Taken Prisoner

Another one has been taken prisoner by Prinsoners.

Paul Dano, who is in the new movie Looper, is  joining the cast.

Jake is working  his director from An Enemy, Denis Villeneuve, again for the"gritty thriller that centers on a small-town carpenter (Hugh) whose young daughter and best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, his character takes the law into his own hands, kidnapping the man he suspects is responsible. But as his friend and daughter's captivity continues, the carpenter begins to have doubts that he has the right man."   It's then he runs up against a hot-shot detective (Jake) assigned to the case.

Dano will "play a neighbor who has the mental capacity of a 10-year old and has a very sweet disposition, but may hide the personality of a killer."

And it looks like we have a tentative date and place for the shoot. They are looking at January in Atlanta, but as before you never know for sure until the first day they start shooting.

  1. Can we just re-visit Marfa TX today? Can we do that? It's a free board right now, anyway, looks like to me.

Can I hear a Marfa TX from y'all? How about....a Marfa TX Revival? How 'bout that?

Let's hear it for Marfa TX!!!

  3. Where is Marfa TX, anyway? I just figured it was near Austin TX but it is 7.5 driving hrs away, 480+ miles. It's way out there in western TX.

It has a population (I believe this has been pointed out before on the blog, but it bears repeating) of 1966, according to a U.S. Census count in July of 2011. So that makes it a very relevant number in accordance with the time of the Revival tour date performance.

There were only 6 dates on this tour:

    April 21, 2011 - Oakland CA
    April 22, 2011 - San Pedro CA
    April 23, 2011 - Tempe, AZ
    April 24, 2011 - Marfa TX
    April 26, 2011 - Austin TX
    April 27, 2011 - New Orleans, LA

And then for whatever reason, the band and Jake were seen in Nashville TX following the conclusion of the tour. Nashville was not a concert stop.

I know one thing stands out already. Notice the 2-day delay between the stop in Marfa and Austin TX, whereas all the other dates are one after the other.
    What happened there????? lol

And again, why Marfa, for gosh sakes? A population of 1966??? A town so small, Mumford had to perform at El Cosmico, which sounds like some form of an artsy trailer park.

  4. Look at those 6 tour dates.

You have 2 in CA. 1 in AZ. TWO in Texas. over 3 days. Then one in LA.

If you're stopping in Austin, why ever on earth do you stop to perform in Marfa TX?????

Is there a band member of Mumford who loves Marfa? Has family in Marfa? Old girlfriend in Marfa? Who had ties to Marfa?

    hmmmm

  5. Ohhhh, ohhhhh, ohhhhh!!! Ohhhh!!

I'll tell you someone who likes Marfa!!!!!!!

  8. Well, you're going to have to come up with something more concrete than that. Marcus was born in Anaheim CA. Winston was born in Canada. Ben Lovett is from Georgia. Why you can't find a birthplace from a simple Google Search is beyond me. That has to be one of your most basic personal statistic.

    That leaves Ted Dwayne.

  10. Okay, after a little bit further investigation, it is discovered through an interview posted on Tumblr that Ben Lovett was born in Wales and then was actually a childhood friend of Marcus'.

Which still leaves us Ted "Dwayne Wayne" Dwayne.

And the Magnetic Zero theory, Magnetic Zero being one of the supporting bands from the tour.

  11. Now here's another possibility, how about this?

We have someone that we all here know....someone with very fond, more recent ties to Marfa TX.

From an interview with The Examiner from 2009:

Q-If you weren't acting what do you think you'd be doing?

A (Austin Nichols) - Oh that would change every week for me. Sometimes I get into different things. At one point in my life I wanted to be a golfer. I used to golf when I was young. Also I wanted to be a professional water skier. Then I wanted to be a sports announcer.

Also I've really been interested in architecture lately. I really want to buy a house and fix it up. There's this incredible artist out there that inspires me, Donald Judd. All of his work is in Marfa, TX. It's a really small town that has kept his work and the buildings that he owned all around it. The town now is really influenced by his style and it's great. I was there to check out recently with some friends and it was amazing.

