comment about Heath's passing to the paps. What's interesting for me about it is the guy who asked him. I think that guy is the same guy who asked him the exact same question in that other video. Obviously that guy has an agenda.

ReplyDelete
12. Forgot to comment about NPH. I agree NPH is continuing to impress me. He obviously has a sense of humor about himself- why else would he allow himself to be put on that poster? And when things happen that could spin out of control for him, he immediately issues a statement and corrects it. I loved it that the day after his publicist said, "He's not of that persuasion," NPH came right out and said he was a happy gay man.

14. Normally I don't reveal the next day's post. But tomorrow is special.

Tomorrow is National Sweater Day.

National Sweater Day to honor Mr. Roger's on what would have been his 80th Birthday.

Mr. Rogers was advocate, an educator and neighbor to so many children. He communicated with children and help them understand and deal with difficult questions in their lives. More importantly he taught the lesson of unconditional love over and over again, and about being good neighbors.

So tomorrow, put on your favorite sweater and "let's make the most of this beautiful day ...won't you be my neighbor."

16. I think they are scanning the horizon either looking for the all clear sign from their handler saying OK, you can go back to being yourselves, pic time is over or sending a signal that they've had enough for one day.

He has been wearing the same jeans an awfully long time. I do like to think they are Austin's.

17. :) Great post, guys!

NPH really handles the press well.

I wonder if Jake will wear his cardigan tomorrow? :)

18. The Navarres also hired a homeless Vietnam vet who panhandled near the Hamburger Hamlet in Brentwood. "I told him, instead of doing nothing, just give me a call whenever you see a star," says Navarre. He turned out to have a great eye, so Navarre gave him a camera. And now, says Navarre, he has an apartment.

Gotta love this part of the x17 story!

19. Those jeans are so long he's practically walking on them!

20. The poster is for the new Harold & Kumar 2 movie. Neil seems to have a incredible sense of humor and fun about everything. Did anyone see him on Dinner Impossible on the Food Network in the US? He was having a totally blast and obviously watches a lot of Food Network as his was spoofing show after show, while he was helping cook.

Jake's jeans -- think Hootie (Sorry Goose was taken, and he needs a bird call (rim shot) ) got himself some of the new raw denim jeans and the only way to really get that perfect fit is wear them a lot and do what the manufacturer says, no washing for 6 months.

21. Just feel that I have to post this for those who may have missed it-

Barack Obama's speech on race from yesterday

Thoughts?

ReplyDelete
22. I really believe that he wants his private grief to be private, not a 15 second sound bite, out of respect for Heath and what Heath meant to him.

May I ask what makes you believe that or maybe it's something you want to believe?
I'm not a troll, I'm just curious to know what makes you think he feels any grief about Heath's passing. Because his behavior ever since Heath died points to the exact opposite.

ReplyDelete
23. I told him, instead of doing nothing, just give me a call whenever you see a star," says Navarre. He turned out to have a great eye, so Navarre gave him a camera. And now, says Navarre, he has an apartment.

What a great story, Wicked.

I also think NPH is a class act, Spesh, and look forward to seeing him in movies and on TV.

I missed Mr. Obama's speech and want to see it when I get home.

I agree, I like Jake's hair longer. :)

ReplyDelete
24. I'm just curious to know what makes you think he feels any grief about Heath's passing.

Some people do not show their grief publicly. I think Jake did and does grieve Heath's passing because I don't think he's that unfeeling not to. He and Heath starred in an emotionally charged film and genuinely seemed to like each other off-screen. Heath was a friend, maybe not a BFF, but a friend nonetheless. I don't think Jake is heartless.

ReplyDelete
25. Just as funny the second time around, this post defintely has to be one of my favorites. The pictures are so perfect, especially that one of Jake clutching his hand to his forhead.

This morning I was just reading a NYT story on Johnny Weir, the ice skater Wicked featured in a post. Dlisted has some of the more interesting quotes from it (along with the usual snarky comments). One thing not mentioned on Dlisted is that the article talks about how in addition to all of the talk about his possibly being gay, there is also talk about his not being the "right" kind of gay because he's not masculine enough, and noted comments made along those liness by a sports commentator who is gay, Mark Lund.

ReplyDelete
26. For all the insight that Jake has given into his life, we know that he is a caring, compassionate son, brother, lover, friend, uncle and member of the great big neighborhood we call the world. But that's not so say he shares everything. He has more friends than just Chris and Nat and the handful that you see. Not they aren't important, just those he just doesn't share. He has always maintained some parts of his life as private and he needs to for his own well being. If you gave your entire being over to the public you would have nothing left of yourself, for yourself or to give to those closest to you.

Again Jake is chosing to keep more things private and out of the spotlight recently. Many of those things are the most important. And why shouldn't he keep those things he cherishes the most for himself.

