Slip of the Tongue

Stories, not sure truth or fiction, are out about PoP co-star Gemma Arterton not being able to help herself and surprising Jake during their kissing scenes by slipping him the tongue.

Why the whole prick up your ears?

Oh you're so smug... and I just feel so used
.... I'm just a piece of meat to you aren't I.....

Well it seems there was a no tongues agreement. Now that's professional. And chaste. And committed. PR's pleased, so committed to their plan, desirable, an ever devoted bf - but it looks more like - should BE committed. Why? She's a friggin' Bond girl, what straighten up and fly right guy wouldn't try for even a little tiny taste of Bond Girl tongue? PR you missed an opportunity. Nothing naughty, just a slip to seal your deal.

It's enough to make the only girl in basically an all guy cast, go a little nutty and check and see if it's true if your teeth are itchy or just tiled. ; )

But somewhere, somewhere in the U.S. someone's grinning, and its one hell of a grin.

That's GRIN, not Chin.

Now an OMG moment:

The pictures of Jake and Austin last week opened a door, and I 'm not talking about that door, although it may have, don't get me wrong , that would be awesome, but another door, one here at OMG.

What do I mean? Well it was kind of a welcome or a welcome back for a lot of people. It gave many the opportunity to post for the first time or post again or in a while. And for some a chance to say again how much they love Jake and Austin and/or love them together. And feel like they could say with confidence.

It was a great to see old and new faces and one that I hope continues. Because I know how it feels when you're not sure if you could post something.

One day I posted something here not under Special K but another name, and I got called a babbler and a troll. And it wasn't something pro-Reeke, or Jake is Straight, which is the usually matra of trolls and babblers.

And it hit me really hard. That a place I love and help create rejected me and told me to leave.

And it made me think about a lot of other people who may feel like their comments might be not welcome, or feel reluctant to say what they really want to say. Sure we will always get trolls and babblers trying to convince party lines, or that Austin is nothing more than a long ago friend, but we can't forget about making both first timers and long timers feel apart of OMG even if you don't agree with their opinions.

We have a lot a passionate people here at OMG, and we love everyone's passion and participation, that's what makes us great, we just want to make sure that everyone feels that they can share that passion and participate.

So what to do keep that going?

Well, anyone who's been on OMG for almost the past year, knows we do have someone who is already a heck of a welcome wagon without even trying. Prairie Girl. So we recruited PG to be more of an official welcome ambassador. So you will seeing even more hi's and hi ya's now.

But that doesn't let the any of the rest of us off the hook either. A hi or welcome isn't that tough, and remember what makes us special, is all the differences and uniqueness we have.

You might agree with someone and that's really cool, and others you might not. But maybe sometimes say, I don't agree, but can I ask why you think that or why you believe that? Sometimes its something you haven't thought about or in that way before.

That's not to fall into the trap of trolls or babblers and those who want to stir the shit. They will come and come back and come back and come back. And like said so long ago, it's attention and reaction they seek. Give them that, then we have a clean up on aisle 9, when they explode from puffing up so much. Don't give it, they grow bored. And then go away, for a while

OMG doesn't want delete, we are passionate about freedom of speech, but we do delete for somethings. Personal attacks on people. Name calling. Nastiness, You get the drift.

The bottom line is this, we have this space and that we want people to be able to share and say what they think or feel, but most importantly we want everyone feel that they can share and say they what they think or feel, and feel welcome to do so. Not just one day, but everyday.

  1. Well said, Spesh. And a big kiss and thank you to PG for ageeing to officially do what she has been unofficially doing for so long now anyway! :*

  2. Hey everybody! Well said, Special. I know I have been guilty as charged and don't offer up any excuses other than I was being ignorant, supersensitive, or probably just plain bullish. I really, really try but sometimes my temper just gets the better of me. Anyway, this is my home community and people here are like family. From the first time I ever posted (and it took about 3-4 months for me to get up the nerve, I can still remember), everyone has always been extremely friendly & welcoming.

