Not a Hair Outta Place

Epic natural disasters, center court championships and champion basketball, bubble suits, older women, cowboys in the old and new west, teachers and sea creatures, murder, mayhem, military, monasteries and marches, congressional and professional, discount shopping, cows as pets, giant rabbits, divinity in corporeal form, THE EIGHTIES!

The world might be a mess around them but their hair looks great. Don't you think?

Thanks to IHJ, AustinMedia, Austin Nichols Journal for photos.

  1. I'm not sure I'd call of Austin's styles great, but I do enjoy the fact he's had so many looks. :-D

And thinking of how Jake's hair is always in place makes me think of the one time it wasn't, the bedhead photos.

  2. Here's a link to today's Liz Smith talking about 'Milk' directed by Gus Van Sant, about the life of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay city supervisor of San Francisco. He was assassinated, along with Mayor George Moscone, in 1978, becoming a martyr to the cause against sexual discrimination. It opens selectively in the US October 29th, nationwide in November

And another film 'Breakfast With Scot.' It's about two gay guys, one of whom is a former hockey player, the other is a sports lawyer. And for the first time in history, the National Hockey League gave us permission to use their logos and slogans and equipment. It's a comedy. These guys have to take in an orphaned nephew, a precocious 10-year-old who wears makeup, jewelry and high heels and is a tremendous upset in their butch sports life." Outfest, the largest gay film organization, showed it in LA two weeks ago, and Regent Releasing will distribute it in September.

  3. This was just their movie tv hair. It was professionally done to look that way, believe it or not in some cases.

I'm saving the DIY hair for another day, cause that's just another kind of fun.

Sometimes the best is when you're not picture perfect and camera ready.

  9. I don't like it either Wicked. I liked the old-fashioned gossip columnist format; I don't need to see pictures everytime I read something about a celebrity. And does this mean he's going to be posting through out the day, rather than once a day? Seems like they're trying to make him like everyone else.

  10. i hear ya wicked re ted's new design. bright yellow is bright but ok with me.and sheesh alot of pages to go thru and it doesn't say when you've ended the current read, you just keeping going back in history when you think you're going forward.. another thing, i tried to go to the blind vice section cos i wanted to read about sheila muff driver lol but it kept sending me to the main page not to anywhere where thr b-vices are. wtf?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think Ted may be referring to TT in that blind vice. First, you get a question about Bennifer, which as we all know people use to credit Ted's credibility on TT. Then the quesion and answer on sheila:

Two questions: First, can you confirm any of the old Blind Vices that are already public knowledge? And second, is Sheila Muff-Driver from One Desperate-Diva Blind Vice Faye Dunaway?

  16. Both boys are blessed with thick, luscious hair. Their movies do not always show it off to good effect, but I bet they enjoy running their hands through each others hair. I like them best when they let the natural color and curls show.

Not liking Ted's new look myself. Confusing to navigate and it now looks like every other HW blog. His format used to be unique. Oh, well. I am sure he had to go along with the flow.

Some rag had an article about Jake not being able to bring himself to see Dark Knight. I can't keep those rags straight. They all look alike to me. All the pics are of Jake ogling Heath. Can't take his eyes off him.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Both guys are willing to try anything with their hair it looks like. There is something about Austin's big natural curls in Surface that make this baby fine straight haired girl very jealous. You always want what you don't have.

Jake has mentioned he has had some disastrous hair for some of his movie. He would not be speaking of Bubble Boy would he? Its classic.

Both have had the buzz, advantage Jake, and the going blonde, advantage Austin. And I don't know I think Jake could achieve the Texas high too if he applied himself, (Rendition and Highway). : )

Looking at the picture of Nailed and the picture for PoP below it - wow you can see Jake dropped weight, look at his face.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That should be question Ted's credibility, not credit.

And you're right Special about the weight. His face in Nailed looks heavier than usual, and thinner than usual for PoP. I don't think of his face as changing that much.

  20. Looks like Eonline Has decided to take the format of all the other popular gossip blogs. TMZ, Perez, Dlisted, Just Jared. I really don't like that it is going to be updated all day long. I loved waiting at night for his column. I quess we are just gonna get the letters occasionally as we did last night. Tuesday was always my favorite day. I loved the Toothy/Jake letters. This will sure take some getting used to. At this point I really don't like it especially now that it is being updated during the day. I think my plan is just to check in before I go to bed like always.

  29. Wow, it's been a long day and what a treat to come home tonight, click on this montage of beautiful men pics and heave a big heavy sigh of admiration along with a good dose of dreamy eyes. You did good on this one, Special, just what the doc ordered. Question: when did Jake have blond hair? I missed that show/movie totally.

Count me in for not caring for Ted's new format either, on AT. It looks like all the other HW gossip blogs. It was so much easier to read before. And I agree, I don't need a celebrity's picture to go along with every story.

