Neighborly Day in This Beautywood

First things first.

Happy 2nd Anniversary Austin Nichols Journal.

Spooky posted yesterday a message later in the day about ANJ's anniversary, OMG wants to congratulated ANJ, Spooky and Vesperlynd for all their hard work, wonderful posts and pictures, and thank them for the all their friendship and support in our fanship of Austin. You guys are great. Here's to another great year.

Hope you get a chance to stop over at ANJ to give best wishes.

I admit when I am wrong, and I am admitting to it today. Love and Other Drugs did film yesterday when I thought they wouldn't. Guess there is a higher authority and it's looks like the studio.

So Jake was filming two scenes for in the Pittsburgh suburb of Aliquippa on Monday. Former Aliquippa Hospital was the was the setting for a the scene that was supposed to happen in a rain storm but as production started the real rain stopped and the movie magic had to step in to create the downpour Jake had to dashing in for the second scene of the day, with a few fans catching him on the then closed set. Earlier Jake filmed with Oliver Platt, sitting in a black Mercedes Benz with Oliver at the wheel while locals watched.

Atti is going some bi-coastal this fall and enjoying the PA mountains and trees, but he was not impressed with watching his Pops dodge raindrops so enjoyed the comfort of the trailer.

It looked like Jake had an opportunity for a little Brothers PR, but didn't when a bystander said Hey Spider-Man,” when he shook Jake’s hand.

“Did you like ‘Spider-Man 3’?” Gyllenhaal asked politely, not letting on that it was Tobey Maguire who played that superhero role.

Jake has been winning over Pittsburghers since he's started filming. "He's been out and about, so much so that it seems as if everyone -- or their friend -- has spotted the Hollywood star." according to the Post-Gazette.

Jake with fan, Talituna, one of the girls from the Hillel Academy waiting to see Jake film in Squirrel Hill.

He's been seen in The Strip District for coffee, Squirrel Hill, Downtown bars, out at the Pirates game (hey thanks WDW) and of many restaurants in the Shadyside neighborhood. One little glitch was when he and others were 15 minutes too early for lunch service at the Mark Your Mark Artspace & Coffeehouse and didn't hang around to wait. The owner didn't recognize a low key Jake out grabbing a bite. “My husband doesn’t know a superstar from the next guy. If someone else had been behind the counter, we would have opened up the kitchen,” said co-owner Amy Siebert . But the others sure know who he is, from the line of cougars waiting for him at Squirrel Hill, to the ladies at the Jewish Community Center, and all the students in the local colleges and universities.

Chatham University junior Kayla Hilko was waiting to put her name in for a table at Pamela's Shadyside restaurant recently, when a good-looking man standing ahead of her caught her eye. "I looked at him and thought, 'Whoa, that guy's kind of cute,' " she said, laughing. "Then he turned to the side, and I said to my friend, 'That's Jake Gyllenhaal!' and she just laughed at me." After she and her friend, finished their late breakfast, "she couldn't resist asking the hunky actor to pose for a photo: "I grabbed his arm but not like a stalker ... he was, like, 'Sure.' " "Which is how the photo of a smiling Miss Hilko, a smiling Mr. Gyllenhaal and a smiling Josh Gad -- another actor in the film -- ended up as the photo of the day on Chatham University's intranet Web site."

Sound like Jake is finding the spirit of Pittsburgh native the late Mr. Rogers.

He does like those kinds of sweaters. Don't know if he could pull off Fred's Keds though.

Make me wonder who would Austin be in the neighborhood.

King Friday XII? No - relatively egocentric, irrational, resistant to change, and temperamental, although open-minded , but gives long winded speeches.

X the Owl? Well its a bird, and Jake likes owls and birds. Eager and cheerful and has a strong desire to learn new things.

My money's on Daniel Striped Tiger. A shy introvert who lives in a clock. Despite his shyness, Daniel exhibits phenomenal wisdom and intelligence when he does speak (he discerns the root of Lady Elaine's bad behavior). He has a close friendship with Lady Aberlin, with whom she often nuzzles his nose and says 'Ugga Mugga'." And of course he has a thing for old watches.

Yeah Austin could be Mr. McFeely but honestly don't think he is a Speedy Delivery kind of guy. ; )

And Lady Elaine - who would be the outspoken, cranky schemer Lady Elaine in the Neighborhood of Make Believe? Hmmm

  3. With so many colleges and universities in Pittburgh including several great art school, Pittsburgh does have some funkiness to it that might surprise the cast. Of course Sienna Miller famously called it Shitsburgh when she was filming the Mysteries of Pittsburgh there with Peter. Bet that Peter did let Jake know some of his favorite places maybe when Jake went up to visit that weekend.

