they sparkle, dance and speak volumes
Your smile so bright, makes everyone want to see it more.
Those dimples obscured far too long,
have some patiently waiting their arrival once again.
While taking new chances on screen and off Broadway
(Hoping it leads to more in life)
While reminding all where home is
Your helping heart,
kind caring soul
and nurturing nature
No wonder you are so loved.
Here's hoping 32 brings more this year!
Happy Birthday Jakey!!

Give it a rest. Good grief, what a churlish, whiny, petty complaint. You trolls really take the cake sometimes with your unreasonable, paranoid dislike and intolerance for Austin.
You don't like the posts, please go start your own blog or better yet, dig into your pockets and go take out an Austin-free billboard.
Boy, I have a sudden hankering to watch a Joan Crawford movie.
Belated greetings to the bday boy. Splendid post, Special. I like that you used so many current pictures even though they aren't....you know. We all know.
ReplyDeleteThings have been chaotic since last Friday for me as my mom had surgery, kinda serious but she is doing well now. And while she has been in recuperation, her sister passed away from lung cancer. Family flying and driving in, trips back and forth, power of attorney actions to take, just crazy. So happy to see some of my cousins and uncle but already sometimes getting on my nerves!!! lol. Oh my gosh. I've been off of work for a few days but have to get back today. Now the crew is headed up this way today, complete with Spike the Dog, and so more noise, chaos, and tortillas and frijoles flying everywhere.
Stories already but they'll have to wait until I can type with both hands.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, I love when I can see I have scored a direct hit. Rather satisfying.
This is too funny to leave off the table tho. I had brought Spike a box of Beneful peanut butter baked treats, of which they cost an absolute fortune at this off the beaten path general store, and the treats are very colorful. They look alot like Christmas spritz butter cookies and I found out last night that my Vegas aunt thought they were Christmas cookies and set them on the table for everyone to eat. LOLLLLLLLLL!!!!
Oh my dog, no don't do that!!! Geez! Now that my aunts and uncle are getting up there in years, we cousins have to keep a sharp eye on these people. You don't know what they're going to do.
Beneful treats. lol. That's a snicker story if I ever had one. It was a table banger.
You know, gonna leave today on this sobering note and that is if I had one birthday wish in the whole world that mattered for our boy, it would be that he quit smoking. That's it. He can stay in his closet, he can make all the shoot 'em up, dark movies and videos he wants, but I wish with all my heart that he would stop smoking.
ReplyDeleteNow after having watched my dad lose his life because of lung cancer and now my aunt, who was a chain smoker as well as her husband and he was a bigtime, bigtime chain smoker, go through a quick but yucky death, watching the strain on family members and how it pains them to see, how she hated being hooked to that oxygen, but you know what? It's too late by then.
You can't keep doing that to your lungs and expect there not to be consequences. And if you don't care about yourself, then at least think about your partner and kids and any other close family member because they're going to be the ones who will be taking care of you. And it's an undignified way to go, let me tell you.
Okay I had to say it. My aunt was a really good person and she should've had at least another good 10 years. But snipped short.
Well, out into the wind, rain, sleet, snow, whatever. Fun stuff but hey, only two more work days.
Excellent post, Special. Hope Jake had a great day, free of pretense and artifice. Along with him giving up the cigs, that's my wish for the birthday boy.
ReplyDeleteWhere's "Jason"
ReplyDeleteLOL!
Happy Birthday Jake!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice time of year to have a birthday. He looks amazing. Happy 32!
I'm so sorry about your aunt PG. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your mom.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday Jake.
ReplyDeleteNice post for the birthday boy.
Thanks, Destiny. You know, she was the "fun" aunt. Doesn't everyone have at least one of those? She was "cool" and you could talk to her. She was funny as heck. She could be really loud. And she knew what she wanted or didn't want.
ReplyDeleteTraveling yesterday with my sister, mom and Vegas cousin was a hoot. We made a couple of stops so Mom could move around. One of the stops was at a supermart/gas station in some small town in Missouri with only several hundred population. The kind of place where as soon as I walked in the door. there were 3 good ol' men seated at a booth, coveralls, plaid shirts, ballcaps, the whole works. Probably farmers. lol. Missouri can be very beautiful. It has a lot of trees and winding roads. Lots of farms.
Near where my aunt lives (and she really lives out in the boonies), we saw an old one-room, white schoolhouse. And on the way down, we had to stop at this area-famous diner which was renowned for its fried chicken. They served it only on Wed and I forget the other day. Well, the whole clan wanted fried chicken.
When we ate it at the house, my chicken was still piping hot, couldn't believe it. And on the way back home, I commented on how hot it was. And my cousin said "well, but it was too bad we couldn't have eaten it there at the restaurant. Fresh." Well, mine was still hot, I said again. "Oh, but you should taste it right from the frying pan to the table." **sigh**. Yes, I repeated, but mine was really hot, just like it was from the pan.
And my cousin gritted her teeth and said "Yes but you really should taste it at the restaurant, fresh from the skillet..." and LOLLLLLL!!! Okayyyyy!!! That's the kind of nonsense that went on in that car.
Good GRIEF!!!! How hot can chicken get, right?!!! My cousin was driving me nuts.
And my uncle who just loves to tell story after story and my other cousin flexing his arms when we talked about right to bear arms and would you stop it, guns don't make the man. Get off of that subject real quick.
You know, my mom comes from a really big family. And alot of us cousins grew up spending summers with sleepovers for a week or so. We had a a lot of family reunions/get togethers/weddings/funerals, etc. Then most of us moved apart. But as cousins, you share a bond that never disappears, no matter what. You get together again and it's like time never passed. And that is so important during these times.
Family is about the most important thing we have. You don't ever lose it. You can try, I suppose. But you don't lose it. It's part of you, part of where you have been, and where you are now.
So the clan has arrived and I will be headed over there tomorrow for the evening. lol. Not sure when I'm going to get the rest of my shopping done. But Spike is at the house so I can't wait to see him again. If you tell him 'Give me a paw', he will put his paw into your hand.
ReplyDeleteIsn't all the holiday TV shows one of the best things about Christmas? Christmas Vacation is on tonight. LOLLLLL!!!! That one is just a classic. A classic. So many holiday shows that are a must-see.
i.e. Rudolph
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
The Year Without a Santa Claus
Scrooge, the musical w/ Albert Finney
Home Alone and Home Alone 2
The Holiday
The Ref
The Home Alone movies are classics. I think The Ref is hilarious and the Holiday is simply so pleasant and picturesque to watch. Peanuts is a classic but it always makes me mad the way those kids treat Charlie Brown.
What is this deal about the world ending tomorrow? Why the 21st?
ReplyDeleteThe drive in to work this morning was about the worst I've ever had. We didn't get much snow but the wind was blowing it so much that you had white-outs, times when you couldn't see anything. I passed so many cars in the ditches, blinking flashers, sheriff deputies, tow trucks, it wasn't funny. It was one of my most terrifying drives ever. Incredible.
PG - The Mayan calendar says the end of the world is supposed to happen tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your Aunt. Every family has the fun Aunt or should have one. Glad that you have such great memories of her.
Crazy about the snow. It doesn't sound like much when you tell people 3-4 inches, but with the wind and the drifts it's a totally different thing.
lol, I'll have to Google the Mayan calendar, I don't know what that is either.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I've ever heard of this.
