Out Spotlight LI

Today's Spotlight is on the International Lesbian and Gay Association.

The International Lesbian and Gay Association is a world-wide network of national and local groups dedicated to achieving equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people everywhere.

ILGA held its 24th world conference Nov 3 – 6 in Vienna, Austria. 200 lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex activists from over 80 countries attended the event, to celebrate ILGA’s 30-year-long history. 120 are scholars from Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Central and Eastern Europe.

Founded in 1978, it now has more than 600 member organizations. Every continent and over 90 countries are represented. ILGA member groups range from small collectives to national groups and entire cities.

ILGA is the only international non-profit and non-governmental community-based federation focused on presenting discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation as a global issue.

Their aim is to work for the equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people and their liberation from all forms of discrimination. Seeking to achieve this through the world-wide cooperation and mutual support of our members.
Focusing public and government attention on cases of discrimination against LGBT people by supporting programs and protest actions, asserting diplomatic pressure, providing information and working with international organizations and the international media.

“Activists are using ILGA as a platform to exchange and strengthen their campaigns to fight discrimination and achieve equality. This was particularly important before internet eased communication for groups which were isolated. The conference is still the place where the association interacts with its network which can discuss the movement’s agenda and elects its representatives.

ILGA has campaigned to have Human Rights groups such as Amnesty include sexual orientation in their work and to have the World Health Organization delete homosexuality off of its list of mental illnesses. ILGA was also the first group to speak openly at the United Nations of the many human rights violations faced by lesbians, gays, Trans and intersex people. 86 countries still criminalize same sex relationships between consenting adults in the world.

“Decriminalization is of utmost importance in countries such as mine so that our brothers and sisters can live freely and with dignity as wholesome citizens,” says Rosanna Flamer-Caldera. “Our work at the UN aims at highlighting the many atrocities carried out against LGBTI communities worldwide in the name of the law and to put and end to judicial persecution of LGBTI persons all over the world”.

ILGA is working with a coalition of international groups such as Amnesty International, Arc International, Global Rights, Human Rights Watch and the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission to make sure sexual orientation and gender identity stay on the UN agenda.

  1. Well I am sure little miss wonderful is headed back to LA today. Back to school tomorrow. I wonder if the reason this was a business trip for her and not a lovefest was because a certain tall and very cute Texan was in London and was demanding Mr. Jake's time. Of course we could be hit later in the week with romantic dinner sightings and pics from who knows when of the two lovebirds together.

Tab loves Debby. They were everywhere. Hollywood knew the truth. They weren't embarrassed. Just work for them and they were friends.

  2. An official good morning!

Before I say anything else, I have to apologize to my friend, PoPcorn, for getting a little irritated. I'm sorry, PoPcorn; I wasn't very tolerant there towards the end. I didn't have time this morning to get back on here & apologize and it bothered me all during church.

And hello to Kacie! Kacie, I'm glad the salad worked out for you. I made it for our Thanksgiving, too, and used sugar free Peach. It's definitely more light & fluffy with the sugar free JellO and it was good as ever.

And glad to hear you have a 3-day stint this week back at the ol' saltmines. That'll be great, won't it? For all the headache & harriedness we had at my workfacility last week (oh, it all seems so loooooong ago now), I am always anxious to see my cubemates & other fellow employees. We have a good time & even through rough waters, I wouldn't choose to go through it with anyone else. I am so blessed & happy to be where I am. And December is always fun at work, even though it's still part of our busy time. Kacie, I bet you miss not only your work but the people you work with. That's got to be hard.

I hear everyone on how it works in HW, I guess. Everyone knows. Everyone just works with it. Everyone really partakes in it all. It just doesn't seem like a good way to exist, though, does it? When do you know what is real and what isn't? How do you know when someone is telling you the truth? Even when they're looking you in the eye? Or when do you just get tired of it all, the pretending, the hiding, the deceit? Maybe I still just don't get it. Maybe making a mountain out of a molehill. Maybe it's not as complex as it really seems. Maybe I oughta shut up, lol.

Oh, and one last thing, great out spotlight today, Special. Topnotch, as usual. I had to google a few words, but am now educated on them, lol. As usual, learned something new!

