Speak softly....

... and carry a big stick.
Do you need to say any more?

Looks like "Taylor" has a bit of Jake influence. Dark leafy greens - farm fresh no doubt. But in plastic? Tsk, Tsk.

Watch out you might get more than a citation from this ecofriendly-enforcer.
"I'm sorry, I have to frisk you for other plastic. Don't worry I'll be as gentle the TSA has been with me.""Excuse me is that a bottle in your pocket? "

  2. Excellent idea of Austin having to do some frisking. I think he needs to do that when they reunite.

Is Jake really brown bagging it or is that for the movie?

Lookit that cooler. LOL. I like that it's a retro looking one, too in addition to being a baby-sized cooler. You should see some of the industrial sized ones that are in the lunchroom for the floor/whse workers. Some of those guys don't fool around - I think they pack for a whole day.

  3. Happy Birthday special. I'm glad PG keeps track of these things. I hope you have a lovely day and many more to come.

  6. Of course you Austin is just doing his job, helping to cut down on the use of plastic, and encouraging people to use more ecoconscious containers. ; )

  7. Thank you for all the birthday wishes.

My plans for the day? Trying to beat the heat.

  9. Whooooweeee! Man, we are tipping the thermometer right now at 99 degrees.

It is soooooo hot out there; it feels hotter today than it has all summer. It feels 10 degrees hotter than it did yesterday. It's pure miserable! I mean, it really, really makes you wonder what hell is really like if 99 degrees feels like you'e just baking. I know I sure don't want to know, lol.

Geez louise. My steering wheel was hot. My door handle was hot. Don't dare touch the buckle on your seat belt - it'll scorch you. Everything - hot. Door handles on stores are hot. I had to make a couple of pit stops and also pick up dinner to go and you have to test that door handle before you grip it if it's facing the afternoon sun.

Close the blinds, get inside and then don't move, don't go anywhere. It's just darn hot.

I bet it hits 100 in a minute or so. I don't know how people in Arizona and Vegas take it.

  10. I park next to one in my parking garage everyday - same color and model as the one Jake had. They are not tanks at all. They're a mid-size SUV.

    Oh lookee here.

Looks like the Q7 is still hanging around. Jake driving his black one to police training on Just Jared today.

    Q7 still hanging around

  11. The Family truckster rolls on.

He must have fleet insurance for all these cars.

Just looking at Jake wearing that jacket make me sweat, and not how you think. It's just even looking at sleeves in this heat is too much.

I notice he's wearing his standard issue police shoes. Maybe it's true, shoes make the (Police)man.

PG did you do the big girl link to Jared just for my birthday? :D

  12. LOL. Sorry but Jake looks just like a Soccer Dad in those pictures.

He sure is yapping away in a lot of these, isn't he? Wonder what's the deal?

I'm wondering if he'd ever consider wearing cargo shorts this summer?

Look at the inside of that car door. It's absolutely spotless; there's no dirt, no scuff marks, no nothing. I mean, I'm talking that metal part on the inside - that's where it always gets dirty eventually. I'm quite impressed - that's the part I just don't bother with when I wash the car. It's just got to drip dry, sorry.

Oh oh, think I see where something dripped, like a shake or something. lol. spoke too soon!

  13. LOLLL!! Hey I'm getting better at that link, but I cheat, you know. Someone, I won't say their name, but their initials are M&M, gave me this handy dandy little template and I'm starting to use it more.
    ;D

Not only the sleeves, Special, but look - he's got that thing zipped all the way up. I mean, was it freezing there today or what? lol. For cryin' out loud.

  14. This picture gives you a good idea of how big and high the Q7 is.

    Jake and the Truckster

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ha, exactly. I didn't think of that. It's really high, I know that. It's high and it's wide. And looks like it's built like an armored tank.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sounds like that M&M is handy to have around, huh? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I told you that Q7 was huuuuuuuge. LOL!

  18. Sounds like that M&M is handy to have around, huh? ;-)

    I don't know - is she?