I could believe Reeke meeting up in Brooklyn; after all, NY would be a halfway point, sort of, for them. But it's the kind of concert that it was that I find hard to believe. They said there was toilet paper throwing on stage, lol, and it just didn't sound like either one's kind of gig, especially Reese. Altho, as one rag said, she's hip & edgy now!!! Oh geez, that just makes me ROFL.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I don't know which I like better, Austin in his buzz cut from Glory Road or with the longer hair like in JFC. That buzz cut really did it for me, don't know why; usually I don't like the buzz cut. But then, it looked good on Jake, too.

Anderson Coop is hot, for a silver fox. He looks great in a T shirt. At least he isn't bearding; he just seems to go about his business, doing his job and looking good doing it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. "Altho, as one rag said, she's hip & edgy now!!!"

As compared to the Golden Girls maybe. Reese dresses like a frumpy, 60 yr.old housewife. Her attempts at trying to dress in cooler clothes just make her look even frumpier cause she can't pull it off. The only time she looks elegant and polished is when a stylist dresses her.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh, I know, Crying from laughing. Hear, hear. Hence, the comment I made very early this morning. Especially during Reeke, her outfits have baffled me.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Reese's got money, but even in Hollywood, that buys neither style nor class.

    ReplyDelete
  34. yeh right, reeke going to a concert and no one takes pics, no one saw reeke anywhere in ny that day/weekend, no pics at all, no other sightings, just that 1 that specificlly names the bands. uh huh.

the reese vid; she holds her head down the whole time and says 'i don't know, there's alot of people here' - wtf is that? she doesn't hop in the car and make a quik getaway, she lets her phone ring about 6 times whiole she's standing and putting her purse in the car taking her sweet time, she answers and talks on the phone all while the paps are there, taking her time getting in the car and leaving. wierd, she acts/looks like she's in a daze like she's stoned.

her not answering in any way but standing there getting all the attention and letting the paps take lots of pics of her is more proof that she's def playing a game and using her friendship with jake for pr. its a friendship but she wants people to think its more. shit she wants jake to think its more but he's not made that way.

btw rumor has it the dea is dropping the heath investigation on where the drugs came from. another thing mko gets away with.

    the day after sunflower

S and I watched The Day After Tomorrow last night. It's good when you're really stoned, particularly (or maybe specifically) the special effects. The airplane turbulence made me wish I hadn't taken such a big hit off the pipe before we hit Play. It's really a cheesy movie, but S commented early on that it was like Poseidon Adventure, which is exactly right, so all of the bad writing and so-so acting was okay. It was a little long (at 2 hours 3 minutes), but what else did we have to do last night?

The reason I've wanted to watch this movie, I'm a little ashamed to admit, is because I was having lunch a few months ago with M and a woman she works with. We ate Vietnamese at the Sunflower, which is probably the best Vietnamese restaurant in Austin. This woman -- whose name I can't remember -- was going on and on about the fact that Jake Gyllenhaal's agent was, the very next day, going to announce that Jake was coming out of the closet because he was in love with Austin Nichols.

I had no idea who Austin Nichols was, but this unnamed woman filled me in on all the "facts." The one I remembered (and could look up) was that they met on the set of The Day After Tomorrow. I was certainly curious about the kind of man Jake would fall for -- would he be Heath Ledger-like? Or perhaps more like Jake himself). I guess Austin Nichols fits both of those descriptions. Regardless if the rumors are true (the media was pretty quiet the day after my lunch at Sunflower, though I don't really tune in to the media, but of course, surely by now I would've heard something), whomever Jake chooses to spend his time with is the real winner. That smile!

There was nothing really revealing about Jake and Austin's "relationship" in the movie as far as I could tell. They started out rivals over the same high school girl, then eventually (when the tragedy was great) became pals. After watching the first season of Extras (which S and I did a few nights ago -- we love this show!), I imagine that movie actors spend a whole lot of time together waiting to be called for a scene, and since the two of them were in quite a few scenes together, they probably had a considerable amount of hang time together. Obviously they got along. Good for them.

  38. yeh right, reeke going to a concert and no one takes pics

Besides the toilet paper throwing on stage, that's another thing about this sight being unbelievable. Everywhere those 2 have been, there's been a full roll of film to showcase it.

I did think, tho, that if it were true, I could understand it being in NY. But still, when you think about the travel distances involved; and besides that if the couple is in as much love as People & US magazine would have us believe, if those 2 had a precious weekend together, I ask, why on this green earth would they be spending it at a beer tent simply holding hands instead of holing up in a hotel room shaking the headboard to beat the band.

