With a less Sensitive Julian this season, could this be one of the
stories for Julian and BrookeDavis this spring?
Let me use this straw as an example.
After all day taking care of the kids, the housework, my mother, your mother, Clay calling all the time, a hitman in Tree Hill, dogs with the munchies roaming the streets and trying to fit my directing career in, my bendy doesn't unbend at the snap of BrookeDavis' finger or anything else.
Poor little Julian, just wants some BrookeDavis attention.
Are you even listening to me?
Don't worry about it, I met this Viagra sales guy. It was like ...magic! He gave you some samples?
Huhhh...you know, I never even thought to asked for samples.
Happy Austin Friday.

^^^ LOL. I just love tweets sometimes. That second one just kills me.
ReplyDeleteHey, where'd the coffee bean song go? LOL - the beginning of that song cracked me up.
Wow, just love days off - forgot what it was like! I am in the midst of putting on the finishing touches on my autumn tree that is in my room. It has taken a couple of years to assemble just the right leaf and acorn ornaments but now with the candy corn lights, you oughta see this thing. It is really taking shape.
Orange lights everywhere and a new little Snoopy/Great Pumpkin light-up in one of the front windows. We are getting really decked out. Orange, browns, yellows, reds and golds just everywhere. I love Christmas colors but I don't know - I just also love autumn colors almost as much.

Here’s a great example that Jake was ready to come out in 2006, until his people shoved him back into the closet. He talks about coming to grips with revealing his true self to the world and significantly talks about how he’s learning to hold on to love. The article is from January, 2006. We definitely know three things about this period. Kirsten was long gone. The only “big stuff” in his life was Austin Nichols. The Lakers photos took place the following month.

Very, very nice find, M&M.
ReplyDeleteYou have to ask yourself who he was talking about when he spoke of "holding onto love".
Holding on to love with who? And then you have to look at when this interview took place and who he was being seen with.
And those famous Lakers photos took place the next month??
There's your answer.
I feel like Jan & Marcia in that episode of The Brady Bunch, though.
ReplyDeleteWhaaaaa??? Jake was SMOKING!!!
He was WHAT???!!
Jake was smoking!!!
Hated reading that part, M&M!!!!
Then Jan & Marcia go running to Mike & Carol. He was smoking.
ReplyDeleteMy big buddy - he had done so well with his cessation of that habit. And now after this month long catastrophe that we went through, he slowly slipped back right into it. The stress just got to him and he started by just having one, then a couple. And now he's back to doing it all over again. I just hate seeing that. Hate smelling it on him, too. lol. Man, that stuff stinks.
Aaaaaand then there's this. These girls are on a campaign to get these two married, I swear.