Okay, I can't be too long as it's another day in the trenches here. I tell you what; mgmt can wring & wring you til you're dry as a Milkbone, just trying to squeeze one more task, one more duty, one more meeting out of you and still tell you to get it in under 8 hours!!! No OT!! Man. But it's like a friend said, who's working somewhere that is undergoing major staff cuts. Mgmt asks you if you can take on someone else's task? Uh huh, oh yeah, sure! Can you take a pay cut? You bet! Can you stay late tonight - but oh! It'll just have to be on salary time. I can do that, you bet. She cracked me up as she bowed her head down to her chest & moaned "Just let me keep my job!!!"

LOL! Oh man, I am there with you, girl. Isn't that just the saddest thing? But we were rolling at our table on Saturday. What can you do but laugh sometimes.

  3. That little story about the French kiss was funny. Wish I could've seen that.

Hey! Slacks over here! I sometimes call them slacks. That Alfred Dunner is darned expensive. Some of their stuff is kind of Branson touristy bus kind of stuff, but they also make some beautiful things. I have to wait til they have a 40% off sale at Macy's, though, before I'll consider buying.

Austin mentioned Clif bars? I happen to have one right here. It's been in my food cube under my desk (Ha!! my own little pantry. Our new cubicles that we got have no storage room whatsoever, so I had to go buy my own container for snacks) since we left Wichita for my nephew's birthday. My brother highly recommended them because of their nutritional value & I don't know what all. He went on & on about them, so I figured I'd try one. We'll see. 20 gr of sugar is horrible, tho. I didn't notice that til now.

Alright, well, I know I brought nothing worthwhile to the table. Sorry, guys! Wondering kinda hit it on the head earlier. Interesting that we have no sightings.

I'm sorry you got picked on , Special. It isn't any fun being called a troll or babbler. Those names probably are thrown around too easily. I got called a fangirl not too long ago on WFT2 and that got the porcupine quills up, I'm afraid - wasn't as cheekturning as I am certain you were. Oh well. Has to be pretty disheartening when it's on your own blog.

Well, everyone have a good rest of the day. gotta go, gotta go. To the ugly bug show, gotta go gotta go..

  4. I think it's a very well-said post too Special, and it takes a lot of guts to write something like this. I know that sometimes I can be quick to label someone a troll or fangirl, so I apologize to anyone I offended by that.

Now, on to some really important business, what is in your welcome wagon PG. ;)

  5. I have been here since the beginning, and this was the first blog I ever posted on. I don't post very often, but I usually feel welcome. Frenchy and Tom are the two that have made me feel most at home.

  6. Just to warn you.. from the Jezebel site.. according to the Star

"Jake Puts A Ring On It" is about how Reese Witherspoon showed up at a photo shoot (must mean the Elle one unless we're going to have to suffer other photo shopped nightmares) wearing an engagement ring (yeah, yuck and double yuck), but took it off when she saw people staring. She's not ready to go public with it, but Gyllenhaal popped the question.

Vomit buckets at the ready folks.

Oh, and great post today, totally agree with what you're saying.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Did the Star get this engagement ring siting from the same person who reported that Reese was wearing a ring at the Lakers game and Katzenberg told her to hide it? Reeke doesn't want to go public with an engagement because they are what, such a private couple? Yeah right.

  8. I have the feeling that March is a special month for the guys. Some sort of anniversary. The day they first held hands in public, the first Toothy mention. Maybe the month they first met. There was another time when we had not seen much of them and they appeared together almost the same date, different year. So hopefully they are off somewhere together.

Re troll comments. I think most of us visit both here and WFT2 regularly. Some days WFT2 gets overwhelmed with troll comments and by the time I get here, I am up to my neck with it and in no mood. So, may be testy. I don't know about you guys, but in the AM I visit my favorites in descending order, but in the PM, I reverse the order. A feng shui thing I think for me. I drive out of my neighborhood one way, enter the other way. Will try to be more open to newcomers.

  9. That story does not match with the no,no,no,no to getting married. A Disney PR reaction to the POP picture disaster I think. On the heels of Gemma's tongue.

  11. ^m, not sure, maybe its just Star making non-pr sanctioned filler up, maybe its even true (the ring bit, not a real engagement I hope). Whatever, at this stage it really does have the flogging a dead horse feel to it doesn't it.