Tweet gossip that Jake was staying a hotel but with Atti tending to think that he's found something to rent that's homier for everybody.

    Jake being seen around the
'burgh so much pretty much a sure thing that he will make it to a Pitt, Steeler, or Penguin(hockey) game before things wrap.

  4. Brother's Premiere in Ireland?

The Diary can reveal that plans are afoot to stage an Irish premiere of Jim Sheridan's new blockbuster movie Brothers in a bid to light up the Dublin scene this winter.

Oscar-winning director Jim explained how the release date had now been set for his long-awaited movie, which he described as a "love story", and he hopes to be rolling out the red carpet in Ireland.

"Its official release date is December so we're going to have a proper premiere in New York for that, but what I really want is to have a premiere in Ireland as well, probably in late November.

And we've found that the premiere here in the US will be in NYC.

  5. It strikes me as odd that Atticus is there. I think the only other time Jake had him with him was while filming JarHead. But Atty is quite a bit older now so maybe Jake wants to enjoy his time with him while he can.

  6. I didn't want Blondie walking me she pulls.

  7. Is the mention of Atticus a response to fan speculation/concern about Jake not spending enough time with him?

The fact that Austin is not around?

That LAOD is shooting clear across the country?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Atticus in Pittsburgh is response to Reese's offer to walk him from time to time.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Could mean that Jake's staying on the East Coast after LaOD finishes up since Austin is East Coast based now, and picked up the family and came East. And like M said, Atti is getting up there, and think Jake misses him and wants to spend time with him. Think of that picture of Atti and Jake in the lounge chair stretched out and can see why he wants his Atti boy.

  10. I think it is great he has Atticus with him. But I find it funny how the first mention we bet of Atticus is also the first mention of Reese. No twitters of him walking the dog, sightings of him at Jake's trailer before now, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Does 1 mention by a gossip columnist of Atticus inside a trailer sight unseen mean he's actually there? If he is, then why weren't there any Pittsburgh sightings or tweets of Jake with his dog in the last 2 weeks? IMO it sounds more like creative writing and good PR.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Could Jake be staying in the burbs with a yard for Atticus.

  15. Yes there were tweets of her there Sunday and Monday. She is back in Philly filming today.

I find it hard to believe that Atticus is in Pittsburgh, no sightings. Maybe his PA is walking him.

The last time Jake had Atticus and Boo with him filming was when he was filming Zodiac, there are pics on set at IHJ sightings.

  17. If you click on the link of Jake in Aliquippa in the post you will see it is a newspaper write up not a gossip site about filming for what its worth. And it's a little county paper not the Pitt Post Gazette.

Aliquippa is about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh. Maybe because it's kind of rural and a small town that's why he could have brought Atti. And didn't sound like it was a huge cast or crew either.

Here's one for the PR that most here think have time to convince readers of this site.

  24. I have absolutely no qualms about believing Reese is there. Nor that Atticus is there. Would be nice to have pics but HEY! They are in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is not exactly paparazzi-ville. Let's all remember that. Not exactly a hotbed for the paps.

Thus, we rely on the ol' twitters.

  27. I think it is interesting that they've decided to drop all the pap photos in places like Philly and Pittsburgh. I guess it has finally sunk in that arranged photos in places like that just make them look bad.

I kind of miss that Philly pap guy, he was funny.

I don't why but all these animal pictures make me think of the photos on DListed of Mel Gibson with a beaver on his arm for some movie Jodie Foster is directing. I don't know why she's chosen to work with him. He's a homophobic, anti-Semitic hypocrite who advocates for an extreme version of Catholicism, all while running around on his wife.

  28. LOL no one wants to admit what Tom himself said about Twitters. Talk about censorship. It's ok to fantasize about anything here or talk about Reeke being real or Austin and Sophia dating but heaven help you if you quote Tom about Twitter or make a remark about the effects of him boycotting the blog because of Twitter. Your comment will be deleted for sure! What pathetic hypocrites you are. Statements that you let stand and keep on record, but delete if they are repeated and quoted by a third party. Can't face it, can you?

I don't know what was said up there and it's probably best I don't know.

Anyone who personally attacks recognizable OMG members by name whether they still comment or not, in my opinion, is someone really just to be pitied. Then forgiven. Then forgotten. That's it. Simple as that. Don't even care to know you.

