For Source Code, Jake got a chance to experience being a producer is a non formal way. With EoW, it looks like he is getting to experience being cinematographer and director.
When Jake first mentioned Watch he said it was a new challenge and something he's never done before. Don't think it was the story as much as it was the process of making the movie.
Shot in a documentary style, the actors have the opportunity to play a role in the movie that most never get a chance, they become the camera, it is from their POV as the action is happening.Radiant Images is working with Watch to help create a movie perspective that hasn't been seen before with SI Nano camera that the guys wear, as well as the SI-2K sensor cameras. They've put together wearable Cinedecks as well other Cinedeck sets and have created custom rigs for the cruisers and have created other equipment just for Watch.
Jake's so interested in the process, he joined the film crew and went to Radiant for test shoots with the cameras and the rigs.Jake and Mike have been wearing SI-Nano camera, that were created in house. The small digital cameras are light enough to wear for action and able to shoot in a 2K uncompressed RAW format. Radiant says they are great for 3D shooting .
With such a small budget it doesn't seem like there's the budget for 3D, but you wonder if there could be one or two 3D effects during some of the fire fight scenes to give the experience of what it's like being in the middle of it.It's not all work for Jake, while shooting in South Central has been talking to the neighbors and posing for pictures when work is over. Watch is using a lot of the residents as extras in the film too. Check out more of the camera testing at Radiant Images.

ReplyDeleteHorrendous day at work today! Awful! Daunting! Stressful! In the trenches! Not fun. But I'll tell you what - I'd not want to go through days like this with any other group than my co-workers. We all work as a team. Everyone does what they have to in order to get the day's work done and if the day's work doesn't get done, it's not for lack of trying.
ReplyDeleteBrother.
You know, I'm sure the guys behind this movie are just all charged up about their little cameras and rams of this, giga-b's of that, lots of flash, pow's, boom's and whatnot. Everything's got to be super high-tech, the latest in Tom Edison's world, it's got to be 3-D, HD, super fast, super flashy, and we the audience - it's not good enough that we can sit in our theatre seat and simply watch a movie and get lost in it.
We need to feel the rumbles, blink at oncoming meteors and suffer ear-damaging boom's, because you know the louder the better.
lol. I mean, gee whiz, can you just sell a movie on its own merit? With a script and actors? Why do these guys think we want to feel the tobacco juice flinging at us and dripping on us and feel things buzzing under our butts in our seats in order to enjoy a movie?
I guess what I'm not understanding is if this is a thing of the future for cops or is it just how they want to shoot the movie?
Sorry fellas, color me not impressed. But it is funny to watch all these guys standing around.....constantly playing with their little toys.....
it's just so typical.
WOW! Leo D is on Just Jared with his new hybrid electric car and it says that his can get up to 100 miles to the gallon!! Man, I could make several trips down to see my brother on that tank.

Oh that's funny since I KNOW I saw these images and this story someplace else before OMG. Let me just check... yeah it looks like GB had this up on Monday.
I am fascinated with the cameras and what kind of movie its going to look like in the end. I don't think there has been a movie from the cops perspective like this. It's a little different than a cameraman running with the officer on Cops.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the rigging on the car it looks like they are covering every angle.
I can see why Jake would be so interested in the project, because it gives him another way to shape the outcome (the movie).
Well I can say that I found the information about the cameras via twitter and fb. And since I don't go to Gyllenbabble I didn't know that they had done the story. With not a lot coming out about Jake at the moment there were be some repetition between all the different Jake sites sometimes.
ReplyDeletePrairie Girl - do you post on the Television Without Pity forums?
ReplyDeleteOh that's funny since I KNOW I saw these images and this story someplace else before OMG. Let me just check... yeah it looks like GB had this up on Monday.
ReplyDeleteI saw a link about this camera company on Twitter several days ago but it was boring so I didn't even read it.
20:31, see this? Take a bite.
You know, everyone has access to the same links, the same interviews, the same news feeds out there. This isn't the Kentucky Derby. It's not a competition.
There's not a Nobel Prize or a Pulitzer awaiting Special or any other Jake blog host. So stop trying to make this into something that it very plainly is not.
Take your unwelcome snark and the rest of your Everything's $1.00 toys and hit the road. Special is too nice & classy to tell you but I think as everyone else knows, I certainly don't have any issue doing it.
Obviously we have some people here who are tired of picking at themselves and in dire need of some kind of attention.
ReplyDeleteBanking hours are over, windows are closed. Blinds are drawn. Talk to yourselves like you're already pretty good at anyway.
I've got to hit the hay - another big long day at work tomorrow, I'm sure.
A cop and a cup of coffee, just add the donut and Jake's captured it completely.