ReplyDeleteHated reading that part, M&M!!!!
LOL! Yes, I'm afraid so, PG. Jake was caught smoking many times during this time period. I like that he was so opened about it, though. It shows how he was truly trying to be true to himself. Remember that the first time Jake was seen publicly with Austin was during the Casanova premiere in November, 2005. They had been together for well over 3 years and you can see how he was ready to move forward with his life.
It's hard to believe that Jake had just turned 24 when he did this interview. An impressive young man trying to fight the good fight.
Thanks, M & M. I've never read this interview before. Jake really was trying to come out, wasn't he? I don't get why he didn't follow through with his plan? Was it the public reaction to the Lakers photos that scared him?
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe that Jake had just turned 24 when he did this interview. An impressive young man trying to fight the good fight.
ReplyDeleteBefore the Old Guard got ahold of him and look what happened.
I think it's great how supportive Adam Lambert's parents were and are of him. Adam seems to have such a self-confidence and ease with who he is. It's such a sharp contrast with Jake and how he is now. I see Jake in Maggie's Men and that's a glimpse of real body language Jake. The picture of yesterday's Le Kodachrome coffee house with Jake against the brick wall - that also is a glimpse of real body language Jake.
Jake walking down the sidewalk, shoulders reared back, elbow out escorting Ice Maiden like they're walking out to the middle of the football field on HomeComing Night?? That was not the real Jake.
Thanks, M & M. I've never read this interview before. Jake really was trying to come out, wasn't he? I don't get why he didn't follow through with his plan? Was it the public reaction to the Lakers photos that scared him?
ReplyDeleteYou know, Painful - I wonder if it would be different if say it all had happened now and not in 2006. Could it have been different, you think? Or not?
When Hollywood denied Brokeback the Oscar Best Picture, that was so wrong. So wrong. And could it have been different had Jake won Best Supporting Actor? People talk so much about Heath and Ennis Del Mar.
But Jake played Jack Twist so well. He put the life into that character and the scene at Trailhead was as dramatic and the script so perfect.
How on earth did Crash win over that? What in the heck was that movie about anyway? Do you ever hear anyone talking about Crash? I think there was a conspiracy in Hollywood to prevent Brokeback from winning and that Crash winning was just a travesty that cannot ever be undone.
How crushed Jake must have been.
Oh well, what's done is done. Get over it, pg.
ReplyDeleteM&M, didn't Ted say that Jake was talked into the closet by his people?
I wonder if his mother had any say in it as well?
But you know what - everyone loves those Lakers photos. You look at comments on blogs regarding those pictures and people just loved them.
I really like today's song.
Thanks for posting it M&M.
ReplyDeleteI have always thought Jake was on his way of coming out at that time, for all the reasons you mentioned and I think HW knew that and that is one reason he didn't get the Oscar, even though he won the BAFTA.
They thought if he had won it, he would have enough clout and power that HW couldn't stop him and it would start the dominoes falling after a current Oscar winner would be out.
I also think that one of the reasons he appeared to be waiting to get attached to a new project back then. It wasn't about money but about him coming out.
I don’t think those photos bothered Jake. But, I’m sure they bothered his money-grubbing handlers. Lickety split, photoshopped pics, from late January, popped up on the Internet in an effort to give off the impression that Austin was not with Jake, but was actually “dating” Sophia Bush. Those were the pics with the floating shoes and the pier that went nowhere. A few months later Soapy denied that she was dating Austin and denied that she was dating Jake too. But, Jake’s PR machine leapt into damage control mode instinctively.
ReplyDeleteIf Jake had won the Academy Award, I think he would have come out. But, once he lost to Clooney (implicit message: it pays to stay in the closet and play the game), and shockingly Brokeback Mountain didn’t even win the best picture, I bet his people convinced him it was because of his hints about coming out. I wouldn’t be surprised that they also started asking for ridiculous amounts of money to make sure Jake couldn’t get parts. That allowed them to fool Jake into thinking that they were right about their understanding of the rules of the “game”. The party line no doubt that Jake’s romantic idea of living an open life with Austin was impossible, if they wanted to keep their careers. When you see Jake and Austin at another Lakers game in April, there is a load of pain on both of their faces. Maybe abject misery might be a better term. Jake looks absolutely broken-hearted in those April photos.
I seem to remember he went from BBM to Jarhead to Zodiac (which had him filming for about 9 months). What project was he waiting for?
ReplyDeleteThank you, everyone. I guess I see now why Jake didn't come out. But, how sad is that? You're right. Those April Lakers' photos are the exact opposite of the overflowing love exploding off the February pictures, (like your avatar, M & M).
ReplyDeleteHe finished up Zodiac and then he waited around for Rendition. Really? Rendition? That didn't start filming until November of 2006.
ReplyDeleteHe was still a hot property coming off the BAFTA's and the Academy Awards even if he didn't win an Oscar. It didn't make sense.
There were probably lots of projects coming his way but since Fincher had him tied up so long there wasn't much he could do. Don't think he was quite in the position then to ask them to wait while he finished filming Zodiac.
ReplyDeleteZodiac wrapped in February 2006, which was during award season so that wasn't keeping him from grabbing something that spring or summer.
ReplyDeleteJake was selected for Zodiac in April 2005 long before he started to move foward with the idea of coming out of the closet. Once Hollywood started to see Jake make his move to live an open life (being seen with Austin for the first time in November, 2005) it definitely hurt him when it came to getting his next project. Rendition didn't even come along until October, 2006. Not exactly the kind of top notch role, one would expect given his whirlwind success with Brokeback Mountain.
ReplyDeleteThe electricity went out last night here so I didn't have a chance to correct a minor typo. Jake had just turned 25 in 2006.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that interview that was linked above is from September 2005, not Jan. 2006. It's from Toronto via Knights-Rider, Jake was in Toronto back then promoting BBM and Jarhead. Some of the quotes are familiar and the interview seems to be truncated. This sounds like the interview took place in a hotel(the uncomfortable chair, asking to take a smoke) actors do a bunch of interviews with news agencies when they do this festivals and the interviews are released later when the movie is released. This truncated interviews was posted in the Honolulu Advisor because BBM was opening that week there.
ReplyDeleteJake was still openly smoking back in 2005 and didn't care if a reporter saw him.
Jake was still filming Zodiac in Jan. and Fincher was being a bitch about Jake taking time off to promote BBM and Jarhead. The reporter doesn't mention Zodiac because Jake started filming that after Toronto.
Jake and Kiki's PR announced that they broke up in the summer of 2004 but we know that they were back together in 2005 based on a bunch of photo ops from 2005 that lasted until almost the end of the year.
Reporters nevr bring up 2005 Jake/Kiki because their PR never officially commented on them getting back together. Jake's people told Jake to dump Kiki in 2004 because she had become a full blown junkie at that point and was afraid that she would drag him down.
So when he decided to start whatever again with her , it was against his PR's wishes that's why they never commented on it.
Also Mama and Maggie who were close to Kiki at one point were pissed as well and worried that she was "tainting" him with her druggie ways.
Jake was never favored to win for BSA that night, Cloonney was. The only shock was the BBM lost.
Bafta was a nice surprise but that was due to the split voting with the Bafta voting board.
As far as Jake's people asking for more $$$ after his nomination, Jake is a grown man and i'm sure he told his people to ask for it like all actors do, he is no different.
Jake Gyllenhaal contemplates the big stuff

