Covers: a story

Some days you just gotta sing!

If you were picking the songs for them to cover what would they be? Can you see Jake doing the theme to Hannah Montana - bessst of both worlds.....? Maybe some South Pacific? Some Outcast's Hey Ya? Shake it Shake it like a Polaroid picture. Austin doing Lou Rawls... You'll never find another like love like mine .... (its the tux)? Or maybe Balu's Bare Necessarities? Bjork's Venus as a Boy?

Now it's your turn the songs are choices are endless. Give it your best shot.

  1. To answer the question from yesterday about why people link things about Reese here, it's because she is now part of Jake's story. He made her part of it. Here's something that even those who don't like her may enjoy. Apparently there was a little more to that video from yesterday, and here it is-

Reese Witherspoon flips off the paps!

  2. at the very start of the vid i think a pap had asked 'are you engaged to jake gyllenhall?' and reese says 'i guess so' then 'idk there's alot of people here' huh?? she flips them off when shes in the car. real classy.

    ReplyDelete
  3. She says "I don't know, there are so many of you here" and "this is disorientating".

She flips them off after she gets in the car, good for her. Reminds me of when Maggie flipped off the paps a few times. There was a video of Maggie strolling with Ramona and Jake in Brooklyn and Maggie dropped the f bomb, Jake tried to calm her down.

Ryan flipped the bird while he was with the kids, Deacon then flipped the paps the bird!

There was a video of Reese and the kids where she yelled at the paps and it looked like she tossed her ice coffee at them!!

They should do that more often, all Jake does is walks backwards, how lame.

  4. Reese is a phony. I think the flipping the paps is a fake act. IMO Reeke always tip the paps for their bearding photo ops.

  5. Austin in that picture singing Lou Rawls cracks me up.Thanks for the laugh.

BS. Major PR whore has no right to be pissed at paparazzi.

    ReplyDelete
  7. ^ITA, this is another act to try to be 'cool' and 'hip'. She wants to give the impression she is haunted by paps so that it's not too obvious she always uses them for self promotion and PR.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Oh anyone can sing "You're Gonna Miss My Lovin'", by Lou Rawls. Love him. Austin, Jake or anyone. Is there video of Austin singing it? I can just hear it now in that beautiful low voice, "you'll never find . . .". Sigh. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Ha, I doubt she woud tip the paps and then give them fip, they said oh shit and then laughed, LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. There is a video of Austin singing. They showed it on the Tony Danza show when Tony interviewed him. Austin has a beautiful singing voice. Even Tony commented on how nice it was.

  11. Oh that's right, now I remember! What a cutie. :)

  12. Austin
Some day my prince will come from Snow White

You Can Fly from Peter Pan

    Jake
I Won't Say I'm In Love from Pocahontas

    Toss Up
    Whole New World from Aladdin

Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes from Cinderella

Can You Feel the Love Tonight from Lion King

Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins

  13. How about Jake singing "Midnight at the Oasis"? ;)

  14. at the very very begining [the 1st second or 2] you hear the pap ask if shes engaged to jake gyllenhall and she answers 'i guess so' [but not like shes happy] like shes just going along with the pap and being sarcastic but when she sees the big group of paps its like she changes her mind and doesnt want to be misquoted [irony doesnt go over well in print, remember?]. and then she hangs outside her car almost like she wants to say something.

    LOVE IT!

And this cap came from Austin's interview with Jimmy Kimmel. One of his friends got the tape from his mom. He sang Yankee Doodle Dandy. Oh show choir always comes back to haunt you.

    ReplyDelete
  16. ^^Thanks! ;)

It might be better if Austin sings it to his sheik, now that I think of it. :)

  17. Home today (yeah!) still not much time to post though (oh well...) but since we're on the subject of singing I'm picturing a Jaustin duet doing Something Stupid. This song always makes me smile and brings back memories of lazy sunny playful days. :)

To answer the question from yesterday about why people link things about Reese here, it's because she is now part of Jake's story.