Of course if it was the Boston Police Dept it would be a cup of Dunkin's.

ReplyDeleteWho.cares if the same material appears on more than one site? Isnt that what the Internet is all about? Troll is getting pretty desperate if that is all he can pick on.
ReplyDeleteYes I am up at an ungodly hour . Had dinner and drinks with my sexy coworker. The first time we were alone together in a social setting and I knew it would be his chance to finally out himself to me. We had a ball talking away and i got the whole story of his partner and relationship. Funnily enough PG we also talked about movies and TV and how important character development and dialogue were vs special effects. Anyway I count him as a good friend now. We really get along well but I came home and crashed on the sofa. Now up to go to bed.
Yeah, how funny to see you on here at this hour, m! lol
ReplyDeleteHey, sounds like a great evening. How nice to share with your co-worker - I bet he enjoyed being able to talk with you and share from his life.
But I bet you'll be glad when this week is over and things return to normal, huh? Meetings and business meals are okay but after awhile, it's nice to get back to normal routine.
m, I plan to post this weekend. I've had a couple of chapters done for awhile but it's taken some time to tweak and have my beta look at them. They're long chaps though so I hope they'll be worth the wait. But I told her I wanted to post by this weekend.
ReplyDeleteAnd what in the heck are those big green things behind that guy in the blue shirt in that last picture?! LOL! Giant pickles? Humongous leaves? Cacti???? What in the heck is that? Giant crafters styrofoam cones??
They look like that spongy squid thing on Spongebob except he's orange. I just now noticed those because they're right by my comment box.
New pics of Jake on Just Jared!! Guess what he's wearing? You'll never guess. Oh, come on!! Give it a try.
ReplyDeleteIs he sleeping in that uniform? lol
I hope someone's doing laundry on that set.
Aw, he looks great. Very very happy.
DAMMIT, I wish he had hair in these.
Sorry, no link - I'm running behind. It's called justjared.com and he's near the top. lol
ReplyDeleteAnd what in the heck are those big green things behind that guy in the blue shirt in that last picture?!
It's looks like a big giant aloe vera plant.
Ohhhhh, you're kidding? They get that huge?? Holy cow!! They look spongy so yeah, I could see that.
ReplyDeleteDo you Californians have abnormally sized plants like that?????
LOL!
Hey, I couldn't resist! Look at the first comment on the JJ post:
He really needs to grow back his hair ASAP. This is NOT a good look for him.
LOL - and no, that's not me, I don't post on JJ but I couldn't resist re-posting.
Jake on Just Jared.
ReplyDeleteJust Jared
Pictures from the Watch set yesterday.

Jake does look very happy in the new photos. But I have to agree with PG about the hair, I just don't think he looks that hot without it. Don't know why since I thought he looked good in Jarhead, maybe it's the combo of no hair and the uniform, or his just being older.
ReplyDeleteTalk about hot, Matt Bomer has signed on to the Soderberg film about male strippers that stars and is based on Channing Tatum. THUD!
ReplyDeleteI can't I'm going to get to see him on the big screen stripping. Talk about dream casting and making one's dreams come true. I'm a little bit afraid this movie is going to be a mess, but even if it is it will be a hot mess, and I don't care, I'm so going to be there opening night.
Looks like Jake will not be at Leadville this year.
ReplyDeleteRT @lifetimekj: Official #LT100 Run news: Contrary to reports Jake Gyllenhaal will not be participating in our event this year. We will...

Interesting about the cameras and filming. Looking forward to EoW. Jake looks quite convincing as a cop.
ReplyDeleteJake's got a great giggle, but I don't know Jake, Anderson is giving you some stiff competition. (you gotta watch the video)
ReplyDeleteThe most beautiful sound Michael K's ever heard
I wondered what MichaelK would have to say. :)