TORONTO - Now that Jake Gyllenhaal has made a movie in which he falls for Heath Ledger, he's ready to come out of the closet. No, not
that closet.
The interview might have taken place in mid-September when Jake was in Toronto and then published in December, 2005, which is the actual date given. But, the few month’s difference doesn't change my point that Jake was inching his way out of the closet during the latter part of 2005 and Hollywood closed ranks to do everything to stop him from living true. Jake was never "back" with Kirsten. And, I doubt very much his team was against him being seen with her. Particularly, after Jake had been hauled in for public sex in August, 2005. Jake may have said that his people were supportive of him taking the role of Jack Twist, but they were not. And, they certainly weren’t happy when he was left beardless during the promotion of Brokeback Mountain.
For anyone who saw Crash or Syriana, it’s more than obvious that both Brokeback Mountain, and Jake were robbed of the award. Having won the BAFTA lifted Jake’s odds of winning the Academy Award considerably. Yet, surprisingly, neither one took home the award that night. That’s called blackballing. And, the push started right after the BAFTA wins, which really unnerved the “suits” in Hollywood.
Check out the IHJ gallery for 2005. If Jake wasn't "back" with Kiki, they sure did a good job of making people think otherwise including pics of them together at the Venice FF where BBM was screened and won awards including one for Heath.
ReplyDeleteIf Jake was robbed of a win, then so was Heath which he was. The whole movie was blackballed and it had nothing to do with Jake. BBM won dir., screenplay and soundtrack but it was never going to win the big awards.
His people may have wanted a beard for him then but they sure in hell didn't want junkie Kiki, that's why they never issued a comment in 2005 when they were seen in NY and L.A. together.
He won the Bafta because Clooney was nominatted twice for BSA: Syriana and Goodbye and Good Luck and Matt Dillon and Don Cheadle was up for Crash so he won by default according to those who voted.
He was never predicted to win a AA, Clooney was and it was no surprise that he won like it was no surprise that Hoffman won for Capote.
The HW suits could care less about Jake's win for Bafta because they knew that the voting members of the academy wasn't going to vote for BBM anyway.
The only surprise Oscar night was the BBM loss not Jake's.
Also, Jake's family cooled on Kiki as well because of her drug use.
Nothing really points to Jake about holding out for more money. Yes that was the party line that was coming from HW, what else would they say he wanted to come out?
ReplyDeleteHe was an indie darling and hot up and comer in HW before BBM and all the award nominations. Then he became an even hotter commodity in the industry.
There would have been tons of scripts and projects sent to him to consider.
It wasn't about the money, if he was it wouldn't have done Rendition. He would have grabbed something earlier and would have been working before summer, strike when the iron is hot.
Rendition wasn't a big budget movie and he didn't make a lot from it.
And look at his salaries, Brothers he took a salary reduction, Nailed - same thing, again with LoAD and EoW too. The only movie that has paid out big salary wise was PoP but not even that was as big a salary for a movie with 200 production budget. His salary was than 3% of the production cost.
That's not to say he didn't work some other kinds of back end deals to his contracts.
I think he was looking for a project that would let him come out that year and take the risk with him.
It's his people's job to continually look for projects and would have been while he was still on Zodiac.
Jake, Kiki and Kiki's drug dealer, Samantha Rinson in July 2005. Jake had to know that Kiki's drug problem was getting out of hand and that Sam was a source, it was an open secret in HW. You would think that he would do an intervention or something instead of staging photo ops with her. He felt comfy with Kiki so that's probably turned down any other "GF's"
ReplyDeletehttp://www.iheartjakemedia.com/thumbnails.php?album=822
Heath got the Oscar not just for The Joker but also because he wasn't given it for BBM, which he should have.
ReplyDeleteThat is a pattern that the Academy has done with other actors in the past who should have won.
I still Jake had to pay a little for daring to try to do what he wanted to do and come out back then.
Uh, just getting caught up again after being too tired to read. Did no one see Teds mention of Toothy and Baby Tile yesterday. He said Toothy is being very domestic lately and so is staying out of trouble and that Baby Tile is being very well looked after. Ted used the pronoun he throughout. I believe we were pretty sure at least one baby was male.
ReplyDeleteIt's very common in HW for actors to hold out for more $$$ when award talk starts, he was no different.
ReplyDeleteAlso he was acting like he was entitled according to some gossips, getting pissed off at the attention Heath was getting, getting no GG nomination (because he was in the wrong catagory, he should have been lead, not supporting) and his people told him to cool it because HW was watching and he may not even get a AA nom. if he keeps it up.
Also he was hoping that Jarhead was going to be the movie to get him all the attention and the awards not BBM. BBm was going to be the little indie flick with buzz like the indie films Maggie does.
He and his people were campaigning him for Lead for Jarhead and supp. for BBM.
At the time word was that he was pissed off at his team for the failure of Jarhead, which doesn't make sense but that was the gossip at the time.
He even blamed Kiki for 'Dragging" him down even though it was his idea to hook up again.
Oops that toothy comment was from Wednesday's bitch back. But still I did not see discussion of it unless I missed an OMG day and did not realize it.
ReplyDeleteThe point about Zodiac was that Jake had already been selected for the role of Robert Graysmith in April, 2005 (long before he started making actual steps out of the closet), and then it wasn’t until October/November 2006 that he finally was associated with another movie and that was for Rendition. Hardly, the kind of dream role one would expect for someone who had just come off the phenomenal success of Brokeback Mountain.
ReplyDeleteI believe this was extremely odd, given Jake’s “It” status and the buzz that surrounded his career since September 2005. By early 2006, he was considered one of the sexiest guys in Hollywood. In addition to being respected as one of the top rising stars among the younger set of male actors. Why the snub? I believe he was being punished for daring to buck the rules amid the homophobic elites of Tinsel Town. Also, no one wanted to take the risk because they weren't sure if Jake was going to come out. Hard to get investors enthusiastic about a leading man who was daring to flirt with living true. Conversely, Heath Ledger’s career skyrocketed. By May 1, 2006 Heath and Michelle both had been selected for the all star Bob Dylan biopic cast of I’m Not There. And, then Heath was selected for the mega role of the Joker for the blockbuster franchise of Batman (The Dark Knight) by August 1, 2006. Jake was left with Rendition and Brothers, films he could have easily been cast for prior to Brokeback Mountain.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what you are talking about. Never heard any gossip about Jake being pissed that his team didn't get him nominated for Jarhead. Jake was thrilled with the amazing positive response to Brokeback Mountain. He loved talking about the film. And, went everywhere promoting it. He did not feel entitled to anything. That is not Jake Gyllenhaal.
And, it wasn't his idea to hook up again with Kiki.

