He's Great, It's Great, and Doing Great Stuff

Yesterday it was stunts ,chases, and cars for the EoW crew.

"Crashing cars & speeding through the streets of South Central today on set"

Another tweet from the same person, who's working on the film, commented on how great it is to work with Jake.

"Jake Gyllenhaal is great to work with on 'End of Watch' "

Speaking of great. Jake and Duncan are getting more great words for Source Code. Cinematic Method has Source Code at the top of their Power Rankings for best movies this year, and they say Jake has a lot to do with it.

His confusion and frustration at the start make you get into this movie right away, and when the intensity gets cranked up so does Jake making this movie an incredible ride.
There is something about Source Code's success, how it all came together and how everything clicked. Jake and Duncan, the story, the script, the characters, the cast, the filming, the timing.

But something else to think about. For the first time since Zodiac, Source Code was the first movie were Jake was not tied to or associated in a fauxmance, during filming and promoting it. And it made a difference.

There wasn't another acting component that Jake had to do while working on a film. There wasn't another layer or wall or mask or job or whatever you want to call it to defuse that energy from where his performance comes.
Source Code was him just living his life and working, not pretending to have a different life. While it can not be quantified, that change of energy makes a difference and comes through in performances. And it shows!!

Hey Jake next time they try to talk to you about going faux, you bring that up to them as another reason to Say No 2 Faux!

Giving him his "Do"

While Austin's co-star walked away with the "Do Something Award" for twitter, you are not in the shadows, we know who did it first. You were tweeting and sending out the message about wanting to make people aware about what's going on.

You do it without getting preachy, sanctimonious, or bullying. It is done with good intentions and with whole lot of wit and wisdom.

OMG doesn't have a red carpet or an award to grab, and you already bought yourself a "brand new 4- door sedan"
but we can give you this

and a
SAAAAA- LUTE!

Well Done Mr. Nichols (and a well done on a car tweet that says - "I was in LA last week, just not when I was expected to be")

  2. ITA Special about it showing that Jake put all of his energy into SC instead of splitting himself in two with bearding. I do think it also helps that he had a good movie, and that this was chosen because he really liked the script, and not because it was box to check off on the list of cookie cutter movies that will supposedly get an actor onto the A list.

Please post link to that tweet because I can't find it. Thanks!

  4. He did say that but posting a picture of a brand new car from a LA dealer says - I was in LA.
But then somehow he was back in NC before Ms.B's trip down the blue carpet.

Austin doesn't randomly put stuff up, there is a method to his madness.

    Special K,

OK, so Austin did NOT tweet: "I was in LA last week, just not when I was expected to be".

Today Austin posted the photo of his new car and for some reason you believe that he was in LA last week. Did I get that right?

  6. Well he didn't buy it in NC if you look at the front license plate. It's brand spanking new, he would have had to sign the papers for the car and he took the picture of it. So why don't you do the math.

  7. Excellent points about some of the reasons why Source Code was such an entertaining experience, and such a box office success, domestically. The old "beardless," Jake magic was back on full display, along with that artless quality that makes him so accessible and sympathetic as a man, as well as a talented performer. Moreover, after viewing the film, I didn't feel like Jake selected the script as part of some hetero marketing career plan cooked up by PR bottomfeeders. For me, there's nothing better than a Jake Gyllenhaal unleashed to follow his heart because he can be a true force of nature, if left to his own devices, sensibilities and instincts. Put simply, let Jake be Jake and all will be right with the world.

  8. So why don't you do the math

Maybe a certain someone needs remedial assistance in simple arithematic, Special? I saw the same Universal City global "positioning" with that license plate clue, as well. Austin is nothing but creative (and resourceful) in his tweet and twitpic "choices." So unlike a certain other scatterbrained, ahem, I mean scattergun social networking approach from a "twit" who will remain nameless.

Sorry, there is no math to be done.

You shouldn't make up things as you please and try to present them as something based on facts.

  10. Twit = someone who thinks anyone would take a picture of their new car 60 days after the fact.

Oh hey, look what I bought 35 days ago. A new car!

  11. Austin is brilliant, that's all I have to say.

  12. Don't you just love a new car smell?

So, does a hybrid car still have that new car smell, I wonder?

Well, I see that #Little Voices and #crowdrise were thanked for being responsible for getting the award. Just wondering if Austin was. You know, since he went along on the Gulf trip as well and helped out on so many of the team giveaways.

Do the math = "you figure it out"

Try not to be so literal next time. We all knew what Special and M&M meant.

  19. Excellent points about Jake being able to concentrate all his effort on his acting job, not acting in his real life as well. Plus we all saw the terrible strain bearding with Reese had on him. He was at the brink of a breakdown for a while there. Lets hope it works as well for his new movie. Two hits in a row would do wonders for him.

Out of town guests at work all week so I'll be dropping by for quick visits this week.

  20. m, you know what out of town visitors mean (besides meetings, anyway!)

Catered in breakfasts, lunches and dinners out!!! The business expense card does its thing!!!

  21. Bubba Starling signs with the Royals!! Can't believe he bypassed Univ. of Nebraska but when you sign for $7.5 million guaranteed, HA!! hey, you can always go to school later.

Big exciting news around these parts and especially for the Royals.

Isn't that a great name? More so for a football player though, not a baseball.

Bubba Starling. You might remember that name!

  22. Dear Ted:
So if the Hollywood circle knows about your Vicers, why don't they spill the beans? If I knew who Toothy Tile was, and I was a B -lister, I would want to mess up his career to get his parts! An anonymous tip to the Enquirer equals extra cash and a ruined career...

    Dear Stop Making Sense:
Guys have been doing exactly as you suggest to John Travolta for years. Has it made a difference? Not really. The public believes what it wants to. A nobody accuser against Toothy would prove the same results.

  23. Disney halts production on Depp’s ‘Lone Ranger’

A retelling of the classic western "The Long Ranger" was supposed to start filming this fall, but Disney has pulled the plug on the anticipated Johnny Depp project.

A Disney rep tells CNN, “Yes, that production ['The Lone Ranger'] has been shut down and everyone involved in the production is meeting to figure out next steps.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, budget clashes between Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski are what brought the project down.

Verbinski – who directed the first three "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies - reportedly balked at the budget laid out by the studio, demanding more money to make the movie.

"The Long Ranger" was a potential franchise-starter, with Armie Hammer lined up as the Lone Ranger and Depp slated to play Tonto, his Native American sidekick. It was scheduled to be released in December 2012.