    LOLLLLL!!!!

Aw, but of course!! But of course. That handy little template is a godsend for me, I know that!

A couple of the bosses are away tomorrow and so us minions are having an impromptu Snack Day! We roped the one remaining super to make his excellent dip and me? It's going to be a couple of Tastefully Simple treats for me. Have you guys heard of Tastefully Simple? I tell you, I haven't tried anything of theirs that isn't good. Their mixes, spices and what not are just excellent.

They aren't in stores - they do parties and shows like Pampered Chef, Tupperware, etc.

  23. Oh NG, don't beat yourself up. We've all had foolish moments, or things we wish we would have done differently. The past is the past.

Everyday is a fresh start. And we love having friends old and new join us here at OMG.

One thing about OMG that I'm proud of is that isn't just a blog, but it has become a community and friendships for so many people.

    ReplyDelete
  24. special k <3 i love you!!! thank you dear old friend.

  25. NG! Good to see you, and don't worry about a thing, it is all cool here. :-) I always think of you when I read and see stories about NPH and his family and wonder how you are doing.

  26. PG, regarding your comment about the heat in AZ and NV, if you remember I lived in AZ prior to relocating to Boston. I drove with oven mitts. The "E.V." in my moniker is "East Valley", Scottsdale, Mesa, etc. I'd like to be on a plane to Hawaii tomorrow...it's cooler there than in Boston. Maybe I'll even get first-class out of LAX ;/

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi EV! Have you melted yet, or waiting for tomorrow? :D

We only have two more days and Sunday and that cool front comes in. I can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  28. NG!!! EVTB!!! Wow, this is great - it's a party!

NG, I'm not mad - wasn't ever mad or anything like that. I understand you needing a break - don't worry at all about it. My gosh, you've seen me on here spitting out of my blowhole a number of times and everyone's great about starting a new day afresh. We all get do-overs every day and truthfully, I don't think you even did anything so don't give it another thought.

I've sure missed you NG and I think it's just wonderful and a Glorious surprise to see you here tonight.

I'm like Dest - I have thought of you all the time whenever I see NPH. That guy has got it going on, NG. He's here, he's there, he's got kids, he's engaged, he's hosted the Tony's, he is in movies, he is happening, ng.

Anyway, awesome to see you - I hope we get to see you around more often again!!!

  29. I drove with oven mitts.

Whaaaaa? Wow. I don't feel so bad, EV. That's terrible! lol. Hey, I could've used them the other day when I picked up my metal sunglasses that had been in the car all day and about scorched my hand off! Holy cow. They were hot.

Isn't this heat just something? Grass is crunching.

I have an aunt and cousin who live in Vegas and I don't now how they take it. We have hot summers too but last summer, I don't know that we even hit 100. We were really fortunate. Hopefully, a break will be coming soon.

Great to see you, EVTB. Stay cool. This is awesome that everyone has come on Special's bday. It's great to see everyone here today.

  30. Well, my snacks are made after I made a trip to the ol' grocery store and pumped gas into my car (sorry, Aust!)

Hey, but guess what? Cheez-Its were on sale for $2.49. Yes-that's 2.49. So I bought a box for myself and a box for my sister. She bought some ol' off-beat private label brand, I think it was Target's Market Pantry label, and I'm sorry but those things just didn't cut it.

And there was this other lady who came by and paused by the cracker section and I told her that was a really good deal on the Cheez Its. So we got to chatting and lamenting over the ridiculous prices of snack crackers. So she bought 2 boxes and I told her I was buying 2 boxes as well, lol. It's kind of nice to moan & groan over grocery prices if you have someone else to moan & groan with.

  31. I was at that store forever. There was an at-risk situation in the produce department underneath a table of watermelon. They had a pail full of water and it was overflowing onto the floor and so I had to find a worker at the salad bar and told her she needed to find a supervisor and someone needed to wipe that water up before someone fell. And the salad bar lady didn't speak English very well and she looked at me and just said, "Someone could fall."