  38. Bought some orange LED lights at Wal Mart tonight while dropping off a prescrip for my folks. Those LED lights are something else. They are so vivid.

True, we did have EJ concert pictures. And we had a few walking around the city con coffee cups if I recall correctly. But you have to admit, the onslaught has quieted.

I agree with you, Destiny, in that perhaps it finally sank in that it really looked ridiculous. As if paps would be waiting in droves outside a Pittsburgh PA restaurant waiting for camera shots.

And this is no diss on Pittsburgh. I would love to visit there someday. It's a blue collar city and I am a blue collar type gal so it is right up my ally. And if they have good fast food places, lol, hey, I'm there in a heart beat.

  42. "But you have to admit, the onslaught has quieted."

I don't think so at all. Reeke had little opportunity to arrange photo ops because there are no paps in Philly and Pit. Even with that we still got some pics of Jake on set with Deacon. Same with pics of Jake on set in Pit. Supposed to be a closed set, but we still got pics of him filming. I do agree that Reeke toned it down in PA because I do think that their PR read the backlash comments of the Reeke photo op in Europe, especially the Prado which has absolutely no paps around ever-actually the Spanards would find such a thing distasteful. Reese returned true to form as soon as she got back to LA. She barely let the plane land before she arranged her first photo op of her coming out of pilates class. I'm betting if there is a way that Reeke can have a photo op while Jake is filming, I'm sure they will. As PR whore, is a PR whore after all.

  46. Maybe a lot didn't get the Mr. Rogers reference today but Fred Rogers was from Pittsburgh and his show Mr. Roger's Neighborhood was a a significant influence on American kids growing apart of the the Public Broadcasting System children's programming which included Sesame Street and Electric Company. It was the second longest running series of PBS, to Sesame Street. Started in 1968 the show could be seen in reruns until Sept 2008, when it was removed for PBS syndication. The show reached children teaching them with respect and sensitivity. The characters were from the Make Believe Neighborhood. My favorite was Daniel, and Lady Elaine was the meanest. She once moved the entire museum because she didn't want anyone else to enjoy. Through the show Fred Rogers taught American children that they were special, they were important and they need to treat others with respect.

What you may not know about Mr. Rogers - he was a vegetarian.

  47. WOW. So it's okay to spew unwarranted accusations to people of being Babblers/Trolls but when the people defend themselves, their posts get deleted? But all of the mean, taunting troll-insinuating and Babbler name-calling posts just happen to stay on the blog? Makes me wonder if those posts were made by Special herself.

When stuff like this has happened before I let it go. But now it's obvious. When it's allowed, even encouraged, to name-call and throw around Babbler and Troll names to posters who are NOT discussing anything near to Jake and Reese being real AKA Reeke, it's like a rabbi letting people come into a synagogue and accuse devout Jews of being Hitler-loving Nazis.

Shame on you. I am out of here. Hope the 4 of you who are left enjoy talking to yourselves.

  50. Okay, so I got back on here and took down that rather triumphant comment, lol. That was a humdinger, too.

You know, I would love to leave that up but I'm not going down that path again. I swear, I'm not going there and I almost did. My temper always gets the best of me but you know what? Tonight it's not worth it.

And I'm not saying this to get sympathy or to get anyone to feel bad. I'm saying this because this is why that kind of stuff up there ^^^ just is so stupid and unnecessary.

I got some bad news on my dad when I stopped by the house after the visitation tonight and that is that because he's so anemic, they're suspending his chemo. He's got to have a blood transfusion on Thurs and hopefully get himself righted and strong again. Yes,I'm very sad but I'm not mad and I'm not shaking my fist at anyone. Because my family has been so darn blessed, it's not funny.
I'm still going to think good thoughts but I don't have my head in the sand either. You kind of know when cancer is kicking somebody's butt, you know?

So, I'm just saying that I don't have it in me tonight to leave my comment up there. Probably alot of tonight's news came out in that. And it's so what I don't want to be about.

It's all so, so unimportant, you guys. Life is too precious. It's too short.

Just let it go, will ya? Leave Special the heck alone and everybody just leave everybody else the heck alone.

  53. ((sigh)) I feel it all the way over here and it's nice.

Thank goodness things quieted down last night. Really a shame because it was the most unnecessary microburst we've had yet.

Has anyone been to their local Borders lately? Does it seem all confused to you? A bit of a mess?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Our local Borders is messy. And they act like they're phasing out dvd's and music, yet they consistently offer 40% coupons on them. It just doesn't make sense. They also look like they've really just plain reduced their inventory. It puzzles me.

