Why was Jake in Jersey? It wasn't to see Springsteen. But to see a group of people who bring better sight to those in need..
In the middle of a worldwind of promotion Jake took the time out to visit New Eyes for the Needy,in the Millburn/Short Hills area. He stopped by to visit with the staff and volunteers that work to help "purchases new eyeglasses for poor children and adults in the United States and recycles donated glasses for distribution to indigent people in developing nations worldwide."
New Eyes has made a huge impact with their work, improving the eyesight over 7 million people in the US and around the World in the 78 years since it began.
Susan Dyckman, the Executive of New Eyes for the Needy, talk about Jake's involvement "Jake has been a great advocate for New Eyes for several years now," "He has been instrumental to New Eyes’ fundraising through his help in gaining foundation grants - and with his celebrity, he has raised national awareness of New Eyes by promoting our cause in magazine profiles."

But Jake's not stopping there, it looks like he will be visiting Jersey more often.
"Jake has agreed to chair the newly formed Advisory Committee for New Eyes. We are lucky and happy to have Jake on our side- encouraging us and believing in the work we do!"
It is refreshing to see a celebrity support a charity and not use it as a promotional opportunity for themselves. It could have been just as easy for Jake use this for his own promotion, and let New Eyes' mission and purpose lost in the crush of PoP promotion.
It says something about the kind of person he is, going quietly went to meet and personally thank those who work so hard and renew his commitment to the work they are doing , and have it known much after the fact, when the focus can be placed on the charity, and not the celebrity.
Check out more pictures of Jake's visit to New Eyes.

Awww, what a great charity to be involved in. I love the pic with the little girl. :)
ReplyDeleteHaving worked with adults with developmental disabilities I am always glad to see companies, groups and charities that see how they can contribute and make a difference in their organizations. Seeing Jake meeting them at New Eyes reminded me of that.
ReplyDelete....
Years ago working in Boston we used to get a lot of sports stars who would come and visit the kids. One future Hall of Famer would slip in late in the afternoon, unannounced, he would come in, in his street clothes, his uniform tucked in his bag. Now he did do official events with there lots of press but this was different. He'd change into his uniform and visit the kids and families, sign autographs, encourage them, make their day , change back into his street clothes and slipping away. No recognized him out of uniform.
Asked why he didn't want people to know about the visits, he always said "this isn't about me this is about the kids." That always stayed with me.
It makes sense to me that when planning for surrogacy and the child's care and future, attorneys, managers, etc all sorts of professional people would be consulted to make provisions, plans for all contingencies. The "except for Toothy part"? Jake is the wild card. He is the one who can change the rules instantly by deciding to come out and so is an element not controllable to the nth degree. Maybe that is what Ted means.
ReplyDeleteI agree, m. Jake is the main reason for all the smoke and mirror deceptions and elaborate "planning" by professionals to keep everything hush-hush. I would even suggest that this "power bottom" is fully on top when it comes to setting the pace and the exposure of the relationship. Arrangements can change, as everyone found out when Jake was shafted by his "one and only" back in November. His higher visibility and Hollywood status makes him the center of the universe in this regard. Bet he probably likes it that way too.

ReplyDeleteCan't pass up an opportunity to take a critical jab at Jake huh M and M? Power bottom? Who told you this or let me guess, you were there right?
Question, how old is this baby that youall talk about? I think it's crazy as hell.
You have to show me the baby then I'll believe he/she exist.
Another Question, how long will you go on with the baby idea if one don't show up in say five years. It would be really insane to be here talking about a baby noone has seen when years are passing without a glimpse.
Kind of Crazy.
Jake may indeed like it that way, but it is not good for a child.
ReplyDeleteUh oh, I think M & M just outed herself as being part of that brigade who are titilated by boy/boy sex and the positions they get up to. Oh and it's also insulting to Jake.
ReplyDeleteCan't pass up an opportunity to take a critical jab at Jake
ReplyDeleteLook up the distinction between a playful jab and a critical one. Even more importantly, why would someone being a power bottom, be an insult? Sounds to me like you should be exploring your own "issues." Btw: I don't think Jake needs any defending.
you were there right?
Guess you will just have to continue to speculate on that one.
I think it's crazy as hell.

Your prerogative.
How long will you go on with the baby idea if one don't show up in say five years?
The more intriguing question is how long will someone who thinks the idea of Jake having a baby is so outlandish, will continue to frequent a blog where others defer in their opinion? That is a far more perplexing query than the one you posed. Maybe, even kind of crazy.
How long will you go on with the baby idea if one don't show up in say five years?
ReplyDeleteGood question actually. I dont know the answer to that.
Reading Teds answer again I think he is saying that the Toothy is having serious problems with the PR plan.
ReplyDeleteAnd people say that soccer is boring. Oh my..............
ReplyDelete((((Tom))))
ReplyDelete(How long will you go on with the baby idea if one don't show up in say five years?)
ReplyDeleteThanks for answering Tom.
I didn't expect M and M to answer.
Maybe she'll be here the next 10 years talking about how disgusting it is to hide a baby when never seeing a child. Speculation of Jake and who he's bedding will number in the 20's or 30's by then, men and women.
Some regular posters will still be mad at Jake. Never thinking about to just give it up.
M&M love your comments, sure you will have no issue coming up to Jake and playfully call him "power bottom" and questioning him about BT... Or would you? What a bunch of spineless big mouths talking rubbish since they can hide behind some bogus blogger ID!

ReplyDeleteYou mean like you?
How long will you go on with the baby idea if one don't show up in say five years?
ReplyDeleteWhy aren't you answering M&M's question? You are the curiosity here. Not M&M. Where will you be in five years? I can only hazard to guess. And, if you have such a problem with BT then stop coming here spewing your hatred and personal attacks. Your therapist must be making tons of money off of you. Maybe they can buy that summer home by now.
I'm glad someone asked the 64,000 question. If you don't believe Jake is gay, with Austin and has Baby Tile, why on earth would you spend days on end monitoring the websites that do. Oh,never mind. Paycheck.
ReplyDeleteooooooh noes, clued-on m has caught us out. What to do, what to do??
ReplyDeleteNice to see Jake involved in a charity like this.

Well-said. Someone has sure been sitting on OMG and WFT2 the last couple of weeks and obsessing over our interest in J&A and BT.
Tom, I really like to watch soccer. The game yesterday was great. I always wonder if one of the reasons it doesn't get promoted more in the US is its not a sport where the players can stand around on the sidelines in order to allow time for commercials. I think that cuts down on the willingness to sponsor it and show more of it on tv.