If I was Reese (would love the money but not the chin) I'd be backing out of this fiasco as quickly as possible. I now think Jake will come out of it better (public opinion etc).

  13. Hello Everyone

Special K you're full of seldom, your post is so right and moving!

I can't say you how much I thank you for this blog. You allow us to talk freely and it's what really matter for me . You have created a such wonderful place and even if people have sometimes differents opinions , we come here to share something stronger which reunite us at the end!

As for the intolerants who troll here and there, I have pity for them cause they will never know what they lose.

    Never mind !

You have to be proud of this blog,
you promote diversity and it's what makes the world better IMO.

  14. Hi Guisi-poo! I thought you had completely given up on us. Thanks for the new video, I'll watch it tonight.

I don't think the Star story is necessarily a reaction to J&A and PoP pictures. They were the ones that claimed Jake was ring shopping with Reese in NY, so this is probably just part two of the story.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks Guisi-poo great to hear from you!

  16. So is this the same ring as the one he popped the question with in Rome? Or a bigger and better ring for when he did proposals #2, #3, and #4? Did he keep proposing with the same ring or did he get a new one each time for good karma? Is this engagement ring part of the set that was supposed to be for the wedding on Martha's Vineyard in September 2008? Or maybe it's a new one since that wedding didn't take place and insteaed was planned for December 2008? Oops but that December one was also postponed for Summer 2009. Which ring was Reese supposedly wearing at Lakers, the ring no paps saw even tho their cameras were crosshaired on Reeke before, during and after the entire game? And if she was wearing an engagement ring at Lakers then why was he shopping for engagement rings a month later at Fred Leighton's in NY? And why would he have to pop the question now or in Egypt if they are already planning that summer wedding that got postponed from last fall? Hell, why are they even planning a wedding if those rumors of them already being married are true? So many questions, so many proposals, so many rings! My god at least 4 by now! And so, so much bullshit!

  19. Strange coincidence to see this post today after reading someone on wft2complaining about their posts being deleted last night. Apparently it's okay to trash Jake and especially Austin and to say you're tired of reading stories about Jaustin or Reeke, but complaining about the amount of Heath/Jake fanfic is "trashing" Heath and not allowed.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Gosh, Austin would be ashamed he has fans like you.
His "Dapper Dan man" reference is a shout out to George Clooneys perfect acting in "Oh brother where art thou" by the Coens.

  21. The only one who give a cares about all these bs stories of engagement rings and weddings is you. You and maybe her fangirls, who have been thinking Reese is preggers for like 16 months now? Give it a rest, really it is soo soo boring that every little detail ever appearing on any stupid mag about Reese has to be revisited again and again on here I couldn't really care less if I did I would be on one of her sites, wouldn't I? Where they probably talk less about her than you do!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Knowing the timeline of stories isn't creepy obsessing, it's a necessary tool to help be aware of the bullshit, Reeke or otherwise. And where did you get I "hate them"? Methinks your a babbler and so you insult people when they remember all the conflicting stories.

  23. "Gosh, Austin would be ashamed he has fans like you. His "Dapper Dan man" reference is a shout out to George Clooneys perfect acting in "Oh brother where art thou" by the Coens."

Huh? We all knew that yesterday, where were you? Special put "Everett" right in there. Dapper Don made a comment. (Austin's middle name). Other comments. Maybe Austin would be ashamed of YOU for finally catching on what, 24 hours later?!

    ReplyDelete
  24. M, Elinor, Meg, Destiny, PG, Wicked and everyone thank you for the kind words.

PG thanks for being the OMG greeter. : )

Giusi - so awesome to see you again! And the video is wonderful thank you so much.

His "Dapper Dan man" reference is a shout out to George Clooneys perfect acting in "Oh brother where art thou" by the Coens.

Totally got that, big Coen Brother's fan here. Believe me. And would love to see Austin in one of their movies. It think he would do well in their style of movies. That's why in my post yesterday it said Everett. That was the name of Clooney's character.

I loved Austin's Joan Didion shout out since her book The White Album is a collection of her essays about life in California.

