  1. For those questioning Austin's role on FNL:

The actor who is playing the guidance counselor on FNL is named Steven Walters, not Taylor Nichols, so I don't think he was confused with Austin. The original article was based on info from the show's executive producer so I still have hope that Austin will be appearing as a teacher on the show.

"Nichols, who also appeared in HBO’s “Deadwood,” has come home for a guest-starring role in the Austin-based NBC series “Friday Night Lights.” He’s not in the Oct. 5 season opener, but his multiple-episode story arc will begin soon after. Executive producer Sarah Aubrey will reveal few details but confirms that Nichols will play a teacher at Dillon High."

  2. Thanks for the listings, Special. Wanted to let you know that Film 2007 with JR on the 16th Oct. is on BBC1 not BBC2.

  3. Thanks UKTB, I will change that right now.

  4. I have a question for UK folks- I was surprised to hear Jonathan Ross use the F word during the Jake interview. In the States, profanity cannot be used on regular, non-paid for channels. Profanity is a staple of cable (paid channels) TV. I thought Ross' show was on a regular British network. Is profanity OK on your TV stations or are there certain rules about it?

  5. i think UK TV can get away with more things than the US... some profanity is OK.. like the F word, also some nudity etc (hell, we even have a show called "The F Word")... i think if you take what you can do on HBO, that's pretty much what you can do on UK networks. But UK is nothing when compared to other european networks... :)

  6. What a great post today! Great Rachid Taha song, the whole interview schedule and most of all beardless Jake, yeah! He looks so youthful without facial hair, no wonder he prefers to go scruffy since he's obviously aiming at more mature roles.

Thanks for the info about Austin BV. That piece of news was a real downer yesterday. I really hope to see him soon in FNL.

    Back to work now!

  7. F'in is almost punctuation over here :) Friday night TV in particular is liberty hall. I found a lot of Friday's show tacky, but that bit was a favourite moment.

  8. In the States, profanity cannot be used on regular, non-paid for channels.

Over here, on French-speaking non-paying channels profanity will be heard in series, talk shows, etc. I'm not saying we get it constantly just that it doesn't raise eyebrows anymore.

Since I'm not a big TV watcher and all the English-speaking programs I watch are American I'd really like to know about the situation in English-speaking Canada.

Zero, Rattler or orchid are you lurking? ;)

  9. Hey frenchy I am around yes. Looking forward to Jake appearance on Letterman.
Liked how Jake looked up and said 'thank you fucking much' at the end of that Fox Final cut segment 1, reminded me for some reason of Austin looking up and saying'we do have water in Texas' on Tony Danza.
Is 'young buck' a very commonly used expression, I have not heard it from anybody in the 15 yrs I lived in the US, but I am not sure. I can kind of imagine Jake reading Austin's interview laughing at that expression and then using it himself at the first occasion.

  10. As I put in the other thread, and as mentioned above the news about Austin being on FNL was by the producers of the show so I would think they know who they hired.

He might also still be filming his episodes.

  11. omg i was just chitchatting with my friend in Chicago on the phone and she metioned she and her husband's favourite TV show now is Friday Night Lights (she knows nothing about jake or austin), and i just screamed over the phone... like "omg, you have to tivo and make a DVD for me, Austin will be on it", she was like, "austin who?" and I said, "the new hot guy, you'll find out soon enough". :)

that's what she said about the show:
It's about friendship, love and families, dreams and teenager angst.... fast pace, tight storylines, great performances, good music, good looking actors and actresses. One of the teenagers looks like Johnny Depp the clean-cut version

  12. From the Ent Lawyer's site (crazydaysandnights).

There's a photo of Jake and Austin from the first Lakers game and a title that says "Jake and Austin break up." Here's the Ent Lawyer's comment:

Ooops. My mistake. When I saw that Jake Gyllenhaal was telling everyone that he was now single, I just assumed that he and Austin Nichols broke up. I mean they haven't been hanging around together since Austin got busted for an alleged DUI, and so I figured Jake just decided he needed a more positive influence in his life.

So therefore I was shocked, shocked I tell you that Jake was confessing he was single to a television audience because he recently ended things with Reese Witherspoon. Kneepads Magazine made a big deal of how Jake and Reese didn't even talk to each other at the premiere of Rendition.

It was all part of the script people. The whole Reese and Jake thing was supposed to play out in an entirely different manner. It was supposed to be this torrid love affair with them meeting in hotels across the world and taking them right through the press for Rendition. The only problem was no one bought the damn act. It was as fake as a Paris Hilton smile. When the pair finally realized that the game was going to go nowhere, they just let it die a natural death and at the premiere made it look like there was this bitter breakup.

So, in the words of Jake, "Ah, at this point yes, on behalf of the ladies I’m single." Go for it ladies.

  13. Thank you for the schedule and linkage mania, special! I'm really excited for Jake's interview on Letterman tonight - I'm getting the coffee in now so that I can stay awke, it was a looong day.

I just watched the Entertainment Studio interview, the only one I hadn't seen yet and Jake *definitely* borrowed "young buck" from Austin. For sure. :) Very sweet footage of Jake hugging Gavin Hood and holding and stroking his hand. No wonder all of Jake's director's fall like dominoes for him, he's pure human affection; who wouldn't respond to it. (I still crack up over just *how* giddy David Fincher is with Jake, lol.)

  17. You're welcome Spesh. Ted's new letters are up. Apparently TT does want to come out! :)

  18. Have you listened to the Rendition premiere clip at Eonline? Jake explains the touch of grey in his beard... he's playing King Lear! ;) ;) :D

    Dear Sound It Out:
Last name is Spears; first initial is S, and we spell it how you say it, got it? Or is that not as obvious as the fact that Toothy Tile truly does wants to come out—he just wants somebody else to do the dirty work? And thanks for the Chelsea kudos!

  20. And the end blab:

    My friends, my relationship."
—Kirsten Dunst, on what makes her happiest, at Glamour mag's Reel Moments event where Kiki and other famous femmes such as Kate Hudson took a turn behind the camera as directors. Having better luck in love than with Jake are you, darling?

  21. Is Ted saying Jake *wants* to be outed?

  22. This comment has been removed by the author.

  23. I really hope Jake is not seeking to be outed. If he wants to come out, he should do it on his own terms. Then he will have control over it. If someone outs him, he will have no control over it and neither will Austin. Very, very bad move.

  24. While reading Ted I had the feeling he was writing this out of frustration. Or maybe he's issuing a warning to his beloved Toothy?

  27. Hey Frenchy, coming out of lurkdom to say hi to you ;)

Just watched Jake on Letterman (thanks to ihj). There weren't any "personal" questions, and in fact it was quite a short clip, but entertaining nonetheless. Jake definitely has a comic side to him - Letterman really didn't have to do much but sit there and listen, lol. And on a Jausty-poo note, his impression reminded me of our Austin. You know what happens when people spend a lot of time together :)

  28. Sometimes when you have a tough decision to make, the idea of someone else making it for you appeals.
That's possibly what Jake sometimes thinks.

On another topic, someone on IMDB pointed out that Brandon Routh is no longer on the cast list for The Informers.
