Square Meal

Another serving of Turkey, with sides of an early (ok fake)snow, and talking about family conflicts it sounds like Thanksgiving dinner.

Main Course:

The threesome became a foursome when Flat Stanley joined Austin, Milo and Sophia at a signing in Germany. What a lucky guy. Wonder where Flat Stanley will be off to next. Think they were so kind to let him share a ride to Turkey?

One thing we do know for sure is that is Austin is not only proud of his American roots but his Texans one too, wearing a Lone Star tshirt that will be in who know how many photo albums around the world. And he has a topic of conversation with every Texan who is serving on base. Sure there were horns thrown many times. Now that's a picture I'd love to see.

Snow Falling on Pittsburgh - (it doesn't have the same ring as Cedars does it)

Sunday Jake and Anne filmed at Magee Hospital, when you need winter you make it turning it into a winter wonderland Sunday. A little Hollywood magic and presto! Snow. Now we know why there was a Sunday shooting schedule. Magee is an working hospital, like all hospitals it's open 24/7. So Sunday's are the best, no appoinments, just the emergency room and in patients, and essential personnel. Love has made the most of Pittsburgh's area hospitals for various locations, and it does give an authenticity to the life of a drug rep.

Here's Jake and Anne filming another scene in Shadyside this past week.

Here's part 2 of an interview with Jake about Brothers. Here he discusses director Jim Sheridan, what it was like working with him, his reaction to the original film, the differences between this version and the original, and what the movie says about families in general.

  1. From Ted today "Dear Ted:
Any chance one of the actors or actresses on One Tree Hill (the show so bad it's good) has a B.V.? Or perhaps one of them is now dating a famous Blind Vicer—say, Grey Goose?

    Dear Too Obvious:
Duh. One Tree Hill'ers have been the subjects of B.V.s. They're regular heathens over there!

I think the duh says it all.

  2. The Brothers set:

How did the stars stay sane on set? “We definitely needed the lightness to deflate the intensity,” Portman said of the cast’s attempts at humor between takes. “Jake would make [director] Jim [Sheridan] say things in his Irish accent that amused us; like the word third, he says turd, so that provided pretty endless amusement.”

  3. IHJ has the online version of the extra interview up.

When you watch that one it becomes clear Jake slipped up with the "this job" part even more than just seeing it in print.
He catches his own mistake before he even finishes the word job and corrects himself.

And I don't think we're the only ones who caught it. In the TV version Extra has the interview start with "It's a part of the job".

We’re not even sure why the magazines keep pushing it, but this couple who are said to be romantically involved, are actually nothing but. Sure, they’re having fun playing with the press, but it’s mostly because they are told it would be a good marketing strategy for their career. Everyone around them knows however, that they are just good friends, not lovers. One in all the media buzz is actually rumored to swing the other way.

    Not Chace Crawford.

    Thanks Jake!

  7. I have a question. When you look at the group of pictures that says Premiere Cocktail party, Jake is wearing two different shirts. The grey tee and a blue dress shirt.

It looks like the pictures with the blue dress shirt are from the press conference in the afternoon.

    Love this picture

  9. Great minds think alike LOL. I was just going to post it, and saw you put up the link thanks.

And Jake's funny and a little flirty with Ben Lyons. He still hasn't lost his charm.

    Little flirty? ;)

  11. ^^ Was this guy nervous in Jake's presents? Sweating? Wiping his face?

Wow Jake. I guess you still have it huh?

  12. Was it just me or was Jake being a condescending jerk to my friend Ben Lyons? What the hell? Ben is truly one of the nicest guys and gave Brothers a really gushing review and trust me he was not appreciating being the butt of Jake's jokes to his sycophants.

  13. Don't think Jake was being a jerk I think he was bantering with Ben all in good fun. He didn't seem any different in that intervew than he did for Access or for Extra.

ITA with you SK. I think Jake was totally relaxed and enjoying the interview. It seemed like he liked Ben. I think Bens sweating was due to the lighting. I was impressed with Jakes remark about Nixon sweating in the famous Nixon vs Kennedy debate. Jake knows his politics. That debate took place in 1960.

  15. Jake seemed sharp as a tack in the interview whereas I thought he was almost incoherent at the Brothers premiere press conference. Very weird.

  16. I just watched and Jake was just being charming. It sounded like they knew each other or had done other interviews before. Is Lyons straight or gay? Based on that big smile he flashed, he looked like he was hooked.

  17. Jersey Tom, after doing a bunch of interviews, Jake probably has the spiel down a lot better. He was rusty before, not having spoken in quite some time.

Which one was that, Tom? The only Brothers press conference I've seen is the little video Wells put up on his site and it was only Tobey speaking.

  19. Jake spoke at the press conferenc too, if you check Stephen Schaefer's blog you can see his response to the questions that afternoon.

  20. It must have been Jim's Irish brogue that charmed Jake. ; )

  23. Hey Tom, crazy couple of days for me, and now it is very late. But I am off tomorrow to shop and start cooking, have 12 people in total for Thanksgiving, so while my pies are in the oven I will get back to you about Adam.

  24. Mare Hugs Jake
    ...
And usually when someone is hugging Jake Gyllenhaal I am thinking about being them rather than hugging them back. I'm just sayin'.

So yeah, I met Jake Gyllenhaal.

    Also rare, outsized, superhuman...

He looks exactly the same offscreen as on (which isn't always the case for better and for worse). I don't advise, if you are a mere mortal like myself, to stand next to celebrities and be photographed. You will just feel so... pathetically human. I don't normally do it (this is only the second time but the first was with Julianne Moore years ago and in both cases, I couldn't not. I'm only human). He was friendly and after I paid him the mandatory compliments that probably sounded like weird if familiar gibberish to him (I'm guessing) we chatted very briefly about Brothers and the Danish film its based on -- yes, he's seen it --before we took this photo. Then I let him loose on the next person who was desperate to talk to him. They were also human.

  25. I just watched the interview with Ben Lyons but I have no sound. I got a strong feeling that they were not only enjoying this interview, but were kind of crushing on each other. I can hardly wait to hear it and see if the tone is any different.

  26. Ben is straight.

    I love a challenge.