  25. OK Special and Wicked. "Stop Obsessing" and "Enough of Reese" didn't like my post and don't think anything about the Reeke ring story should be posted again. How do YOU TWO feel about it? Did either of you write those comments? Tell us now so we can know if its really how you feel or if it is an OMG regular being picky or if you agree with them or if its trolls, that way me and others won't comment on Reeke ring stories or whatever Reeke of the Week story it is. Help us figure out what you want us to comment on.

  26. Thanks Destiny and Meg and Special!! I have always followed this forum, but i did't wrote on it because I was a bit disappointed about Jake-Reese, but above all because I have had another baby and i have been for many months without my pc, but OMG is always one of my favourite blog *____*

  27. The only comment I wrote is the one with my name on it.

It is not up to us to decide what people talk about. We do not dictate what that should be.

OMG was created as Jake and Austin community. And we've branched out a bit from that.

People can post what they want. People can also post their opinion about they think about what others say. But hope it is done with courtesy and respect.

There will be people who will want to talk about Reeke, and there will be people who are going to say enough Reeke let's talk about something else.

It's all about finding the balance.

  37. Balance

There are people who are Reeke fatigued and they should be able to say that they are. It's all about finding away of saying that. And for others finding away of respecting that sentiment.

    But its all about balance.

So those who tired of Reeke talk, one thing you can do is bring up things you want to talk about.

Maybe like the awesome video Giusi made, or something you would like to chat about. What Jake is going to do for Austin's birthday? Austin going back to finish up at OTH? Wondering if Austin kept the same socks on while changing three different times in the car?

For those who want to talk about Reeke, talk about it, but respect other conversations.

And if deleting "take a pill" then "If you don't like Reeke well, goodbye to you again until Austin and Jake shows up but DO NOT INSULT others or me because you don't like it." should be deleted too. See how that all starts. It's a slippery slope. Soon everything is deleted for one reason or another.
    We don't do that.

Balance people Balance. Balance. From all sides of our community.

  38. Thanks for the very nice comment Joker. I love seeing you post.

Congrats on the baby guisi and thanks for the video. It was great.

I like the openness of the blog. For people like me who are so up and down when it comes to Jake I can understand why people may say things they may regret later. I can also underdtand why people may dissappear for a while. reeke has been tough to deal with. It has been so dissappointing to watch for the last two years.

Chris you have become a great part of the site. Dont let others comments bother you. But it is nice you defended your friends. I hate talking about reeke too though and am going to try and ignore it from now on.

Hey PR girl you are a perfect greeter. So awesome that you are a part of OMG.

Yep! Wicked and Spesh sure do a great job.

  39. The Mysteries of Pittsburgh Gets a Trailer

The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, Michael Chabon's 1988 novel which explores both gay and straight love/lust in the context of a bisexual love triangle and a post-college summer, is finally coming to the big screen after premiering at Sundance in January. It gets a limited release at the end of March. The trailer (Peter Sarsgaard pictured above) was released today.

I think people should talk about what they want as long as they don't name call and/or insult others. I am strongly anti-censorship. I did not write either of those comments. I will confess that it absolutely enrages me to the point of wanting to go ballistic when someone tells someone else what to talk about or what not to talk about on this blog.

Giusi, congrats on the baby and thanks for the vid. It is so good to see you around here.

PS, thanks for the info on The Mysteries of Pittsburgh. I look forward to the this movie. Michael Chabon is one of my favorite authors.

  42. Totally off topic:

Boston is all kind of crazy tonight.

U2 is playing in a small theater in Somerville just north of the city. For 900 people (sorry Destiny pesky extra zero before) and they had about 10,000 show up in Davis Square outside the theater.

Boston's WCBN was the first radio station in the US to play them, and U2 loves to come back Boston, especially as close to St. Patrick's Day as they can.

  43. Hi Guys,

Great post today - thanks Special, we know the drill around here when it comes to trolls, but I know I slip at times too, so it doens't hurt to be reminded of balance, keeping things in perspective and to scroll on by the posts you don't want to read, but I have to say I enjoy them all, everyone here contributes something great.