I agree, but that "story" is advertised to death by Reeke themselves and the corresponding stuff is always dutifully posted here. Do we need to see Reese Witherspoon's antics linked here on top of it all? Understand though that this is a personal opinion and other OMG posters might not agree with me.

Here's something that even those who don't like her may enjoy.

I understand this is a video in which she's "angry" at the paps right? One word comes to mind: hypocrite.

You know right now I'm actually trying to think about other possible singing duets for Jaustin. I'll try to make a list and post them either when I'm back tonight or tomorrow during Austin Friday. :)

  18. Don't Go Breaking My Heart

    ReplyDelete
  19. Being an incurable romantic I'd like to nominate the Dixie Chicks I'll take care of you as a possible song for Jake and Austin.

If you don't know it here's a rather randonm you tube video from a Xena fan who obviously had the same idea.

    sweet song

    ReplyDelete
  20. Something Stupid - great choice for a cover Frenchy

And song from Canada - (sorry not from Quebec, but Ontario) In all it's 70's glory The DeFranco Family's Heartbeat Its a Lovebeat.

The outfits, the platforms and the dancing. I don't who would do it. Austin would want the clothes and Jake has the finger pointing stance down pat.

DeFranco Family Heartbeat It's A Lovebeat

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh,I remember that! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh my dog, Special, the DeFranco family! LOL!!! I once did a gymnastics routine in junior high to "AbraCaDabra" by the DeFranco's.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Listen to me, "gymnastics routine". Makes it sound like Mary Lou Retton. It was just a stupid tumbling deal, somersaults & whatever. Giminy's

  24. I wanna tell you now
Something's gotten hold of my hand
Dragging my soul to a beautiful land
    Something's invaded my night
Painting my sleep with a colour so bright
Changing the grey, changing the blue
Scarlet for me, scarlet for you

  25. You Could've Been With Me - Sheena Easton

    Human Touch - Bruce Springsteen

    My Body's Callin' - R Kelly

Wait for You - Elliot Yamin

And Jake can sing "Sand In My Shoes" by Dido

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jaustin can also sing "Digital Love" by Daft Punk : )

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh, PG, I love Dido. My favorite is "White Flag". Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  28. And for the NC-17 crowd only, the boys could sing:

"C'mon & Ride It (The Train)" by Quad City DJ's

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sass, always nice to have people pimping out Austin's acting. I really enjoyed Full Count and thought the ensemble cast uniformly good. Recently saw House of Usher and thought it was creepy and not that great a movie. I thought Austin was okay, though.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah, I like Dido, too. She has such a smooth voice.

Oh, btw, Special, thank u very much for the "Homegrown" answer. I didn't know of that.

Darn, that Train song's got me all hot & bothered here @ work, lol!!

  31. Sorry to be hogging all the space here; when it comes to music, my mouth can blab forever.

On a more serious note, I'd like to see the day when the 2 boys would sing "No One" by Alicia Keyes.

  32. Wham's I'm Your Man

  33. 50 Cent's Candyshop - I think Jake knows the words by now.

  38. How about Austin singing to Jake,
    "Don't Go Breaking My Heart"!!
one of Paul Anka's classics from
    the 70s.
Also, do you think the blog
from the person in Texas on the
last blog was believable or could
    it be made up?

    ReplyDelete
  39. prairie dog, lol!!! what a faux pas that one was.

I'm going to think on these songs some more. There's some good ones out there

  40. Sade's "Your Love is King" or "Nor Ordinary Love"

  41. Color Me Badd's "I Wanna Sex You Up"

And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

  44. I Touch Myself

I love myself I want you to love me
When I feel down I want you above me
I search myself I want you to find me
I forget myself I want you to remind me

    I dont want anybody else
When I think about you I touch myself
Ooh I dont want anybody else oh no, oh no, oh no

Youre the one who makes me come running
Youre the sun who makes me shine
When youre around Im always laughing
I want to make you mine

I close my eyes and see you before me
Think I would die if you were to ignore me
A fool could see just how much I adore you
I get down on my knees I do anything for you

    I dont want anybody else
When I think about you I touch myself
Ooh I dont want anybody else
Oh no, oh no, oh no