  3. I really recommend Tab Hunters Biography for anyone who is interested in how big HW stars/leading men deal with being gay and being an actor or a company commodity. Nothing has changed much since back then. It really is an interesting read. Like Jake Tab hid several long term realationships and bearded big time with other female celebrities. It really is an interesting read and it from the mouth of someone who lived that life for a long time.

  4. Jake is working through the weekend according to sources involved with production over there. He had to work all last week including Thanksgiving, it's not a holiday over there. The party took place in the evening.

Filming of Pop is winding up, should be done by 12/3. Disney isn't giving him time off to go shopping. I suspect she will remain in the UK and come home with him, Ryan probably has the kids for the week. They probably worked out that he gets the kids for Thanksgiving and she gets them for Christmas.

There really was no reason for her to go to the UK to do one show and a few newspaper interviews. US Christmas movies usually don't do well overseas, good or bad.

Most likely this was a business/personal trip. She has nothing else to do over there while he is at Pinewood studios filming, he had a rare weekend off in October, the ime she was there to visit.

I would be surprised to see pics of her at LAX today or even Monday, I would think that if she was in Londodn just for PR, she would be home already not out shopping in Notting Hill on Saturday, PR for 4C is done over there, one show and a few interviews that seem to be partly re-hashed quotes from her parade interview.

  5. It really is an interesting Out Spotlight today.
But I have to say it's also kind of sad to see that gay people in a country that's still partly considered a Third-World Country like South Afrika seem to have more rights than the gay people in a large part of America and Europe.

I also didn't know that such a large part of the US doesn't even provide specific protection to their gay citizens when almost the whole of Mexico does.

About all the other stuff that's been talked about the last few days:
I see Cantara is still crazy, Reese is whoring herself out for publicity as usual, and Popcorn is still unwilling to read up on OMGs/WFTs history to have his/her questions answered.

  6. Thanks Special for the spotlight, another group I didn't know about. What a great resource. It is interesting how there are some countries that have good laws that you wouldn't expect. South Africa's liberal laws are a direct result of the changes after apartheid ended, and a recognition that all groups should have rights. But while they may look better on paper, things are often worse in these countries. Just look at what happened in South Africa with the president's policies having a devastating effect on the aids epidemic.

  7. Since there was a lot of talk last night about Jake's parents, I've decided to address some things I didn't when the story about his parents finances came out.

First, I don't know about California, but in New York in divorces, unlike other cases, divorce records are not public, and can only be accessed by the attorneys representing the couple. And even if they are public in California, the chances that tmz knew about it without a tip-off are very remote. I suspect that this all came from Naomi's attorneys.

Second, Roller Coaster Films looks like a company his parents set up for tax reasons, and clearly the only income is from the two of them, and I'm pretty sure they are the only employees, so to speak. And looking at those statements, the far greater share of income has come from Naomi, and the biggest drop in income from 2006 to 2007 was Stephen. And we're not exactly talking about middle class people here, for the year ended Feb. 2008 Naomi earned almost $250,000, Stephen $150,000.

Third, they do have huge amounts of debt on their credit cards, and mortgages on the houses (although the size of the mortgages are not that big considering the worth of the property). Looks like a case of living beyond their fairly significant means, and given that we've always seen them both traveling all over, in top restaurants, etc., I doubt one party is more to blame than the other.

In short, a lot of this just seems like nasty divorce posturing. Seriously, I can't have much sympathy for someone crying poverty whose average monthly income is $22,000.

  8. More than likely TMZ has someone on the inside at the Superior Court Department who tips them off when documentation is filed that vaguely resembles something celeb-worthy. TMZ certainly seems to get and post the bulk of all court filings in the LA County court system.

A point of clarification to Destiny's post though. While Naomi claims $22,000 a month income, she also notes average monthly expenses of $42,463, which puts her in the red by some $20,000 a month. And even with Stephens estimated $20,500 monthly income (if he were still contributing to the monthly household expenses) they would just barely break even.

    ReplyDelete
  9. TMZ's Harvey Levin's a lawyer.

    ReplyDelete
  10. You may be right numbers about having someone at court who tips them off, and about expenses exceeding income.

But I still suspect there are games being played, and again, I have no sympathy for someone crying poverty when their monthly expenses approaches what the average american earns in a year.