Dear Ted:
Are there, by any chance, any updates to be had on the most famous of your Vicers, Toothy Tile? Is it still parking lots and dirty alleyways or did he find somewhere even more exciting to share his talent? Also, do you know how baby Tile is doing? Progressing well?
—F
Dear Good Heart:
Tile's great, very well taken care of. As far as Toothy's love-life and career go, he's gotten more domestic lately, which has greatly helped the latter.
September 29, 2011 8:09 AM
I looked back, m. You're absolutely right. We never did really talk about Ted's statement. That was the day of the troll attacks and the discovery that UV was on the prowl.
I guess I viewed the awkward phrase of "Tile's great" as a clever way of Ted pluralizing the concept of BT. Which again points to there being more than one baby. And, the "he" is referring to Toothy. I also caught that Ted uses the term, "Good Heart" to remind us that Toothy has a very big one.
Btw: Have you recovered from your trip yet? Sounded like a bummer.
What does the signed 'F' mean?
ReplyDeleteTed used three commas in his response - that could mean three BTs.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Jake's loss of the Oscar had nothing to do with him or his being gay; Clooney won as a consolation for not winning any Oscars for Syrana. Also, Jake's performance just wasn't that buzzed about, just Heath's. Who deserves to win often has nothing to do with the Oscars, plenty of good films and actors have never won, or went years before doing so. Now sometimes that doesn't happen with the supporting actor roles, but then they usually go to a very showy performance, not usually the quiet ones.
ReplyDeleteI think your family and friends have a big influence on how you act in HW. Jake has always seemed needy when it comes to attention, especially from his parents (by his own admission in interviews), and I think part of his drive to be a big star is to please his mother. And I think his mother has no problem playing the game and probably encouraged it, as did his management, one of whom is friends with his mom.
Adam Lambert in contrast had a very gay supportive family, and Bomer in dancing around the topic has implied that one reason he never played the HW game is because of the values he was raised with--that who you are and the kind of person you are is what matters, not what kind of job you do.
Ted used three commas in his response - that could mean three BTs.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? You wouldn't do well as a puzzle solver would you, trolly?
I thought "Tile's great" was a little weird too. Why not just write: Baby Tile is doing great. Ted no doubt reads OMG and WFT2 to see what people are talking about. Of course, these days, WFT2 is only talking about OMG, so Ted probably only reads you guys. LOLLL! He knows that one of the main topics has been about multiple babies. I wouldn't be surprised that is why he worded the response that way. Take the apostrophe out and you have: Tiles [are great]. Could be.
Some very interesting points about Brokeback Mountain and Jake trying to come out. That interview is makes me sad. Aww, Jake. *sniff*
That Jake interview from the end of 2005, along with the black diamond engagement ring he started wearing in early May of the same year and Austin suddenly being seen in public in November, 2005 all point to Jake wanting to come out in 2006. Otherwise why say this?
ReplyDelete"I'm at a period in my life when I'm figuring out my idea of who I am and what I want and how to hold on to love — all that big stuff," says Gyllenhaal, whose "Brokeback Mountain," about a romance between two cowboys, opens today in Honolulu.
"And I'm starting to realize that it can happen at any age. I know people who are in their 50s who are figuring out what they want and who they are, and I think it's great. It's like you're always approaching life as a beginner."
He's trying to hold on to love. Which means he's in love. Kirsten is long gone. Jake was with Austin. Sounds like a man ready to break free.
I do think that Jake's friends and family let him down. He wanted to come out but there was no support system there to help him.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? You wouldn't do well as a puzzle solver would you, trolly?
ReplyDeleteDo you just automatically call everyone a "troll"? You're like one of those dolls with a pull cord on its back, repeating the same sh!t endlessly. LMAO