Now Heath. How could anyone who knew someone even as just co worker , let alone a costar and friend not feel the pain of losing them. Grief is there for everyone, but how you deal with grief is different for each person. Again I think Jake cherished his friendship with Heath, and he was keeping that and his sorrow over losing that friendship and Heath away from the glare of the public eye.

I don't think Jake would have be allowed to grieve the way he needed to if he went public. He's not grieving enough, he's grieved too much, why does he do this, why didn't he do that. He needed to grieve the way he needed to so he could find peace for himself, not so that the public could find their peace with Jake's reaction.

I'm not saying Jake will be forever silent about Heath, he may one day feel the time has come to share that, but when it is, is up to him and no one else.

ReplyDelete
27. Here's the NYT article about the rivalry between Johnny Weir and Evan Lysacek. Funny thing is, I like both!

Destiny, forgot to say thanks for finding that story on Johnny and Evan. Those two really do not like each other. I saw an interview with both of them and the tension between them could be cut with a knife! I am totally bummed that Evan is injured and will not be competing at Worlds.

It continues to amaze me how homophobic the sport of figure skating is, since it has had so many gay competitors. Maybe the problem is that most were in the closet during their competing years. The only openly gay figure skater I know of, who actually came out while still competing, is Rudy Galindo.

Do you think the homophobia comes from a fear that it will be perceived as a gay sport and be marginalized as a result?

35. Do you think the homophobia comes from a fear that it will be perceived as a gay sport and be marginalized as a result?

Could be. That is a good theory. Although, figure skating is the second most watched sport in the U. S., after football.

Okay, instructions for HTML tags-

To bold- text you want bolded- to really bold, you use < in place of [ and > in place of ]

To italicize- text you want italicized- again to really italicize, you use < in place of [ and > in place of ]

To link- [a href="URL of link starting with http"]title of clickable link, whatever you put here will appear in blue to be clicked[/a]- you guessed it, to really link it you use < in place of [ and > in place of ] Note: there must be a space between a and href. Hope this helps!

47. Pedro is the best. I've been following his adventures with Jake and he's just the sweetest, most genuine guy; he deserves all his good fortune. It's nice to hear good things about Jake through him, too, I don't think he exaggerates, lol.

Funny how, even when related through an honest stranger, Reeke still comes off as a business pair having a business lunch and canceling whatever other business they were going to do.

48. Jake and Zodiac.

Working with Fincher on Zodiac at the time was a great move on Jake's part. It is really bridged him into more mature roles. And working with Fincher is daunting, but Jake gained a lot from the experience. You can see that, and I think we see it in his upcoming roles even more. Have to say Zodiac is up there with some of his best stuff.

Can't wait to see how he can top what he has already done.

49. Absurd Droppings

What the ef are kooky-together Brit Spears and Mel Gibson really up to? Nothin' good, according to Camp Gibson...plus, Tom Cruise has a surprising connection to Jake Gyllenhaal, and it's probably not what you think. What dirty birds you all are! Ready to swoop today?

Cruising, Snoozing

Tom Cruise was seen on the Fox lot—then again, where isn't he seen nowadays? 'Member when he was a predominantly private person, with a powerhouse publicist keeping all the embarrassing info out of the public? Seems like a distant dream, doesn't it?

T.C. met with an exec, hopefully brainstorming a better project for the grappling actor than the ones he's been messing around with at his own prod company. What makes this meeting of the minds muy interesante, to us anyway, is that this is the very same exec that Jake Gyllenhaal lunched with just last week.

Jakey-darling hasn't had a hit flick since Brokeback Mountain (it's still a blessed shock to think a gay-themed film was a blockbuster, huh?), but he's been churning out the critic-approved serious cinema with his one-word wonders Jarhead, Proof and Zodiac.

Sure, not even a rumored on-set romance with Reese got anybody riled up to see Rendition, but J.G.'s handsome mug is still seen in as many respectable films as gossip rags. Tommykins could stand to learn a few tricks from this subtle performing genius.

Since his couch-trapezing three years ago, Cruisey's been in just two flicks, the limp M:I threequel and the nap-inducing Lions for Lambs. The remainder of his overexposed mayhem's been saved for offscreen shenanigans, be it getting hitched in Italian castles, fathering the most mysterious baby since Rosemary's and touring Posh 'n' Becks around Bev Hills.

And though I doubt Tom-C ever intended his turtlenecked, Tickle Me Elmo laughing Scientology promo vid to hit the 'Net, it just helped cement his newfound place as America's Punchline, as opposed to the movie star he once was.

How about instead of rewiring your career with desperate comedies like Hardy Men or controversial (and potentially catastrophic) Valkyrie, why not tackle something you've never tried before. A vacation? Pack up li'l Suri, recharge Katie's batteries, and flee for awhile. We can't diss ya if we miss ya, Tom.