    ReplyDelete
  11. It's all relative, though, isn't it, Destiny? In other words, most Americans don't have monthly expenses in excess of $46,000.

As far as games being played, doubtful. Stephen's attorney could very easily ask to see the documentation that led to Naomi's statement of monthly expenses. And if it's incorrect, it gets adjusted accordingly. Same thing with the numbers from the production company. But since the production company seems to have one accountant who, in essence, works for both Naomi and Stephen, I doubt he's fudging the numbers for one side against the other.

    ReplyDelete
  12. To say that Hollywood will notice her professionalism and reward her accordingly is naive and demonstrates a lack of understanding of the industry.

Guess I'm naive then. Wouldn't be the first time and probably won't be the last either.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I don't mean the numbers are being cooked, but rather that it is possible that Naomi's attorneys were trying to get her some sympathy and perhaps gain a tactical advantage by painting Stephen as the bad guy. Some people resolve their differences easily (Madonna and Guy), for others it is a war, and it appears it may be the latter for the G's, which means you really can't trust either side to tell the "truth". One thing is certain, they have the resources to get themselves out of this, unlike a lot of other people.

  17. Interesting day yesterday. From prior experience I would surmise that something is up. Everytime the Jake is straight crowd got suddenly defensive in the past, some juicy story broke. Last time it was Reese surprising Jake and finding him with a man. That story got surpressed pretty fast. Let's see if Ted drops a good one in the next week or so.

Very good point JerseyTom, that bearding and hiding one's true sexuality has been a long standing tradition in Hollywood. Every corp has rules of behavior and Hollywood is no different. You join the club, you follow the rules.

Prairie Girl, I just got around to reading "A Minority of One". A bit wordy, but very good. I recommend it if you are looking for a one shot to read.

  18. Hi, I'm a long-time lurker, first-time poster. Some of you may recognize me as the publisher of Stephen's book of poetry. Normally I wouldn't be putting my two cents in but things are getting out of hand in the press surrounding the Family Gyllenhaal, and in this case I do have some relevant information that I believe fans of Jake deserve.

And the relevant information is that Naomi is a bitch and responsible for everything that has gone wrong in the Gyllenhaal family?

Sister, you are Stephen's publisher. Why are you so interested in his son's fandom? You admit to being a longtime lurker. I don't get it. If you wanted to be professional you would not comment at all on the personal lives of your authors, anywhere, not on your own blog or in any other forum. You would be promoting your authors based on their work, rather than their notoriety or star connections. Or maybe you are finding it difficult to promote this particular author based solely on his work product so you have to resort to these tactics to generate interest in him? Claptrap didn't exactly take the literary world by storm, now did it?

  19. While the Mormon Church hierarchy was responsible for organizing millions of dollars and thousands of hours of manpower to pass California's Proposition 8 and Arizona's Prop 102, the church's tactics haven't sat so well with some of its members--including families, members with Mormon heritage going back 150 years, and gay members---who began speaking out in July on the website signingforsomething.org.

Many have public resigned from the church, citing reasons like these:

*I think the church has no right to assume the inner thinkings of its members and take such an open stand of any political issue.

*The Church's involvement in the effort to rescind a basic Constitutional right from California citizens is shameful and misguided.

*The position the church took on this particular issue went against everything I learned from the church. Not only was the church's position discriminatory, but it was also hateful.

*The leadership fights for bigotry and hate. The God I grew up with was perfect in His Love and Justice. Shame on the men who act so disgracefully in His name.

Since July almost six hundred LDS Church members have expressed their disapproval and/or resigned. In October a copy of the site's petition and emails were delivered to the Mormon Church headquarters, but the site is still accepting signatures and letters, since this is an issue that won't go away.

  20. More warmth in this pic of Ava and Abbie than I've seen in all the pix of Ava and Reese put together

I don't know about warmth but Ava looks like mini-Reese. Unbelievable. It's like Matilda and Heath.

Oh, Jake's baby boy to look exactly like his daddy.

  21. Exactly, Unbelievable. Exactly. I can't believe she would mention some of this private information on a fanblog. And it's just not her. As I said last night, if what she said is true, then apparently Mr. & Mrs. Gyllenhaal are also aware of their son's fanblogsites. And if they are aware, then they've read/monitored them. Why? I just find that rather interesting.

m, I am piddling around on LJ right now so I am going to check out your "m's pick", lol. I like that. I have a fun time over there @ LJ, meeting new people & all.