I want you I dont want anybody else
And when I think about you I touch myself
    Ooh, ooh, oo, oo ahh

  48. You consider me the young apprentice
Caught between the scylla and charibdes
Hypnotized by you if I should linger
Staring at the ring around your finger

I have only come here seeking knowledge
Things they wouldn't teach me of in college
I can see the destiny you sold
Turned into a shining band of gold

I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger

    Mephistopheles is not your name
But I know what you're up to just the same
I will listen hard to your tuition
And you will see it come to its fruition

I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger

Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you'll never find me
I will turn your face to alabaster
Then you will find your servant is your master

And you'll be wrapped around my finger
You'll be wrapped around your finger
You'll be wrapped around your finger

Yes! But would they do Sonny & Cher's "I got you babe?" Right now Jake's got the bod to pull off a Mackie.

    ReplyDelete
  51. My fave - Land of a Thousand Words by the Scissor Sisters - Jake singing
    Great song London.

And no Rufus songs yet? And no Bee Gees? Two that I thought people would pick because Jake has done both in public.

  52. No need to watch the whole thing, she's just shopping for shoes and chocolates. Just watch until you get to the part where you can see her upper arm. She has a bandaid on it that looks like it might be because she had to get a shot. Maybe she is going to Morocco?

    Video

    ReplyDelete
  53. Oh, yes, because going through a battery of immunizations so one can jet off, leaving the children behind, to spend those hot desert nights lip locked with your gay "boyfriend" is the ONLY reason why one could possibly have a band-aid on their arm.

    ReplyDelete
  54. They don't put band-aids on shots, do they? When they take blood, yeah, but I don't think a shot. Shots don't draw blood.

I'm still chortling over the match up of Reese and Beer Tent. Geeez, those 2 just do not go together!

I think the boys oughta do a little send up of "Dancing in the Sheets" by Shalamar. See them shake some booty to that one.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I don`t think i`ll ever forget that interview with Austin when he was on Jimmy Kimmel. That cute video of him when he sang as young and how embarassed he seemed to be:)
I think it`s ok to link to Reese and "what`s happening in her life", cause, as someone said, she`s a part of Jake`s life now. She is, though i don`t believe she is in the way he and the media want people to think.
There isn`t much to say about Jake and Austin these days...So Reeke keeps the conversation going as we await for some Jaustin. I thought i would be gone by now, nearly ten months from "the big bang", but i guess i still believe and still has hopes, as i`m still here. Though i guess the good people here keep me coming back too. You do a great job wicked and special. Every day...something new!

    ReplyDelete
  56. First of all I can't believe I just watched that video. Reese needs to lay off the candy. I think "do u need shots" may be right. That is exactly where a nurse would inject for an immunization shot. Maybe the chocolates were for her gay boyfriend. I quess if she is going she will be going soon won't be long before the kids are headed back to school.

I am now very unhappy with "The Awful Truth". If this is what it is going to continue to be I am going to lose interest quickly. It all about getting hits. Most of us sure just went on at night. I am sure they are hoping to get many more hits as Ted updates. I for one won't do that. I will check in once a day unless i get bored and don't check in at all.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I just got on Awful Truth and had a dickens of a time navigating through it. Seems anything I clicked on, I got script errors. That always irritates the heck out of me. I couldn't go to the next page either. I clicked "Next" and got an older post. And that bright yellow background - too bright for these eyes.

It does bother me that Mary Kate Olson got off from answering any questions. Not that I think she was personally responsible or anything. But there's just something about her not wanting to talk about it. What did she have to hide? If she had nothing to hide, there should've been no reason not to talk to investigators.

  58. I agree with you, Tom. I don`t, at all, like the new awful truth.
Thought it was great to check in once a day and there it all was.
Hope they will go back soon!

  59. Oh, yes, because going through a battery of immunizations so one can jet off, leaving the children behind, to spend those hot desert nights lip locked with your gay "boyfriend" is the ONLY reason why one could possibly have a band-aid on their arm.

Unusual place for an adult to have a bandaid. And yes, they do put bandaids on shots.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Though i guess the good people here keep me coming back too.