New pics of Jake doing some work to help with scholarships along with Maria Shriver at Conservation Corps Spring Luncheon. Which awarded $150,000 in scholarships. He is using crutches but I think that may be because he can't wear an aircast due to the dress shoes.

And I love Pedro and his Jake encounters. :)

59. It was so nice coming in from work on a gloomy rainy day and seeing this post!
- adapted from Destiny's 9:54 AM post ;);)

And here's the reason why Reeke will never be able to find unicorns in the U.S.:

The unicorn is a beautiful beast found throughout the forests of northern Europe. It is a pure white, horned horse when fully grown, though the foals are initially golden and turn silver before achieving maturity. The unicorn's horn, blood and hair all have highly magical properties. It generally avoids human contact, is more likely to allow a witch to approach it than a wizard, and is so fleet of foot that it is very difficult to capture.

Source: Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, by Newt Scamander

I found that NPH-mounted unicorn simply irresistible and stole it! No idea how it will look once up as a tiny avatar though…

Please, for the love of god, tell me Ted is not insinuating that Jake might be even thinking about working on a film with Tom Cruise!

Let's fervently hope not. I never liked that sciento, even at the height of his fame and glory; always thought he sucked as an actor. And I will spare you my feelings about his despicable cult. :( :(

62. Thanks Can't Make a Link and Good Deeds for the links. I remember seeing the old videos Pedro did, he really is sweet. And boy, when was the last time we saw a smile like that from Jake.

Like your avatar frenchy.

While Ted seems to be saying positive things about Jake tonight, he does scare me with the Tom Cruise comparison. So many ways Jake could follow in his footsteps, all of them equally bad.

I can't wait to see Harold and Kumar 2, and see what they do with NPH. For those who don't know or never saw it, NPH plays himself. In the first movie that included having babes hanging off his arm, so here's hoping that in the sequel he has hot men hanging off his arm.

63. Oh my gosh, seeing that smile and laugh, it's like another person. It's not "ke", it's Jake! It really hits home how long it's been since we've seen him beam and glow like that. He does look gorgeous, it reminds me of Cannes.

frenchy, your avatar is cute and totally recognizable. ;)

64. Thanks a million for the link to Barack Obama's speech Politico.

Over here people have been very impressed by him. Some have said that his tackling the explosive race issue at this point in the presidential race was very daring but that he did a very good job and that he made a very powerful call for unity.

I still have to listen to Obama himself but in the meantime I've copied the text of his speech and will read it. :)

Glad to see that Neil and the Unicorn showed up nicely. :)

One thought that comes to mind when seeing the return of smiling Jake: go stag young man!

The Obama speech was very good. He addressed all of the racial issues and controversy with grace and conviction. I was impressed.

Pedro was tooo cute. That made me smile.

Just a few days ago I was saying how Jake should do some charity/comm work..and here it is!! and he's smiling too : )

The difference in his demeanor is stricking....things that make you go...hmmmmm...

75. The new pics of Jake are great. Don't know about those clogs though. They may be easy to get on and off, but he is apt to injure himself further with those. Looks like they could fall off too easily.

Seeing these, I must say that if Jake looked happy when he is with Reese, I could almost tolerate the bearding. It's just that he looks so unhappy when he is with her. The contrast in these pics is clear, even though he obviously in some pain. Look at those deep creases around his eyes, yet he still looks 500% happier than any Reeke picture.

ReplyDelete
76. Why is it that when Reese speaks in front of the U. N., Jake goes with her, but when he has his luncheon to go to, where he introduced some of the scholarship winners, she isn't there to support him? Oh, I forgot, it's all about REESE, REESE, REESE!!!

77. Pedro's videos are *adorable* - I really liked the October one in particular. :D

m, they are crazy shoes but the most comfortable and safe evah. I'm wearing mine now (hub likes me to keep them indoors).

79. London, don't think Batter is JP. I thought Jeff was an Obama supporter.

82. Please, for the love of god, tell me Ted is not insinuating that Jake might be even thinking about working on a film with Tom Cruise!

Awww, don't be like that, Tommy boy isn't THAT bad. LOL

I think it's too early to worry about that possibility.

83. Let me first say that the music today was awesome. I definately have to get that on my ipod. I really don't get the unicorn reference but NPH sounds like a great guy.

Glad you liked it, Clarity. Bel Canto had a minor indie hit with this song in the early '90s.

Re the unicorn- didn't you ever wonder what Jeese keep pointing at all the time? Now you know. NPH has been following them around riding a unicorn!

Jake looks great at the Conservation Corps Luncheon! Thanks for finding that Good Deeds!