Don't know about you, m, but I have so many stories right now that I'm reading that I'm all behind & backlogged. Someone on here awhile back had said that alot of the writing had died down, but I don't know about that. Probably since it first started, but there are sure plenty still writing.

  22. Pix Don't Lie, I see what you're saying. I also looked at some of the pictures taken when Ryan & the kids were on some mountain, Big Sir or something like that. There is a distinct difference between some of these 2 sets of pictures and the ones of Reeke when they've been together with the kids.

Ryan & Abbie with the kids make Jake look like a cardboard Ken doll cutout when he's with them. I see it with my eyes and I get a gut reaction just looking at the pictures.

I don't know what brought on the onslaught last night. That came out of nowhere.

  23. "I see Cantara is still crazy, Reese is whoring herself out for publicity as usual, and Popcorn is still unwilling to read up on OMGs/WFTs history to have his/her questions answered."

That's strange, because I have actually read the ToothyTile website and the reopened Waiting for Toothy blog and the sum total of "evidence" for the existence of Baby Tile is:

Ted says there is a Baby Tile.
Jake was seen leaving a medical building holding a white piece of film.
    Anonymous posts on various forums.

I suppose I could also include Jonathan Jaxson's brief attempt to leech off Ted's story, but he was so sloppy, so amateurish, so self-contradictory and embarrassingly mistaken that I thought it best to leave his rapid backflips and deletions unmentioned.

And the "evidence" that Jake is still in an intimate relationship with Austin seems entirely limited to Ted's pronouncements and various anonymous posts on various forums.

So, tell me Stubborn TB, have I missed anything? Feel free to sidestep this question; its the dance move of choice on OMG, so you won't feel alone. ;)

"Interesting day yesterday. From prior experience I would surmise that something is up."

No m, from prior experience of having faulty reasoning exposed and awkward questions asked, you create on an explanation that avoids reality and supports your beliefs. Just as a religious believer might walk away from a argument with a atheist and tell themselves that "God was testing them", you walk away from an argument believing that the mere fact that someone argued with your belief is more evidence that your belief is real.

PrairieGirl, don't apologise for a thing! You must be an incredibly polite woman if you consider what you said to me yesterday to be in anyway rude.

And to answer your questions; well, I'm not a Reese fan, nor a Jake fan. I found the story of Jaustin and Baby Tile to be intriguing and worth investigating, and now find the continued belief in the existence of both to be fascinating. The mindset, the routine that develops on OMG...it all speaks to the psychology of belief, a subject with which I have a special interest.

The fact that you and others are willing to believe in things like Baby Tile when the evidence is so scant is utterly predictable. OMG is a community born of belief polarization and continually exhibits all the traits of confirmation bias. If I have an agenda it's to see the reactions of people who have a strongly held non-supernatural belief when confronted with a rational counter arguments to the "tenets" of their belief. And you only need to look at the reaction of m to see how that goes.

That's why I was able to make my light hearted predictions on the next weeks discussions on OMG. I'm just kicking myself for not including the possibility of Ryan and Abbie pictures appearing. It's funny to already see the way they are being discussed here. Apparently being papped with your children is proof of whoring them out if you are Reese but not if you are Ryan. Getting attention via pictures of stories when your ex has a film out is proof of an evil vindictive streak if you are Reese but not if you are Ryan. Having your picture taken with your children at an airport is proof that you are deliberately setting these things up if you are Reese but not if you are Ryan.

The "objective" standards of judgement go flying out of the window when the person being pictured changes. From a psychological standpoint I'm sure that, to prevent massive amounts of cognitive dissonance, ignoring the previous assertions will be justified based on "how they all look together" even though the one point has no relation to the other.

    How...unpredictable :)

A staggering (and probably deliberate) misreading of my post there fif.

"Methinks Popcorn protests a bit too much. Mark my words, something juicy is about to pop."

Again m, someone pointing out your faulty reasoning and lack of facts is used as evidence that your belief is real. Fascinating.