That's the only reason I bother. Hi NG! Good to see you.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Unusual place for an adult to have a bandaid. And yes, they do put bandaids on shots.

Yeah, okay. I just never have had a bandaid put on a shot. But then I never used to have shots for my teeth fillings either until these new dentists, who use them for everything. But come on, why would it surprise anyone that she would go to Morocco? They've followed each other everywhere, what's one more country? We better just get used to it.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Not a fan of the new Ted format either. The yellow's too bright.

The songs are awesome. Want to think of some too.

  63. Wicked said:"That`s the only reason i bother". He he, i`ve thought so for a very long time. Maybe we`ll get some better time when it comes to Jake. You know, even thought i seldom comment, i visit you about every day. Guess i`m stuck here;)

  74. Thought of some songs.

    Billie Holiday's Lover Man
    And

    Someone to Watch to Me

There’s a saying old, says that love is blind
Still we’re often told, "seek and ye shall find"
So I’m going to seek a certain lad I’ve had in mind

Looking everywhere, haven’t found him yet
He’s the big affair I cannot forget
Only man I ever think of with regret

I’d like to add his initial to my monogram
Tell me, where is the shepherd for this lost lamb?

    There’s a somebody I’m longin’ to see
I hope that he, turns out to be
    Someone who’ll watch over me

  75. Oh the irony!!!

Taking advantage of "Prince of Persia's" relocation, Fox quickly swooped in and claimed June 19 for Dwayne Johnson family comedy "The Tooth Fairy." The time period is coveted since kids are out of school.

    Billy Joel's Don't Go Changing

  81. Just came back home and you guys really rocked today!!! I just want to check and listen again to each of these songs with Jaustin in mind this time! ;)

I hope Spesh and Wicked are taking notes so that we'll hear some of them at OMG in the next few days. ;D

And song from Canada - (sorry not from Quebec, but Ontario) In all it's 70's glory The DeFranco Family's Heartbeat Its a Lovebeat.

Oh my God, the DeFranco family... At first the name didn't ring a bell but when I checked the clip and actually heard the song, everything came back at once:

    K-Tel Records!!!

Yup, those LPs featuring 42 tracks recorded very fast so they could all fit in! Did you guys in the States have those? (To younger posters, don't bother trying to figure out what I'm talking about; this is some crap you'll never have to suffer in your life!)

Seriously, I'm talking about the very origins of my music collector existence here. Man, did that video bring back great memories! Thank you Spesh. :) :) :)

  82. WDW posted today about a BBM screening on 8/4. Diana Osanna spoke at the event and said that during filming Jake entertained everyone singing show tunes. How's that for coincidence.

Also on WFT2, insider claims he's been in the business 30 yrs and everyone knows Jake is gay and who his boyfriend and beard are.

Actually, I'm hoping Reese is forced to go to Morocco. The more annoying and inconvenient this charade becomes, the sooner it will stop. It's a long plane trip and it will be hot as blazes. Sounds perfect.

It's not practical to stop people from pasting Reese links, but I don't open them. That crap always turns up on TMZ, Just Jared, Dlisted etc. anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I also look at OMG everyday but I
do not always post. I just feel
self-conscious that I cannot express myself as well as you can.
I think a perfect song for Austin
to sing to Jake would be "Come On
Over". I know it is a Jessica
Simpson country song and it's no.
3 right now on the country chart.
But it's a song that she is very
    lonesome for her boyfriend and
wants to see him. So it would
    apply in this situation too.
I will always think that Austin
has a great love for Jacob and the
same for Jake. It is such a shame
that they just cannot be really
    what they feel.
About Jake and Reese, I agree
with you. It gets very timesome
    at times.
I also think Wicked and Special
    K do a fantastic job-especially
with the music and coming up with
a brand new item every day. Give
yourself a pat on the back, Ladies!