Congrats to PG on becoming OMG's official good will ambassador, which she always is, great attitude. Nice to see some familiar faces like Guisi come back, congrats on your new baby Guisi! Hello to Joker and EV! And if Frenchy is around, hello to you too, miss you!

I admit there's been a little fatigue, but the new Jaustin biking pics were worth the wait, and I am really enjoying reading Austin's blogging. He really has a way with words. :)

Thanks Special for the post about commenting. Sometimes I think my comments are too sharp as I'm not a Jake fan and may offend some. I'll try to keep my "negativity" under control! Some days I just don't have the time to post as RL gets too hectic but I do check the comments almost everyday.

The deletion and discussion policy is pretty clear. We want to delete as minimally as possible and allow people to talk freely as much as possible, without name calling or insults. I have Cheez-Its, Peanuts & Red Hots, cold & refreshing Citrus Green Teas, Harry & David truffles, and a choice of complimentary nail file kits, microfiber lens cleaning cloth, plastic raincap, notepads, or a Toothybrush, all with the official OMG logo on them.

    lol

Actually, I interpreted Ringworm's comment as hilarious & yet very true. Spot on. So I'm not sure why it was interpreted as fangirlish because it was nothing like that. It's awful that all this stuff is taking place on a day when Special made a really, really nice Post.

When it gets down to namecalling, rude & personal comments, foul language, and unfounded (or founded for that matter) accusations, that's when it gets just waaaay too serious.

Neither Jake nor Austin nor Reese nor any celebrity is worth the anger, the angst, the ugly words, the hate, or the loss of friendship. It's not.

Chris, I would hate to lose you or your friend as commenters. You're clever and you're funny. And you've been supportive of me (sorry to use that word). But I will defend Special & Wicked to no end. Against anyone. They have been nothing but classy & tolerant. And they run about the fairest blog without letting it get crass.

Someone got a stepladder so I can get off my soapbox now?

  53. flf, lol. Hey, I didn't realize you weren't a Jake fan. That's interesting. Hey, it takes all kinds to spin the globe. Did you use to be, though?

Man, look at the time. Worked late, spent nearly 1/2 hr chatting & griping away with my cubemate, went to a bar & grill to join co workers in a goodbye send off, stopped to walk and got home not too long ago. It's practically time to go to bed!! What in the heck is going on. Okay, & get this. So I get to my park to walk and at 18:30, guess who drives through. You got it. I am seriously, seriously thinking of walking at a different park for just a little while. Throw that guy off.

Hey netb, you should see my green lights! Got green lights in the windows and little shamrock lights going on. We are lit up in green, I'm not kidding you. I love my St. Patty's decorations. Had a real Irish dinner last year at a friend's house. Corned beef & cabbage, soda bread; it was the best! First time that I ever had corned beef & cabbage.

I'm still a little stunned. How could we go from such a happytown on Friday to what happened today??? It'd serve us right if Wicked & Special said "Forget it!" and drop kicked us into the next year.

  55. I was beginning to think Mysteries would never see the light of day, although I'm not sure this is a good thing.

Chabon is just about my favorite writer, and I love Peter Saarsgaard, but I really have a bad feeling about the movie version of Mysteries of Pittsburgh. First of all, they combined two of the 3 key characters, Arthur and Cleveland, into one person, and they've apparently beefed up the the part of the character played by Sienna Miller. Watching the trailer it looks like they really played down the bi/gay story. Finally, this movie finished filming something like 2 years ago, a delay like that with an art film is never a good sign.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Wow PG, that sounds great - St. Patrick's Day is one of my fave holidays.

I was intrigued by Mysteries too, Dest, but not if they are going to change it so drastically like that. I haven't read the book, not familiar with it. Peter was so good in The Dying Gaul.

I saw NG around the other day, and forgot to say hello - so hello, NorwegianGirl! :)

    Nite!

  57. Okay, gotta go. Gotta go turn in. ECF!!!!! How are you?

My "Monster's Ball" came in the mail today. I have not seen that one. I just want to see Heath's opening performance since I've heard alot of good things about it. I'm not sticking around, though, because I know that his character, Sonny, dies in it. I don't know if they show it or not, but I'm skipping that part.