Really, it's funny how m and fif and the one-time names can find the time to reply to my posts with insults and snide remarks but can't reply to me pointing out that Ted is pretty much the only continuing source of evidence for Jaustin or a Baby Tile (and I'm still waiting for Stubborn TB or anyone else to point out what evidence I missed)

Instead of attacking my arguments you side step my arguments, attack an argument that I never made, ignore my arguments altogether and attack me or do some combination of all three. Which is to be expected given the nature of this board.

But there really is no need to delete my posts. If Wicked or Special K say they no longer wish me to post here I won't. Things will play out the same way whether I post here or not :)

  38. I have it from a source who's reliable (and truthful) about half the time that Jake and Reese are already married. They were quietly married abroad after the Vogue interview.

Is this the same source of information that said they were going to get married on Martha's Vineyard this past summer/fall? Why is someone trying to stir this rumor up again after several weeks/a month of being dormant. I find this incredibly hard to believe. They get married and then Reese immediately leaves his side and goes back to the States to start promoting her movie? And she doesn't wear his ring all this time? Not that a ring says it all. But after her marriage to Ryan, which she still can't seem to stop talking about and its apparent heartbreaking breakup, I find it hard to believe that she'd jump into another marriage.

Hmmmmm. Why does someone keep trying to start this stadium fanwave?

I'm not saying that I couldn't be proven wrong. Stranger things have happened, but this rumor comes up when there just doesn't seem to be an end to Reeke in sight.

  39. I don't think PoPcorn should be deleted. I don't like him/her picking on myself or my friends but at the same time, PoPcorn's not vulgar or hateful or anything like that. We can handle it. What is nice about OMG is that it's open to all kinds of opinions.

PoPcorn, I know I don't have concrete evidence. I know that there is still that 5% doubt in my mind. But I truly, truly don't believe that Jake is straight. I don't believe that Austin is either. No, I don't ride around in their backpocket for a frontporch view. But it comes from when I first started looking at Jake on the internet. Look at the guy, PoPcorn. And you explain to me why a guy like that was never attending film premieres and HW events with no one but his sister or Mom & Dad. Well, Kirsten D. for awhile, but other than that? Come on!! Have you ever watched the YouTube videos of him when he guested on Oprah? David L? Conan O'Brien? Jon Stewart?

The rumors came out about him last October/November strongly over the internet, PoPcorn, and since that time, that guy has not been photo'd with another age-related male ever since. It's been a stinkin' year. Why is that? George Clooney & Brad Pitt seem to have no problem being photo'd together all the time. Look at Leo D & Zac Efron. Jake used to be papped cycling with buds and playing basketball, baseball, having breakfast, going to the bookstore, going to the grocery store, going to a restaurant, all with a male friend. But nothing for a year. No pictures of him with a single member of his immediate family for a year. Why is that? Would you please provide an explanation because I really would like to know.

  40. Reese Witherspoon has denied claims that she is about to move to London.

The Four Christmases star was said to be in the capital with boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal last month to buy a house.

However, she dismissed the speculation, saying. "It's always being reported that I am moving somewhere. I came to London in the summer, and someone said I was looking for house. It seems I am moving every six months!"

The actress added that she does not let tabloid stories about her life affect her because they are rarely accurate.

Re-read the part in bold. This source is reliable and truthful HALF THE TIME. That should tell you what you need to know. Plus, I find it hard to believe that Reese would marry and her children wouldn't be part of it. And how could you trust children of those ages to keep something like that a secret? I think that BI might be about Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds. Didn't that BI come out right before they admitted they were married?

  43. That post about the marriage turned up on IHJ by a one time poster a few weeks ago who was never heard from again. Reese commented a few days after that she is not thinking about marriage. Babblers took that as evidence they were already married, believe it or not.

Popcorn, this forum is not a place for debate, but for discussion. I have come to my beliefs from over 3 years of following Jake on several different websites. From before the bearding started and when he was not as guarded. If you dont share our opinion, you will be happier on the babbler site where they also share your opinions. They were also fond of prostelizing, but I think they finally gave that up as useless.

I do think PR is getting frustrated because their efforts to straighten Jake have not been succesful.

  45. Hey PrairieGirl. Firstly, thanks for acknowledging that I'm not hateful or vulgar in my posts. I always find it ironic that people are more than happy to fling abusive language at me in the very same post that they use to call me a "troll".