Well, yeah. And we need to do something about it, not just stand here and look at it. Geez. Contact a supervisor.

Well, tomorrow begins a short stint of watching Puddy, Greta and Lucky. He lost Nikki, the black lab (remember I told you guys about her, she had cancer) this past winter. Anyway, now Puddy has a paralyzed larynx and so I'm a little apprehensive about the whole situation but hopefully we'll all do fine. Sounds like I'll have several medications to be dosing out to a couple of the dogs.

Well, better hit the hay. Big Snack - I mean, Work Day tomorrow.

  32. There was a subtle hint in my wanting to go to Hawaii first-class out of LAX today. They serve the best Trader Vic's entree's and Mai Tai's all the way! Been there, nearly FELL off the plane in Honolulu :/
    I had Mahi Mahi ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Via the "rumor mill", let's see who shows up in Waikiki tomorrow ;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wake Up With Al! must show the Life Alert commercial a kazillion times every morning. It is driving me nuts more & more every morning.

E.V., I'm waiting to see what the rumor mill is going to bring us? Wind of someone reclined back on the shifting sands of our times in a chilly 75-80 degrees?! I've not had Mahi Mahi, but I'd love to order it some day just so I could say the word.

    ReplyDelete
  35. And I think when one orders Mahi Mahi (it's even fun to type), one needs to say it as often as possible during table conversation.
    ;D

  36. Hi EV Hi NG. Good to see you both back.

I can't belive it is cooler in Tampa than Philadelphia. Not sure what is hotter the temps or my Fightins. Go Phils.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ahh, the heat of Arizona E.V. Somehow it just never seemed as bad as New York when it's hot, even when it was 110 in the shade. In Arizona there isn't much humidity, and it cools down at night in a way it doesn't here. It was already 85 degrees(!) when I woke up at 7 this morning, and with the humidity that meant no morning walk for me today.

Yesterday morning it was so hazy I couldn't even see the George Washington Bridge from the walkway along the river. And I mean nothing, not a faint outline, not a piece of the top, it was like the bridge didn't exist. Never seen that before.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I am in a crosswinds of multiple fans at the moment, lights off and trying to stay cool.

    ReplyDelete
  39. All this talk of heat is making me hot too.

I've never been much of a fan of Ryan Gosling, though he I admit he's talented. But he's doing the talk show rounds and is charming the pants off of everybody. He has a new movie coming out called Drive. I watched a few interviews via youtube and about died when I saw the red band trailer for Drive. He is very sexy in that film.

Not sure what the Hawaii references are all about, but who needs an excuse to go there. Not me.

  40. Great Scot... just lost a nicely composed comment and isn't it always hard to go back and reconstruct when you haven't saved?

Wanted to wish Special a Very Happy Belated Birthday! Wish I could be nearby so we could have an appropriate beverage to celebrate your Special Day. Always wishing you happiness, excellent friends and good health to enjoy life.

Will be looking forward to the changing of the seasons and things slowing down into the fall and being able to catch up with Jake and Austin and all my friends here at OMG.

Hope you had a good one Special.

    Hugs.... Seaweed

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hey Seaweed. Enjoy ur summer.
    Looking forward to yapping again.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Tom, you crack me up with that avatar.

Seaweed, great to see you too! Seaweed has his nose to the grindsted. It's been a rough morning here - it's hectic. Why does it have to be hectic on a Friday? And a snack day at that? That's just wrong.

    lol

We have dips galore this morning. And what was so stupid was that when I was at my local Hen House last night, I picked up a perfectly almost ripe banana and a nectarine. Now why in the heck I thought I was going to be eating those when there were snacks is beyond me.

Hang in there, Special! Run an ice cube across your forehead. You guys are going to be getting relief before us, I think. Once I get home, that's it. I'm not moving tonight. It'll be me and 3 big dogs. They'll probably have stinkus, too. Can't wait!
