Where the Twain does meet....

Some Twain for 2012.
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Explore. Dream. Discover."
~ Mark Twain

Here's to all those good things in 2011 growing into more 2012.

Can't wait to see where their ship sails this year.

And for all:

May this year be filled with friends and family and hopes and dreams come true. May each day be filled with promise and the year be fill with life's riches.

Be kind
Be thankful
Be joyful

Spread love, hope, and peace.

His entourage????? What, all their kids? LOLLLLL!!!

Just kidding, just kidding. Of course the kids aren't going to be at the farmers market. But couldn't resist that one.

  3. I love that song, Special. An absolute perfect lyrical accompaniment for the the next part of two lover's journey. There are many ties that bind, and freedoms relinquished when two people are inexplicably drawn together in love. Hard to live with them but you can't go on without them being within reach. The love intense and filled with an intimacy that cannot be captured by words. Ironically only set free when bound together. Loving someone when everything dictates that those feelings should be otherwise is the hardest love of all.

Hopefully, this year will bring Jake and Austin not only more tranquilty but the courage and the freedom to truly just be. Change the course of history and break down the moral, social and political barriers that have imprisoned the inevitability of two hearts beating as one.

  4. Once again, happy new year to all. Quiet day here. Bloody Mary's to start the day, football and a bit of vacation planning. We've decided to go to Italy again this year. Hubby wants to make the most of his retirement and I cant disagree with that. Your comment about regretting only what you did not do is dead on. He's earned the right to do whatever he wants to, so we will head back to Rome and the Amalfi coast later this year.

I am surprised by Gosling too. He has always been so independent. He seems to take roles for the challenge, not for fame. Time will tell whats up.

  6. Has anyone visited crazy days and nights today? Big reveal day. First off I am finding some pretty big reveals there. Most years when he does it , I barely recognize the stars mentioned but some big names this year, including Maggie and Peter. He says they are very cold to each other. It's from an August blind. Possibly staying together for the child. I find it surprising to hear, but the other reveals sound legit so who knows.

  7. Blind Items Revealed

    July 28, 2011

If you think your relationship lacks affection or intimacy and think you are the only one in the world, then this will make you feel so much better. This married couple consists of two solid B- movie stars. Never above the line stars, but generally the second lead for him, while the actress has been a female lead, but only in indies is it ever more than just fluff. The couple is so sterile that when they see each other even after several weeks apart, all that ever happens is an awkward hug hello. No kissing or touching, and definitely no sex, which when you consider one of her roles is rather surprising. Staying together for the child/ren?

Maggie Gyllenhaal & Peter Saarsgard - (I like to think they read this blind, realized they needed to get hot and Maggie ended up pregnant.)

  8. Okay, I need to vent for a moment. This campaign of Sophia Bush's against cancer is really starting to hack me off. The name of this campaign conjures up this kind of tweet.

Tweet me dirty questions to ask @SophiaBush this week on my podcast. Hashtag #lastweekonearthfuckcancer Asking them 4 her charity fundraiser

@bengleib my friend, you are inappropriate. But inappropriate for a good cause, so you get a free pass.

Sure, he was inappropriate. But you know what, Sophia? You have a ridiculous name like "f" cancer and don't be surprised that it attracts this kind of nonsense.

Maybe if you were mature about this disease and showed it some respect, you wouldn't get this kind of tweet. Don't blame him.

Do you really think saying "f cancer" is going to help the person who receives their first diagnosis? Who goes to visit their oncologist for the first time? Who has to go to these treatments? Who may lick it the first time but, for someone like Sass or a million other people, have to go back every few months and get Pet scans, waiting for those results to see if it's come back? Do you really know what that kind of fear is like?

For those people who lose a close family member or friend to this disease, every time another family member is diagnosed, it brings back every single memory of what cancer does to one's life and those around them?

Do you really think tweeting about "kicking cancer's ass" is a smart way to put it? A helpful, understanding and sympathetic way to put it?

It is really irritating to me to see this #f-cancer name. I'm sorry but it is totally ignorant. It's a lousy way to draw attention to a terrible, life-changing disease.

  9. My beef is that you don't "f" cancer. You fight it. You endure it. You do whatever you have to do to survive it and be the last one standing.

But you do not "f" it. Have some maturity about it, please.

BEautifully put M and M. I also hope they find the courage they need to break down barriers. It would be so sweet.

    Thanks...

  12. Seaweed the boat is the WHEN AND IF. It was designed by John C. Alden for the then Col and Mrs. George S. Patton. "She was launched in 1939 and the Pattons planned to sail her around the world 'when and if' Patton returned from the war that he saw looming in Europe. Unfortunately, Patton - by then a famous General - was killed in a freak auto accident shortly after the end of the war. But while he never sailed WHEN AND IF completely around the world, he did sail her before his death, relishing her superior ability under sail."

After his death, she was sailed by his wife for some years. Mrs. Patton then gave the schooner to her brother Frederick Ayer, who sailed her along the New England Coast.

The Ayer family "continued to sail WHEN AND IF until the 1970s when they donated the vessel to the Landmark School north of Boston. For over 20 years, she was used in the Landmark sail training program for dyslexic kids (Patton himself was dyslexic). She took hundreds of kids sailing, teaching them the elements of seamanship, and a lot about life, in the finest traditions of the sea."

In 1990 the WHEN AND IF broke loose from her mooring and landed on the rocks in Manchester By The Sea, MA. Insurers delared her a total loss and ordered the boat chainsawed, but the owners of the land on which she was hauled knew and admired the boat so much they refused to allow them to cut her up on their lawn. The refusal gave her admirers the time to secure her survival.

She was sent by barge to the renowned Gannon & Benjamin Boatyard of Martha's Vineyard. She remained in the boatyard for two years and was relaunched in June of 1994.

She is now owned by the Ruitenberg family, who manage her as a charter along the Atlantic. She spends her summer in Martha's Vineyard.

  19. I am a PetCt tech. I see the fear in peoples eyes everyday. I have lost family memebers because of this horriffic disease. Many people who have this disease are angry. I can totally understand why someone would say F cancer.

I think PG's remarks are being totally taken out of context. What digusts me more is that the critism being directed to PG is not an act of compassion for those with cancer but just a sick way of being mean to PG. You should be ashamed of yourself.

  20. I think everyone here knows that my dad died of this stuff and now my aunt is going through treatments. So yeah, I know exactly what I was speaking of up there.

Of course the victims themselves feel this way. But my beef is there's got to be a better name for the campaign and quit encouraging our young people to keep typing this 4-letter vulgar word over and over.

And that is all I have to say about it. Thank you, Tom. Thank you, Special and M&M.

And now I'm going to get back to our boys - Jake and Austin.

  23. Special,

Thanks so much for the illuminating backgrounder to WHEN AND IF, she is a beautiful schooner and the images you presented literally jumped off the page for me. I have a special love for schooner rigged vessels. She puts me in mind of a Bristol Channel Cutter, and thankfully she has been restored.

At the present time our own BLUENOSE II is being re-built in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and the entire project is on three webcams for folks to follow at novascotiawebcams.com if anyone is interested.

    Thanks again...