Secondly, and I hate to point this out again, because I've said it in pretty much every post I've made, but my argument has never been that Jake was straight. All I've ever questioned is the continued existence of Jaustin and the existence of Baby Tile. Is Jake gay? Could be. Is he straight? Could be. Bi? Could be. Youtube clips, who he attends premiers with and who is (or isn't) pictured with isn't going to prove anything, is it? Like you said, he did attend premiers with Kirsten, so does that prove he's straight, that he's bisexual, that he was confused about his sexuality, that he has changed his sexuality, that he was bearding, or some other option I haven't listed?

It's far too broad an argument to have, and the standard of evidence needed to prove it one way or another is so, so high as to be unreachable by anyone not directly receiving the information from Jake himself, and even then he could be lying.

m, if you would be happier with me posting on a babbler site you should own that opinion rather than trying to project it onto me. I'm happy posting here. I'm interested in the evidence for the continued existence of Jaustin and Baby Tile. If me debating the lack of such evidence makes you uncomfortable and you now wish to institute some dubious distinction between "debate" and "discuss" which would prevent me from posting here, please take it up with Wicked or Special K. As I've said I will not post if they ask me not to.

And I'm still waiting for Stubborn TB or anyone else to tell me what evidence for the continued existence of Jaustin and the existence of Baby Tile I missed. With over three years of following Jake I'm sure you'd be a great candidate to do this, but somehow I get the feeling that no such answer will be forthcoming.

Of course something unpredictable could happen :)

You have asked this question before, Popcorn, and I did answer you. The answer is this- none. There is no hard evidence. And I am now going to ask you to stop asking this question. Continue posting here if you like, but stop asking questions that have already been answered.

  47. PoPcorn, lol! I was just previewing my comment picking on you about always disappearing after you post a comment. And there you were! You must be like me; it takes me forever to post a comment after hitting preview over & over, editing & correcting typ-o's. By the time I finally hit "post comment", the next moon has come around, lol.

Oh, come onnnnnnnnn, PoPcorn, please give me a break (bangs head on table repeatedly). I feel like I'm tied up in a chair & you're holding a light bulb in front of my eyes, lol. Okay. I'm 85-90% on Jaustin in the present sense. I'm 99% on them in the past; I'm not totally positive on them right now. Although the goofy pattern of behavior of Mr. G this past year all but convinces me that he is still with someone of the male persuasion, and since I don't think it's Chris Fischer as some people, do, that leaves Austin. And gosh, I hope it's Austin because I think those 2 make a dynamic pair.

I just do. I just do believe, PoPcorn. That's it. No, I don't have any more evidence than you that Jaustin & BT don't exist.

Now can we plese move on to another subject?

I have to run to Blockbuster. It's Nov. 30 and I just realized I haven't used my free rental coupon. My membership expires this month and I lost out on October's. I don't intend to miss out on my November coupon. Someone give me an idea on what to rent! lol, no, that's okay. I have to go now.

  48. Thanks Wicked, Popcorn's air of faux politeness and real condescention is nauseating. Popcorn can demand proof until the cows come home, but, speaking for myself, it's all a matter of waiting to see what may happen. Nobody is stating anything for a fact, nor extrapolating into the future when Baby Tile is ten as to what may happen, as Popcorn has.

More distortions of my argument. Well, anyway my politeness isn't faux and I've never "demanded" proof of anything. And have I really said anything about 2017? Or would that be 2018?

Aww, PrairieGirl, this isn't Rendition :P You absolutely don't need to justify your beliefs to me, although I am glad that someone here tried to engage me whilst being consistently upfront and pleasant. As I've already said, I'm interested in the psychology of belief and the evidence that supports it, so any answer you (or anyone else) gives is of interest. I would encourage you to look into things like confirmation bias and belief polarization though; you may be (un)pleasantly surprised at what you see ;)

I was asking a different question, but I'm more than happy to accept the answer you've given me. If anyone here in the future suggests that I have missed some evidence, instead of asking them to tell me what I missed I will direct them to your answer :)

  50. Wow - a lot today.

First want to say that Wicked and I are together on the policy of deletion.