Okay, well, hope everyone's doing better. I'm going to shoot off a few emails and then it's off to slumberland. Sweet dreams, everyone, and let's wipe the slate clean. Start afresh tomorrow.
    We all get a do-over.

  58. I've tried to read Chabon several times since everyone raves about him, but I have never been able to get into his writing style. But I really liked The Wonder Boys movie, so hopefully I will like this one too.

Ent lawyer has a pic of Reese next to that blue thing, which forgive me I think looks like a penis. The caption is "appears Reese and her imaginary friend had an argument". It refers to her facial expression but Ent lawyer chose the pic to use so I wonder if it has a double meaning.

  59. Wicked "Allow people to talk freely as much as possible, without name calling or insults."

And what is this from EV tb, a compliment, a disagreement? No, it is an insult:

"Ring Worm, please take a pill."

But it wasn't deleted was it.

Roomie Chris is pretty pissed. Me, I'll have to think about it. I find it weird you don't delete comments that insult people who are on the same side, why would a tb'er/Jaustinite (EV) put down another tb'er/Jaustinite (me) who is obviously pointing out the engagement ring/wedding plan flaws of bearding PR/Reeke? They wouldn't, which is what makes EV's comment not a different opinion, it was venom without reason. Unless maybe EV is a babbler and that was the best response to the ring PR they could come up with?

    flf thankx.

Btw my creaky brother was over and he saw the posts. He got a big new rock and he was going to throw it at you but now he says why waste the energy, I agree.

Is this an inside joke or intended to be a funny and it's just gone over my head? Or is it meant seriously and aimed at the hosts here? If it's meant seriously, it might be a good time to call it a night, Ringworm.

I know I said 'nite but I had to make one more check. And now I think I'm joining everyone else in pulling the drapes closed on this one.

    And then there was one.

  61. My advice, beware of wolves in sheep's clothing.

Prairie Girl, new chapter of Stranded. Off to read slash now.

  62. No PG, I was never a Jake fan. I don't consider myself to be anyone's "fan"! I liked Jake in the old days because he seemed different from the usual HW actors. And I also liked BBM a lot but Heath more than Jake in it. Any respect I had for Jake went out the window when he started bearding.

I do think that Jake & Austin make a real cute couple. :)

  63. I hear what you're saying, m. I seem to always learn that the hard way.

Sometimes bridges are burned down to a crisp and looks like one was ridiculously burned yesterday. Or maybe it was just waiting to happen all along. Scary about the internet sometimes. Just like everything else in life, something good is misused for ulterior intent or just plain ol human ugliness. There's no other word for it. No other excuse for it.

Okay, that's cool, flf. I like your frankness. They do make an awesome couple, huh.
    :)

Thanks for the heads up, m. I will be catching up on that one, for sure.

Hey, that video clip with Austin on it about OTH is great if just to watch Austin and his hands. It's on Spooky2th's journal.

    Okay, well, toothbrush is calling.

Let's begin this day with alot of love, everyone. That was no way to end it yesterday. I embrace Special & Wicked with all I've got this morning.

  64. Chabon is just about my favorite writer, and I love Peter Saarsgaard, but I really have a bad feeling about the movie version of Mysteries of Pittsburgh.

My favorite Chabon book is The Amazing Adventures of Cavalier and Clay. That is the one I would really love to see made into a movie.

  65. That is hands-down my favorite book of all time. It's always a point of contention for me that I haven't been able to get my gf to read it yet. :-D

I would love to see a movie made out of it, but I'm also afraid that they would ruin it. You know that old saw about good books making bad movies and vice versa. I could really see Adrian Brody in it.

  66. M, have you ever tried reading this one? It takes some time to get into it, but it is worth it. In addition to capturing New York over a number of decades and the comic book industry, I think it is one of the most romantic books ever written.

There's so much in the book. It would be really tough. I'd like to see someone try. Lots of great roles for actors.

  68. Great roles, and some great scenes. One of the ones that always sticks with me is on top of the Empire State Building. I remember Chabon talking about working on the script when I saw him speak a while back. I just checked IMDB and it has a director Stephen Daldry (The Hours, The Reader), but that is about it. I have to say I don't think he's the right director for something like this.