Any Moment (Into the Woods) with the follow up of "Moments in the Woods(Into the Woods)

Can't Help Loving that Man of Mine (Showboat)

    One Boy (Bye Bye Birdie)

What I Did for Love (Chorus Line)

    Let's Misbehave (Anything Goes)

  87. Nice song suggestion, Kacie, even tho I've not heard that song. The idea is real nice.

Frenchy! How's this one? Midnight Special. I can tell you & I are along the same ages, probably. K-Tel! Oh my dog. I used to have a couple of those. I still have some vinyl, although not too many. Unfortunately, I threw a ton of them away into the dumpster awhile back. Should've at least tried to get some money for them. Now my money's getting tied up in I-Tunes.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Actually, I'm hoping Reese is forced to go to Morocco. The more annoying and inconvenient this charade becomes, the sooner it will stop. It's a long plane trip and it will be hot as blazes. Sounds perfect.

IA. After reading up on Morocco, believe me, this trip would be a good test for Reeke. Culture shock. Nothing at all like southern California, or anywhere in America for that matter. Not that she hasn't been outside the country - sounds like she's been everywhere. But there's a big difference in the culture of Morocco. Not to mention the 100 degree heat days. Don't envy her at all.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I don't understand why Reese would even go to Morocco. There are no paps and she can't organize photo ops, so what's the purpose of being there if there won't be any pics for the rag mags. She's a very committed beard. Why leave her comfy home and kids in LA to stay in some small rural town, with no shopping or fancy retaurants? I'm sure Disney has provided comfortable accomodations, but what will she do all day? Sit by the pool and get a tan?

    ReplyDelete
  90. What's in Morocco? A lot of high profile movie professionals she can bore to tears. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  91. Would be interesting if the paps were to find her there? I don't know much about paps or paps in Morocco. Are they not allowed? Or they just don't go there? I mean, I know there's usually not filming that goes on there. But there would be movies & television. Probably more restricted, I'm sure. It's got to be isolated, I'm sure. It'll be interesting to hear in interviews later how Jake passed his time. I hope he has had alot of time to think.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Not with all those half naked boys around him.

    ReplyDelete
  93. If Reese goes to Morocco, then so will the paps. Betting your last dollar on that is a safe investment. I'm sure flight and accomodations for the paps are a line item in Disney's budget.

What I find tacky - well, with Reeke everything is tacky - but, school will just have begun for her kids, both in new grades with new teachers, new classmates, new rules and regs and subject matter, and it's sometimes tough that first few days/weeks of school getting adjuested and such. And THIS is the time Reese decides to leave them behind for the bearding?

Not very mother of the year, is it?

  94. Not with all those half naked boys around him.

Lol! Guess not, on second thought.

Good point, hall monitor. They're starting school here in the wheat state next week.

  96. Hall Monitor,

    school begins in August?

I don't think Reese would do that, she's careful about "good mother" PR.

  97. school begins in August?

In many states, yes. Don't know about CA, but even if, leaving your kids for a PR whore fest is bad enough, especially after dragging them to the UK and Paris to be pimped out for People et al.

Of course, perhaps the kids WANT mom to go away, since they always seem to have a much better time with Dad and Abby.

  98. Can't imagine that the Phillipe children go to public school, so a private facility can begin a new school year any time they wish.

  99. I went to private school for elementary and high school and we followed the state school year. The only exceptions were that we have a stray day off because of religous holidays.

  100. Most private schools do follow along with the state schedule, easier for football games, academic bowls and the like where they compete with public schools.

However, as long as the students attend a certain set number of days - varies from state to state, usually around 180 - it makes no never mind exactly WHEN those dates occur within a calendar year.

This discussion, of course, is all academic for we know nothing specific about the school Ava and Deacon attend. As it should be.

As a mother, and a teacher, all I can say is that any change, ANY change, can be difficult for a child and having a loving parent around to provide stability and a willing ear during times of stress - and beginning a new school year qualifies - is very important for their academic success.

And after all that those children have had to slog through this past year, I would think that the least Reese could do would be there for them.

  101. "Have you scheduled a visit to your doctor or a travel medicine provider?

Ideally, set up one up 4 to 6 weeks before your trip.

Most vaccines take time to become effective in your body and some vaccines must be given in a series over a period of days or sometimes weeks."