  12. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is an American band led by Alex Ebert, vocalist of the power pop group Ima Robot. Their first show as a full band was played July 18, 2007 at The Troubadour in West Hollywood, California. Their first full-length recording, Up from Below, was released digitally on July 7, 2009

In the summer of 2009, Ebert, Castrinos, and a group of musicians toured the country by bus as Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. Their first show in 2009 was at the Marfa Film Festival in Marfa, Texas.[1] The band recorded their debut album, Up From Below, in Laurel Canyon. Produced by Aaron Older and Nico Aglietti, it was released on July 14, 2009.

  13. "I was there to check out recently with some friends and it was amazing."

There are some pictures of Austin in Marfa with Mz. Bush from July 2009. So this is probably what Austin is referencing in this quote. Not positive when the interview was done but the publishing date is November 2009. Funny how he uses the plural form of "friend". And that he would refer to Soapy at that time as a 'friend'. But that's besides the point.

    Now here's another interesting aside.

Q-If you could go back in time and spend a day in the life of one person who would it be?

A-It would be Donald Judd I have to say. Just to see what his head was like, by his ideas and uncompromising. When I saw his old space in Marfa, everything was left perfectly the same. Nothing was moved and I can imagine it would have been difficult to live with him. I just would like to see what that was like.

What I found kind of interesting was the sentence how Austin is pondering what it would be like to actually live with Donald Judd. Kind of an unusual statement from a man, I thought. Anyway, after reading this Q&A, I became curious as to what this Donald Judd looked like. And look what I found. Now who does this Donald Judd remind you of now?????

What is it like now to live with Donald Judd?

LOL! The resemblance in the hair and beard pattern is uncanny, isn't it? I couldn't believe it. Kind of like a fair-haired Jake, isn't he???

I just found that kind of interesting and coincidental. Wildly coincidental.

  14. "Austin, I thought you told me that growing my hair out and growing a massive beard would help to throw off the OMGers? But apparently all along I have only been fulfilling for you a Donald Judd fantasy man!"

    ReplyDelete
  15. "And now this explains your sudden preoccupation with the Judd's music, Austin! And probably why we're always doing it on a row of milk crates as well!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. LOL! Donald Judd does look like a blond-headed version of the current Jake reboot, doesn't he? Bad boy, Austin!

  17. And then for whatever reason, the band and Jake were seen in Nashville TX following the conclusion of the tour. Nashville was not a concert stop.

Wasn't it Memphis? And the annual Beale Street Festival, at which they were scheduled to appear.

  18. Doesn't matter whether it was Nashville or Memphis. The question is why did Jake continue onto Memphis, after N.O.? In other words, he continues to hang around with the group, even though the tour is over. Didn't he say when he was being interviewed for End of Watch that he spent 6 long months in rigorous preparation for the film? Riiight. Just another One example in a long line of Jake deceptions that we all know was a lie. Jake was pretty much just hanging around throughout the first half of 2011, most times fluttering about from awards shows to fake NY Valentine Days trysts with his new "girlfriend" Jennifer Aniston to domestic and overseas Source Code promotion to Icelanic adventures to his father's wedding in Hawaii. This whole Memphis side trip was one more classic example of his aimless meanderings during this extended time period away from film making. Remember the pic of him stretched out on a park bench, chatting on his cell phone, trying to hide away when he suddenly appeared in NY for no apparent reason? Just walking around with a backpack after he flew from Memphis to NY. Then he suddenly ends up in LA again just in time to have a photo op with his mother. Of course, one might ask what Foner was doing in LA while Jake was seemingly gallivanting across the country, to help perpetuate the image of a footloose and fancy free "bachelor", with no responsibilities or ties. Hmmm. Maybe Mommie Dearest was helping out once again.

  20. Since we're on the topic, what kind of mother allows their son to deny his own child/children and allow her daughter to use her little girl to pimp a fake relationship with Taylor Swift to the public? I would put nothing past this family...ever.

And i think the family has been hiding another big one with Peter and Maggie for quite awhile now.

Not to mention possible discord/troubled blood between Jake and his brother in law. There was one tweet of Peter and Maggie allegedly coming in late together to the official opener of Jake's play.

But there was never one single picture. Oh, there were pictures of Tony Roberts and Jessica Chsstain but not of his famous sister and brother in law.

Don't know about anyone else but I found that pretty strange.

  22. Did anyone ever ask Ted if Jake was Toothy Tile? I think he might be.