And the thing about proof - here people have difference of opinions and beliefs in all aspects of J&A. It's not about proof, it's allowing everyone a place to have a say what they think about it all. Might not agree with each other always but its about giving people the chance and place to express what they think. And not baiting or badgering people.

Hey saw the first commercial for Prince of Persia newest game version pn TV tonight. It releases this week - it releases the day PoP wraps in England. Gotta love that timing.

  51. "backtrack" at 7.31. So reeke were never buying a house in London! After all of those tabloid covers & speculation.

So Ted was right all along. :)))

Awww, popcorn is still here! Hope the church pays her/him well for all the hard work. :)

Must be frustrating for the babblers...Thanksgiving & NOTHING!

  52. Special!!!! There you are. I saw that same commercial. Well, I didn't exactly see it. I heard it and then caught the last second of it. Does that count?

PoPcorn, lol. Rendition. I didn't see that movie but well, you got my gist.

I would encourage you to look into things like confirmation bias and belief polarization though; you may be (un)pleasantly surprised at what you see ;)

huh? Now you're going to send me to my online Merriam Webster's. I'm a college grad, but it's been awhile, lol. As most regulars know on OMG, I'm a little more education challenged than alot of others here. So go easy.

Well, it's off to bed. Boy, 4 o'clock is going to come too soon, I'm afraid. I'll be cranky in the morning, but my buddy'll be back & of that, I'm glad. We haven't talked like forever. And there's Christmas music to look forward to listening to while I work and oh my gosh, I need to rustle up some holiday cutouts to put up on my cube wall.

Sweet dreams, PoPcorn. I still like ya. I'm not quite sure why you have attached yourself to us but I enjoyed visiting with you. Just don't pick on everybody so much & get things so riled up.
Hey, and since you're an honorary member, why didn't you submit a recipe on our recipe K day? Maybe some popcorn balls? Popcorn/trail mix? Do you like popcorn, is that why that's your name? I love popcorn, especially theatre popcorn and popcorn cooked on the stove the old fashioned way.
Lol, you probably don't like popcorn at all - it probably has some other hidden meaning.

    Oh well, good night!

  53. Wow, come back from a day in the burbs and thought something earth-shattering must have happened to have so many comments on a Sunday.

I don't think people's comments should be deleted as long as they are civil and don't badger people. I'd say continually demanding an answer when you don't like the responses you've gotten to your question comes close to the latter, but I'm all for giving someone the benefit of the doubt until it becomes really clear the poster is a troll and not just someone with a different opinion who wants to have an honest discussion.

Totally agree with you PG about the lack of photos of Jake with Austin or male friends. If my belief in J&A as a couple hadn't already been 100%, this alone would have put me there. Only a closeted gay man would be so pathological about not being seen with other men. Funny thing is it just makes Jake look gay as glitter to be seen doing nothing but shopping and drinking coffee with Grace.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I have it from a source who's reliable (and truthful) about half the time that Jake and Reese are already married. They were quietly married abroad after the Vogue interview.

Is this the surprise that a previous poster predicted would come? Like the poster says, there is always a surprise and it happens like clockwork. I believe it could be true. A freind and myself were talking about the HW closet this morning and Reese and Jake was a small apart of the conversation. My friend does not care about Reese and Jake rumors because they don't interest him, but he said they are getting married you know and they probably already are. Yeah, I have read on the different sites that maybe / maybe not for marraige, but it just may have happened.

Sorry to say, Popcorn makes some good points. I agree Ted needs to put up or shut up. Just put it out there.

No matter what the outcome, I will always believe Jake is either bisexual or gay. NO MATTER WHAT! Just feel it!

This has always intrigued me. If Jake is gay/bi, and Disney invested this time in POP and Jake and the movie not coming out now until after spring 2010 or Summer2010, that's a long time and If Jake is bi/gay, he could be outed or he could throw caution to the wind pretaining to his sexuality. This would not be a good investment from Disney considering the homophobic practices of HW.

Wait a minute, doesn't Disney host the Rosie Cruise? lol

  55. "Awww, popcorn is still here! Hope the church pays her/him well for all the hard work. :)"

I support equal rights for gay people, including the right to marry and adopt, and all the rights that flow from those, including rights dealing with tax benefits, transference of assets, insurance and guardianship etc. I think I may have mentioned this the last time someone had the stunningly unoriginal idea to use suggestions of homophobia to attack me when they were unable to attack my arguments.