  39. From me, this will be another post about NPH! Just gave you a warning so you can skip continue if you are sick of my comments about him.
"NORMALCY", was the world people got hung up on this time.Neil has a tendence to make people do that,-one way or another-when he gives interviews.
I`m not surprised. Neil is very out-spoken. He want`s to be himself-even though it`s clear he has people to choose the questions for him...before the interviews.
I think it`s very important for him to be himself...maybe too important!
I don`t know how to put it, but to me it`s strange to read comments about what he`s saying about Britney, then the next day, he has to correct himself. -So he did yesterday...if it was him,... commenting on "towelroad". Don`t know if it really was, but something tells me it was.
I really like NPH. lOVE "HIMYM". Me and my husband watch it. Similar taste. My brother tried to, but didn`t like it.
We have an out actor, speaking freely about his choises in this world. And people have to get hung up in one word. I can see how the word "normalcy" can bring the reaction out to people, i also think it was the wrong word to use, just try to see what he means anyway.
Anyone can make mistakes and anyone can be misunderstood. Anyone can get a pass for that, as long as the eyes are willing to focus on the blue and not the grey. The dark would be too blinded....!
What i`m trying to say is, i think Neil created a lot of negative reactions within the gay world, as he said something like "I`m striving for normalcy" to describe the world he lives in. The world he lives in is the world he thinks most common people do live in. The world where people most often find themselfs at home, watching tv, cooking dinner...and so on. I completely understand what Neil means. Maybe because i find he`s interests similar to mine(not that i have a choice with three kids, he he), but i do. I love staying at home with my husband, even those times we don`t have kids at home. I feel a bit insecure when we`re out....Just like it better at home. But by that, i do learn a lot anyway!
People very often come to us. With kids or without kids. They are all welcome, as long as they`re a GOOD friend. ...So we learn a lot ...just staying at home:) Love it!
People are different. Gay or gay, straight or straight or gay or straight...and so one. We all come in different shapes and that`s good, fine and interesting,... we are just not alike... and what`s most common is maybe what Neil was trying to say he was ....just used the wrong word!!:)

  40. What a lot of strange things to pop up, especially that blog about J&A. Sounds more like the stories that were going around several years ago and again last summer with Ted's mention of a possible magazine story.

And actually I'm surprised we don't get more videos like that one of Reese. Maybe because the ones we usually get are arranged, and this one wasn't?

  43. They said there was toilet paper throwing on stage,(...)

Toilet paper was a mainstay in the concerts I went to when I was, oh well, like 15 to 20 years old. But you'd only throw it if you were stuck in those upper seat sections. As it flew down on the more privileged crowd below it made for the prettiest dreamy whitish paper chains one could wish for (sigh).

Long time no see (((NG)))! I knew you wouldn't be able to stay away with all this recent talk about NPH!

Ha, the "normalcy-gate", courtesy of Dr. Horrible! :D

I can understand how his use of the word could rub people the wrong way. But when I read this interview, it reminded me that acquaintance of mine who claimed that there was a new "breed" of gay people these days i.e. those who are looking for a long-lasting monogamous relationship, a home, a family, you know, those things that only straight people are supposed to be looking for...

And in the end the key argument is always the same: this new generation of gay guys (strangely women are never mentioned during these discussions) wouldn't exist hadn't it been for the AIDS epidemic.

I may be totally wrong here but my very humble understanding of the human heart and mind makes me think that those "normalcy-hungry" guys always existed. It's just that they're finally coming out of the closet these days.

Gays, just like straights, come in many different shades, colors, hopes, wishes and deeds. Slowly but surely people are starting to realize that.

Sorry about any spelling mistake; too tired to check back for them. ;)

P.S. NG, did you watch Dr. Horrible?

This is what struck me as unusual too - arranging her bags, talking on the phone, if she really didn't want to be ambushed or seen, she'd have gotten out of there as fast as she could, you'd think.

They're doing the same thing now with Jennifer Anniston, marrying her off to John Mayer. Is this what the public really wants to see? :(

    ReplyDelete
  45. Frenchy:) Of course i watched Dr. Horrible! I think i had too much expectations as i thought it was only ok and not incredibly!
Ok , Neil has a great voice and everything. It just didn`t give me anything...So looking forward to "how i met your mother" again, wich i love:).
I really don`t like Jake`s long hair, but understand it`s for the movie.... God, how i hope he`ll cut it soon!!!
As for Ted, i think he doesn`t speak clear. I have now idea what he means these days. But... I think if it is a down-periode, he`s almost silent(as judging from previous behaviour), When there is a positive sign to come, he speaks more of him, so i think there will be something about T.T soon! Ted just doesn`t want us to get the bad news. Want`s to kind of save them so the good ones will win all an all! Just my point of view:)

crazy about the long look on Jake.
I will bet he will cut it after
the movie. It seems like Reese

    about Jake and Austin meeting
on the set of TDAT above. One more
thing I remember is on The Oprah
show back in January 2006 Oprah
mentioned Jake being in TDAT. Now
I think I know why! Heath also said that kissing Jake was just
    kissing another human being. I
wonder if Austin will say maybe
the same thing or will just say it
was part of the job!! I am just
joking about Austin. It is such
a tragedy about Heath. He really
was a good actor and really handsome. You really do not appreciate someone until they are
    gone.