Good grief, even I the movie knucklehead can see this instead of fighting it tooth & nail.
Heath got the Oscar not just for The Joker but also because he wasn't given it for BBM, which he should have.
ReplyDeleteThat is a pattern that the Academy has done with other actors in the past who should have won.
Again, even movie knucklehead has seen this happen at Oscar time.

Trolls and naysayers are flummoxed since Jake has not been around a woman for what, at least a year. Hard to hold to the theory that he is straight given his lifestyle. Hanging around with a married woman with children, not dating any women, driving a family type car. I do hope he comes out once Austin's contract with oth is up.
Good to see Anderson being seen with his mate. I think we can expect more of this in the future.
Of course, there has to be a woman as a buffer between them, but definitely a positive outing. Good to see them out together.

Yeah, I think it's a great step forward. Good for them!
ReplyDeletem, I wish you a little rest before these next two weeks. I know it's always tough when one of your co-workers is out.
And no, don't give me these opportunities because I will take it every time. LOLLLL
Lookit that. LOLLLLLL!!! He even has a little cargo carrier there for supper or lunch leftovers.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think he has plastic bags over his feet. LOLLLLLL
Man, don't offer it up like that on a silver platter. It's a challenge.
I should say it's a challenge so ripe for the picking, it's elementary. It's a given. It's...it's just too good.

ReplyDeleteI can't wait till Anderson and Ben make it offical. It will be awesome. Anderson Cooper is a well known respected journalist and someone everyone can look up to. What a wonderful thing for struggling young gay folks to see.