"huh? Now you're going to send me to my online Merriam Webster's."

PrairieGirl, Wiki is better, but be prepared to have your view of the world and everything you know and thought you knew altered forever!!!

    ...or maybe not ;)

And may I sidestep the whole cooking thing? No? Okay...well, I'm ashamed to admit that I've always been around wonderful cooks and have thus never needed to perfect my own skills in that area....or develop them much at all actually. I think I could just about manage to make popcorn though :P

And Special K, because it cannot be said enough, I truly do respect and admire the amount of freedom of expression you and Wicked allow on this blog. You are under no obligation to do this, and I'm sure things would be a lot easier for you if you just deleted my posts on sight, but you don't, and for that you deserve much credit. And your "Out Spotlight" posts are always interesting and informative. A real pleasure to read :)

  57. Popcorn has asked if his/her comment would be deleted in practically every post. Kind of freudian, I think. Anyway, it's been slow in Jakeworld so gave us something to talk about.

Jake's birthday is coming up in December. I wonder if he will be back in the states by then.

    ReplyDelete
  58. "Popcorn has asked if his/her comment would be deleted in practically every post."

No I haven't. I mean, you are just factually wrong. Where could you be getting that idea from...

    "Kind of freudian, I think."

...ah, of course: projection! Very Freudian :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Sometimes I wonder if Jake and Austin have just decided to stay
friends. IF Jake and Reese have been married, I bet it will be made public on his birthday if you
believe this rumor! I have always
believed myself that Austin was bisexual. I think he just met Jake
and they just fell for each other
quickly! How many of you agree with me? If there is a Baby Tile,
I just hope their child is well
taken care of. Did Ted ever indicate whether the child was a
boy or girl? Whatever happens, I
just hope that Jake is very happy
with the choice he makes! To me,
it is so sad to have to hide what
and how you truly are to have a
career! Have a good week everyone,
I can hardly believe it is already
    December already!!
Wicked, do not forget to dress
Tink and Potter up for Christmas!!

  60. Um can someone explain why Reeke would marry quietly?

When we know what they have for breakfast, how Reese likes her garbage to be put out and what colour knickers she buys?

They live their entire 'relationship' in public and then marry on the quiet. That doesn't compute.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Thank you AG, exactly what I thought too. This whole dumb relationship has been played out in the tabloids including family holidays with the children and step Dad Jake. And now they are married secretly when the marriage and wedding plans have been trumpeted all over the net.
Reese & their reps have denied marriage rumors. Why on earth marry secretly? What is there to hide?!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I thought perhaps they married on Palm Sunday because Jake was wearing his Sunday outfit, that is, a cashmere sweater, and was photographed leaving an Epis. chapel holding a CD and with that snicker on his face that he's picked up from Reese.

I wouldnt put it past them, they are defintely up to no good. But what is this "no good"?

And why did they leave their meeting with Bruckheimer angry and almost crying?

    ReplyDelete
  63. was photographed leaving an Epis. chapel holding a CD...

... and Reese was photographed somewhere else - shopping.

    ReplyDelete
  64. And why did they leave their meeting with Bruckheimer angry and almost crying?

If they did secretly marry, maybe they were told to keep the marriage hidden because his popularity would tank? There's too many secrets with him.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Why would Jake marry Reese?

    ReplyDelete
  66. I don't get all this marriage talk either. Totally agree with AG. You just know if that were to happen Reese would make sure the helicopters were out circling overhead because hey, Reeke is the #1 couple with fans damm it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Actually, recapping of all this stuff by popcorn has me more convinced than ever that Jake is bearding and gay. Ted said he would have baby tile far away from prying eyes. This bearding relationship has given him an excuse to have no women in his life except for R, who he sees only occasionally for highly publicized and orchestrated photo ops. She keeps all the attention on her, leaving him free to live under the radar in the UK and even in HW. We have no clue what he's been doing or who he has spent his time with otherwise for quite some time now. Totally different from what we used to see. Part of the appeal of taking POP might have been so he could be out of the country and less visible, just like Ted said.