I went back and re-read everything up there from the beginning of the day and the pattern is amazing.

Commenters casually talking about the Pittsburgh set, Atticus, whether or not Reese was there, and then
BOOM! all of a sudden, someone pokes their head in and starts trouble.

I'm sorry but what does that tell you? This is the trend every time. Commenters minding their own business on here and somebody who simply can't stand to see anyone on OMG having a good day has to spread their inner unhappiness, jealousy, insecurity, whichever it is.

asdf, sorry to see you go. I don't know what in the heck I ever did to you but hey, guess it was all in the typing. And all I can say is if it is just four of us left? Grand! I love these people and at least I know us 4 (lol, whichever us 4 is being referred to, take your pick) can have a great time.

And if it is just 4 of us left? I guess it was a big 5 before asdf left, now it's 4, then I think I can pretty much rest assured that no one, and I mean no one is going to lurk anymore. Peek in. Special, today you ought to only have hits from only 3 other cities.

And if that's the case, then certainly no one is going to care what in the heck 4 people say. We ought to be able to just run free with scissors around here!! woohoo!! Say whatever we want! Cause no one cares! No one's looking anymore. Everyone's done. Given up. Tired. Quit. On to other things. Bored. Fed up.

I don't want to hear anymore about sitemeter hits from all over the globe anymore because it sounds like OMG is the Insignificant Little Blog with only 4 commenters. Should not matter at all to anybody anymore.

That they are all supportive and playing roles just so that Jake can continue his career and move toward the A-list without the world learning the truth about him.
That he is gay. Even subjecting young children, Reese's children and Maggies daughter to this fake romance. Even going as far as hanging out in Brooklyn together and making sure somebody snaps a photo of them with a cell-phone.

On the flip side dozen's of people who live in wilmington NC, all the cast and crew and friends of Sophia's are all supporting and lying as well, to keep Austin's secret and promote a 7 yr CW show that draws a little over 2.5million viewers.

It's one thing to beard, it happens. But it's another thing when families, children, and cast and crew as well as citizens of a small town are all in on it. It's those things that make this way to extreme and not believable.

It's to extreme at this point, it's gone far beyond typical bearding. Several no-name girlfriends (see George Clooney) would have done the task.

LOL, what are you babbling about?

    Bearding isn't cocaine smuggling!

Bearding is good PR. Good PR is good for business and making more money - you bet that Reese's family supports bearding 1000%!

Jake is part of his family.

They love him, support him and tolerate the beard for his sake. Simple.

Ryan Phillippe knows how Hollywood works - he will never out Jake and humiliate the mother of his kids.

  79. passingby,

nice to know that you're selling Austin and Sophia "romance" in order to turn Jake straight.

  80. Wow, you bring back such memories Spesh - kids loved Mr. Rogers. I used to watch with my baby bro, Sesame Street, Electric Company and Mr. Rogers and I would get caught up in them - Sesame Street had cool music and humor, and I loved Mr. Rogers' plays and operas too. Fave characters - King Friday, Lady Aberlin and Henrietta Pussycat. I could appreciate Lady Elaine Fairchilde too. :)

Glad to hear all of these interesting places in Pittsburgh, would love to visit.

  82. Jake could beard and not be bearding this way, this isn't how it works.

Yes, this is how it works when

    * you and your beard have the same manager

    * you and your beard are working on the same Oscar worthy movie

    * the beard is a high profile actress who wants a fake bf

    * you want zero risk - Reese will never talk about bearding, she has as much to lose as Jake.

  83. . . . and sadly see it is all just a meltdown by people claiming to be regular posters who were driven off. I think I know who you are, and I think you are moles for pr. You pretended for awhile to be regular posters, using different names over time, but I recognized the style over the years, then got hissy about a few things awhile back, now you come back to do this.

Never did get around to adressing this "comment", but better late than never I suppose.

    1. Who are you adressing, Destiny? Do you realize how paranoid that sounds - out of all of the people online at a given time, you know exactly who is posting and that they are PR assigned to "spying" on OMG 24/7? Sadly, all it is is someone obsessed with this topic and spending way too much time online.

    2. Hissy fits - everyone on here has had a hissy fit at one time or another.

I post this because it is an example of one of the regulars stirring and causing trouble. You are right, it's not just trolls and Babblers.

    Bullshit.

Give yourself a name and stick to it if you aren't a troll.

    Well? I thought so.

Don't fall back on that tired old argument - I don't believe some of you always use your regular screennames.
